Flash stock rom + custom recovey by lgmdp - Optimus One, P500, V General

Afraid of kdz updater , here is an alternative to flash rom and recovery
Note: Donot use this method from emergency mode unless you already have a backup of your nv
Note: using this prodcedure there should be no disconnection of phone or power cut.
Using this method you can flash "stock rom + custom recovery" or "stock rom + stock recovery"
DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK, I WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE !!!
download lgmdp : Download Here
1. disable lg modem
( in right click mycomputer->manage->device manager->modems->right click on lg modem disable it)
2. now connect your phone to pc.
3. start lgdmp
4. click "select port"
Phone will be automatically detected press "connect"
(close the pop up window of image select generally you will get it on connect of lgmdp)
5. backup nv for safety (tools->nv backup)
6. After backup , store this nv file somewhere in computer (and remember where you stored lol..)
7. close lgmdp
Now download stockrom+customrecovery
Download v10e ROM(unrooted)(2.2.2) with cwm recovery: Download Here_v10e
(or)
Download v20c ROM(unrooted)(2.3.3) with cwm recovery: Download Here_v20c
Step 1. Extract (use "extract here" for a noob)the downloaded file stockrom+customrecovery
(be sure you have extracted without error in zip extraction and you have all 13 files in extracted folder)
To flash stock rom + custom recovery skip step 2 and follow from step 3 to step 7.
To flash stock rom + stock recovery follow from step 2 to step 7 (including step 3).
Now the extracted folder has stock rom + custom recovery.
Step 2:
2. (a) Download stock_recovery for v10e: Download Here_recovery_v10e
(or) Download stock_recovery for v20c: Download Here_recovery_v20c
(make sure you downloaded correct recovery according to Rom you downloaded)
2. (b) extract the downloaded zip file -> you get recovery.img (this is stock recovery)
2. (c) Now copy this recovery.img file and paste in folder of "stockrom+customrecovery" (which you extracted previously in Step 1) {as their is already a recover.img file in folder it will be copy and replace "for noobs", in this step you replace custom recovery with stock recovery}
Click to collapse
Step 3: start lgdmp
Step 4. click "select port"
Phone will be automatically detected press "connect"
Step 5. select the extracted folder "stockrom+custom recovery" as "image folder or image select" in lgmdp
Step 6. Select "Erase EFS APPS" in drop down box of "NVBackup/Restore"
(Caution : donot select other options they might stuck your phone in air plane mode with no gsm )
Step 7. press start or download
DONOT DISCONNECT YOUR MOBILE UNTILL IT SHOWS DOWNLOAD COMPLETE AT BOTTOM
it shows in middle trying to connect to phone etc. donot touch the phone it will be automatically connect everytime.
After download complete you are done with procedure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to flash any other stock rom (kdz) file from lgmdp (Check this url)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note : Creating nv with different imei is illegal.
For people who messed up with nv, lost their nv follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534704 to create nv.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NV will be automatically restored at the end before you see download complete.
If any error occured while restore of nv
follow below steps to restore nv
put the nv file which you backed up in first part of procedure in this order*
create new folder
- rename folder: <your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)>
- create new folder in <your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)>
named <port no.> on which your phone is connected
(ex:for com4 name folder as " _COM_4_" (without quotes), you can find
port number when you click on "select port" when connecting mobile to
lgmdp under port column.)
- now place nv2 file in this folder <port no.>
- so now u r nv2 file is in
" \<your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)>\<port no.>\ "
- now place lgmdp.exe and <your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)> in
new folder
- start lgmdp
- "select port"
- "connect"
- press "NV Restore"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank yoooou!
I cannot express my thanks to you enough. I have been trying to fix my phone for 9 hours now, and every fix I tried didn't work at all. Then I come around to this post thinking "What have I got to lose?" and this is the ONLY fix that WORKED! I still have a thing here or there to figure out for my phone, but I have most functionality back!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Dear Mak,
I did everything as stated (step 1 and 3). Everything went smoothly and after i saw the message "download completed" I quit the lgdmp and switched on my phone. the problem is that it is stuck at the "android screen" and does not do anything else. its just continously showing the flashing android logo. Please help! Thanks in advance!

Donot worry your phone is not bricked, It takes time for first boot sometimes may be around 10 min or so.
Which recovery wer u using ?
custom (skiped step 2) or stock (followed step 2) ?,
if you flashed custom recovery boot into recovery (long press {home+volume down+power} buttons simultaneously) and do "wipe data/factory reset" then "reboot system" ?
Do you have stored that nv file mentioned in first part of procedure ?

