Just managed to bag myself one fo these from a high-street retailer in the UK and all I can say is WOW - first impressions are really good.
Out of the box, the hardware is really impressive for a tablet costing half the price of iPad. The screen is fantastic and the whole presentation is really high end considering the price.
The only one problem is the software as it stands. It has a 1ghz A8 - like the Galaxy P1000 - however, with the software build installed, it seems to chug along - Flash player works well but does stutter on anything over 240p quality. Viewscene 3D - which I beleive is SPBs mobile shell, really lags and the web browsing experience (although accurate in it's reproduction) is a little frustrating. I replaced the launcher with ADW which works really well and the browser of choice is now Opera.
I have been searching all forums to see if there are any developers working on ROMs but as it is so new, there don't seem to be many. Is there anyone out there? I contacted Viewsonic themselves and found there response really upbeat and definitely looks like they will be supporting the software side of things in a big way.
The response suggested some big news regarding improvements to the user experience which I can only speculate on.
Good luck if you can get one - its great quality at a reasonable price.
Only question facing me know is which case to get - with the device being same size as iPad - there are plenty to choose from.
If anyone is interested in working on the software/ROM, please get in touch - I am comfortable with ADB and the command line but know very little about programming or building the OS!
Cheers all.
Hi steviesteve78
I agree, Viewscene 3D looks pretty much like SPB shell
I just bought a Viewpad 7e for my father, works very fine for the investment. Trying to put Gapps on it with the cyanogenmod 7 gapps pack.
Did you managed to connect to your 10e with ADB ?
Thx,
Jafo
Hi
Recently purchased one of these too, first impressions are good but i cant seem to get iplayer or 4OD to play videos.
Any ideas?
I'm thinking of getting one of these too. But I'm a bit concerened about the 'dated' SC A8 CPU and the dated OS?
Some of the things I will want to do on this is video calling using Skype (yes, I know there are other alternatives, but it has to be Skype) and playing DivX/Xvid movies and some .MKV movies. Could anyone tell me if it will be good enough? I am quite impressed by the dimensions and the screen, but if the specs can't keep up then I'm thinking of a cheap and chunky Tegra 2 tablet like the POV which is actually £10 cheaper and I'll put a custom ViewComb 3.2 ROM on it...
Any suggestions/opinions?
Has anyone been able to root the device?
You can root the Viewpad 7e with Gingerbreak v1.2 so I think you will be able to do it in the same way for the 10e.
I used Gingerbreak 1.2 but failed.
Could you please list the steps?
Thanks in advance
Did you enable usb debugging before trying to root your device ?
For the steps, nothing complicated in the case of the 7e :
- install Gingerbreak 1.20
- enable usb debugging
- open Gingerbreak
- select root
- the Viewpads 7e reboots and is rooted
Let us know if Gingerbreak doesn't work on 10e.
Is there any kernel or custom roms for 7e?
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Gingerbread could not root my Viewpad 10E. It ran over 15 minutes and still says "Rooting...
Running Exploit...
This may take a few minutes!
Device will reboot on success!"
I then forced the application to quit.
My logcat shows the following two lines again and again
D/DirectVolume( 1096): DEVPATH = /devices/virtual/block/loop0
E/DirectVolume( 1096): Partition '/devices/virtual/block/loop0' has a different major than its disk!
Does it give any clues to what the problem might be?
Is your debug on?
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Yes, I enabled USB debugging.
It should work.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Unfortunately, it did not work for me.
Do I need to use any SDCARD?
Nope. My viewpad 7e can be rooted.you dont need sdcard

How long did it take to root?
(I discontinued the root process after waiting for 10 minutes.)
Around 5 mins

I got the 10e for my mother 3-4 weeks ago coz of build quality and looks and everything really, it really does feel like it should be double the price when in your hands. And my little brother installed superuser from the net(without rooting) and when I showed him how things don't work that way by installing a boot recovery app that needs su permissions, how supprised
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Continued (sorry) when the superuser app popped on the screen asking me to allow or deniey , yes folks this happened without me ever rooting or even trying to to root it. Can someone else try this and tell me I'm not mad. The app in question is from Google market that I sent to the view pad 10e from my nexus s(ics)(cheers koush) through Bluetooth, I can't remember the exact name but the icon for it is a hat(its a reboot recovery app). May by this can start the pro's to look into it . Coz this pad is so worth modding.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I tried installing superuser and it didnt work for me.
I also tried installing the new firmware update...over at modaco and viewsonic sites...but when I get to the recovery menu my back and menu buttons dont operate and so cant get to the sd update choice ;-(
Anyone know if theres another way to apply the update via PC perhaps ? saw a link for {Nand}MPTool but cannot seem to find it.
And in case any of you want android market for 10e then theres a link for that at the modaco site as well... tried pasting it here but am too new apparently ;-)

