How do I overclock? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I'm kind of new to this whole table thing, but I was wondering if there was a step by step walk thru on how to overclock? Also, is it safe? Sorry, I know I'm a noob.
Anyways, thanks for the help

welcome to android. Here's what you need:
A rooted tab
a custom ROM or at least a custom Kernel that allows overclocking
SetCPU application.
If any part of this is unfamiliar to you then you've got some reading to do. There are plenty of step by step guides, so take your time, read a LOT before taking any steps, and ask questions once you've done enough reading to not sound like you need your hand held.

New phone and need a little assistance.

This is my first android phone. Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. I plan on rooting my phone tomorrow and I was wanting to put 2.2 firmware on the phone. I have been told that there are different roms and such and I was hoping someone here could tell me which is the best way to go about upgrading my phone. I tried reading some threads but I am not sure which is the best way to go. Any help would be appreciated.
If you've never rooted your phone and installed a custom ROM before... Read, read, read these forums and especially the thread for the ROM you are thinking of installing. Know how to get yourself out of a jam before you even get in it.

After reading this and understanding a few things, you should be able to flash new roms, backup, restore, fix a brick, etc.

+1...This is what I followed when I flashed my wifes vibrant awhile back, and followed again just a few days ago when I picked mine up.
As for 2.2 ROMs...you will just have to play with them. I would recommend starting with flashable ROMs as they are a little easier to work with if you do not have a lot of experience with flashing
I might suggest this one if you want a no frills basic 2.2 stable, rooted ROM to work with

Thread cleaned. Stop the flaming.
Thanks for the replies! I will start off with that nice guide on how to root the phone. I get the phone tomorrow so hopefully I will not be in here crying about how I ruined my phone. The last phone I modded was the first gen iPhone a few years back. There are so many different things to read that this is a little confusing. I mostly created this thread to get pointed to what works best for those on this forum.

Newbie here....Guide me!

I'm planning to modify my Archos 101. Got this this website about the rooting process. Before I go to rooting, I want you guys to know my plans to mod my Archos 101, is to have much higher clock speed, not like the stock speed, also no limitations on installing App. Now I updated my OS to 2.1.04. I have no SDcard but mine has a 8GB Internal mem.
I found this forums, and I dont know where to start? Can you guys guide me to the right directions.

I'm kinda confuse, after I found this posts... please guide me before I do some rooting.. Thank you masters...
Also what is the advatage of rooting my device... i'm kinda curious? I love to use all the potential of device. Is this the same?
Why would you want to root your device if you don't even know what the benefits or drawbacks of rooting it are?!? Are you so desperate for root that you are ready to void your warranty or install a possible trojan?? I suggest you get familiar with the capabilities of your device before trying to "mod" it in any way. Maybe it will suffice for you without the need to root. If not, you should read all you can on the subject before asking for help, there's a lot of information on the subject already. Someone who needs their hand held shouldn't be attempting to root the Archos.

Do we have freedom of choice here...? The reason why I want to root my device, I already read "some" of the benifits... The only thing I need is to make it faster or some sort... Some can run 1200mhz, or 1280mhz. Mine is only running 800-1000mhz. Some has custom desktop... mine is only plain stock, some can install a lot Apps by increasing ROM. Do you understand what I'm trying to express... I'm just asking for help... I'll be not blaming you and other pips... I only need is guidance and just simple tweaks.... Thats all... Please help are In need... Warranty? I thought you can bring it back to the original? and it will not brick, right? So please XDAdevelopers pimp my Archos....!

I have confirm the above thread is very easy to temporary root or permanent root (without CPU speed up). I have recommend you to read this thread first.
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895599
This thread look like difficult for new user and must have some knowledge about linux command.
3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897877
This thread very easy to temporary root and you can use SETCPU to speed up CPU. I love this thread but it not ability to permanent root.
Note: I had decided to root my device by myself and I don't mind about warranty

Hey all,
Long time lurker and crack flasher here. I have a proposition for everyone here at our beloved Fascinate forums. I would like to compile a Master Beginners Guide/ Troubleshooting Guide for everyone here on the forums. I am more than willing to take care of this and plan on putting in quite a few walkthroughs/links myself but I would also appreciate it if everyone could help me gather up everything they can find and PM me the details.
On a selfish note, I have a new Fascy arriving tomorrow from Verizon and obviously want to get back modding and romming ASAP. I was wondering if someone could show me the best walk through for flashing current roms, installing kernels, installing tweaks, installing themes, a brief description of all the commands in CWM (i.e. Formatting system. partition, etc) when to do backups, do's and don'ts and any other general tips for working with a clean slate. Thank you all in advance and I look forward to maintaining this thread and cutting peoples search time from hours to minutes. Thanks again.

[Q] Where I begin to build my Lollipop rom?

Hi boy,
I want to create my own custom rom (for nexus 4),nothing complicated (for now ).
Here there are a lot of big developers that i I respect a lot and for this i want to ask you the process I have to do or guides that I follow.
In this week I've find a lot of tutorial but i don't know if they are compatible with lollipop and the tests I've done have all gone wrong.
If one of you show me a guide to follow, it would follow having at least make sure to get the results and did not waste time to have followed a guide incompatible or old.
I know C#, java and C but i can study other languages.
I apologize if you find this post trivial, is that I really want to learn but i'm only 17 years old and it is not easy to understand English.
I rely on you, thanks! :fingers-crossed:

Flashing custom ROM

I would like to root my Galaxy s5 and flash a custom ROM. But I'm having a hard time understanding the process. I need an idiot's guide to the whole process or a step by step guide. Can anybody point me in the right direction.
Thanks for nothing xda forum. Sorry this newbie wasted your time asking for help!
