Quite a few installed, and stock, apps loads itself after boot.
In my case, stock:
Stock internet browser
Google Search
Settings
Gallery
Messages
Installed:
Titanium Backup
Script Manager
I don't use widgets from any of these and I see no reason why I should they should run, in my case.
I don't want to freeze them and wonder if Startup Manager, or any other apps is of any use or doesn't it do any good. Startup Manager is like msconfig in win7. You can tick off apps you don't want to run. But, of course, Startup Manager has to run un boot.
Any views on this?

In almost every ROM are apps which are not really needed to run the phone.
I use Cyanogenmod and every Nightly comes with the same "safe to remove apps"... I'd like to stay uptodate with every nightly BUT i always get these not needed apps.
So I start removing them 1by1 with TitaniumBackup which takes time and sometimes I forget one or another app.
Is there a app which can remove apps that I can define in a list? How are you handle those barebones?
(I guess a good alternetive would be ADB or a terminal script)
temesek has a script that you can flash, after flashing a CM7 ROM, to do this. You can adapt it to add the Apps that you usually remove. The script can be found in his mediafire folder. See here:

It's called System App Remover iirc
Edit: Personally i just use Root Explorer, and with W/R and Multi-Select enabled, i just run down the list in /System/App and delete all the ones i don't need.
I've been testing out some custom ROMs and have noticed one thing: I no longer have some of my favorite apps that came with the phone. Apps such as the file and task manager are no longer around on my phone. Anyone know where I can go to download those stock apps?
If you are on a Blur ROM look for the "bloat ware restore" .zip in the thread of the ROM you are running. If you are on AOSP ROM you wont be able to restore bloat ware. Download apps from the Market that do the same functions, in most cases you will find there are apps in the Market that perform better. For file management Root Explorer, and for task management Watchdog.
Hi!
I have TB with Pro key. When I do backup of all applications and settings, wipe device (install new rom) and then restore them again, those applications, which were launching in background after system startup are not launching anymore.
I have to start them manually and I suppose they get "registered" somehow somewhere and from then it's ok and apps launch automatically after system startup.
Problem is that I have to do this for each app that starts after system startup, which is quite annoying.
Is there any way to simply fix this? Something like "reregister startup apps" button in TB?
Thanks
Hi,
I have this problem too.
I've read somewhere that it is a limitation 'caused by android OS itself, that installed app service can not run automatically after installation, and it should be explicitly run by the user.
Isn't there any solution for it? it's so annoying
I´m having two problems:
1. I installed AceCream V 1.4 - juancambb, and i had to install swype (the ROM doesn´t have stock swype), and this swype it's causing my screen to start flickering from time to time when i open my facebook or twitter apps, and it only stops when i use the task manager to free some RAM.
2. Whenever i use the task manager, the swype i installed ceases to be my selected entry method, and i have to re-select it manually, and again from time to time, it deletes the facebook and twitter accounts, and i have to keep putting my info to access them.
I'm tired of doing this manually, what do you suggest?
Has anyone noticed apps locking up? I did a restore from my Nexus 7 and I notice lag and apps freezing or not working. Wondering if its because of the restore or just 5.0 and 64bit being so new.
Good question!
Yeah I noticed apps misbehaving when I restored from Nexus 10. Deleting and installing from scratch helped somewhat. But still:
Archos Video player crashes and doesnt work unless it is invoked from another app, used to crash all the time after restore
ES File manager doesn't have all the associations - for example it wont give the option to open CBR files via Perfect Viewer, despite re-installing both
AnTuTu crashes once every 2 tries ( used to crash every time after the restore )