before I state my question, YES i tried searching around this forum for my particular problem, but I'm kinda ishy-washy on some of it- I'm one of those people who needs an answer to my exact problem so sorry!
Anyways, I have this HP Touchpad for awhile (my Aunt bought it for me when it was on a huge sale in mid November) and I kinda got pissed at it with it's lack of apps and things to do, compared to what my friend has: an iPad. So I put it in my closet, until now where I'm just craving for a tablet.
But I still have the same problem: THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO WITH IT. I have watched many videos and blogs about how people changed their touchpad to different systems and I'm interested on how to do that. First of all, which system is good for me to switch too? I do not want to switch to a system that will not benefit me at all. I am aiming for using a tablet for opening Microsoft files (Word, Powerpoint) and editing the files, playing FUN games (not that awful Robotek game), and watching videos on youtube.
So which system you recommend on me getting? And what tutorial to follow to get that system? Is there risks involved (I do not want to waste my touchpad)? How big of a risk? Should I just save up for an iPad? Also please be specific on the tutorial on what to do (Preferably a video tut or possibly have one of yall geniuses be there while I do it)
Sorry for all the questions lol I'm just about this close to throwing this tablet out of the window.
Well, there are a few things you can do with it already.
Firstly, WebOS is a nice OS. Yes, there's a lack of games for it at the moment. Yes there's a lack of other non-game apps available for it, too. That's a given. WebOS is just not as popular. HOWEVER. With it being open-sourced this year, that should change.
Secondly, the ability to install Android on your Touchpad is well documented. There's a great guide on how to do that at this link here (to RootzWiki). They are the people who put CyanogenMod 9 (Android 4, Ice Cream Sandwich) on the Touchpad. This means you have a tablet OS of Android that works, is (in my opinion) extremely stable, and can do almost anything.
For your need of YouTube, that's covered - the HD acceleration has been incorporated into Alpha2 that I linked to you. The ability to play games, there's a lot of them out there for Android, and with a little searching, you can tweak your TP to be able to download and play more of them. As for office files, if you download any of the good Office Suites (they cost anywhere from 5-25 dollars), you can do mobile office work right on your tablet. I have all three from the Amazon AppStore - Documents to Go, OfficeSuite Pro, and QuickOffice. All three offer their perks, all three have their downsides, but all three work great for what I've had to do.
If you have questions about the install, feel free to drop me a PM - I'm more than happy to help walk you through what you need to do to get ICS installed on your TP. And since I've done it many, many times, I can almost walk you through it completely in my sleep.
Hopefully that answers some of your questions, mate. If not, as I said, ask away, and I'll try and help.

Hey again I have another question: I installed Cyan 7 Alpha 3.5 but whenever I charge it, it restarts. It also restarts when I leave it on for a while.
Is this common?

Well... it's now essentially dead... you aren't going to find much support lol. Nobody in their right mind is using CM7 still, unless you must absolutely have half-working Skype or something. Move up to CM9 bud, see if that doesn't fix things.

It'a an alpha, it's common to have problems. But why would you install a CM7 Alpha? Like that guy said, get on CM9. The camera still doesn't work, but to be honest, it wasn't really functional in CM7. Other than that, everything is MUCH better and more stable now.
If you are looking for a cheap method to work with Word documents you can use Google Docs. It is cloud storage but it will let you do the basic work on any device and then download it in Word format.
Any of the other listed apps do a great job as well. I got them all free on the Amazon App Store, they have a free app of the day. Once you get your tablet setup and in a good state look it up for freebies.
its a great tablet.

