My Samsung Galaxy S2 rebooted once or twice a week.
Reboot occured when I opened the dolphin hd browser (after waked up the phone) or when I started an other progrem AFTER the browsing.
I uninstalled dolphin hd and no reboots at all.
Is it possible that Dolphin HD caused the problem???

You tried to reinstall it?

Think different!
If Dolphin HD has issues on your phone, change your phone or just use another browser.
There are many alternatives, such as Opera, Firefox, etc.
And please report your problems directly to [email protected].
P.S.: Didn't you like the internal browser?
great
cool awesome

No, I hate the stock browser and loved Dolphin
Why?
- Lastpass support (addon)
- Tabs
- Design
- cache managment
- easyer user agent managment (addon)
etc. etc.

Hi! Thanks for your suggestion. After the first reboot I made a factory reset and reinstalled only the most important programs (dolphin and a few others...), I also cleared the content of the built in sd.

Yes, Dolphin HD caused reboots on mine too (Opera Mobole just once) both on stock and MIUI Rom. Think it's a compatibility problem, maybe with S2 and the dualcore architecture

Well,
3 (with me) - Problems with Dolphin
1 - no problem
It's a strange issue (if it is realy due to Dolphin).
I wrote a letter to dolphin support team also.
Is it possible that an app causing reboot AFTER we closed it?
It probably can if it stays in the background, but not completly sure about this.
My S2 used to reboot a few times a day and then it suddenly stopped .
I ve never had Dolphin HD installed.
I figured this out a few months ago as well I tried numerous troubelshooting methods to narrow the reboots down. Finally after removing dolphin hd some time ago I never get reboots anymore. I'm glad this thread seems to confirm it. I thought I had a bad device for quite some time but am glad it was just software
I had rebooting issues (probably from dropping it once too many times). Solution was to open it up and pop off and reseat every ribbon cable. Turned out my radio cable was loose (from mobo side to bottom antenna unit). Just worked for me...

It is the reason, why I opened this thread.
Let's see.
-4 of us have problem with DolphinHD.
-For 3 of us the rebooting stopped after uninstalling Dolphin HD.
-2 people hava no problem with dolphin HD
(one with custom rom)
I've got a mail from Dolphin Support.
They relased a hotfix.
It is possible that hotfix will solve the problem, but I'm a little bit sceptical.
I'm still testing the phone without D HD. 56H uptime.
Anybody else with reboot problems (and Dolphin installed)???
anybody else?

I've tried two Rezounds this week, and get browser crashes on both. It seems pretty random, but usually happens after using the browser for 5-10 minutes.
It's happened a few times in here and when browsing through Howard Forums.
I guess I'll need to download Dolphin browser and see if it crashes too.

i haven't had the browser crash, but i have had weird things happen...
sometimes i'll click on a link, and nothing seems to happen.. i'll think 'huh? did it not register?' and then all of a sudden it's on the new page fully loaded.
also, there's times when i'll click on something and it'll think i clicked on a link right above where i actually did click. (and yes i've tried calibration & also using the gingerbread keyboard)
well, considering mine has a dead pixel anyway i'm just going to exchange it.
I went to dolphin h d browser soon as I could, I couldn't stand the original browser the way it cut off the notification bar.

The 1st Rezound I tried also had a dead pixel almost right in the center of the screen, but the 2nd unit doesn't have any dead pixel.
I have also noticed when using the web browser that when I click on link, it may just sit there. When I click on the link again, nothing happens. I have to go back one page and then forward for the link to open.

Another issues I've noticed is that sometimes pictures don't load in the browser and show a question mark. Pressing on the Refresh icon usually fixes it.
But this has also happened when using the Facebook app, as some pictures just don't show unless you exit and restart the app.