If stuck at logo screen, remove battery and start as mak said, (long press {home+volume down+power} buttons .
Worked for me !
My question now is... can i safely update to 2.3.3 romania firmware through the official LG mobile update tool ?
Thanks

Thanks a lot Mak! Your advice worked and phone is now booting. Howver, theres a small catch though. My phone was locked to orange and I thought it would be unlocked after doing sotck rom+custom recovery. I did follow all the steps for step 1 and step 3, but now when Im inserting other sim, it still shows that the phone is network locked. Can you suggest me what to do now? I just want to unlock it and dont know what to do.
Thanks once again, you are a hero!

Let me save you some time: you won't find such information here. Not because it's forbidden or illegal, but simply because it can't be done at software level.
What you need is to find an online service that unlocks your phone via some code they will provide based on your IMEI. There's no way you will find such service for free - if you do, please drop me a message with a link - but at least it will be a hell of a lot cheaper than asking your provider to do it.

Thanks Mak, I had to pay £10 to get the unlock code for my phone. Its working like a charm! Thank you all! You guys are saviours!

Yes you can replace the recovery.
Just replace the recovery.img file, and keep the partition.mbn as it is and flash by same steps as mentioned in this thread.

Is the v10e provided for download an Indian froyo version

Bit Confused....
I think u have made a mistake in labelling the section. At the bottom, where you have titled "To back up nv follow below steps". Isn't that part suppose to be the restoring part? And the top part is the backup part. Am I right or am I just confused?

I am absolutely new to this Android ROM installs on the phones. Though I decided to install this ROM I absolutely didn’t’ have any idea how to proceed. As a beginner I started doing the following in order.
Download and Keep the CM7 ROM
1. Downloaded Ba2F.zip to my laptop
2. Downloaded and Installed the Motorola USB drivers MotoHelper_2.0.53_Driver_5.2.0.EXE
3. Connect the Atrix and set the USB option on the phone to “USB Mass Storage”
4. Copy both BaTF.zip as well as the Extracted one to Phone internal storage as well as the Ext-SDcard on the phone
Download ROM Manager and Titanium Backup
1. Downloaded both from Android Market (ROM Manager Pro and Titanium Backup Free Version)
2. Both Apps won’t open because I had not ROOTED the phone
Root the Phone
1. I used “Pete's Motorola Root Tools.EXE” file to ROOT the phone
2. Followed step by step as mentioned here http://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-root-motorola-atrix-4g-35233/
Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
1. I used ROM Manager to do this as when you try to do anything in ROM manager it prompts to do this. The version of this is 5.0.2.0 ( I am not sure what is this for why we have to do this)
Unlocking the Bootloader
1. What I learned is, to unlock the bootloader, we have to first flash the phone with the SBF file
a. Installed RSDLite5.3.1.msi
b. Loaded the file 4547-fix-try2.sbf (Downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261)
c. Boot the phone with Power+volume UPPER key pressed till "Starting RSD protocol support" comes up
d. Connect to the Laptop and Hit Start button in RSD Lite Program
e. It Did Throw an error saying “FAIL” after showing the following message
i. Failed to boot: error 0x1000'( not word for word). There will also be a list of boot options like Fastboot, RSD, Recovery, etc. And it says Starting Fastboot Protocol
2. Then comes unlocking the phone
a. Though I had the previous error message, it still had the Fastboot Protocol loaded
b. I went to the FASTBOOT folder in command prompt of my laptop executed the following to unlock the phone which worked perfectly as I see the “Unlock” on the left hand corner when phone boots
c. fastboot oem unlock (it gave me the code) then I used the code to unlock
d. fastboot oem unlock #######
e. fastboot reboot
3. Installing the recovery IMG
a. I had downloaded the Recovery IMG file (recovery-atrix5.img) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
b. Booted the phone into Fastboot mode (turn off phone, hold power and volume down key until 'fastboot' appears then use volume up to select so it says 'starting fastboot protocol support').
c. From the CMD promnt and FASTBOOT directory I used fastboot erase recovery
d. Then I executed fastboot flash recovery recovery-atrix5.img (Note: I didn’t rename the file to recovery as suggested by some people)
e. Then gave fastboot reboot to restart.
4. Booting into Recovery mode (This is where I have the problem)
a. The phone is not booting into recovery it’s not going past the Android and yellow Triangle screen
b. I re-flashed the phone same SBF file (this time it was a success showed in the RSD Lite Program), re-installed the same IMG file after renaming to recovery.img
c. Also tried with a different IMG from the same link (recovery-blue-atrix5.img) but no luck
d. Also deleted the file install-recovery.sh from ./etc/ folder (bought the app root manager to delete the file) and then push the recovery.img, no luck
e. Some people said to TAP the bottom right corner while on that screen, did that but nothing is happening
f. Then I saw a note to press both the Volume Keys at the same time, this works but in this mode the cursor (I mean the selection) on the phone doesn’t go to the First TWO (i and iii) shown below, it allows me to select any of the last FOUR (v, vi, vii, viii).
i. Android System Recovery <3e>
ii. <EMPTY LINE >
iii. Android System Recovery utility
iv. <EMPTY LINE >
v. Reboot System now
vi. Apply update from sdcard
vii. Wipe data/factory reset
viii. Wipe cache partition
g. Using the above option I did factory reset but sill no results.
5. Current condition of the phone
a. It boots in unlock mode and I can do all the daily tasks. But I want to install the CM7 ROM that’s my requirement
PLEASE HELP HELP HELP
First of all, I applaud your effort in giving the a very comprehensive description of your issue.
Second, it seems you are having issues with installing a custom recovery because the recovery you're describing is still the stock recovery. I'll look around and see if I can find something that might help.

