[Q] How to avoid Xperia Neo/Arc 0% battery problem. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After getting a replacment phone back from S.E. repair, I am now trying to root my Neo gain. I was actually extremely unfortunate to have encountered the problem in the first place, but that's a story for another time.
Earlier today after a bit of messing around I accidentally updated to 2.3.4 and I was wondering if there's a safe way to downgrade to 2.3.2 and not encounter the same error

Also as my phone was sent back to me with the same battery, my phone reads the charge fine, it's just in battery use it says 20m or 2m remaining even when it's above 90%. Will draining the battery to 0% solve this?

Look Arc forum and there is doomlord NEW thread rooting xperia phones.
Work locked and unlocked bootloader ans any 2.2.x 2.3.x version.
Cheers!

Battery drain on CM 6.13

Hello, I managed to install the actual CM6 on my X10i(flashed to .58), but now I have the battery drain Problem... lost 20% in 40 minutes... :S
Flashed it actually down to .54, doesn't look much better...
yes, I did read this advice:

, but here's my problem... I have no plan, how to reinstall the OS, google and Forum search did not help... tried SEUS, tells me, I have the actual software and does nothing more...
so, I would be really thankfull, if someone could post a noob-friendly tutorial for this...
When you connect to SEUS, once it detects the phone, it will notify you about your current OS and it will also give you the option to reinstall the OS, which will result in the loss of all your apps. You will also lose root. So you'll have to do that again.
But before you do anything, give the ROM some time to settle down. Many people on wolf's ROM have observed better battery life after its been allowed to discharge a couple of times.
It has also been said that the .58 basebrand could have possible quick battery drain.
Had this issue too, the only way I found to resolve it was to start from scratch; i.e. back up, re-flash from seus, root and so on. Works a treat, though it's a pain...

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't is just easier to go to xrecovery, factory reset, wipe all stats and caches and reinstall the ROM. Is there any advantage to reflashing 2.1 first?
Tried just re-flash, no joy; still high battery drainage. I've found that in a few roms, if you re-flash the same one you get issues...!

yeah, debranded to .54 yesterday, first seemed to be the same, but now, 7 hours without recharge, 59% left, listened a bit to music, did some installations and some short calls in this time... so, it's close to the unmodified performance and not critical anymore... gues, with the cracked bootloader we will get an update soon, with no more problems like this
My battery is fine and I used. 54 BASEBAND. I SUGGEST FLASHING THAY BASEBAND ON. And you should have no problems. I have had my phone off charge for 6 hours now and I have been on the phone, listened to music, watched a few video's and been on XDA app and my battery has only dropped 31% so mine is fine. Hope it works and if not PM me and I will see what I can do

hey, i just wrote, that I also debranded to .54.. and see, mine: 40% in 7 hours, yours 30% in 6 hours... thanks for the help anyway
I'll keep this for some time, maybe it all will be fixed soon...
Xrecovery
I flashed the stock rom, rooted an everything else. When I try to boot into Xrecovery, I can't. I tried reinstalling Xrecovery, but it wouldn't take. Anybody have any ideas? I want to put Wolf's rom back on my phone, but I am stuck in stock 2.1 right now.

you will have to manually place those xrecovery files in the respective folders using root explorer. Thats the only way to make it work.
Take them from the SD card and put them in system/bin?
Edit: I got it now. Thanks for your help!
What busybox is installed on your phone. Is it v1.8 or higher if not you need to install that again using busybox installer if that fails then you will need to do what the last post says. Hope this helps.

It could be that you have a similar chipset that my x10 came with.
these are usually defunct and should have the mother board swapped by SE.
Trust me when they sold the x10 alot of damaged motherboards made it on the market.
Pathetic battery life or restarts are symptoms of these crappy boards.
Just wanted to ask...i read that wolfbreak rom battery life will get better if u use it for a couple of days..i wanted to ask do we still to do the wipe battery stat in xrec and discharge and charge the phone a couple of time or just let the system running...i ussualy charge my phone at night witout switching the phone off..is this ok..previously on 4.5 rom,the battery was great...
well,.. I actually just let the system run and I still have great battery life...but usually it's best to discharge the battery a couple of times...
Try wiping battery stats

already wipe the battery stats a couple of time...well..i just need to wait a couple of days and see how its work...now i try to discharge and charge the battery...
today,i charged my phone for 5 hours after discharging the battery to 1% last night...then,after plug out the cable,i turn on the phone and my phone fully charge..then,i wipe the batt stat using xrec and restart my phone...after restarting,my battery indicate 1%....why is this happening...try to wipe again, the same thing happen...then,i decided to recharge while the phone is on..after 20 minutes of charging,my battery rise to 79%..what does this mean?
You mean discharge and recharge fully a few times....