Euh i just want to say dont buy a ipad if you have a great tablet alrrady hp touchpad. Its the same size screen etc.. ipad is fun but sucks (because of no costumaziation android is and says fun) only thing i still dont like about TP is no hdmi out and no full usb host, but still better then ipad (doesnt have one of then also)
I had used webos for a long time downloaded al games for sites and afcors instaled preware i had i think about 10-15games 3d games like ashalt need for speed. Al for free. But after 2-4months it sucks and i instaled android and never rebooted webos again.
If you have CM7 Running, what you need to do is Download the CM9 files and gapps v11, then go to Clockwork recovery, wipe, flash files, and reboot. That will work beautifully. lol
If you insist on staying on CM7, then that is normal for some reason that it will boot when a charger or usb is connected (maybe even CM9). Even sometimes without it being connected, if you do a shutdown from within the OS, it will reboot and you have to select shut down from the moboot menu.
Hello All,
My first post here - I just got my new Asus TF Prime today... Beautiful tablet
I just have a couple of q's - Is there anything I should do first up, after I open it and charge it?
I have to do the upgrade to android 4.0 and I saw the instructions in the Asus TF Prime support page. Is that the easiest / best way? I saw that there are 10 different firmware versions and they do mention instructions on how to get the correct firmware. But for some reason, I find it confusing. Can someone let me know how to chose the right firmware for upgrade? I am in Helsinki, Finland and I got the TF Prime from Helsinki, Finland.
Is it necessary for me to install a security suite on the tablet?
PS., I have seen the wonderful accessories guide here and I plan to get some soon like the stylus / cover...
Thanks and see you all around.. Cheers.
Step 1: avoid trolls/douchebags that flood this forum nowadays....
anyway once you are charged up go into the settings then about tablet and check for new firmware and upgrade to ICS. Then you need to decide if you want to root the tablet or not.
After you update to ICS, do a factory reset, for silky smooth operating...
Congrats

Congrats with your TF Prime!
You probably have the WW SKU, so I guess that is the one you should look at that one (Version V9.4.2.15(WW)
Check the SW version under "settings", but I guess yours will be World Wide Rom.
Enjoy your TF Prime, mine has been ordered today.

Verry important, and do it before you install anything, saves a lot of time.
Step 2: post thread comparing it to The new iPad
Hello people,
Thanks a lot and lol on some msgs...
I am charging it up now and I will check the SW version in a while.. but on the box, I see "Android WW"... so I assume its the android ww rom?
Also, on the keyboard dock sticker, it says "Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich" - Does this mean it has already shipped with the Android 4.0 OS? Anyway, I will check in the settings once I turn it on.
PS., how do I do the factory reset? From within the settings like in any other android 4.0 OS?
Thanks again and cheers.
PPS., I don't have no iPad and so, no comparison..
The good things:
Check out a few games, they rock on the Prime. There are a number of "THD" marked games that give the 3D performance a workout and show off the hardware and display very well. Emulators, especially with a bluetooth joystick paired to it, work great. Check out performance of video with some good movies. Check out Splashtop (comes with the tablet) and if you're inclined, check out Splashtop THD (basically Splashtop but makes higher resolutions available, and smooooooth streaming for HD files). Decide whether to root, add things like CIFS support for connecting to your home network. Put a new launcher on it, organize your shortcuts into folders, get a new wallpaper on it using wallpaper wizardrii, chat with some friends using Skype or Talk.
The preventative steps, to do while in your return period, and before you decide to unlock it...some of these issues may require RMA or a return/repurchase or selection of a different unit for some people:
-Verify it has a serial number shown in settings, and that you are able to receive OTA updates.
-Check out the overall performance of wifi, decide if it's good enough for your needs.
-Check the performance of the GPS. It likely doesn't perform very well.
-Try pairing a bluetooth headset and listening to streaming music or watching a movie over wireless, check out internet speeds with and without bluetooth.
-Check for light bleed along edges of the screen
-If you plan on using the keyboard dock, check out the various threads on cracked screens and decide if you want to take preventative steps or get an extended warranty, etc.

Agreed. Update your tablet before you install any apps and then do a factory reset. Some people noted software glitches after they upgrade their device and it is much easier to to a factory reset before you install a lot of apps.

To check for an update go to Settings > About Tablet > System Firmware Update.
Even though your tablet shipped with ICS, it might not have the latest update for this tablet.
To reset your tablet go to Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.
Great ideas for new owners. Got plenty to do looking for problems before downloading any kind of applications.

Hi People,
Thanks again for the msgs and info.
I checked and it says Android 4.0.3 in settings (and yes, there is the serial number too).
I am yet to connect to wifi / bluetooth and all that. I will soon. Tablet as such looks great - no defects from the outside..
Btw, I noticed that there is no Swype option as an input method?! Is this true or am I missing something here? If there is no swype, then can I just download the Swype Beta from the official Swype website?
As for the apps., I still haven't installed anything yet.. I will in the coming days There are quiet a few essential apps I need to get in as well as get a micro sd card for 'expanded' memory.. lol (I need the micro sd card, because I'll be working with tons of PDFs and other documents).
Anyway, let me see how it goes Cheers..