Have you tried re-installing the CWM from RomManager through RomManager? And then boot into recovery from within the app?
---------- Post added at 11:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:31 AM ----------
EDIT: This might seem trivial, but is "USB Debugging" turned on?
You are the Man, I just flashed the same CWM 5.0.2.0 and i am in the recovery mode. This gave me an error when i did last time hence i didn't try again.
Thanks a bunch
Glad I can help, also, I think it's recommended to use the RomManager recovery for CM7 so good thing it worked.

Oops.. started again, Can i use the recovery-atrix5.img and ROM manager flash it? if yes, then how?
I copy this file (after renaming to recovery.img) to both internal storage and SD card then what option should i choose in ROM Manager?
If you downloaded the CWM zip file for the romracer recovery and as long as RomManager's recovery is working then, yes, you can.

See post#2 from romracer's thread. Read the Miscellaneous part. Probably need to get rid of, or backup, install-recovery.sh.
He has mentioned he already did that. In his OP, under the steps he took look at "Booting into Recovery Mode" - 4.d, he says he removed it.
Maybe he's not doing it in the right order? Do you happen to know which should be done first as far as installing recovery and removing said file?

Woops, I should have read more carefully. It's best to remove the file first and then flash the recovery.img, or else the script will install the stock recovery on boot. That would make stock recovery the current one on the phone at the time of the script getting deleted.
I would double check and make sure /system/etc does not have install-recovery.sh. If it is not there, then proceed to the fastboot steps and reflash the recovery.img again. It should stick this time.
@Ghost, yes i deleted the file multiple times however i didn't find the /system/etc folder on the Internal Storage. however I found the install-recovery.sh file under /etc folder. The thing i observed that whether i flash it with a new CWM or not if i reboot the phone then it was created by itself.
@Live4nyy, Thanks for your suggestion, I could able to install CM7 now and it looks awesome good so far, but looks like i need to install Google Apps separately to access the APP market, am I right?
The only thing that happens to me is, it allowed me to go to Recovery only ONCE after i Flashed it thru ROM Manager, if i exit out of recovery without doing anything then next time tried to go to Recovery, it will struck at the same old Android screen and i had to flash it again. But Many thanks for suggesting to flash it thru ROM Manager.
Now with CM7, under ROM Manager (I guess this comes default with CM7) I see there is no version listed under "Flash Clockworkmod Recovery" and it says i must have to install it in-order to Flash and restore ROMs, do i need to do that? I can go to Recovery mode after reboot without any issues. Please Advise.

I just checked out my girlfriend's stock, locked, unrooted Atrix and she actually has install-recovery.sh in both /etc and /system/etc. Her file manager does not alphabetize anything in either folder, so I almost overlooked the second one.
If you're already on CM7, then you probably won't need to worry anymore. They have an entirely different set of start up scripts in that folder. Welcome to the community!
At this point I do not know enough to help you any further with this issue. All I knew about is the file that needs to be removed that @ghost_og has mentioned. But if you can flash it from RomManager and access CWM from there as well then I guess that's a good enough workaround for now.
Does anyone else have any idea why the stock recovery cannot be removed?

