I'm a little scared to ask this on the official thread so hear goes. How do I add accounts to CM7? I mostly need my gmail account to sync with my phone, but it would also be nice to have Facebook as well. I'm guessing a good start would be to install the google applications. Any help is much appreciated.
install GAPPS (google apps), then install facebook app.

Okay so I'm using the 2.1 ROM, mainly for the use of bluetooth and I want to intergrate my facebook with my contacts to let me use their photos and birthday.
The problem is, when I sign in to Facebook via the contacts it intergrates ALL my facebook friends to my contacts! I end up with about 300 people in the list!
Are there any solutions to this, or is anyone else experiencing it?
Same problem. I did find a way to change it, but do not ask me what the chuffing heck I did to do that :S
i think the best way is to not sign in to facebook during the initial set up. once you are all set up, launch the facebook app that comes with 1.7, and select sync with existing contacts only.
seems to work ok.

My facebook account from the Facebook for Android app doesn't want to add to My Accounts properly. I'm going to try and explain this in detail, and hope that I'm not the only one with this problem.

No motoblur frozen except for whatever Gingerblur did.
I log out of "Facebook for Android" and goto Settings > Accounts (Only motoblur and Google account are there)
Goto Add Account > Facebook (not the motoblur one; the bottom one)
It opens the facebook app, then asks me to login (so I do)
It brings me to the help and tips page where I click finish
It takes me to my news feed without adding the account
If I login and press the back key on the tips page, it gives me the option to choose what I want to sync, however when I choose, it takes me to the tips page (or back key to the previous page) and clicking finish STILL doesn't add the account.
If I goto add the account when I'm already logged in, the selection will just light up when I click it, and won't load the facebook app at all.
I've even tried SBF flashing back to stock and retrying all these steps at various stages of my "reinstalling everything" process.
Twitter adds itself fine automatically after I login to the app itself.

sbf will fix fb sync issues. Some mods and roms will break fb. If you want fb sync: sbf, gladroot, update, retain root. I can confirm you can be on the newest firmware w/ root and working fb sync. But any other mods or roms after that could potentially break fb sync, and from looking around the forums it seams a majority do break it.

Nope, since facebook took out that feature after android warned them about it breaching their terms and conditions.

I am on Android since about 2 months, using a HTC Desire S. As I am allergic with Sense, I direclty installed a custom rom, from wich I deleted useless applications to me.
This is when I figured out that deleting Gmail will prevent the calendar to work ("You have no calendars").
So I got connected to my Gmail account from the web (created especially to access the android market), and I noted that my calendar were syncronized, and worst, that all my contacts from the phone were there too.
I am not quite parano, but I'd like to know if there is a way to keep the calendar and contacts only on the phone.
Autosync is disabled on my phone, but it had probably been enabled on the early days, so would disabling the auo sync prevent FOREVER my calendar and contacts to be uploaded to gmail, and manly, is it possible to use the calendar without installing the gmail apk ?

Can't tell you about what the sync is doing, because I honestly do not care, so I haven't looked into it, BUT what I can tell you is that the calendar works beautifully eventhough I don't have GMail installed.

Well then...
I found somethin' about these apks :
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk
GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk
But I did not delete them, I can find them on my /system/app/ folder, when I tried to install them it asked me if want to replace it, I said Yes but then I have the report with the green check (as a good thing happened), but next to it it's writtent "Application not installed"...
Well it did nothing I think but this doesn't seem to be my issue, as they are already there.

What I had to do, is simply go in the "account & sync settings" menu, click on my gmail account (synced off) and then launch a calendar sync...
So this is a force go, if you want to use calendar, you need to sync it at least once.
Quite fair but could be better, even Bada needs a Samsung account to use the store since Bada 2.0...
hello everyone. I recently bought an HTC wildfire and then rooted it via unrevoked. then I got cyanogen mod 7 and changed the rom to gingerbread from stock froyo. everything is working fine except my Google account doesn't sync with the phone. wats app and Facebook are
working ok. I desperately need help in this regard.
Have you tried to remove your account and sign in again or have you rebooted your phone and then tried?

there is no default option for syncing the account. and yes i have tried restarting it. when I installed apps like Facebook or whats app they made an account sync option automatically in the accounts and sync menu. but Google account sync option is nowhere to b found.. there is only corporate account option there. I'm using Nightingly buzz rom.

I recently bought the mi pad 4 and so far I'm pretty happy with it. I downloaded the Google play store installer from xiaomi's webpage and so I got the play store up and running.
However the calendar and contacts app by Google don't seem to connect to my Google account. Contacts stays empty (only showing the few contacts that use telegram) and the calendar app shows a placeholder account, look at the attached image.
I would really like to also use those two apps on my tablet and would love if someone could help me.

i was facing the same problem, here was how i solved it:
Give all permission, or at lease the permission to modify your contact, to Google Account Manager, Google contact sync and the Google contact app.
Allow these app to started by other apps, in the startup settings.
Also I tried to install google contact sync version 9 but it doesn't work, i downgrade to 8 and contact appear in the google sync option.
As for the calendar issue, try login within the calendar app.
Try to install Google Calendar and Phone apps and they will ask for activating the calendar and contact sync. Of course you need to say "yes".
The above method works for me.
didn't get the prompt to grant certain permissions for those apps, but finally I've managed. Alot of permissions had to be granted manually to both contacts and calendar app and google services.

I was able to make Calendar work using this method but I can't fix Contacts using this method. I wonder if I use xiaomi.eu ROM, will it fix contacts and calendar problems?