I too thought it was my phone..I had still have this issue, three phones later, and it still exists..I use Chrome Browser now and Facebook works fine but wouldn't you think there would be a "fix" for something like this..Problem is, not enough people give a sh*t about this..Just sayin'...
Experiencing same problems with Dolphin Browser HD... anytime I try to go to a specific post (e.g. a status update or a photo) Dolphin freezes up.
Haven't had the same trouble with Chrome; however, for some reason on Chrome all photos are tiny. As in, "I can't identify people" tiny.
Ever since Honeycomb, the absolute biggest problem I've had with this tablet is the browser. It doesn't freaking stay open. No matter what browser I use, no matter if I'm running Honeycomb, ICS or Jellybean, the browser always crashes. And it's not a typical FC either; It just closes right back to Launcher.
I've been hearing that it's caused by some null pointer exception in JavaScript; But you mean to tell me between Android 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 4.0 - 4.0.4 and 4.1, 4.1.1, that this issue STILL isn't resolved? Not to mention, it only happens on tablets (Tegra 2 issue? Xoom has the same issue).
For me, it most notably happens when I'm browsing a Twitter page. In the past minute alone, I've had browser crash on my SIX times trying to load a page on Twitter. Let's make that 7 now.
So what the hell really causes this, and why won't it go away? My Sensation and myTouch 4G can browse just fine, and this temporary Galaxy S III works perfectly too, so what's with the tablet?
EDIT: Disabled JavaScript and set plugins to ondemand. Same damn result.
I've used the stock browser, Dolphin, Chrome, and Skyfire and none of them have ever crashed on me. Ever. Sounds like there is either something defective about your device perhaps your internet connection. A factory reset might help, as might going into applications, finding the Google framework and clearing data. Do the same for your browsers as well.
That's funny, I've noticed just the same thing. Browsers work terribly on this tablet.
With me, they only do crash sometimes – a lot more than on my HTC phone, though. But using browsers is a real pain, as they all feel kinda buggy, and I don't think it's their fault, since they all show the same "bugs". They're all kinda laggy. I've updated to ICS today and I was crying in emotion for being able to finally download Chrome, as it's the most stable one I've ever used in my phone, but I was disappointed when I noticed it too felt quite laggy. I'd rather go home and turn my Mac on than to struggle with web browsing on this tablet, honestly. I've tried many browsers –*stock, Dolphin, Boat, that other one with green icon, and also Skyfire or something.
If anyone has a better thing, or a solution, or anything, I bet there are many desperate people that would die to hear it.
(I know I sound more dramatic than I should, but let's face it, web browsing sucks in this device.)
I've never had any problem web browsing on my Tab. None. I'm not rooted, maybe that's why, or maybe it has to do with the sites you visit. Dunno.
On my tab with HC 3.2, the stock browser would also just disappear to the home screen, but not all that often.
I flashed to ICS, and the stock browser got a bit quirky. The address bar would no longer hide when I scrolled down
on a web page. Would stutter as if it was trying to hide but wouldn't.
Installed Dolphin and it worked fine.
I went back to HC 3.2 (had some other issues besides the browser) and so far the stock browser is working fine.

Dolphin does the same thing though, just a lot less frequently. Motorola Xoom users in a thread from a year ago reported this same problem (in a filled up 14 page thread), and several of users report the same exact issue. I'm gonna poll some more Tegra 2 sections and see if they suffer from the same thing but it looks like this is just another issue with this ****ty SoC, like the portrait mode lag.

Come on dude, I'd have to be rooted to be running Jellybean. And as everyone else has shown, it does seem to vary by website. Full pages on twitter ALWAYS crash, (they work once in a blue moon). Other times browser crashes when browser feels like it hasn't crashed in a while. I could get through a day perfectly, then bam, crash.
I'm not a dude.

Yes Google.ca. The browser just shut down without a force close notice and opens blank. Plus it becomes non responsive, on pages that have a lot of javascript.

That specifically happens the second time. On the first crash, I'd relaunch and it would reload my pages, but 99/100 times it would crash seconds afterward. Upon opening it again, i get one tab with the Google homepage.

I'm biased because I've never had any problems with my browser crashing? Whatever. I also never "went crazy" over anything. All you do is complain and complain. Why not just get an iPad and move on?
I have tried several browsers also, and for me I really only have problems with chrome freezing (not force closing). It seems to be random, but happens more frequently when opening new tabs. However, the stock browser on the same sites seems to work every time. My guess is that it may be due to timeouts on the network connection or possibly memory related. And, it seems to be random... I may go a day without a freeze, then have two back to back freezes. Oh tegra2, why don't you behave?

