Hello,
I just got a galaxy s2 today, and have an issue I hope someone can help me with. When I first got the phone and held down the power button the "Data network mode" tab was available in the phone options menu that popped up, along with airplane mode, shut down, and silent mode. However, this tab (Data network mode) no longer shows up when I hold down the power button. Is there a way to reinstate this tab onto the phone? Any help would be appreciated.
My phone is the AT&T variant SGH-I777 running Andriod 2.3.4 kernal version 2.6.35.7, Build number Gingerbread.uckh7.
Thanks!

Hi, Have had Galaxy S 2 for 5 weeks, it was working properly up until the screen failed last week, went off for official repair, came back fixed, all good I thought....But a New Issue Has Manifested
The methods of toggling through having sound on or in silent mode are giving false indications......
In phone options, which are entered by a long press on the power button, the first option is silent mode on / off, but the phone is doing the exact opposite to what it says! I have missed a couple of important calls because I checked the phone status this morning when I came out of a meeting, it said "Silent Mode On" So I hit it to activate Silent mode off, which it displayed, however, got to office and 2 calls had been missed, the phone was not ringing out at all...! (Even though it was displaying silent mode off) when I toggled bact to silent mode on, it would then ring???!???
I have soft reset, hard reset, and neither has made a difference. Now, do I send phone back again and be without it for 10-12 days, or is there a simple fix/issue I am missing here? If it was a Nokia, I would have re-installed the firmware as the next action, but cannot work out how to do this on a Samsung Galaxy S 2.
If I choose phone update in about phone, it tells me no new updates available.. There does not seem to be a re-install existing firmware route to take.
Please advise?
Thanks in anticipation;

factory restore reinstalls the existing firmware .

Hmm, well it cannot be that then, can it... Any ideas why phone is "Cross Wired" for want of a better explanation for the Silent On / Off reversal?

well to start with, i bought this samsung galaxy s2 mobile, it has been working absolutely fine until 3 days ago. My battery was low and it went into flight mode, i connected my mobile to the wall charger and it started charging up but since then, my mobile is in flight mode, i keep turning it off and it internally goes into flight mode, in settings it shows its off but on top bar of my screen, there is the flight icon, i cant make or receive any calls/texts since this started happening, I tried soft reset (removing the battery for few mins), didnt work. I tried to factory reset my mobile but its asking for some password, i tried my google password from which i configured the device at the time of purchase, but it says the password is incorrect. Pls help
Thanks

Make sure that when you enter your password you are connected to your/a wifi network because I assume you don't have mobile internet on flight mode.
Also, this may sound stupid but make sure you don't have any app or WIDGET that enables/disables fly mode, also long press your power button until the popup and see if flightmode is disable there too.
Last, go into your Phone Information and make sure you have a baseband and an Imei
*#06# on your dialer.
security password to protect your data, assuming you tried to master reset in android,if you didnt make one and have warranty, take it back, because the other process will void your warranty

I'm having the same problem, but i assume that i got it when the phone was updated OTA to 4.0.3 (LPG). I certainly did'nt have the problem beforehand.
It's absolutely useless to try to disable flightmode, both with powerbutton and manually inside settings - the phone never goes out of flightmode, even that it says that flightmode is disabled in settings, and when pressing powerbutton.
My solution though, is to disable flightmode and rebooting the phone. That works, but i don't know if that solves your specific problem. Irritating problem though - it somehow destroys the feeling of a good phone...
Just got an amazing deal on Razr. It does have a clean ESN, but unfortunately, I do not have Verizon as a carrier, but I was hoping to use this as an "mp3" player and such. Root it, have fun with it, etc.
Right now, when I power on, it comes to the "Emergency call" screen, and says "No Service" at the bottom. The previous owner did leave an old SIM in it. When the SIM is removed it goes to the same screen when powered on.
I have read around (yes, I did try finding help around the web before I came here and asked) that the activation screen can be skipped and it'll work without a SIM.
When I try to go into the recovery (Vol down + power) to hard reset, the physical volume buttons don't work to scroll to the options, nor does volume up work to select options. Just ends up resetting the phone after the timeout.
I have looked everywhere for a workaround or fix for this. Couldn't find much on the recovery part of it.

HELP?
Hey folks, Merry Xmas and all that jazz,
I've a problem with my stock Galaxy S4 in that since a firmware update (4.2.2.2 to 4.3) I cannot for the life of me get the WiFi to turn on.
I've been reading a lot of forums, and it seems many have this issue, yet I can't seem to locate any solid answers. In fact it leaves me with many more questions.
I've been having this problem for almost a week even though the update occurred quite sometime before that. I've tried puling the battery but it didn't have any effect. Tried putting the phone into Recovery Mode, sadly I can't even get that to work (Vol. up, Home and Power together). All that happens is the tiny tiny blue text of "Recovery Mode" appears, vanishes upon button release, then the phone proceeds to boot normally. No recovery mode at all. Eventually I decided to to a Factory Reset in the vain hope it would reslove the problem. Answer: No. All I've succeeded in doing is losing all my data (yes it was backed up but to restore the backup I need to have WiFi turned on!)
Anyone out there know of a solution to this problem?
Just to mention, this is a stock Galaxy S4, non-rooted, on the Vodafone network in the UK.
Help?
Frustrations abound, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Nicowab.
N.B After downloading Kies3 I've been able to update with latest firmware.....and I can now turn on my WiFi!! WOOP!! About bloody time too!
N.B.2 Scrub that last comment. After being able to turn Wifi on and scan for signal, it allowed me to enter the password for my home WiFi then I restarted the device only to find that again the Wifi option on the phone will not turn on. Very very frustrating. Anyone got any ideas?
