[Q] Can someone help me ?? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my bluetooth doesnt work on my sgs2..
im using MIUI ROM 1.9.16.
Recently im flashing another kernel
SIYAH KERNEL V2.0..
PLZZ HELP ME !!

didnt think bluetooth worked on miui or CM7 roms at the moment?

Yeah, I'd suggest flashing a different rom that actually supports the full features of the phone. Not too sure why anyone with a beautiful SGS 2 would want to make their phone look like an iphone...my 0.02

Last I check MIUI was having issues with BT. Never expect a third party ROM to always work. If you're worried about stuff like that I'd stick to stock.

CM7 does have BT working.. unsure about MIUI

Guys, go to the official MIUI website, sgsII is official now and BT works on mine, with sound

P500 cm7 stable?

Hi guys
I'm coming to you guys because my wife finally gave me her OK to mod her p500. :-D so i'm am not new to this at all, I have a x10mini and a NEO both running on cm7.
So i just have a few questions just to see if i have understood how LG works. Just that you know this i a huge forum here and i haven't read everything because i dont have time to, so please have mercy for maybe some what noobish questions.
So i already got it rooted and custom recovery running. And did a nand backup.
So now i need to know a few things, which cm7 rom is the most stable and full featured? Since this is my wife's phone almost everything should work.
Is a custom kernel needed? Or can it go with stock.
And do you flash kernels separate with fastboot or is it part of the custom roms, i believe i saw a cm7 rom together with a kernel to be flashed with recovery. An if not which kernel would you guys suggest fitting to the cm7 rom.
I hope that that wasn't too many questions and someone would take the time to awnser them.
Thanks

I would as many others will, recommend Mik-os's Cm7 port... its what ALL the other cm mods are built off for this phone.
The latest stable 6.5.8 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
Then as far as a kernel, its up to you, the latest goldenleaf for ultimate battery life. The latest GBS, which is as i like to see it a blend from the ultimate performance of the straight franco kernel and battery life of goldenleaf (made by fserve, same person who makes goldenleaf) Both found here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227682
Or the franco kernel which has the best performance but probably not the best batt life.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049518
This is NOT to say that goldenleaf has crap performance, in fact i prefer it for its battery life and great smooth performance.... gbs and straight franco have a slight edge in synthetic benchmarks but probably not by much.
As far as flashing kernels its just like flashing the rom..... so after you have the rom flashed , reboot once completely, then reboot into recovery, flash the kernel zip just as if it was a rom, reboot out of the recovery, once to the os, reboot completely and your all good to go.
Thank you now i have almost everything i got to know.
what about baseband? as far as i know she has the old baseband. and the 6.5.8 ROM needs the new baseband right? should i do a offical FW update first to get the new baseband? or would i loose root?
i read that you cant flash basebands with recovery, only with fastboot? the fastboot toutouial looks preety complicated.
But also very interesting because you can't flash a kernel with recovery by sony only with fastboot and htc works also different.

No, not right. It uses the old baseband. Of course, you would know that if you had simply read the OP of the dev thread for that ROM, which nd4spdbh linked to.
my bad i read that above 6.6 is thew baseband but there is new kernel lol

your wife would be disappointed by the camera as it is very poor in cm7 rest all is awsome in 6.5.8(stable)

nono, it's uses the old baseband. The newer kernel is not related to any thing about baseband. A very common misconception here by users.
camera isnt that important she had her birthday last moth and she got a digi cam from me
I'm using CM7 6.5.8 + goldenleaf more than a week. So far, everything works fine. Except - don't know about wi-fi, haven't tried it
Camera isn't that bad at all.
Most important - do all wipes needed before flashing a rom
6.5.8 has the occasional google maps battery drain bug. I just got it few days ago.charged the phone to 100% in the evening and when I woke up 46%. I use maps from time to time so uninstalling it is not an option. all other things are perfect though.

With GPS turned off?
With data/gps/wifi turned off, i have just 3-5% gone in night..
Yes GPS was turned off. This seems to happen quite frequently according to some threads here in the forum. Haven't had the problem since.

FYI, running either Fserve's GBS OR goldenleaf kernels have the camera flicker fixed... its just as good as stock original rom now.

That is a bug with cm7.... itself... not just 6.5.8, it has to do with force closing an app which is using a sensor.... either GPS or Camera, DO NOT FORCE CLOSE an app that uses either of those... as the sensor never gets turned off which causes the batt drain. simply close the app (home button, or short press back button) and turn off gps via the notifications bar.
Run CM7 6.5.8 and the latest goldenleaf, with launcher pro, its the smoothest experience out there on our phones.
Just wanted to let you know that everything went well. I had absolutely no problems. And i am very satisfied.
Thank you all very much.

ICS rom question

Hi i just installed this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319459
its all good, but i was just watching a video of someone using ICS and he had a few more new features which i dont have, so just wondering why they are missing from this rom. for example, the app drawer on my phone is exactly the same as before (on miks CM7), but this guys was way better.
Because you're using cm7 with an ice cream sandwich theme.
oh, lol i thought it was an ICS rom.
so i didnt even need to install this different rom, i could have just kept my old one and put a different theme on it.
lol, its mentioned in the screens on the 1st post of dax's ROM's thread that its based on CM7..
I did say its ICCS not ICS, i havent touch the sources yet... Andy is working on ICS...
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
i dont really know what ICCS is lol, and so CM7 is built from all the android sources before 4.0 ? so for ICS it will be the next CM ?
But whatever it is, it runs really nice and looks great. however it introduced a problem where when i am charging the phone, when the screen times out, it cant come back on instantly, seems to take a while. also a camera problem
unfortunate because its the smoothest and best looking rom ive had runnin yet.
i might have to go back to miks cm7 due to this, its pretty annoying.
thanks anyway, ur a champ.