Chrome is the way to go. The ability to create an account and sync all relevant browser data to your devices via the cloud - why hasn't anyone thought of this before? So obvious and useful.
I also strongly recommend trying out Boat Browser, which is highly underrated. Smoother and smarter layout than Dolphin and the best alternative to Chrome, IMO.

Chrome acts really weird on JB. I'm still running pershoot's 8/4 build but I'll be updating and trying out Chrome again. Last time I tried it I would always get a white page while switching tabs, and scrolling was odd. Browser does a much better job but Chrome has too much nice functionality lol

I doubt it's memory relate, it happens a lot with 1 tab open, and with a full Gig of RAM, browsing should be painless when it comes to memory management, not to mention, but Android's memory management scheme is the most beautiful thing I've seen. Tabs and apps actually know how to stay open, and Android knows what to close. Works a lot better than any tablet I've used, even better than crapple's iPad.
When I first bought the Galaxy tab 10.1, I believe it was on honeycomb. I usually use it for youtube and games. Once I updated it to ice cream sandwich, whenever i watched youtube videos it always lags and never runs smoothly like it used to. I tried fixing it by factory resetting it but it would still constantly lag. Would downgrading back to honeycomb ?

Ok, I have tried this video and there is no lag on my device. Played in the App and in the Dolphin browser in both SD and HD, though in HD the video paused a few times due to it buffering as my internet connection is only 1.8mb/s
I wiped my device completely (wiped data/cache/dalvik) using CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4 to install my roms. I was previously on Tasks650 ICS Rom. Used Titanium backup only to restore apps and app data, not system data. Also using SetCPU to processor to 200/1200Mhz with the governor set to interactive. All settings are default in the Yoda 2.4 Kernel/Fourth Bar Revolution rom except for having Force GPU rendering enabled.
I've pretty much gotten rid of lag on my tab.
Im on a jb cm based rom
I have it overclocked to 1.6(a1 kernel) and have a governer that will get to that speed fast
Have force 2d gpu rendering unchecked
And now it will only lag if I bring up the notification bar or tap on the video.

Are you sure? Could you guys try that video above on your tablet AND your computer to compare if there DEFINITELY is no lag? No offence, but some people don't notice stutters and lags as much as some other people because not everyone is the same. iPad users are keen to smoothness of course so if there is a SLIGHT lag, they notice, but some people (not all) who have been using Android only for years don't notice as much. I don't know about you guys, so if you do think you are very keen on smoothness, please do tell me and I will try your setups for my galaxy tab (as I just finished restoring everything on mine and set up perfect so that I don't want to do it all over again, and also sometimes the CWM backup doesn't work properly for me).
Also, I thought overclocking to 1.6ghz would drain the battery really fast, no? I've never overclocked my tablet above 1.4ghz.
Thanks.

Same for me I believe. I've tried every single configuration I could (almost every single ICS and JB rome w/ A1 or Yoda's kernel w/ over clock w/ changing developer setting) but I ALWAYS have the lag if I use the test video I mentioned above..
One thing that's very odd is that MOVIE TRAILERS on Youtube app do not stutter or lag AT ALL. They are PERFECTLY smooth in HD. Also when you access the movie trailers from Google Play store's movie section, they are all SMOOTH as well. But other videos still have lag (how much lag depends on videos) if I go back to those..
Maybe someone can figure out a cause of this problem from above?
many thanks for your response, experience and test.
I am happy because I am not alone, with same problem to youtube HD stutter and lagly.
But after your all reply for now isn't possible to find a good and reliable solution.
You thinks is a bug to ICS and youtube ?
Thank you

I tried it again on both Tab 10.1 and 2 laptops (windows7 and Ubuntu), no lag in either app or browser. Did you factory reset and wipe all cache and data before installing the roms and kernels? Tried it with Dolphin browser? You could try it with a fresh rom install without restoreing any data, perhaps? Other than that I don't know what else to suggest.

I tried it again on both Tab 10.1 and 2 laptops (windows7 and Ubuntu), no lag in either app or browser. Did you factory reset and wipe all cache and data before installing the roms and kernels? Thanks for your help.
I have always wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, and battery stat before installing any rom, but do you also do SD card partition or something to wipe your storage as well? I've never wiped my storage since Honeycomb.
I'm not sure if that's going to help or not..and not sure what is the best way to do this..
Thanks.

