[Q] Cannot install xRecovery on Xperia X10 On stock 2.3.3 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello i have tried 2 different methods of installing xRecovery.
First i have tried simply using flashtool to install xRecovery, but just gets stuck on Remounting system read-write.
Second i downloaded the zip file of xRecovery (Gingerbread) And put files into the respective folders using root explorer. Still no luck
Am i missing something? Thanks in advance

Yeah, there's two methods regarding how to get xrecovery onto GB does require a bit of youtube watching but i found it the easiest way of doing this 0.3 xrecovery version alone will not give u it you will need an additional zip to obtain it. If you head into the x10 general section look for the sticky how to flash custom roms for noobies (im a noob also) it will tell you step by step to get every working from backing up to xrec to flashing roms to restoring apps there will be 3 youtube vids in the first post vids 1 and 2 will tell you what u need to know the third is mainly for the rom.
like i said there's two ways of doing it the second way which i had to do was via computer using command prompt but as i said watch the vids they have all links on the youtube channel.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Yes I hace viewed the videos but it installs xrecovery through the apk which when I use it says that the folders exist and have the no symbol when I press install

Here, take a look at this thread:

Also try to open Root Explorer and click on Mount R/W.

Yes I have tried changing it to r/w using root explorer but no luck

[SCRIPT] All in one solution for root and xrec on 2.0.2.A.0.24

Hi,
I've made a script to install xrecovery, root and fix busybox after updating to 2.0.2.A.0.24
I have packed it into an exe for your ease. Of course I know you'll want a virusscan so I've added links on the bottom. It's just a extracting sfx archive so if you have knowledge with that you can just extract it and see, if you don't trust me
x10 Mini VirusScan @ virusscan.jotti.org
I've updated the archive, it now removes temporary files used on your sdcard and I fixed an issue, tested and it's working 100% now! Downside is virsusscan is outdated, just let me know if I have to put up a new one.
Thanks to:
zdzihu for xrecovery,
CLShortFuse for SuperOneClick
Shivenjuenja for the SuperOneClick Mod which allows rooting on 2.0.2.A.0.24
Great Job!!!
I really appreciate your work buddy........This will help many people.........I can't test it becoz i already have these thing, but really you are good job!!!!

I made this for myself because I'm trying to port FroYo over and thus need to do lot's of reinstalls, but I thought hey, let's release it for the community.

Great work bro.

The script has been updated to remove temporary files used on the sdcard. This means the virusscan is outdated, but if you insist I'll post another scan.
The script has been updated again, I placed the remount at a wrong timing. I just checked the script and it's 100% working now!
can u please post the steps on how to use it?

Simple, extract the .zip and then click on the .exe.
Follow the on screen instructions from there!
"ENABLE ADB ON THE PHONE THROUGH SETTINGS" means click Settings -> Application Settings -> Development and put a tick in the "USB Debugging" box.
BTW: Good job chap! @Mikevhl
This sure sounds like a treat! - If I only had this a few days ago - I would have saved hours of debugging...
Nice contribution - I'll probably get to test it soon enough (If/when I mess up the current ROM) :E
That's the spirit Mikevhl!

Hi,
can this be used on 2.1.1.A.0.6?
Best wishes
this is awesome stuff but i'm either missing the obvious or it hasn't installed xRec.
root worked fine. busybox enabled (according to titanium backup), but can't see xRec anywhere.
same problem here.
same for me, no xrecovery
works great thanks for your work. Can you update it so it puts cwm instead of xrec?
Man thank you, it saved my life, I tried install xrecovery manually 2 days, but it did it in 3-4 minutes

cant root my samsung galaxy showcase sch-i500

Hello i am new to this website and i was wanting to know how to root my samsung galaxy showcase sch-i500 from c-spire wireless.I had my phone rooted before i upgraded to gingerbread the other day.I have found some directions on the website but i guess i am not doing them right.I downloaded the gingerbreak from chasefire and i scaned it with my phone but it is showing as wall papper on my applications any help would be appreciated and sorry for asking this question if it has already been asked thanks
Try this app
This is the easiest one I'd used to root my Fascinate I500, But remember to manually restart your phone by removing your battery and putting it back in. For some reason it's not doing that at the end of the process. Good luck.