[Q]How to backup & restore ROM on Tianji i9220 (Galaxy Note Copy)?

Hi!
1. I would like to flash ClockworkMod Recovery (or any other recovery method) on my Tianji i9220 device, because the phone hasn't got too many features, if i push volume+ +power button the Factory menu has only tests and reboot option, but i would like to flash another rom on the device, but i don't want to try until i haven't got a recovery option. If someone can help me, it would be nice! (I installed goomanager and i can enter to cwm recovery mode from it, but if i would like to flash the cmw to the phone, idk which version sould i choose)
The device is already rooted, with this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1872072 (the webtrickz one)
2. If do you now any other method to backup and restore my ROM it would be good to me! I found a tool called Smart Phone Flash tool. I think it can do it, but i don't know how. Correct me if this program has other purposes.
(If anyone has some patience and would like to help me, you can add me on msn or skype by kanduur_patrik[.-at-.]hotmail.com thanks!)

Well, you know what, you might as well forget about the German
1.) download the flash tool here: http://sdrv.ms/SVnuBD to the folder c:\users\[your username]\SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1.222.00
2.) run c:\windows\System32\hdwwiz.exe.
3.) choose "Choose hardware manually from a list"
4.) choose "Show all devices"
5.) choose "Disk..." , point to the c:\users\[your username]\Downloads\SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1.222.00\MTK6577 VCOM USB Driver\usb2ser_Win7_864.inf
6.) choose "MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port"
7.) accept to install a non-signed driver even if Windows warns you to do it
8.) remove your Tinji's battery
9.) run the flash tool
10.) click on "Scatter-loading" and open the "MT6577_Android_Scatter_emmc" scatter file
11.) untick "BOOTIMG" and "ANDROID", double-click on "RECOVERY"
12.) choose the "cwm_recovery.img" file
13.) click on "Download"
14.) ignore the "Download Warning"
15.) re-insert the battery, press "Vol Up" [or "Vol Down"]on your Tinji and connect it with the computer
16.) the flash tool should start flashing the modified recovery.img, you might keep pressing "Vol Up", it's not necessary, but anyway the flashing doesn't take long
17.) done!
You can now restart your Tinji anytime you want in recovery, either from Goo Manager or from ROM Manager (funnily enough, pressing "Vol Down" on starting the phone didn't work anymore lately).
Whenever you need your original ("Android system recovery <3e>") recovery, you'll find it under c:\users\[your username]\Downloads\SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1.222.00\recovery.img to re-flash it. [Edit 4/12/12: does for some reason not seem to work, AC]
If there's still problems on installing the driver under 6.) and/or you are running Windows other than 7 or 8 and/or other than x64 [64 bit], let me know.
In case of any other problems, feel free to ask!
Thank you!

TWRP recovery for our Tinji!
patrik2991 said:
Hi!

Big thanks go out to javum from forum.china-iphone.ru!
hello, I'm Italian, sorry for my bad english ...
I have a tinij i9220 (rooted) and I would like to load the recovery, I downloaded your TWRP, which contains the file recovery.img. To load it on my tinij, I use a tool that I found in the market: mobileuncle Tools, in the menu of the application, there is a function to overwrite the stock recovery: Recovery Update. In this way it would be easier than using SP FLASH TOOL.
you think it's dangerous? I DO NOT HAVE THE BACKUP of my phone.
thanks for everything.

Hey Massimo,
I'm German sorry for my bad Italian...and for your prime minister too, hehe...
I just don't know about mobileuncle - the screenshots were all Chinese, I never downloaded it.
Became addicted to SP Flash Tools - you might notice my signature
First thing I did I backed up my phone - did not work for the recovery which I don't need anymore anyway but worked fine for the system.img and boot.img.
Have bricked my phone since then a hundred times and SP always made my day saving me in the end.
I think it's dangerous to not have a backup. But not for you as have have *my* backup (of system.img + boot.img) which you might download at any time.
I never wrote what happened after installing TWRP - I like it very much, and it's easier than Clockworkmod and it has touch screen functionality and I knew it from my ZTE Skate before but - believe it or not it does not work with the fact that the Tinji has an internal SD card.
I mean maybe I just did not find the option, but I backuped (on the internal SD card) and then was unable to restore for TWRP couldn't find the internal SD much different than Clockworkmod.
So I reflashed Clockworkmod and keep sticking to it ever since.
Have fun,
Alessandro
thanks for the quick reply, so you advise me to use SP FLASH TOOL and CWM, right? To do my first backup I first load the CWM, I do not think there is a way to backup without CWM ...