Of course, yes Dropbox, evernote, Adobe reader (or is there anything better for reading PDFs?), Skype, Opera Mobile etc., are all waiting to get in..
Btw, thanks a lot for the SD Card info. Yes, I do have an SD card lying around - I will check that..
Also, in one of my prev posts., I had asked info about the necessity for a security suite - do I need one? I mean, I don't install apps from outside the google android market in any case... still, do I need a security suite?
And does anyone have any idea for Swype?
Thanks again.
You can download the Swype beta from their website. It works quite nicely on ICS now. There are a few steps required to get Swype up and running, including creating an account on their website, downloading an installer, then the installer downloads and installs the Swype app. But it's worth it, IMO.
I've never used a security suite for my Android devices. Just be judicious in which apps you install.
If you don't mind paying a few bucks for an advanced PDF reader/annotator, consider ezPDF or RepliGo.
Step 4. Determine wherever its faulty or not BEFORE your return to retailer window expires, and never, ever rma it, well obviously unless you are past return window and something fails.
Step 5. Hopefully its all clear, and you can start enjoying it.

The default Asus software keyboard is swype-like, in that you can slide from one letter to the next. Kind of swype-lite.

Hello again,
Thanks for the msgs (and yes, I'm enjoying this tablet)
Btw, I checked the firmware version: On the TF Prime it says, "IML74K.WW_epad-9.4.2.15-20120221"
and on the Asus website, in the support section for TF Prime, I see "Version V9.4.2.15(WW)" - Is this the one I should be looking at?
Also, As you can see, the version is the same but the dates are different: The one on the Asus website has "2012.02.29 update" where as the system has "20120221"... So should I just leave it as it is or should I update to the new firmware?
I got Swype beta downloaded / installed and its working fine. BT and Wifi are working great as well...
PS., I noticed that, for some reason, when connected to my PC (at work, Win 7 x64, home premium) through USB, it doesn't charge (it charges when I connected to my laptop, Win 7 x86, Ultimate)... Why so?
PPS., Another issue (and yes, I did search and read some threads on a similar issue - notifications do not clear out even after downloading / installing an app!! Is there any way to clear it? For instance, on my SGS2 phone, there is this 'clear' option... but I don't see any such option with the TF Prime. Is there any way to clear those notifications?

Thank you xboxexpert for all your hard work!
Step 1. Plug the device in to your computer and uninstall any drivers that may load.
Step 2. Download and update the Android SDK, including the USB Driver or try the PDANet drivers.
Step 3. Add the following line to adb_usb.ini found in your user directory in the .android folder (e.g. C:\Users\YourName\.android\):
Code:
0x109b
If the file does not exist, simply create it. This may require a reboot
Step 4. Load up ADB and check connectivity through the following command:
Code:
adb devices
Step 5. If everything reported correctly in the previous step, run Motochop.

Looks like you were one of the lucky few who were able to purchase this little gem early. Congrats on that. I picked mine up today and I must say that it is probably the best $150 I've spent in a very long time. It's the happiest I've been with a gadget purchase since scoring a BNIB 32GB HP TouchPad for $99 during the firesale. With that said, I hope to see more people coming to the forum with interest in the device. We can only speculate, but I would imagine this low-price and feature rich tablet will get the attention of at least a few developers and we'll get more info then. As for what I have been able to obtain, I'm stuck at the same roadblock as you. I'm bumping this thread for further interest.
I agree. Best spent $150 in a long while. Seems just as fast as my gs4.
Only cons are the screen and bulk, but for the price its a steal!!!
Hopefully it gets support for updates from hisense or the great xda devs start playing with this beast.
Root for this is needed, stat !!!
I'm thinking to sell my Nexus 7 16gb and get this since it has the hdmi and microsd slot.
I'm sure XDA guys will make this device a beast, right?
Will be interested in seeing is some deva pick this up as my main concern would be support.

