[Q] Apt-X on Galaxy S II? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Does anyone know if our Bluetooth 3.0 supports the Apt-X codec? I am trying to track it down, and can't seem to find anything stating wether it does or doesn't. The closes thing I can find is that the new HS3000 Bluetooth Headset which was brought out around the time of the GSII and marketed as one of the "Accessories" for the GSII supports Apt-x. If it doesn't support Apt-X how hard would it be to add it?
I should clarify Apt-X is an audio codec that allows Bluetooth Audio to sound much higher quality, CD-Audio Quality.

Up. Really interested to hear anything about this compatibility or possible port too.
Atp-x seems great on paper, would like to check this out IRL now !

Up.
Also extremely interesting in knowing this ..

Apple made MacOS compatible so that it works with every laptop...
So it sure is software =)

Up ! Just got myself an apt-x receiver, so if anyone has any advice to use it without buying a +50$ usb key, please let me know !
(well I won't switch to HTC either, before you ask)

You mean which receiver ? If so, the samsung one (HS3000).
Perfect for my use (connected to the amp)

Is there a way to tell if SGS2 running stock ICS 4.0.3 is playing bluetooth using the APT-X codec? Is it shown somewhere under Settings?

Unless you already ported the apt-x codec to your device, it's not, since it's not compatible.

For information Apt-X is natively supported on the Samsung Galaxy S III

Unfortunately, the Galaxy SII doesnt support Apt-x:

Maybe this would be a cool thing to port...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038840
See here. EVO as your desktop. EVO and Thunderbolt are pretty similar right? So maybe we could port this. The only thing is the HDMI. We will need a way to get around that. So my question is, could we port this?
I don't see how this is possible without some kind of video output from the device. The only other alternative is VNC to the device (which defeats the entire purpose of this).
Droid vnc server is a nifty app. Id think id like it

I thought the micro-usb slot was an MHL slot, which means we just need a cable that is MHL compatible.
Other than that, I don't know why not. It would give a dev something to do
Let me throw one word out here for you guys to converse about.

No, in all seriousness, if the micro-usb is actually MHL compliant, then nothing would have to change in the set-up instructions..

I was thinking the same. That's not it's intentions, but I've seen some of these developers do more amazing things than make that work
If anyone wants to attempt this I'll gladly beta test.
The OP in the EVO forums said if there were enough interest he would assist on porting it over.
"I will be handling port requests through my website. If there is enough demand and the device can support it, I will work with developers to get this ported to your device. Start a thread in your respective device's forum to see if there is enough demand and refer them to this thread and the website for details.
To make things easier you device needs the following:
The ability to run a CyanogenMod 7 ROM
High resolution video out (HDMI preferred for ease of porting) Lokifish Marz"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038840
1) So the questions are is there enough support!?
2) Is our device similar enough to do this?
Put me down for this!!!

That would be fantastic. I could go to customers houses and do their contracts right infront of them instead of @ the office.
This would be cool, maybe even a good reason to get the HTC dock when it comes out. If we can get a HDMI hook up working I would give this a try even with out the dock.

Side note, does or will the TB have the hdmi "support" the Evo does?

Never mind... Just realized we don't have the HDMI port. Lame. DLNA it is...

There's a adapter for HDMI for our phone
But I believe the reason why they left it out is because of Bluetooth 3.0 and the ability to stream HD movies through it

ThunderBolt has the same MHL jack as the EVO 3D/Sensation, but it requires the software to use it, we may get that support in the Gingerbread update.
The only reason its not one of the specs or a known feature is because of this missing software support.
When the ThunderBolt was initially leaked on the Verizon site before launch, the developer site leaked all the details about what accessories it would support and an "HDMI adapter" was listed, and that said adapter is the microUSB to HDMI cable, which will also charge the phone via HDMI.
Now you know why HTC didn't have a native HDMI port, because its actually the USB jack
This would be fantastic, I wish someone would work on it but I am not sure if it is possible.

The description says:
"Bluetooth does work via the "sixaxis tool" on Android Market (requires root). It is however limited and doesn't work with Riptide GP nor Shadowgun (gamepad not detected). It does work with a few emulators after some tweaking, but it's far from as quick and easy as with a USB connection. "
ICS will have native support for controllers so its only a matter of time.
That is so cool. but does it not work via bluetooth?
really enjoyed this, as i know nothing about nothing. I wasn't sure if i could run good emulators on this thing... now i know.

kinda bummed BT doesn't work natively, but hopefully it will in ICS...
why do we have to make new treads as fast something comes up? This prime forum is just filled with ****. People need to take a breath before starting new threads just for fun or want to be seen. The quality is really low,

With the wireless dongle in the. Dock, it would. All I remember them saying and me seeing is them using the controller with it and it's supported. Now Remember, some games don't support the bt controller option and will have to be used with controller plugged in. I think there's work around for that if game doesn't support it. some app in marketplace can't remember name of.
Its not a matter if Prime supports controller cuz it supports them all. It's a matter of if the game itself supports wireless gamepad or gamepad support. As far as I know, it's ShadowGun n riptide that doesn't support the wireless unless workaround used. I may be wrong on that, hopefully someone else chime in with more insight into that.
Any idea if third part Xbox360 controllers will work? I have a wired Afterglow controller that's picking up dust that I'd love to use over a BT wireless controller (to save on batteries). Just the fact that Google decided to support these controllers natively in ICS is so great. I love what Google has been doing over the past couple years! And people say iOS is user FRIENDLY. Pfft!

