has anyone else noticed that the newer version of ADB.exe seem to be constently craching and when they do the internet also disconnects, or is this just my computer doing this?
EDIT: i was wrong, it cause all my frivers to crash and usb ports to stop working.

Hi guys,
Please help me out. I'm about to pull my hair out!!
I installed Kies and the USB drivers, but everytime I try to USB tether, Windows 7 fails to install the driver. I tried uninstalling the Samsung drivers on the computer where it won't work, but it still won't install.
The weird thing is that I plugged in the phone into another computer also running win 7 and that computer easily found the right driver and installed it. Didn't need to install Samsung drivers.
What happens is the driver is downloaded, tries to install, then gives me an error. I attached an image of the error I get. Any advice would be appreciated!
There's a program called driver magician that allows you to take and save a driver off one computer and restore it in another.
If you don't go that route you can always leave the phone plugged in and open hardware manager. Then delete your phone. When it asked choose to delete the driver with it.
Then try it again.

Thanks. That didn't work, but I figured it out!
For anyone who has a similar problem with installing a driver, open up setupapi.dev.log in notepad which is located in c:\windows\inf -- it's kind of a labyrinth to navigate, but I found that I was missing a file which it was looking for. I then found that file on another computer, put it into c:\windows\inf and it worked. There were two missing files actually, usb8023x.sys and rndismpx.sys. Took me all day but finally got USB tethering working.
Unfortunately wifi tethering doesn't work (no internet connection) -- anyone get that?
Nice work.
Never had issues with wifi tethering. Have you made any changes to your phone? Root, rom, ect?

I'm on stock ROM but I did root it to delete the tetheringmanager apk
When I was on stock I did that too with no issues. Try downloading a tethering app from the market like barnacle and see if that makes a difference.

I'm having some problems with adb recently and adb.exe keeps crashing. The strange thing is, something immediately restarts adb.exe. I looked through the services and couldn't find anything Android related.
Does anyone know how adb.exe keeps restarting after the process got killed?
This is on Windows 7.
Is logcat using it? Logcat will auto start adb if it's killed.
So the phone is able to start adb.exe on the PC? That would happen through the driver then?
edit: Nevermind, I forgot I had Eclipse running and the Android Plugin restarts adb whenever it's killed...
Can anyone confirm that it's actually the phone's driver that's retarting adb? I don't think I have logcat running on the phone though.

The phone driver won't start ADB, it's only used for connecting to the phone in adb.
have you installed droidexplorer or myphonexplorer?
my problem was droidexplorer, after i uninstalled and delete it, adb.exe was killed and dont restart anymore
Droid Explorer kept adb.exe restarting

Thanks @bur2000 for posing the question, and thanks @ignos for posting my answer.
I got the same issue. Look if the process doesn't start at boot (with CCleaner for exemple) and loop kill it with a batch, it will finally stop I think.
Hi, I recently changed to Win 8.1 (x64) and for some reason the OS is not recognizing my phone or my tablet (both have MTP interface).
Apparently the drivers (MTP & ADB) are correctly installed, I see both of them on the device manager with no errors, and I can even connect through ADB. Also, in the devices and printers site I see them under the unspecified type. I also see them on the safely remove menu (but the icon is a generic device, not a multimedia one).
I've tried countless solutions, and also all types of drivers. Sometimes I get error 10, sometimes nothing.
I've read one solution that is to install the media feature pack for N versions of Windows but that's not my version. But then I remembered that I messed up with the system codecs not long ago. Maybe there is a connection?
Apart for MTP and ADB devices in device manager, I have a hidden device under "other devices" category with the name of the phone (GT-I9300 in this case). That's the name that should be seen on the explorer to access the phone's files.
Anyway, I can't explorer any android device through MTP.
Any solution or approach to find the error?
I will provide any info you guys need.
Thx in advance!
Anything? I've been trying things literally all day and I'm starting to feel very fustrated...
I've tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/guide-troubleshoot-mtp-driver-t2518821
And nothing at all. It's not the phone because I only changed from win7 to 8.1, I did nothing to my phone. And also it's not just my phone, also my tablet or any other mtp device. Also, the driver seems to work well on device manager, the problem is that threre's no device in explorer to open it.
Any ideas??? I'm freaking out!!
Problem solved. Guess what was the cause: the Media Scanner Optimizer Xposed module. Don't know why though. If anyone knows how to fix it please tell me, otherwise it will remain deleted from my phone.
Thanks.
For some weird reason I am unable to access files via Android File Transfer with usb cable. I never had any such problems with any other android device before. I just flashed S6 rom and still have same problem. Did anyone else face this? Any solution? Thanks.
/S
I'm having the same problem on my MacBook, but not my iMac. Both are on Yosemite 10.10.3. I have USB debugging enabled and all that, and still can't get Android File Transfer to work. I've toggled it to get it to reauthorize this mac, but still no luck. I'm going to have to play with the MacBook. On the iMac, I did have to complete remove Android File Transfer and all of it's preference files, reboot, reinstall AFT, and reauthorize the mac to get it working. I'm thinking since I have more users on my MacBook, that may have something to do with it, so I need to dig in both user files. I'll report back
Also, I can't use ADB. I'm getting that the device is offline on both macs.
i am having same issue with.
installed smart transfer and still same issue
Hi.
LeEco 2 Max (4/32).
ROM: ResurrectionRemix-MM6.0.1TeaMSpaiN-LeMax2
Rooted.
USB connecting is working (works transferring photos [PTP], works battery loading).
But I can't add other files (music etc.) from computer to LeEco.
I checked on other laptop: works fine. So problem is in my laptop (Asus), maybe with drivers.
What should I install to fix it?
"AdbDriverInstaller" doesn't see the device also (in every mode).
Do You have any ideas?
It isn't important problem, you don't need to fix it.
Not important for You, important for me. That is why I am reading about this, right? Not for fun.
Problem is important: I can't copy music or audiobooks on device.
If You can't or don't want to help, don't help. Easy.
Did you already solve the problems? there should be an option to update the Android drivers by plugging the device several times in. That's at lest how I've installed my Le Max 2 for the mtp process. After those drivers have been installed automatically, my laptop recognized the phone withoit a problem
No, I didn't.
You're right it should be automatically (like on my other machine).
But here I have problem. On Huawei Ascend P6 I knew I should install HiSuite and for few hours everything will be OK.
But not here.
Maybe do You know something like HiSuite for Huawei but for LeEco?
I don't know if it would help, but when you connect the phone to the laptop, go to device manager and uninstall the driver found for the device, then unplug and plug again. The driver should come automatically, at least in theory, and hopefully the good one.
I need to say that I've had an issue similar to your long time ago and it was due to windows. After reinstalling windows again, the problem was solved. I know now nobody does this, but at that time, this is what helped.

The same thing is happening to me...
I plug the mobile to a pc (windows 10, windows 7 and kali linux) by usb and it's only capable of charging; neither MTP, nor ADB, nor OTG...
Heyyo @zaroc, is that with TWRP or a ROM? Please provide which versions they are