I just picked one of these up on the way to work this morning. It is sitting on my desk charging as I am trying to get some work out of the way before I turn it on. I will be replacing a Kindle with this and just from eyeballing it my Kindle Seido case may be a perfect fit. I will test it tonight. It also appears that a Kindle screen protector will work for it as well. I would guess the Nexus 7 or other 7" protectors will work also, but I can use a ruler and verify the Kindle one since I already have that device.
Have you tried using the motochopper tool from djrbliss?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2233852
I would start with trying the root exploits that work on the Nexus 7 (Similar chip set?) and Android 4.2.
I don't have this tablet, so I have not tested to see if this does in fact work.
Random question, since this is the only thread about the Sero 7 Pro I've found.
How are the speakers? I have a Kindle Fire HD and I am pondering about the switch...
Also, can this support 64GB microSDs?
Also, I've heard reports of flawed Sero Pros popping up.
Does anyone have any firsthand experiences with how this tablet's holding up?
Thanks in advance!

The speakers a actually pretty loud. I was watching movies on it last night and was satisfied with the sound.
I saw some random comments (in the comments section) on various articles about this tablet but they all seem to be written by the same person based on the writing style and content.
Mine is holding up great. No issues at all and is as enjoyable as using my galaxy s4 but with a bigger screen. I'm testing out the battery today to see how long she lasts. If she lasts me the whole day of heavy use, she's a keeper.

Add me to the list of buyers! Just got this about an hr ago. This is my 1st tablet and I must say this thing is nice. 15 days to decide to keep it or not. What root access.

The box states 32GB MSD. I only had a 16GB to stuff in it.
New owner here.
Did anyone else have to go to multiple stores only to deal with customer service that had no clue what you were looking for?
The first store I went to, they older guy was disgruntle I interrupted him, when I pressed him to do his job he couldn't spell Hisense.
Just picked up the Pro today, haven't opened it yet. As mentioned above, with the 15 days from Wally, I'll wait a bit to see if any devs pick it up. I have to say it does look like a terrific deal for the specs and if there is some XDA love for it, I'll give my GTab 2 to my wife.
I'll be searching this forum daily to see what shakes down.
@tharien,
First location I went to, walked in and went right to the display case, saw the Lite and Pro. Asked the nearest associate to open the case, checked out and left. Took less than 5 minutes.

Good to hear. I was also waiting to see if devs pick it up because I was looking for a tab for my wife and daughter. But don't want to hang them out with one that would be unsupported. Let us know how hdmi works as my wife would want that for work.

64GB microsdxc
I have a class 10 Sandisk 64GB microsdxc card in my sero 7 pro. It is not formatted as exFat since it came from a GS3 running a custom ROM.

I had to go to 2 different stores. The first store had a single 7 Pro Lite. The second store had 5-6 of both models.
I hope devs pick up this device too. Though I'll likely get one anyway...

As far as I know, this is a new Tablet. 7 inch Nvidia Terga3 1.3ghz quad core with 1gig of ram/8gb ROM. NFC, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4ghz and 5ghz, front and rear facing cameras, 5 and 2 megapixels respectively, GPS amd mini HDMI. Jelly Bean 4.2. It's a decent little tablet.
The trouble is getting it rooted. Recovery mode is attainable and I've only been able to pick up the serial number via ADB when attempting to update from ADB in recovery. Any other time, I get nothing. Any advice on how to proceed? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

How were you able to get feedback in recovery mode? I can't get ADB to see the device at all. I tried using the Nexu 7 ADB drivers as well as a raw set. I can only get Windows to see it, however that's an easy thing when forcing a driver.
I also tried fastboot - Windows sees it as the Nvidia tegra 3 Fastboot connection, so I'm starting to think we need the real driver from Hisense unless we can find a generic alternative.
Device Manager shows (! - M470BSA) and again under portable devices correctly as a media device.
The Vendor ID is 109B which comes back to Gemlight Computers Ltd which mfg USB for OEMs.
edit - Hisense does not have anything for this tablet on either their international site or their US site aside from a press kit.

I believe you're right about needing the ADB drivers from Hisense, hopefully over the next few days, it will materialize on their site. I guess they felt we needed to download their presskit instead of drivers or firmware.
Anyway, maybe it's worth trying Koush's Universal ADB drivers? Possibly one in the list will work with this.

