Have you calibrated your battery (cleared battery stats)?
I always use BatteryCalibration app from the Market after flashing a new ROM.
Otherwise the system needs to adapt the correct battery power to the old stats which may differ from the values in the new ROM.
BTW, I just flashed a new ROM yesterday, discharged my phone down to 12%, then fully charged the battery up to 100%, started BatteryCalibration app, hit the calibrate button, disconnected the power cable and turned the phone off last night.
This morning, the battery indicator showed exactly 1% less than yesterday evening.
I think that's Ok.

Battery

I just uploaded a new rom and a kernel, and now I am having problems with my phone holding a charge. Anyone got any suggestions as to what I should do.

You know I never really got what the term "charge cycle " is, what os it? Is it when you recondition turn battery 3 times or what?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Go into recovery mode and in the menu there is an advanced go in then and wipe stats or you can get an app that does the same thing. Either do that. Then, drain the battery 'til dead (run a movie). Then fully charge That is a complete charge cycle. That will recondition it that is all you really need. Then also maybe get a task manager or something similar to be able and check and make sure there are not things running in the background check.
If the battery then is not holding a charge after this then..maybe the battery needs replacing
Charge cycle is from charged to dead to charged.

Hey thanks you all for responding to my thread. I have now just discovered that the phone will not even power up or hold a charge at all. I am thinking its the battery because the bionix rom and the kernal were still working before the phone shutdown. Any thoughts on this new development??

Battery drainage

Everyday, I have my battery charged to 100% in the morning and i bring it to school. I leave my phone in my locker till 3:30 everyday but it every time i take it out, the battery is always drained from 50% and lower.
Should i get a new battery or somthing?

Is BT/Wifi on?
Low reception also causes battery draining.
Nope. and it doesnt happen at home when im also on the wifi..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I have noticed 3G draining battery much faster than wifi. And it will also depend on what applications are running. When you say your battery lasts longer on wifi, its good battery.

What ROM do you have?
Have you reconditioned/recalibrated?
Have you changed the default kernel from the ROM your using? if so, name the kernel
how
how do you reclaibrate..i am using simply arabic rom..i am using kernel 2.4.1
Omg this happened to me!
Im 14, exact same thing happened to me. Just last week though i broke my phone and htey sent me a new vibrant. The battery stays at 91% or more now after school doing nothing with it, when it used to be at like 40%. Maybe it's the new battery IDK, but a huge differance.

Almost everyone does it differently around here, this is what worked for me.
Full charge your battery, wait for it to drain (reach minimum 5% or better yet wait for the phone to turn off), now charge continuously for 100%. Unplug then plug the phone to the charger again (its not yet fully charged) after it reaches 100% this time boot into recovery go to advanced and wipe battery stats.
Try the "spare parts" app, it tells which app is eating your power up.
thats exactly the same thing that happened to me.... so i'd recomend you to flash a new rom TRIGGER once you flash it download a kernel from the vibrant developement and its called TIGERS BLOOD and the rom comes with an app called BATTERY CALIBRATION and just lije they told you.. wait for your fone to be fully charged and open that app and theres goin to be a button that says START CALIBRATING and now when i go to school till i get out my fones battery life its only 73% and i play games in it so if i dudnt play games at all it'd be like 80% or 85% of battery life....

I reccomend a very easy fix which contains two parts. Recondition the battery usin battery calibration app in market. Do this at 0% and 100% be sure to let the phone fully charge and die with no interruption.
Next get setcpu from the market and set it to powersave. Those two things should leave you around 95% battery. ROM shouldnt matter as much with these settings. Also cut off your data, wifi, bluetooth, anything your not using.

(q) very slow battery charge

Hey guys I'm getting some really slow battery charge over here. I've had my phone plugged in the OEM ac charger for over 3h now and it went from 5% to 50% and the phone is getting hot also. I haven't touched it at all for those 3h and data is off so no internet. I don't get it. It's usually fairly quick maybe 1 to 100 for about 2h.
Edit: I'm running capcomalpha with fraux kernel and stock battery.

