If you need stock unrooted, just download the RUU.

Just an fyi...flashing a nandroid from a different phone is highly unrecommended
Why don't u just download and flash the stock ROM in the dev section?

because im unlocked with hboot 1.5 , so im afraid if i go back to stock, ill mess something up, ya know
You won't they have a stock rooted Rom in the Dev section. Besides ppl will be giving away their personal info they do that.
Not if all wiping was done, then did nandroid,i usually make a nandroid after a data wipe cuz its cleaner, so i was wondering if anyone rooted, factory reset then did nandroid....to give out to dev sectin....someone should do this with stock rom

Hi, I'm currently using the latest ClockworkMod as my recovery. I've never had any problem with it (had it on my og evo as well), but I'm hearing a lot of great things about twrp recovery, so I'd like to make the switch. I'm all clear on most of the process, but is it correct that I'll need to make new nandroid backups? If so, should I delete my cwm nands? How would I go about doing that? And am I correct that I'd need to revert to my stock (first) nandroid, flash the new recovery from there, make a new twrp nandroid, and then go back to cm7? Just want to be sure, as I know that nandroids are a lifeline and I don't want to screw anything up. Thanks in advance!

yes, on your sdcard/clockworkmod/backups

no, you can just make a nand with the new recovery of your current setup, no need to revert

Sounds good. What to do though if I need to ever go back to stock rom? (Unlikely anyhow). Will I be able to find a stock rooted rom in the dev forums?

I'm on the latest leak (or official if you prefer) rooted with s-off and CWM.
I'm getting terrible battery life and from what I have read, it could be a bad flash. Can I take the same rom I'm on, charge fully, and just flash it again in recovery? Or do I have to lock my bootloader and go back to stock recovery?
Thanks guys,
Just flash via hboot,it's a stock ruu, you'll have to re-root and reinstall your recovery.
Can I do all this while avoiding wiping or will it wipe everything when flashing?
I'll be honest, I have no clue if it wipes your data, it possibly does, so make a backup of your data partition, you can restore this after flashing, note to wipe battery stats after restoring.
flashing the ruu will erase everything and put the phone the way it was when you took it out of the box, so back up everything you dont want deleted
can someone post the latest official RUU

Do I need to restore the ROM I made my nandriod from first? Or can I restore my previous nandriod off any ROM I'm currently using?
I'm sure this has had to been asked before, but maybe I'm using the xda search wrong.
Thanks

Just wipe in Aron Ra and then restore from your nandroid. I commonly jump from Rom to Rom, just make sure you wipe in between.
Yupyup your nandroid reverts you to whatever that particular nandroid saved..

Thanks guys. I'm not sure what is wrong with my phone. Clean ROM 4.3 was the only one that would work for me, until this morning. I finally got RAGE1.8 to work. All other ROMs would boot loop, including all Clean ROMs after 4.3. I had been reinstalling Clean ROM and then restoring the nandriod, I'm glad I can skip one step if I need to go back.
Make sure you wipe before you restore a nandroid. If you don't it could cause it to bootloop.
Also if you're s on it could be an issue with kernel compatibility

I am S on. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought loading the PH98IMG file in the bootloader was loading the kernel.
First, you really should S-Off, it will make it a whole lot easier, it will allow you to jump from Rom to Rom a lot easier. Be careful because some new roms call for the latest firmware to run correctly.

It has to be the ph file from the rom you are on
ok i loaded the viper ROM on my EVO 4G and i cant get rid of it. how do i return my phone back to stock?
Did you create a backup before you flashed the ROM? You could restore to that. You also could either flash a stock ROM (search the forums) or RUU. Good luck.
The Sprint store gave me a copy of the RUU and a new ROM but i cant get the boot loader to find it. do i need to change the file names?
I am not sure, I have never RUU'ed before. Sorry.
You have to go to the bootloader on the phone and connect it to the pc then on the pc u run the ruu and it will restore u back to stock

how do i run it connected to the PC? The Sprint store couldnt even figure out how to restore it to stock.
Here ya go man, go here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045935 download the rom.zip (its the stock rooted 3.16) put it on your sd card.
go to recovery,
go to the wipe menu,
wipe data factory reset,
wipe cache ,
wipe dalvic,
wipe system,
go to install and choose the rom from the menu and flash away. when its finished just reboot your device and youll have a stock phone just like from the store,,,,,,but rooted
hope this helped
Thank you that did the trick. !! much appreciated!!
Keeps it rooted, but will it remove S-off? Not going to use it, just curious... Still learning. Thanks

The advice is free....the bandwidth, not so much
ok I have the ROM installed but my phone now has a habit of randomly rebooting. how do i stop this?
Any idea where I can get the AT&T Stock Rom so I can go back to stock?
From the nandroid backup that you made of your stock rom before flashing something else.

I often wonder why people don't make a backup of the stock ROM when they originally unlocked your device. That's the first thing I ever do.

And my psa thread got locked. See Hasson says nothing about making a nandroid in his all in one kit thread.
My nandroid backup has saved my ass twice.