I want to build a android 4.4 kernel for my iRola DX752 7" tablet (formerly known as a Kocasco M752) using Eclipse ADT etc. but I am practically a newbee at this. I figure if I brick it I am only out $50. It currently runs Android 4.2.2 with system updates that I can't count on bringing me up to more current releases, and it runs a Rockchip RK2926 Cortex-A9 CPU with 512MB RAM, 2GB internal SD and a 16GB external SD card.
I have rooted a smart phone without bricking it, but that was with a couple three premade kernels to update with and can not find any for this make or model tablet.
Tablet
Well my friend.. I can help you with that but just a single question.. Is the tablet good? No problems at all? If is good I will buy and we can make even ROMs together...
Just tell me if the tablet is good and what problems you encountered using it.:highfive:
does this thing come unlocked? How hard is it to root and is there any roms?
irola
Let me know if you make a ROM. I want to buy this tablet but it seems like it lags and its slow on the stock 4.2.2 ROM.
Very nice tablet
I purchased two for my kids and one came in the other day. I am very surprised about how well it is made. It doesn't feel like a cheap tablet. I would also be interested in a custom rom for this as well.

I ordered one for my daughter for Christmas. It is still in it's original packaging and I was lurking here to see if anyone had ideas for rooting it. From the specs it seems to have decent hardware so I am confident that it should perform well even though we haven't tried it out yet. I gave her one of my older Viewsonic tablets that's rooted and with a custom ROM. I may buy another one of these iRola tablets if I like the core stock install and then I will join you in creating some root magic for it..
im trying to install windows 8

If you are seriously thinking of rooting this hit me up we can work together. That makes 3 of us working on it. I was trying to hack it to install windows 8.
Did anyone get anywhere with this tablet? Mine came in this morning. It's a little sluggish, but I have decent hopes for it.

Has this development went any further? I'd also be happy to test or help build in any way that I can.
I just got one of these
I just got one of these for my daughter, but it has the Jellybean that has trouble with Wifi... it won't connect to my home Wifi router at all, and drops the connection regularly at work.
So, I want to get a different version of Android on this thing. Has anyone succeeded yet?
I doubt it's the hardware, as I have friends who had the same problem on their phones until they upgraded their version of Android.
I'm unfamiliar with development, but would also be happy to test. From what I can tell, this thing has a memory issue. We need to get something lighter on it.

Put me on the list of people curious about development for this device. Just picked one up as a gift for a my sister and agree it seems a little more sluggish than I thought it would. Also the screen resolution is kind of poor and was hoping that maybe changing the DPI could help if it were rooted.
i haven't received mine
I order mine back on Nov 22, I haven't received it. I've been itching to root this. Ugh come on N MR send me my tablet. Has anyone have problems with NMR shipping before. ????
Just got mine. It's so sluggish...
I don't understand how, even after a factory reset, this thing is ridiculously slow. I have googled and googled but I can't find any information on how to root this device or even if it's possible yet. I really wanna downgrade the software to something it's more comfortable running. Maybe 4.0.4?
If you haven't received your tablet I implor that you contact NMR ASAP. They didn't send my fiances mothers 3 irola 7" tablets ordered later Nov. until yesterday Dec. 23.
I will also be working on this tablet as I just got it as a present from her So make that 4.
I also just bought this tablet (irola dx752) running android 4.2.2. I have never had a tablet before but it does not seem slow or laggy. I am familiar with linux (someone asked that earlier in this thread) and I am interested in getting into android development. Also happy to test (not intending to brick of course).
hello all, I just got my Sero 7 Pro, so far I am only charging it.
I was wondering what are some of the best suggested things to do to it? for example, for future proofing? I was just wondering, if like my ipod touches, to save the SSH blobs was suggested prior to updating and then every update...is there something like that for these?
this is also my first Android device as well...so I'm about as green as green can get ... I have an ELM327 Bluetooth device I was hoping to use with Torque on this device too.
any info and suggestions would be awesome, thanks.
Got my zero a weak ago. I recommend nvision (nvidia's app) highly. Belkin's 7" universal keyboard case does fit the zero, barely, and it won't close properly. Im debating weather I should try to modify it out maybe return it and get the bigger android keyboard for ten dollars less (it was a gift). Nothing else worth sharing except drippler.

thanks allot for the help and tips, I'll be sure to keep those in mind.
I was also wondering if there was any reason to back up anything prior to updating, if there is an update for it when I boot it up for the first time.
thanks,

I haven't experience any problems with the updates yet, but it doesn't hurt to have a back up just in case.

thanks, what is the best app for backing up the sero 7 pro? and does it back up everything, like a ghost image? or just similar to *dare I say it* itunes back up? LOL....
TIA
A lot of people use Titanium Backup (often just called TB). You will have to root your device to use it, but it does a very good job.
