I got mine today from US!
Works perfect! Just iritated with all the "bloatware" that I canĀ“t use anyway.
Thinking of rooting...

works fine in europe yes

I used this week whilst in Birmingham UK. It worked very well. Used Vodafone pay as you go and got 3meg down and 1meg up. All you need is to get it unlocked and use the correct apn settings and you are up and running.

Edit: I wrote some crap so I self-censorship

No Service? Help needed!

Hi peeps I need some help over here. Currently my phone is unable to connect to the my network. It shows "No Service" yet I am able to detect networks. Just that I am unable to connect to them. The sim card that I used is working on other phone which shows full reception. To confirm that my HTC Hero has problem, I used another working sim card on it. Nothing has changed though. I am not sure if it is a hardware or firmware problem.
I am using a rooted phone flashed with Elinux Special Edition 2.2.1 Final, Baseband version 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14
Sounds like the imei is blacklisted. Can't do much with that

How do I check if imei is black listed? I bought this phone first hand.
In fact I had sent to htc for servicing and they told me its the faulty hardware. My phone warranty expired 2 months ago Now they want to charge my an insane price to change the whole phone board Is there anyware to fix this phone because I actually intended to sell this off in 2 months time.
Is your phone locked to a different supplier? Did it used to work with this SIM?

It was working fine that day. The next morning there is no reception as shown in the phone.
Who's your network provider ?
I've had no end of grief with meteor IE, every other sim works fine but meteor only gets a service if you turn off 3g

[Q] International Use

In around two weeks, I'm leaving to Europe on a school trip. I found a website http://goo.gl/LyKpj that sells SIM cards that work in most of Europe. My two questions are that will my Amaze work with just the voice and text plan (no data) and does the Amaze use the 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 frequencies? Thank you
https://t-mobile.jive-mobile.com/#jive-document?content=/api/core/v1/documents/2614 n yes u could use it internationally

I use Viber to talk to my friend in China. It's a free wifi calling/texting app on the Market.
Give it a try.
Don't forget to call t-mobile
and get your sim unlock codes. They email it to you, and you can't enter it until you put the foreign sim in. I'd wait to get the sim until you get to where your going to, as you'll be surprised at the deals you can get once your there.
Get a different pay-as-you-go sim card in each country for the best deals.
Not much free wifi in Europe.. Don't rely on it.. In your hotel you should be ok though..

You can call FROM anywhere back to the US via wifi and it's free, not call from the us to anywhere.

Yep.
AFAIK, to request SIM unlock code for subsidized phone (from TMO), you need to be 90 days on contract at least.
Or if you don't have subsidized phone (i.e. you bought it yourself) - you need to be on active contract.
It's explained somewhere on TMO site.
Or s-off and use the free method in the general forum to sim unlock your device.
Thanks for all the help. Prior to the post, I already sim-unlocked my phone from the method in the general section. I also already bought the SIM card and it seems to work. I placed it in and typed in the pin and everything seemed to be fine, except for the fact that they don't have connection in the US. Hopefully all goes well on my trip.

No Mobile network in France
Hello, I've just receive an unlocked T-Mobile Amaze 4G phone from the US. The phone is not rooted and has a stock rom. Everything seems to be working fine but one thing:
NO MOBILE NETWORK (can't use mobile internet)
It looks like compatibility issue between the French operator (I'm not sure that it supports 4G format) and the phone radio. What should I do first:
- call my operator support service
- root and flash a custom rom
- update radio version
- ...
Would appreciate any help.

Check your Internet APN settings, I had tonnes of issues until I found the right ones. Even if your network doesn't support 4G it will still default to 3G so you can get Internet..

OTA on an unlocked EE

If I unlock my EE 920 will the ota updates still come from EE or will it be direct from Nokia.. I'd prefer to get them from Nokia directly, is it possible?
SIM Unlocking your phone will make difference to how you would normally receive updates.
So this would bascially mean " yes you will receive the updates directly from nokia. wouldnt mind unlocking my p4u 920.
Sim unlocking the device doesnt change where the firmware points to updating.
You need to debrand to the UK Rom for it to get the updates directly from nokia.
with the navifirm stuff rom the other subforum?shame i would need to set up alle the settings again

Thanks for the reply. I read somewhere else that if I debrand to the UK Rom, I loose 4G as EE has exclusivity on 4G in the UK

My phone on EE from Phones4U says in "extras+info" under "Mobile Operator Name" ORG-GB. I assume this means the phone is unbranded? There is no sign at all that the phone is branded to EE or anyone else so I assume that is the case. What does yours say? Was yours direct from EE?
It would mean that you should be okay to flash the unbranded firmware and use 4G on EE.
Edit: Just realised under help it directs to an EE website so it must be branded.
I'm tempted to debrand but I guess that'll end my warranty.
ORG-GB = Orange Great Britain so it is branded, same as my Orange PAYG model.
Stupid question alert: I'm using a Virgin Media sim in mine though, does anyone know if I'll need to put the Orange sim back in in order to get the update or will simply being on the EE network (Virgin Media is a MVNO running on T-Mobile) mean that I'll get the update anyway?

Oh right. I was hoping ORG stood for original. Lol
I'm fairly sure it doesn't matter what sim is in the phone, just what firmware is on it. Hopefully someone can confirm.

I imagine it passes the info to the server, the carrier variant and current version which then returns back if there is an update. Doesn't matter what network you are on since it uses WIFI to grab the update.

Going to Italy..

hey guys just found out that I got orders to Italy, will my s4 work there? I'm assuming it will but what if any are my best options to use it oversees? thanks!
http://businessportals.verizonwireless.com/assets/files/Available_Global_Servies.pdf
thank you
The phone is carrier unlocked so you suits be able to put in a SIM card from there abd bit have to pay Verizon's global charges.

Get a prepaid Sim here. http://www.ritesim.com/simcards/italy.html?___SID=U
I got one for Germany and worked great. Incomming calls where all free...
Don't pay Verizon costs...
It should work. According to what i've seen on this forum, you just pop in the european SIM card in order to get voice, and for data you go change your APN under your network settings (can only be done though once you have already put in your new european sim).
This way, you dont have to pay verizon's ridiculous $25/100mb charges

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 3G bought in Korea, unlocking issues

Hello!
I just recently returned to Canada from South Korea. While there I bought a Samsung galaxy s3 3g. When I left I broke my contract and was told the phone was unlocked and I could use it in Canada. However, when I tried using a Canadian sim card it didn't work. When I start the phone the SK telecom logo still pops up. I tried phoning SK and asking them to unlock it, but they say all their phones are unlocked.
Any suggestions on how to get the phone to work in Canada would be great, thanks!
You need to give more information if you want an answer. What does the phone do? What rom are you on? etc
Sorry! I'm not on any rom. The phone works fine using wifi but when I tried to go sign up for a phone plan after returning from Korea I was told my phone is locked to SK still, even though SK says it isn't. I really dont know much about phones, so I'm not sure what other information is needed.
I was just wondering how to get my phone unlocked, or to get it sk that I can use it with a Canadian sim card.
Sorry of this wasn't the place to ask a question like that.
Repeat what model phone is it please look under the battery .
This is I9300 forum .
There isn't a Korean GS3 section. Anyway, have you tried using a different SIM? It might just be the SIM's problem.
