Can this be done? Without having to drag them all out and then in again, in the right order.

No, you can't.
try appZorter, it let you sort applications. As I've tested it with the stock TouchWizz, it's ok and sort files in folders too.

Or try another app launcher, like Nemus Launcher.
It is a free app from the Market.

i purchased an app called call custom launcher icons. it has lots of icons though repeated in diffrent colors. It has some custom drawers too. all i did was long press on the icon i wanted to change (on the app drawer) then when next pop up asking what i wanted to change i pressed icon pic. then it asked where I wanted to look for it I chose the custom launcher icons and scrolled through the icons till i found the one i wanted to use, pressed it and after a few seconds i had a custom icon on the app drawer.
I'm pretty sure I have that app as well and it doesn't work like that!!!

Did you ever figure out the answer to this? I can change icons on homescreen but not in the drawer. What am I missing? Thanks. -GEF
Excuse me if im in the wring section but i know we have touchwiz 4 ports already but this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050817 has really awesome icons. Its a shame its on the I9000 already. Any way of porting that same exact one onto the vibrant?
it ofen FC for me
this is very easy to accomplish

If you want the icons, download the icon pack found in that link. As far as I know, the only difference in that launcher is the icons. Just change the icons for the apps and it will look identical.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
that does have good icons....
I already have the pack I just need to know how to change them. Its a touchwiz launcher, not adw or launcher pro

It's depend on what rom you have on your phone. If you are using Bi-Winning V3 or (Project-V prior to the new release of 06/05/2011), I already posted the TW4 along with the color icons. You can click the link below my signature.

Find the apps you want to change; messaging, contacts, dialer tab activity, any others you want to change. Use 7zip and open the archive. Go to Res/drawable hdpi and find the app icon. Take the icon you want to replace it with and rename it to the name of the original app icon. Drop it in the the hdpi folder and your done.

Use root explorer and go to: system/app. Find the apps you want and copy and paste them to your internal or external. Take them from the SD, and place them on your PC. Then do the 7zip.

Is there anyway to remove the stock messaging icon? I use SMS Pro for texting and would like to replace it with the SMS Pro icon. Is this possible?
Hint! Press settings inside the app.

You can change the dock icons by going into the app drawer, press menu, view type, and select customizable grid. Then you can drag which ever app you want to replace the stock app. I then switch it back to alphabetical grid, but that isn't necessary

Be careful ... uninstalling stock apps can have unintended consequences and issues. Its best to hide them in a folder, or ignore them.

Is there a way to change the icons on the bottom of the phone? The ones right above the capacitive buttons.

You should be able to hold and drag any icon out of the the app drawer right on them.
Edit:maybe not

If you just want to change out the apps, open your app drawer, hit the menu button and select edit. From there it's just drag and drop.
If you want to change the actual icon of the existing app, then you need to use something like APKtool to decompile, edit and recompile the app.

Not sure about the stock launcher but if you change launchers most have way you can swap what's there or replace the image. I usually clear them out and use desktop Visualizer to change them. Drag and drop