Well, how would you get the CWM on the phone if not with SP Flash Tool?
By just downloading the ROM Manager from Google Play - that was my idea, did not work
Me, I recommend SP, but that's strictly personal.
Whenever you flashed the CWM recovery, you can happily start backuping!

[Q] Neo V Stuck on Sony Logo

OK, I tried installing this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737862, but I skipped step 0, as I had flashed my phone with that kernel a couple days ago when I rooted my phone, the rest of the steps I did all of them, all the cleans and wipes, but smth obviously went wrong, and my phone won't boot staying at the sony logo. I saw some other threads here with the same problem, but I couldn't find a solution. If anyone has a solution that will work at 100%, I'd appreciate it. My phone is not recognized by PC Companion so I Can't do anything there. I can't boot into cwm either, I can only use flashtool to flash my phone with a kernel, and I can't use fastboot mode as my device is not recognized in flashboot either.
use SEUS and repair your phone. (when it ask you have the latest version, just install anyways)
Read.. read.. read.. same posts.. same questions.. but different people..
Xda is just not to post your questions.. its there to learn.. bro search.. there is answer to this to..

Do a full wipe n reinstall the rom
Bro

Okay. So it is possible to Flash a ftf file o your phone. And Fastboot mode is used to Flash kernels, While Flashmode is used to flash ftf files.
Thing to do is,
1.Get a ftf file ( better if prerooted )
2. Flash ftf to you phone using flashtool. (flashmode)
3. Then Flash Pureness With all steps followed strictly.
Or
1. Get ftf which is not pre rooted.
2. Flash ftf on you phone.
3. Root your phone again and install CWM. or Flash Custom kernel which comes with CWM using Flashtool (fastboot mode) and flash superuser.zip via CWM to root. ....// Both methods are to root you phone.
4. Install Pureness following each instructions.
Dont worry!
Even I faced the same problem as yours and I was flashing the same ROM. What I did was in CWM I wiped and formatted everything as per the steps and when I was doing install .zip file from SD card it was giving me error something like "BAD" Error, the problem was that I didnt copy the ROM .zip file properly to my memory card.
So do one think first download the official 4.0.4. ICS ".ftf" file of your device from here-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690
(As per your device 4.1.b.0.431 OR 4.1.B.0.587) it must be around 200 - 300mb.
Then copy that .ftf file in C:\Flashtool\firmwares (Make sure there is no other file present in "firmwares" folder, if there then delete it.)
(Hope you have installed Flashtool. If not then download & install it from here-
http://androxyde.github.com/index.html?1357230558000)
Then open "Flashtool", press "Flash" button and select "Flashmode" press "Ok" then again press "Ok"
wait for few seconds while its preparing.
Then a new window will Open and follow the Instructions like- unplug device, power off, press and hold back button and connect it to PC
This will install the stock ICS on your phone and will go ahead of that sony logo where you are stuck. :good:
Thats It. Your Done!!

Thanks man, that's what I was looking for, the stock ICS for my phone. Did that, re rooted my phone and this time things went fine, I managed to install pureness, even though I didn't do it from cwm directly, but from a program called x-parts (which seems to install cwm) since cwm itself would say no recovery for your phone or something, once again thanks. Also, that method with SEUS works as well, so thanks to that other guy, too. And to the guy saying search, I searched, read my OP, and I tried different stuff before asking here for like 4-5 hours, but I just panicked into thinking I ruined my phone so I came and started my own thread, since that's what the guy in the 'welcome noob' video said, but I guess people aren't allowed even to ask around here.
I never had this kind of problem, but try these following steps , may be this will help you:
1. Reboot your phone and hold back key : this will help you to set your cellphone in fastboot mode
2.Download android sdk from here
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html (chose the zip file)
after download extract the file and rename it to androidsdk (you must have java)
put the folder (androidsdk) on drive c
3. Then download recoveryNeo.img from here (on the first post)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1183465
after you put the file recoveryNeo.img on androidsdk /tools
4. Connect your phone to your PC
5.now from your PC start choose run and type cmd then ok
copy and paste these orders (press enter after evry order)
cd/
cd/androidsdk/tools
fastboot devices (you must see the SN of your device)
fastboot boot recoveryNeo.img
after finish
fastboot reboot
By following above steps you can easily get into CWM Mode without pressing volume keys..Try them once , i hope that will help you

