I found this value in the decompiled framework-res.apk in bools.xml
I changed it to true, but then the phone went into boot loop !
What is it exactly ? I desperately want to change lock screen sliders. Also why are those images present in drawable-mdpi which aren't ever used, like the coloured sliders etc. ?? Is there any way to get lockscreen with those images ?
n I recently upgraded to 2.3.4,and lost the CRT animation. How do I get it back ?
The value of config_animateScreenLights in bools.xml is already false. Any other way ?
Sorry for too many questions !
Thanks !
Sorry. I created the thread in Arc,instead of Mini ! Please move !

Moved to Mini General section.
The reason why it went into a boot loop is because Android detected that framework-res had been modified, and so it would not boot.

Hi....First of all let me say I am not an expert in tweaking android, but regarding bootanimation I searched and got some little knowledge.....
The boot animation is made using a serious of images. I have tried it using .png files and .jpeg file. Both were ok.
What you have to do is, you must make the animation in two series of pictures. The first part must be put in a folder and the second part (The part which will be looped till the phone starts up) must be in another folder. Next you must make a new text file with the name "desc.txt" and with the following content:
320 320 24
p 1 0 part1
p 0 0 part2
First line indicates that the pictures are of 320 X 320 pix size and the animation must be done in a speed of 24 fps.
Second line indicates that the pictures in the first folder ("part1" is the name for the folder in which the pictures for the first part of animation is kept) must be looped ones (The one after p is given for that).
In the third line, in the place of "one" a "zero" is given so the pictures in the second folder will be looped infinite times (till phone starts). Here part2 is the name for the second folder.
Now you have two folders with pictures for the animation and a text file. Now add these three to a zip file with the name bootanimation.zip. while making the file make sure that the compression method is selected to store only.
Now copy this zip file to system/media/
Reboot and enjoy.....Hope it will work!!!!! My animation worked!!!!
I have attached a sample file for your reference.....
All the best.....

Regarding rom cooking...Its not a simple process to make a line by line guide....I am also searching for the same from day 1......I have searched a lot and obtained very few things regarding rom cooking....Not even enough to cook a new rom....
What I have done is installed virtual machine, installed htc kitchen, selected rom made by some other guys, used it as a source rom for the kitchen and just added a few new applications to the rom, then repacked it and installed it....
for these things you can follow this link..." http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246 "
Also tried change some other features of the rom but didn't succeed....
Anyway from the search what I understood is that using kitchens the level to which you can edit a rom is very less.....you must follow the procedures given in this link " http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html " (it is an ocean) to install a development platform, other software required, and finally develop new roms...some knowledge regarding java and xml is also needed to do the task... I have tried my turn in that site but i reached no were.....still trying to get something....
Anyway hope you will understand something....all the best!!!!!
I already checked out a bunch of threads, even on cyanogen wiki but I couldn't find what I need.
I'm going to make my own rom from CM7,I already deleted/added my own apk's which I need, but I have a problem.
When I try to change the bootanimation.zip to another one,for ex the bios bootanimation for MDPI screens(can be found here in the forum),the phone doesn't boot,it stucks at the LG logo.
My second question is,can I delete the tts folder?(I don't need text-to-speech)
Also, can I delete some fonts which I will never use? Will the rom still run?
Also, how can I pre-set a wallpaper when it is installed?
ALSO(sorry for so much also),can I pre-set the RetroDroid(stock froyo) theme to be the default when I install the ROM?
PS.: I have LG Optimus One
Bump bump bump

Oh god.... BUMP!!!
Oh come ooon...I don't wanna spam the forum... please can some1 help me?
Can someone enable the CRT off animation to our amazing new device?? I tried to edit framework but I couldn't find the file "bools" to edit! It must have been replaced with something else(!)
Here is the thread for Xperia Arc mod
well, this phones framework-res.apk doesn't have bools.xml so i dont know how to enable it
Nobody?? Come on it couldn't be that difficult for a developer!!
I'm new to the forum so hi everybody
Looking into old threads it was said auto-brightness values were in \system\framework\framework-res.apk but actually they aren't. Is there any known path for them? Or a userinit mod to set custom values on booting?
I would ask on Elite-kernel thread since that's what I'm running, but as i'm a noob i can't :crying:
System/framework/framework-res/arrays.xml
mmh can't find any framework-res folder.. as framework-res do you mean the apk?
i tried to extract apk but didn't find anything about brightness
Actually you can read the title but I will explain it.
I have a official cm10 release on my phone(xperia neo). And Iam working on a rom for myself.Iam trying to change images SystemUI.apk but I didn't get any changes. I think its about theme engine.
So firstly, Default theme "System" taking resources from SystemUI.apk ? How can I remove this thing totally? I just want classic ui from SystemUI.apk.
And a noob question, my xperia neo is hdpi. In SystemUI.apk/res, I have to edit the image files in drawable-hdpi.Thats true right? I just edit it. And I want to be sure about it.
And another question...I get these images from other SystemUI's, like Android 4.3's SystemUI.apk. And there is few differences between images.(Actually device changes, not cm10.2..like xperia z1's systemui) ...Same drawable-hdpi folder. But in my SystemUI.apk, the .png is 29x27 , in xperia z1's SystemUI.apk, its 32x29 (something like that). When I use that image directly (32x29) , is there any problem I have to face? or just the image will be a bit bigger?
The last question! I got Android L's dump. I want to take the .png files used in statusbar...(signal wifi airplane mode ...). But there is no SystemUI.apk . Then where are these files? In framework-res.apk?
Many questions..I hope you can understand me..anyways thank you so much Any help, anything is appreciated
Dam, 35 view and no answer...I need answers immediately.