ICS Roms

Is there any that doesn't have the horrible call quality when u plug in your headphones because it seems either nobody knows what the problem is or just care to try and figure out a solution for it. All I'm asking is if you have a ICS rom...plug in your headphones...make a call...see if has horrible quality...if it doesn't let me know the name of the rom so I can get it because I want an ICS rom WITH GOOD CALL QUALITY WHEN I PLUG MY HEADPHONES INTO THE HEADPHONE JACK!!!!
Sent from my T959 using XDA
I never had problem like that ....I have tried iczen and passion just give them a try
Ok I will. Have you ever been in a phone call with your headphones plugged in?
Sent from my T959 using XDA
I have tried plenty of times ......btw which from are u using ?
I tried the miui v4 port rom and the cm9 rom and docs ics rom. They all did the tunnel noise when I plugged in my headphones. I'm about to try passions now.
Sent from my T959 using XDA
Just tried passion rom....it did it on that 1 too. Smh..I'm just gonna stick with miui til something better comes out.
Sent from my T959 using XDA
It might be a settings issue with dsp manager or voodoo sound. I'm assuming you didn't have this issue prior to ICS and most likely didn't have those apps either. Hope you get it figured out.
What are you looking at shortbus......
try iczenwich and see ......if that one also is showing same problem means its better to change kernels .....after that also u are having the problem only solution is to Odin back to stock and make a clean install ........that's all I can help!!!
I always before flashing any rom (especially ics) Odin back to eclair 2.1 stock. And I follow every step (the wiping & the flashing of cm7 before flashing ics) and this problem never occurs on any rom except for ics roms. And I know nothing about the voodoo sound or dsp manager settings and all that jazz so can I get a little help on that too? And what kernel should I use to help with the problem?
Sent from my T959 using XDA
oh kernels.... plenty are there but I would recommend glitch if u r using cm9 ......u can use latest kiss kernel v8.2 and subzero for passion .....remember always latest roms will be the best ( I'm talking about iczenwich )....

Most ICS roms have voodoo sound and dsp manager included in the install. Voodoo sound is embedded in the kernel, it amplifies and allows you to adjust amp settings etc. especially headphone output. So the tunnel sound you experience could be that you need to adjust the settings to amp gain. Dsp manager is another app for audio control. I hope this helps.

Ill check it out wen I get home. Can u post the link for that rom for me?

Its not just headphone output...its on the other end...people on the other end of the call are like "dude omg it sounds like your standing right by a freight train! Omg call me back later!" and that's with ALL ics roms. And I'm not the only 1 who experience it. There's another thread on this same problem.

How's your signal? Maybe flash a different modem. I've seen a few posts with this issue. Its unfortunate, hope you get it figured out.
What are you looking at shortbus......
i have great signal and i flashed another modem once and it didnt work it was still doing it.
1 other thing...when you guys plug in your headphones during a call...do you have this problem or no? Because maybe I can just do what you guys do and see if it works for me.
Sent from my T959 using XDA
I went back to 2.2 because of this very issue...I could get no help from anyone on it either... every rom every modem nothing helped...
BTW: always Odin ed back to stock before installing ics... no go on that either...
2.2 and 2.3 Roms no issue at all
I thought I was alone in this

Honestly I never use headphones when calling. Maybe try a diff headset.

[Q] Which ICS ROM to get?

I am sure this has been asked before but I haven't been on here in a long time.
I am getting sick of waiting for Samsung to release ICS to this tablet.
I have searched to see which ROM is worth getting but have ended up beong more confused.
Anyway I was hoping someone could recommend to me which 4.0 [ICS] ROM I should get.
Which ROM is the most stable and has the least problems?
...What doesn't work on the ROM would be nice to know also.
Thanks in advance guys.
I have used both aokp and cm9. I prefer aokp because of tweaks like the battery bar at the bottom. For me they were both stable. I did find that Fifa 2012 ran better on aokp add well. but the cm9 had the dsp controls to change the sound better.
There is a sticky in the developers forum at the top where a guy has you tube videos comparing them. I would watch those and choose the one you like better.

Can you guys point out which features dont work with CM9?

...but yea, could you guys list the things that don't work or may give problems.
Thanks

The camera doesn't work with cm9, but that's the same with any ics rom for the 10.1 tab right now

Then I will stick with HC 3.2 in the meantime

If I were you, I'd stick with custom HC ROMs. Gonna wait a little bit for the official ICS ROM from Samsung and also the JB custom ROMs from our beloved and talented ROM creators. Hopefully there is the precious camera driver for JB included. LOL

I got fed up waiting for ICS on my P7510 (though it is out now) so I hunted around and tried several before settling on Toldo's ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813651.
Everything is working, though I am experiencing an odd hyperlink problem on some web pages. I would definitely recommend this ROM.
I also would suggest Toldo's ICS ROM. Its working perfectly.

Best gingerbread Rom

Since ICS calling sucks when I have my headphones in & MIUI is getting on my nerves....are there any good gingerbread roms? I'm looking for a great stable goodlooking rom.

I personally like the CM7 nightlies the best out of the GB ROMs I never got it, but I also thought the Xerxes ROM by Jellete would be a good one to try.
Maybe you could try different rooms based on ics. Chimera 2.2 is good, even comes with a beats audio mod in custom installation.

bumped. Need to know which is the most stable GB ROM, bug free, HDMI working, BT working etc.