Flash 4.1.B.0.587.ftf using flashtool
or
1.Factory reset in cwm
2.wipe cache partition
3.wipe dalvik cache
4.Format /system (in mounts and storage)
5.Format /data
6.Format /cache
7.Install XXX.zip (XXX=the rom name)
8.Install patch for your phone model (if there are)
9.Reboot
U seemed to take things wrongly bro.. see whatever solutions people have provided u is from xda threads only right? Soo that means if u read u will get it.. its not that we dont want to help.. the point is the help is already available.. its just that u have to search.. thats all.. bcz mny people have this doubt..

Why not make use of their time and effort?rather than duplicating a post and cluttering up the forum!
The threads /guides are noob friendly

Does anyone have a method for rooting the M4 Aqua on .167 firmware?

Does anyone know how to root the .167 firmware of the M4 Aqua? I don`t want to downgrade due to the improvements made on this firmware, I have the E2303 model of the phone
With unlocked bootloader, you can simply flash twrp and then the supersu zip. With locked bootloader i dont know.

Yeah man. Unfortunately you do gotta downgrade first if your bootloader is locked. Otherwise just do what the other guy said.
Here's what you do if you've got locked bootloader.
Get the full source and files here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/m4-aqua/development/bl-locked-twrp-touch-recovery-bl-locked-t3257430
1. Downgrade
2. Flash root through adb
3. Flash recovery through adb
4. Build pre-rooted upgrade zip
5. Flash with recovery
6. Now you're on .167 with root and bootloader locked.

Sure thing friend.
I'm going to assume you meant 2303 correct? If it is indeed a 2203 like you say, you don't have an xperia m4 aqua. You have an xperia e3 and you'll have to go get support in another thread.
ADB, Fastboot, Drivers
First you'll need to make sure you have ADB, Fastboot and Drivers to interact with your android device.
The easiest way is to follow this guide to get all of those: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118#post48915118
Downgrade Firmware
1. First get yourself firmware version 26.1.A.1.128 for your variation. You can probably find your firmware at this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/m4-aqua/general/stock-xperia-m4-aqua-xperia-m4-aqua-dual-t3141061 (Get the 26.1.A.1.128 version or any firmware that has xx.x.x.1.xxx! The x's can be anything but the 1 is important)
2. Once you have that, you'll need to make sure you have a program called FlashTool.
Download: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
Open it and click the lightning bolt in the top left and make sure flashmode is selected and click okay. Then click the 3 dot's button in the top right of the window that pops up and browse to the folder that your FTF file is located. Then choose the ftf file. check both options under wipe. If you see any .ta files in the firmware content area, make sure you exclude them. Then Press OK.
3. Unplug your phone (if it's not already) and turn it off. Now, plug the one side of the cord into the computer with the other side not connected to your phone yet. Then hold down the volume down button while plugging in the other end of the cord. sometimes you get a popup asking about a script file. just click okay and let it proceed.
4. once this whole bit is done. You have downgraded your firmware.
Installing Root on downgraded firmware
1. Download this rootkit file:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/edse0h6b02odzn1/rootkitXperia_E23xx.zip?dl=0
2. Extract it.
3. make sure USB debugging is turned on in your phone settings. Go to settings. Tap about phone a whole bunch of times till it says you're a developer. Then go back and just above about phone should be another section called something like development. click that and scroll down and find a checkbox that says something like enable usb debugging. Click it and you're ready to root.
4. Now run install.bat in the rootkit folder. If your phone asks you a question about permissions, just click allow.
5. your phone should restart and you should now see the SuperSu app in your app drawer. If you don't see it, try installing the root again.
Installing Custom Recovery on any firmware with root
1. Download this recovery install file:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yomdwq3p2le9hvi/M4Aqua-lockedTWRP-0.1-installer.zip?dl=0
2. Extract it
3. run install.bat
4. your phone should ask about root privileges for ADB. Sometimes it takes awhile to pop up. Just click allow.
4. your phone wont restart with this one but you should now have a custom recovery
Booting into the custom recovery
1. Turn off your phone and unplug it from your computer
2. Now turn your phone on
3. When you feel it vibrate and see the notification light turn blue (sometime while it says sony on the screen) press the volume down button and hold it.
4. You should now be booted into the custom recovery
Installing the latest version of android while keeping root

