Automatically installing apps after a hard reset - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I recently hard reset my HTC sensation phone. When I log on to Market Android on the Internet it says I have 33 installed applications (ones installed before the hard reset). Can I automatically install these apps without me having to go and manually install them one by one. I was told this should occur automatically but this did not happen with my phone.
Thanks in advance!

If you have backup your data to Google server, it will automatically download back when you sign in into phone.

That's what I thought would happen but it didnt. When I log on to : https://market.android.com/?hl=en via my laptop,
tt tells me that I have 33 apps installed. . After my hard reset when I signed in to my Market Place account on my phone, non of the apps were automatically installed

Do you have your phone check with the option "backup to Google server" before reset?

Yep I did check it

Are you rooted?
If so there are a few apps that will make the process much easier for you. Titanium Backup is the best imo, but another app called App Extractor just surfaced that has some awesome features too.

Factory reset. What does it do

Exactly? My phone is currently unlocked and rooted. What is going to happen if i do a factory reset (inside settings menu)? Will it unroot and un-unlock? Thanks in advance.
Sent from my GT-I9100M using XDA App
Nope, it'll just wipe user data (apps), settings and everything else. It'll put your phone just like the same as if you just took it out of the box.
It doesn't unroot nor unlock the phone.
So the CWM app will remain on the phone?
Say the phone is already reset, will i be able to find and install all my apps in the market after i log in to my google account?

Should do, and all contacts should be restored if you backup to google...

My way for doing this is to install every application from the market again, and then just restore app data with Titanium Backup. Try it for yourself and tell me if it helped. :3

Used To Happen With Me But Its Easy To Fix..
Make Sure Your Market Is Up To Date Which Is 3.44..
and then first do the same clear data and from manage application..
then open market choose your account (make sure its the one from which you downloaded those apps..)
then let it load go to my apps se whether its there if not wait for few hours and it will be done..
note- only those paid apps will be shown which you actually bought not the one you got from anywhere else even from the amazon app store..
Hit The Thanks Button If I Helped..
becaus ive flashed many roms Nd used many apps
on the market site at pc
ive got 583 pages of apps
anyone know how to delete all of those ?
its kinda irritating

Market Showing App purchased when I have not

Hi guys,
I have been facing this problem fro the day I bought my milestone and still on my razr. I want to buy some apps from Android market which I really like but it does not let me to buy as it says "purchased" when I have not purchased these. I tried to detach those apps frm market thru titanium backup pro but still no help. Pl help guys.. Thanks.
Sent from my XT910 using xda premium
I believe the app is tied to your google account so it doesn't matter what device you try to access it from, it will always show up as purchased. You'll have to set up a different account and purchase the app through that account in order to re-purchase it or attempt to purchase the app.
If I use other acc to purchase it then my other apps that I have purchased will not b synced with that AC so will make no sense. But thanks for the help. Any other way guys or is it I m the only who is facing this problem.

Those apps registered in market as bought or installed are linked to email account and device IMEI, cleaning data and cache will not erase this registry

What happens when you click on the app? It does not give the option to download?
yesh same thing is happening to me
It happens because you had previously this app installed illegal, I did the same, I wanted to test tapatalk and I downloaded full version from the internet. Now I can't buy tapatalk because Market showing is already bought, I can't download and I can't buy it. It's really sucks cause I don't want to use it illegal.
Yup same thing.. It gives u an option to download but says download failed..

I found solution:
(You need root to do it)
1. Download Market v. 2.3.6
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028491
2. Uninstall Market updates and clear data and cache. Rename Phonesky.apk (In my RAZR it's the name of market, could be Vending.apk in other ROM's)
3. Use Root Explorer or ES File Explorer and copy Vending2.3.6.apk to /system/app (set permission same as other apk's). Reboot RAZR.
4. Run Android Market and very quick try to buy app of your choice. I had to do it twice because I had force close after a minute, when FC happens clear Android Market data and try again. I had FC during tapatalk downloading, it's no problem I installed it after I restored latest Market.
5. When you finished, delete Vendink2.3.6.apk from /system/app rename Phonesky.ap to Phonesky.apk, reboot and thats it! Now I have tapatalk Purchased
Can't you go to market on your computer (not the phone app) and remove old devices from your list? I remember needing to do this to get, IIRC, google voice to work correctly with my new phone at the time.
I imagine I will have to do the same tonight when the Droid comes in the Fed up truck.
The only ones you should have to repurchase are the ones tied specifically to the phone's id. The others should show up under "my apps" for redownloading.
That's what got me through this situation when I had it before.

I'm having the same issue. In my case I purchased some apps from the Amazon App Store. Now I want to get rid of all the Amazon apps (their app market isn't all that great) and replace them with their Android Market versions.
So this problem can occur without anyone stealing anything, fyi.
ETA: I just checked, and games purchased through the Humble Android Bundle are similarly effected--The Android Market thinks you own them, but will not let you purchase them through the Market. Bummer!
Humble Bundle, GetJar, Amazon...
Any luck guys with fixing this?
I have the same freaking problem with getjar! Will try your market fix.

Thanks But Unfortunately Didnt Work So I'm Stuck.
You can try removing your account from your device and then sign in again. I get this problem quite frequently on my Note , and Sgs2. I believe removing your account from any Android device requires you to format it.

Uninstall the updates of the Play store from "Manage Apps". Or replace your current "Vending.apk" from system/app with a 2.x version of market . Then everything should work. Don't worry, it will be updated to Play Store in few minutes.
go into settings select apps then look for market select it n clear data, iftht still dont work u can just download the file apk from the internet

Barclays app backup with Titanium Backup?

Hi all. I have Barclays app installed and runs great without any issues (yes Rooted). But when I do a backup of the app so i can say eg flash a clean install of the same rom and then restore it. It no longer works? I have to call Barclays up and they have to delete my sign up info on there side so that I can do the first up again. This is the only thing stopping me getting Titanium Backup pro app as want to support the dev and use the app regularly. If anyone has any advice or a solution I would be very greatful

When you are restoring the Barclays app, don't restore the app data, just restore the app alone.
But I could download off Google play and enter details again. But I am hoping I can do a restore of the app and data to save entering the details in again

No. you can't do that. Apps like that wont accept using your old data in a way.

^^This.
Its the same with the natwest app. You cant restore backed up data for security reasons.
All I do is install the app, clear data and then launch app and set it back up, only takes a few seconds to get sms code and back in business.
Thanks for the answers and your time.