[Q] Excessive battery drain on 2.3.4

Hey everyone,
After flashing via flashtool the global 2.3.4 i noticed that the battery was draining way faster than normal. I should mention that i didn't wipe user data before the flash.
From what it seemed, "Android System" took up around 65% of the battery overnight without letting the phone go to sleep mode, losing 90% percent of battery in 8 hours.
My original setup was the stock rom and the doomlord v9. kernel. While trying to fix the issue n make the phone be able to go back to sleep i wiped user data n flashed the stock rom n kernel again with/without root, the SE tweaked v.5 rom, etc n the issue didn't seem to get fixed.
If anyone has any ideas on fixing that, or if it's safe to downgrade to 2.3.3 please share.
~The only thing running was a messenger app which usually uses 2-4% n my battery drain was around 3-5% overall with no use on 2.3.3 with the same setup.
(I'd post screenshots but the forum isn't letting me post outside links yet)

yeah, i noticed the same thing last night too. wifi causes a wakelock for some reason which didn't ever happen on 2.3.3.
I even relocked the bootloader n upgraded to 2.3.4 via PCCompanion just to be sure i'm not doing anything wrong with the flashing and roms but doesn't seem to be fixed in any way..
Thanks for the info!

I just checked on pc companion and it's not available for me yet in the UK with 2.3.4 global.
It's not available for me here in Greece either.
I've done some reading around at forums n see what other people have been experiencing, n i somewhere read that in one case the issue was the SD Card (which is weird) and in another it was the automatic time setting via internet. I'm doing some tests right now trying different combinations, but from what i see the phone did go to sleep with Wifi on after i turned off the auto time setting.. Nothing's for sure yet though.
Interesting. I've make ftf file with LT15 loader and uploading now.
Tonight I'll try and share it.
Well, i'm confused. My phone seems to be back to normal for now. I put the SD back and enabled internet time, restored most of my apps to see if the wakelock would happen again but it's still working properly. Which means i don't have a conclusion of some sort.
~Update: Sim Card doesn't seem to be recognized now for some weird reason..
~Update 2: Backup & Restore was the issue here, after i deleted it n rebooted the phone SIM is working fine.

the only think i found is that it doesn't stay awake with all routers, it only happends if the router is WPA2 locked and it is "n" standard, the phone will do no problem if it is connected to a open b&g network.

You can either flash the doomkernel v9 that roots the phone by itself, or boot your phone into recovery mode and install the RootXperia if you prefer stock settings
Use Juice defender, you can allways gain some battery time.

[Q] Sudden Turn offs. Please help

Hi,
I am currently using my x10 on "TheGo2 V12.1 ROM with FreeXperia+tatsuo rev 09-4 kernel. The bootloader is unlocked. Baseband is 2.1.71.
The issue is whenever I use my phone heavily like play a game, or talk on phone for 10 minutes or so, or take two or three pictures with the camera, or anything that would make the phone do some heavy tasks, the phone turns off it-self. If I try to turn it back on right after it shuts off, the phone turns on and comes to the lock screen but then freezes and shuts off again. So to make it work again I have to give it a few minutes and then turn it on.
Now it only happens when I have the phone running on battery and when the battery percentage is below 90. When I have it on charge through usb or ac charger, I can use the phone as much as I want to and It doesn't turn off.
I notice something else also. Sometimes the battery would keep dropping rapidly if I keep turning it on after it shuts off itself. It will come down to 0% or 1%. However, the phone will keep on working (no heavy use, just simple text messaging) and the battery percentage would start to increase itself (no, phone is not on charge).
I have tried many different ROMS and kernels (Stock based, MIUI, CM) but no luck.
I don’t know what the problem is. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
>>>> The problem was a bad battery. There wasn't anything wrong with software nor it was because of overclocked phone. I changed my battery and now I am not having any sudden turn offs.