Rooting i500
Did you ever get root enabled, I imagine you tried superoneclick and it failed. If you didn't get root I can help. It requires cwm and a root-package zip that you flash with cwm.
Problems rooting
I think it may have worked for the original poster but i am having BIG problems rooting my phone from cspire. The one click does not work and i have tried three other ways to do it. I am able to get recovery console access but past that nothing has happened. I followed the instructions at galay forums.net (wont let me post link but when i got to the part where i install the "su-x.x.x.x.zip" file i get the message "installed successfully. enjoy!" but when i reboot to try to go to the next step it always reboots into the recovery. Please help!

Yes I used the recovery flash (red clockwork mod) to flash the zip you uploaded for me. It says that it installs and that there are no problems but when I back out and reboot it will just boot back into clockwork rather than into the android os. The closest I've had it to booting right was using the su.x.x.x.x.zip file but when that was used my phone just boot looped (samsung logo boot up bid sanding logo for about two minutes reboot rinse and repeat)

If you're still locked bootloaded, You can update your rooted x10 first to official 2.3.3GB via SEUS/Sony PC Companion to get latest 2.1.71baseband and semc kernel, most customs needs 2.1.71baseband requirement anyway. So save your work time little. And yes, you need to root again but for best use suitable flashtool for root 2.3.3 once updated. Then you will be able get xrecovery installed for your X10 after rooted and done installing it. My signature link got those tutorial pdf, necessary tool download links. Although older version, but safer Feel free visit them, and if they're helpful, please kindly hit thanks in thread, for keeping them alive for future newcomers Cheers and goodluck.
Sincerely,
Whitefang

Ok thanks.Would unrooting it work out the same as going back to stock.I have nand backups of siyah kernel and stock kernel, and Ive reset the counter/triangle away.
Could I follow this guide and it would ok for going back to samsung and retain my warranty

update;
I have managed to unroot the phone but I cant seem to root it again......very strange.I have tried following this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719 but there is a problem.
when I install the cwm zip(think its v5.8),I basically cant do anything in its menu.It only scrolls down once in the menu, then hangs/freezes.Once it did work and I was trying to install the busybox stuff, but it couldnt find anything to install.I cant remember but I did see a " e:verification signature error".
So I tried to root using odin and basically it wont flash the required .tar file for rooting successfully and Ive got to keep reflashing the stock .tar file...
Has anyone encountered these problems before.

How did you try to scroll, with volume up/down? If I am not mistake this CWM is a touch version
It was just the basic one.I've never seen recovery acting the way that version was doing.Out of the 6 options I could only scroll to 3 of them, and it wouldn't go near the other 3 options.
I eventually fixed the problem by trying combos with pressing the power and home buttons, and I think I got the other file in that link installed(the root). Then I stuck on siyah(c/w the touch recovery you said),which meant I could reinstall everything by the nand backup.
I can't remember if I got out of the other part of the recovery problem(verification) by getting the 2nd file from the internal memory and flashed that successfully.

The easiest way to root a Xperia mobile is as following
First unlock bootloader that you can do using official Sony site
Then instal Flashtool from androxide's official site
Then instal it on your PC . Go to c drive of your PC, then you will see a folder named Flashtool there you will see a folder named drivers instal drivers of Xperia mini x10 ( as it is same as your live with Walkman)
Download rage kernel from net its a custom kernel which has CWM and su binaries .copy it to your desktop
Now connect your mobile in your PC with holding volume up button a blue led will glow showing your mobile in fastboot mode. If it is win 7 it will install ADB drivers by itself if it is win xp then download PDA net on PC and install it it has ADB drivers.
Now after all this the rooting is very easy it won't result in bricking as it is the safest method
Connecting you phone in fastboot mode click open Flashtool and then click flash icon on top left select fastboot mode then another page will open select kernel to flash . Browse kernel it will be boot.img which you have kept on desktop select and Flashtool will automatically instal it in your device. Check the log. It will say reboot your device. Then take it out and start tour phone. It will show blue led after boot press volume up or down you will see cwm recovery.
Means you have rooted phone