The following suggestion may be of no help in your case, but I've experienced something like this as well, mainly with CWM that doesn't support off-charging. The phone will look like its charging but is actually drawing just enough energy to keep the phone alive. Also, the charging light will turn off after 15 mins or so. One way to ensure that your phone is getting charged adequately is to check the screen; if you see an ultra-dim screenshot of CWM then you'll have to periodically remove the charger and reinsert it "restart" the charge. Then try to boot into android to complete the charge.
The phone is on I rebooted it and it jumped from 55% to 68%

You bumped a thread that was still on the first page after only 7 1/2 hours? Please don't do that again, not that I agree with bumping threads, but it is for when something needs brought back to the first page, not while it is on the first page.
do your have a case on? the trapped heat is cause the phone to slow down charging. it is a safety feature. off the case and flip over when charging. it should charge faster.

The phone has no case and was on the table so i guess there was nothing to make it overheat. Sorry for the bad bump i guess i was just desperate.

What version of Recovery are you on and as you said your using faux kernel. Try to revert to stock recovery or stock kernel and see if there is a change or behavior of your phone. And try aand see if fastboot is check on your power under settings..
you said it was hot. maybe you have some app in background using cpu. hence power drain and overheating.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Ok i swithed to stock kernel and its doing the same thing. I reflashed the rom and didnt install any apps to see if thats the case. I also noticed ita doing it only when the battery is low- 10% or less. Then the phone heats up and its barely charging. If its above 50% it charges fairly quckly and doesnt heat up. Ill see how stock kernel does tonight and report back.

Ok 2 days with stock kernel then a new battery then a new charger... 3h chRging and not even 10% of charge... Im cluless

[Q] Battery calibration messed up my battery

Hi.
I used Battery Calibration from google play exactly as instructed. Since then, my battery is charging REALLY slow, or not at all. When I use my fully charged galaxy after its charged overnight(connected to a charger) it shows 100%, and when I disconnect it, the battery drops... To lets say 92%. What can I do to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Charge it till you're sure it's 100%, turn off your phone, take out the battery for a minute, put it back in and turn your phone back on.

It's not possible to 'calibrate' an SGS2 battery.
Do what Donnie suggested, and if that doesn't help, flash a kernel like Siyah which enables you to reset the fuel gauge from ExTweaks/similar app (you can do it from command line as well, if you search the Siyah discussion thread you'll probably find the exact commands).
If neither of those things work, your battery is on the way out. Buy a new one.
My battery (original) drains even wen the phone is off. First i tought that my battery was broken. I bought a new accu (original) but i got the same results. After about 8 hours ive got 15% less juice and the phone was off. What could this be?

Ok, after I rooted I seem to be having a strange. Battery issue .. anyone have a fix for this? (I user antutu to control CPU and for now I'm busting using it to monitor+ dropped my phone iinto eco mode ( where it usually is) I can counter bat loss by doing the normal stuff but I never had to do.anything other then turn off data before... and even then... but from 10:50 pm to 2:40 am the phone went from 90% to 12% . And that was ..( eco was off) lol ... but I have never had that happen. Before even with that.

75% it was on the whole time...even though screen was off....
This is the screenshot its a straight drop over the hours mentioned ... slope stays steady so its Constant power drain until I noticed ( you can see on the graph)
None of those apps were open, and I had done a restart right before. ( I fell asleep which is why I know I wasn't using it)

On top of the screen i see the skype is running in backgroud..
Just sign out from skype and also close wifi..
Try it bcz to know the exact battery issue trial and error method of clossing apps is best.

+1. Or show both. Apps that stay on data/wifi will murder battery, even on eco mode.

Right after I rooted mine I had terrible battery as well. I ended up reformatting (not wipe, actually formatting my system and caches) and then installed my rom again, fixed permissions and my battery life has been amazing. If I don't use the phone my battery maybe drains five percent all day long. If I use it a lot it will last most of the day as well.

The other thing you should check is you fast dormancy.
If you're flashing custom ROMs it's best to do it at a FULL 100% charge. In the past, before I started doing this, I had major battery life "problems." My phone would drop from 100 to 1 in a matter of hours and just hang on 1% for hours on end. If you haven't done this, download Battery Calibration, turn off your device and plug it in. Once it reaches 100%, turn the device on, run the app, and restart your device WHILE STILL PLUGGED IN. Once everything settles you should be good to go.