Yea, I think it is the hardware problem too. Or could it be some script on sdcard that is making the phone go crazy. (Just guessing about the script) lol.
Also, the phone is overclocked. I use 225 min and between 998 to 115200 max. I don't think it is the because of the frequencies. I have tried different frequencies. If it was the frequency then why doesn't it shut off when it is on charge??
I have an X10 that was showing the same symptoms, after a while it stopped booting all together. No way to flash it or do anything with it.
I think ur problem is overclocking. Each device has certain tolerance to different frequencies many can't handle higher/lower freq bands. Try bringing it down to default c how it works (ps don't set on boot)

I had this issue. Finally i figured out that it's kernel case(in my situation). I flashed stock kernel abd BINGO reboots stopped. I flashed doomkernel latest version and DOUBLE BINGO! no reboots + option for OC/UC

I had the phone on custom kernel, overclocked and unlocked bootloader for a while and It was working fine untill I installed this MIUI rom and I followed the battery calibration process that was in the MIUI thread. It didn't happen while I was using the MIUI rom. It started to happen when I changed back to the stock based roms.
It might be the frequencies, but I personally think there is some other problem. Because If it was the frequencies or because of overclocked, it should turn off even while it is on charge.
It only turns off when it is running on battery.
I will keep the suggestions in mind. Thank you all for giving your suggestions.
I am thinking to bring the phone back to the original 2.1 rom and lock the bootloader. I'll check if it happens again. If not, then I'll take it step by step to see what causes the phone to do it.

Is it overclocked? Maybe is that, when I overclock mine to 1,2 GHZ, it just can't handle it and reboots at every attempt of use.

Oh, its damaged all right. I had two x10s that had the same problem. As far as I know (from Sony Ericsson warranty rep) the problem is a damaged motherboard. Not your fault by the way, it was apparently an electrical short that somehow screwed the whole board. I've had two replacement x10s and am sending this to you from my third x10. Your problem should be covered under warranty, so find your regional sony ericsson support number and call them. They should be able to get you a replacement. If not, you should start shopping for a new phone.
Oh, but first you should relock your bootloader.

Yea I think it is a hardware problem. The only thing I don't understand is why does it not do it when I have it running on ac power. It only does it when it is running on battery. :/

Umm, it is an odd problem. Happens only when running on battery as I have said before....
It has taken many falls. Good thing is the screen didn't break but the back cover got loose and it has some dents on the conrers. lol
I will try again. I have to re lock my bootloader first. Then I would go back and do a fresh install. I am thinking starting back to the 2.1.
I don't have a job right now or else I would have bought the Arc S by now. lol.. Is anyone hiring btw?
Thank you all for the help. Really appreciate it.
same problem
I've been experiencing exactly the same.
In addition, I don't know if anyone noticed, the battery use graph looks like the battery is doing some weird stuff. It looks as if the battery drains when in use, but then it comes back up. I've had readings of 30% battery after using, but after letting it sit and rest, it comes back up to 50%.
And this happens with stock and custom roms. I've used Wolf's and Zmod, and the same turn-offs happen in all of them, as well as the battery use.
Anyways, I just flashed stock, and I'm taking it today to service!

Exatcly the same issue with me. The battery drains fast, but if I leave it unsued, it starts to come back up. Like yesterday night, I was using it normal. Just texting and I had the wifi on. So, the battery starts to drain and got to 1%. The phone turned off.
I turned it back on after a few seconds and it had 2% battery and it kept going up. It is like a self charge system or something. lol.
I ended up ordering a new battery for the phone. Maybe that will fix it. It only cost me $12 on amazon with free shipping. So, let's what happens.

Help!! battery can't last for a day after ICS

I have recently updated my xperia s to ics by following the [Guide for noobs] (great post btw, thanks). Everything works fine.... other than the battery life....
When it was my xperia s was on GB, it would last for about 1.5 day. However, after updating to ICS, it struggles to go past 10 hours, here is a photo of the battery usage, the android OS seems to be using most of the battery and I am not sure how I can reduce its usage.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

[Q] Is my phone bricked?

hi,
my phone is Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i), recently i've unlocked the BL and begin installing some custom roms. my first custom rom is Super JB v6 with nAa kernel, it worked flawlessly, but strange, if the battery still has 15% or bit lower, it suddenly down to 1%! and my phone goes off less than 1 minutes later.
i think it has rom/kernel problem, so i changed to some roms & kernels, from flawless ICS, xNXT until now im using MIUI Life. bad luck, it GETTING WORSE! now if my phone still has 80% battery life, it goes 1%!. i think its battery problem, but after 80% to 1% shutted down, i turned on again, and going to CWM recovery. i'm doing nothing here unless to keep my screen on for checking if it actually battery problem, it should shut down for a seconds. but i've waiting until about an half hour, my phone still ON.
WTF is the problem? is my phone really bricked?
P.S. clearing battery stats don't works, and i believe that was just myth.
any answer will be appreciated. thanks
Reflash to Stock FTF and then flash a ROM ...Try being on Stock ROM for a few days IMO and check if it persists ...Get a new battery and check it ...It more looks like a faulty sensor imo ...
Am I right?
Is it possible (if unlocked propertly) to brick phone? I had never briked... But had mano bootloops and etc... But after flashing everything right all problems are solved. Am I missing something?