I like having different threads for different things. Seriously, look at all the posts this thread spawned. If someone doesn't have a wireless controller, nor care anything about wireless controller connectivity, why should they have to sort through all these posts in a generalized review thread? This way, they can easily ignore all this and focus on the things that are of interest.
Frankly I'm getting a bit annoyed every time someone posts something like "why does this have its own thread?" It's not like it costs XDA money for every new thread or something If you don't like that there are a bunch of different threads, don't read them! But don't ***** because people like organization or think things should be organized differently than you think they should.

True! I have asked a question about ten times on the same subject but never got my answer. My question was for developers about adding Onskreen Cornerstone but never got one response. I also had a question the other day about adding support for an app called 2nd core to the Gingerbread kernel but never got a response. I see a lot of "Know It Alls" in our forums for the Note. Everyone starts complaining when people ask questions instead of answering. The worst is when people keep tellin others they are asking questions in the wrong place but still offer no help to people. Trust me there are lots of smartasses over here that know nothing at all but think they know everything, it cracks me up. The crazy part is they make threads about showing screenshots of your homescreen lol and quadrant scores lollol and get a lot of post about this meaningless **** but can't or won't answer a question. I could car less how peoples phone looks and I hope they realize how corny they are for wanting everyone to see their homescreen LOLOLOLOL. One day I made a post about a Note clone and because I told people to google "Note clone" they got mad as hell. Like its hard to search. They were mad that I didn't post links to pics and videos. It turns people off from contributing when people are dicks. One monkey ruines the show for everyone. I have also seen threads where people would respond to a question but the only thing they would talk about was the typo the OP made like they don't ****up too. IDIOTS! By the way I don't have mhl but maybe you could ask a friend that has a known working HDMI cable to let you barrow it and try it for an hour and if it messes ip then its probably the MHL adapter.
what rom are you running? I used my adapter that came with my infuse when i first got my note and was still running stock with no issues at all. Video was perfect and sound as well. This was running on a 56in hdtv.
i have not tested the adapter with any other roms that i can remember, it has been a while since i have needed it. Try a different hdmi cable as you said it may be your problem.

That doesn't really help at all when the dock uses the garbage DAC inside the phone. I want to hook up something like a Fiio E7 to my phone, and have a DAC setup in my car and use my phone as a head unit by simply docking it in on a shelf. The only other alternative is spending $500 on the Pioneer Appradio 2 which uses MHL and I'm not even sure if that will work right on my phone. Bluetooth audio pretty much sucks, so I'm looking for a good solution to have my note act as the head unit of my car. I really wouldn't mind deleting my head unit entirely, this is why I want lossless audio from my phone, because it will enable me to use my phone for all my audio media needs more or less.
Ok. Who knew?

[Q] FM Transmitter Claim for OG

Came across this page when I was reading up before I bought my LGOG:
smartphones.techcrunch.com/compare/370-384/LG-Optimus-G-vs-HTC-One-X
The comparison page above boasts the LGOG has a built in FM Transmitter. I have an OG now and can't find anything out there or in here that guides me to an answer to my question: Does my smartphone have it or does it not? And, I know there isn't an app that enables it but maybe there is something i can do. Apologies to your mother if the topic has been covered for this phone. I know it has for others but I didn't find a single related post in any of the OG sections. Maybe someone can paste a link to some more reading or provide some feedback. Oh, also, thank you in advance and thanks to everyone who devs. You make it all worth it. Long time user/reader/learner/tryer, first time poster Cheers

I have asked this before, nobody seems to know.
My guess is the international ones may, we probably don't.
At the moment, Spirit FM doesn't support our phone.
If we do actually have a receiver, it doesn't seem enabled by default and would take a dev to figure it out.
The developer of this app was going to look into it, according to someone on irc. Also there was a question of whether the antenna was grounded, and if there needs to be support for it in kernal.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5taWtlcnNtaWNyb3MuZm1fbGkiXQ..
Doesn't work. They tried everything. The antenna is grounded/disconnected or whatever.

Fm is like 32 kb/s or some ridiculously low bit rate like that. You would be much better served by an aux cable or a2dp.