https://www.dropbox.com/s/z0tgziwx8epdu38/twrp_prerooted_M4.zip?dl=0
2. Extract it
3. Download 7 zip from the below link:
http://www.7-zip.org/
choose if you're 64 or 32 bit system.
4. Install 7 zip
5. Make sure you have an FTF file of the version of android you want to upgrade to. (probably whatever version you were running before all of this)
6. Open the ftf file in 7 zip and drag the system.sin and kernel.sin file out of it onto your desktop
7. now open flashtool again.
8. Choose the advaced menu item and click Sin Editor
9. Browse to where you put the .sin files and repeat these next steps for each one.
9a. click on the .sin file and click open.
9b. Then click extract data
9c. the extracted file should be in the same location as your original file. (repeat this step to extract other sin files)
10. Once you have kernel.elf and system.ext4 copy them into your twrp_prerooted_M4 folder
11. Then select everything in the folder and right click on them and click Add to zip...
12. It should open a window that has a bunch of settings. Don't worry about most of them but just make sure that you have the compression level set to 'store' and the type set to zip. Then compress it.
13. now make sure your phone is plugged into your computer and still in recovery mode.
14. transfer your newly created zip file over to the sd card of your phone
15. on your phone in the recovery, click install and browse to where the zip file is. Select it and install it.
16. Reboot your phone and you should now be on the latest firmware with root.
17. after your phone reboots, you will have lost your recovery so go back and install the recovery like i mentioned before if you still want it.
That's it. I hope this was clear enough for you. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me for more clarification.
Fixing Random Reboots - New Information
There is a guy in the general forums named @thewailer that seems to have come up with a solution to the random reboot problem. I'm currently trying it out and it seems to be holding up so far.

Hey, no worries. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't assisting you in bricking your device.
Most of the tutorials on this forum are not detailed enough. So I hope this one was for you. Please feel free to mention any parts you had trouble with still and I can try to make it clearer for other members.

Anyways, it's really quite simple. Assuming you've already got proper drivers installed on your computer to interact with your android device. Do you have them? Let me know if you don't.
Downgrade Firmware
1. First use that firmware you've got. 26.1.A.1.128. Otherwise, here's a link to downlaod it again if you forgot where it is. https://userscloud.com/vywbd26o2g1g

Hi
I've flashed E2303_26.1.A.2.167_CE.ftf and everything works fine but I still got the BL locked. if I flash other ftf I get no network signal on my phone, I just get signal with this ftf.
if I follow your instructions I will have .128 unlocked but I will still not have signal on my phone, right?
if I flash .167 after unlock the 128 will I get the .167 unlocked? if anything goes wrong and flash .167 again will everything works fine?
many thanks, and great detailed explanation on how to unlock our phone.

If I`ve understood correctly, it will remain unlocked:
1. Downgrade
2. Flash root through adb
3. Flash recovery through adb
4. Build pre-rooted upgrade zip
5. Flash with recovery
6. Now you're on .167 with root and bootloader locked.

Will we loose the DRM keys?
Can somebody check them after successful rooted firmware upgrade, please?
as long as the Bootloader is locked, the DRM keys are safe.

Guess I could have mentioned the first boot could take awhile.
I should also mention that because the bootloader is still locked that it is nearly, if not actually completely, impossible to brick your device. There is almost always a way back to a functional device.
I'm glad this all worked for you though.

Yeah man. Unfortunately you do gotta downgrade first if your bootloader is locked. Otherwise just do what the other guy said.
Here's what you do if you've got locked bootloader.

Hey can you help me with something? I'm trying to downgrade to .112 but when ever i try to flash it, it gives me an error on boot delivery, it says that there are some files missing. I already tried with several ftfs, and other flashtool version including latest one. The only ftf that i'm able to flash is stock 26.1.A.2.167 adn i got it from xperifirm. I already tried to flash everything except for bootboundle, but it will still get in a boot loop.
If you have flashed xperia m4, can you please tell me what flashtool version you used, and what ftf compilance? I have E2306.