Hello,
I emailed Samsung few days ago, and they replied, but he completely misunderstood my problem please read the email messages below. Thanks.
I dont know why you understood my problem as Adobe Flash problem.
IT IS NOT.
Im talking about HTML5 videos, in the official YouTube APP, and Netflix App. And also MOBILE YouTube website in the browser.
I dont care about Flash. I dont want it at all.
I want these mobile videos (HTML5) to be working as expected, just like it used to be in Honeycomb.
Please dont say that its a hardware limitation, as my crappy Chinese single core tablet with ICS plays HD YouTube videos without any problem. And please dont say that its the problem with the app, as its not just YouTube app. The lag/stutter also happens in Netflix and TED.
Please send this to the software department and other departments as well, as many people are having this problem. Just read the links I included in my previous message. There are 5 forum threads and counting.
I believe in Samsung.
Thanks,
****

Dear ****,
Thank you for contacting Samsung Customer Care.
We understand that you have an issue with flash videos on your TAB.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Beginning August 15th we will use the configuration settings in the Google Play Store to limit continued access to Flash Player updates to only those devices that have Flash Player already installed. Devices that do not have Flash Player already installed are increasingly likely to be incompatible with Flash Player and will no longer be able to install it from the Google Play Store after August. ............................................

Hi,
First of all, I couldn't find VIDEO section while choosing symptoms on this webpage, so I had to choose this one. This problem is actually a VIDEO PLAYBACK ISSUE. Please forward this to the correct department for me.
So since Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android 4.0 update, YouTube HD and Netflix HD videos have been lagging and stuttering really bad, especially music concert videos or game videos like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2YJggBVdeI
Some videos play fine, but most of them lag and stutter a lot and are choppy. I'm talking about HD ones.
Please check out these forum threads so that you will know a LOT of users are having this problem, and it's NOT a matter of factory resetting.

Note that one of the links is for Galaxy Tab 8.9, as it is basically the same except for the screen size.
Please see all the links, and see that many people are having this issue of video playback after ICS upgrade. It's not a hardware limitation. In Honeycomb, they played fine. And not to mention, a Chinese junk ICS tablet I have has a single core processor and it plays same videos perfectly smooth.
PLEASE let other people at Samsung know this problem, and PLEASE, PLEASE release a small update that fixes this problem. I'm NOT asking for a Jelly bean update or any other future Android version updates. I'm asking for a bug fix that's very important.
Please consider it.
Thank you so much,
****
@ sw6lee : thanks for your update. I very interesting future response to Samsung.
Regards,
Fifane
Super lag and glitchy. Touch iffy at best and keeps freezing. Too bad I like Dolphin but this is unusable.
Any ideas? Chrome works fine.

May have discovered the issue. For some reason this tablet REALLY does NOT like Dolphin Jetpack. Turn that off and all is well.

I thought I read that Jetpack was built into the latest Boat Browser so the add on package is redundant. I could be wrong.

Boat browser? It's built into latest Dolphin but you can disable it. Right now runs MUCH better disabled.

Sorry I meant Dolphin browser. I use Boat Browser just got mixed up.
The problems with Jet Pack I'm seeing:
1) Slow load times.
2) Touch simply stops working.
At this point it is very broken.
Send an email. to Dolphins development team. They are usually pretty good getting things up to speed for new devices. Just send them all the pertinent information and your issues.
Did you still have Dolphin V10.5? Dolphin V11.1.5 is already available now.
Maybe you can have a try to see if it solves this issue.

I think it may have updated automatically since my original post. I turned jetpack on and it seems to be acting little better now so maybe the update helped. Thanks for the idea.
Don't know what happened but Dolphin Jetpack seems to be acting much better today. No lag, no dead links, flash loads quickly. Weird because the Dolphin version number has not changed. Maybe Jetpack itself was fixed.
Interestingly this seemed to happen right after I installed boat browser and gave it a try. I've heard boat uses Jetpack. Perhaps it's version is better and fixed the Dolphin problems? Anyway the improvement is marked.