Thank you, thank you all. I finally did it.
just some remarks that can help other guys with same issue:
1. I need to use the newest version of Flashtool. without the final patch 26.1.A.1.128 was always rebooting the phone.
2. After the last step (Installing the latest version of android while keeping root) I had version 167, network signal was working fine but mobile data doesn't. I went to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> ... More and clicked "Internet Settings". mobile data started working and no further issues found.
3. Finally, in the end I got .167 rooted but no able to enter the custom recovery. As my device was rooted I just repeated the step "Installing Custom Recovery on any firmware with root" and now everything was as expected.
many thanks
How to build prerooted .167 firware?

[GUIDE] How to unbrick P10 "easily"

Hello all,
First of all the story.
I used the script to rebrand, it has a fail but the phone still working.
One evening, i decided to wipe all by twrp and re run the unbrand script..... that was a huge error, the phone boot but boot loop, and after, the script stuck an no recognise the twrp on the phone.
Tried lot of things like flashing recovery etc in fastboot but nothing else happen than a boot and a black screen with nav bar only.
At this point i think the problem is that i was unable to flash cust.img with fastboot
Whad did I Do?
(Bootloarder must be unlock)
1st: Crying.
2nd: read tons of things on XDA
3rd: Try to re run the script but fail because the phone was still rooted.
4th: Crying
5th: Read lot of other things on XDA
6th: this is the good IDEA
7th: Download Huawei firmware finder
8th: Download Huawei Multitool
9th: Download Huawei Update Extractor
10th: download by the tool the full OTA firmware and dependencies (in my case VTR-L09C432)
11th: extract the update.app (chose "other" for phone model) from the big "update.zip" dowloaded before an put it in a folder of your choice
12th: extract the update.app from the "update_all_hw_xxx" dowloaded before an put it in other folders, just incase of files could have the same names (not sure of it)
13th: run Huawei Multitool (il will create a folder in the path of where the app is when you click, the folder you need is "unbrick")
14th: choose 6 on Huawei multi tool, it will show you what img's you need, and you need everthing exept data.img (the cus.img is in folder wehre you extract update_all_hw_xxx) in "unbrick" folder -> Place the .img needed in the "unbrick" folder (very important)
15th: boot your phone in bootloader mode (phone off, vol-down+plug USB)
16th: clic the button to launch procedure (press N)
17th: have a coffee during the upload it'll ask to reboot
18th: If the problem is solved: cool, stop here
IF NOT: shutdown the phone
19th: Go in classic recovery: Phone off, Vol-Up + Plug USB, when huawei logo stop pressing vol-up
DO NOT BOOT eRecovery, it will not help
20th: in classic recovery do factory reset AND cache reset
21th Reboot
You can relock your bootloader if you want with your code.
The only thing i don't know to do and if someone can telle me is, before the flash of every things or at a moment, if i can flash via ADB the OEM info for an official bootloader relock.
Thx to @mankindtw, @worstenbrood and @inside!out
Hope it will help, it work for me.

When you download the 3 files of the firmware, place them where you want.
When you lauchn Huawei Multitool, it will create the "unbrick" folder in the Huawei Multitool folder (my bad) not "brick", i update the first post.
When you use Huawei Update Extractor, you have choices for type of firmware, chose other.

omg, how do you do that? you mean a advanced mode is in recovery mode or erecovery mode? I brought p10 at bell, I just couldnt find its firmware number.
ive done everything in this thread. the multitool installer finished without errors, then i did vol up + vol down + power, and it froze at 5 percent "installing update" then entered a reboot loop. then i tried a factory reset with vol up + power and it stoped at 25 percent.

opt 6 is in my memory "unbrick" or recover.
You have to put all the .img files needed exept data.img that is not possible to heve because this file is on your phone and encrypted.
Thanks for helping me, how can I tell what .img files are needed? I can't see anything that will tell me this?

I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused on the intructions:-
I downloaded the full update zip file from the url using the firmware finder, there was another url link that came up called full/public/update - do I need the zip for this too?
I extracted the update zip to a folder and then extracted the update.app file using the Huawei update extractor.
Now I have a very long list of .img files in the extractor and I'm not clear what I need to do next i.e do I move them all into the unbrick folder on the tool?
Hi, I have since been able to extract the right files for the multi-tool. I extracted them again from the extractor. I now have placed them into the unbrick file. My problem now is that I can't run the tool - when I open the multi-tool .bat file its asking for a proxy port, where can I find this?
