Chainfire 3D BLACK SCREEN!! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I was messing with the nightmode and accidentally turned the sliders to ZERO. My screen is BLACK and I cannot get out of it!!! I'm rooted, cannot get adb to work or get in to recovery. I've tried holding home + volup + power and recovery will not work. How can I fix this!!?
If I can just get in to recovery I have a recent backup I can restore.

When you power up, do you see anything?
Pull the battery and then once you put it back in, hold down Vol up and down along with Power until you see the logo come up. Let go of all 3 buttons. You should then be in CWM shortly.

If you reinstall the Chainfire Driver the screen will go black again I discovered that the hard way. You need to edit the persist.cf4d.nightmode file located in /data/property . If your screen is all black the file properties are set for 0 0 0 and you need to change all the 0's to 255.

I acidently messed up with the chainfire 3d plugin and its now in night mode and the screen is totally black . Reboot wont work and uninstalling the program from adb too as it says permission denied. Some posts here in xda didn't help everytime it needed the permission. Is there a method to uninstall this program from adb?

Did u read the fix listed above? Just boot into CWM and restore a nandroid backup. Or wipe and install a new ROM. I don't use that app so I hope it gets u back up and running.

[Q] Cannot select options in ClockworkMod AT&T Galaxy S II

Hey all, I just got a new phone. First off, I'm really confused here... When I boot my phone it says GT-I9100 but according to XDA the AT&T version should be the i777. Please move this post if it is in the incorrect place.
I successfully rooted my phone using Odin, installed ClockworkMod, tried to make a backup before making any changes, but now while in recovery mode I can use the volume buttons to scroll around but cannot select anything from the menu. What button is normally used to select in CWM for the Galaxy S II that has the 4 touch buttons, not the big one in the center?
When I try to reboot my phone or pull the battery I get this:
-- copying media files...
successfully copied media files.
# MANUAL MODE #
--Updating application...
Successfully updated application.
--Applying Multi-CSC...
Can't access to '/system/csc/ATT/system/'.
Succesfully applied multi-CSC
Then the phone is stuck on a "reboot now" screen.
HELP PLEASE!!! Literally just got this phone, please don't tell me it's just an expensive paperweight now!

That's what worked for me.
Thanks for the info guys. It's good to know at least that I'm pushing the right buttons. Now I just need a fix since they're obviously not working. My phone will not boot past this. I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this issue or if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix it?
Have you tried to go back into download mode? If you can then I would get entropy's stock rom and reflash back to stock and try to start over.

Power button will not select options in ClockWorkMod
djbiker24seven, Was this ever resolved?
I'm having a simliar problem. I booted my phone into ClockworkMod 4.0.1.4 to install cyanogenmod and I can navigate just fine using the volume up/down buttons, but the power button will not select anything. If I press one of the soft buttons on the bottom of the phone, the screen just shows a fedora graphic. If i reboot the phone it constantly boots back into Clockwork and I can't break the loop. I can't get back into download mode either.
If anyone has any insight it would be appreciated.
Samsung Galaxy S II for AT&T (SGH-1777)
Home button for enter, Back button for....... well back. If that's not responding try reflashing a CWM kernel in Odin and try again from scratch.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesnt the SGSII require CM5+?
Yeah it does
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285823
In theory, someone could release a kernel with CM4.x for the I777 - but no one has.
If you're in CWM 4.x, I have NO clue what the hell you installed - it sure wasn't for your device.

**edit** this is the stock recovery, not recovery used to flash roms and create NAND backups.

this is true for BSR system recovery, for stock android recovery you do not need to be plugged in.
U might need to sbf if ur phone can't get into bootstrap via powerdown and plugging in.
or if a data wipe from Android stock recovery doesn't help.
There is a very nice tutorial on how to do it...a couple of em....one is a sticky so its easy to find...

Yeah...sbf isn't really that complicated...especially once u have all files/programs u need already installed it really.is only a 15min process depending on computer speed.
I use my sisters computer and the flash is done within 10minutes every time...
And yeah after rereading the op I also think they were looking for stock recovery.
Power and volume down. Then scroll wit volume down til u see android recovery. Then volume up to enter.
Once.u see triangle &exclamation point press volume up&down together. Presto.
But even still. Every time I have been stuck at M logo I needed to sbf...no amount of data wipes would help me...especially the first time it happen to me since I deleted init and build.prop. DURP! Lol

Titanium Backup-can't start phone

So I thought I had a working version of S voice on my ported VK Rom. I tried to use it after not using it all for a couple of weeks and it just kept saying "Say Hi Galaxy" but wouldn't respond.
I was looking to uninstall the apk along with all the other 80 mb worth of stuff in the .zip file, I found that using Titanium Backup one could uninstall system apps. All I did was use Titanium Backup to remove S voice...NOTHING ELSE WAS TOUCHED. At which point it tried to reboot but only to the boot screen then it would time out. I can't even enter into recovery using voume up/down and power.
I don't think it is bricked cuz it still turns on and lights up just not past the boot screen (I'm running the newest Siyiah kernel but can't even get to that boot image.)
Only thing worth mentioning would be that I did change the boot screen image using an app I found within a .zip file for SGS3 but I rebooted three or four times before trying to uninstall s voice using titanium backup, which is where the problems started.
I did find other Android users with different phones who experienced similar problems and it seems the only solution, at least for their problems, was to re-install stock firmware.

You should still be able to boot into CWM. Pull the battery and hold vol up+down and press power. If it works just reflash your rom or nandroid restore. If you really can't get back into CWM recovery, can you get into download mode (vol down+power)? If so, use Odin to flash back. READ CAREFULLY if you have never used Odin before.
To be honest, it sounds like you inadvertently uninstalled the wrong app. Always be careful when using TiBu to uninstall system apps. Hope things work out.
did you try entering download mode and using Odin?
i'm having this same problem except i tried to uninstall the google play store with titanium backup and i let it reboot and like your phone it booted to the boot screen then powered off c.c i've tried booting it into recovery mode but the screen only boots to the boot screen once then turns off again, and i can't even get it to go into download mode because it literally does nothing x.x i've also tried pulling the battery while it was off and putting it back in but that also doesn't work so are there anymore solutions i can try?

If no,tell what rom you where trying to install, and we WILL fix it.

I was trying to use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850. And I don't have it CWM installed. First I did the Intl. so the digitizer was responding up-side down and then I tried getting it back to US but didn't work. This is my first android device so I don't know much but if there is another way or post which tells how to get back to factory perfectly fine then tell me.
The reason I did this all was because whenever I tried to turn on the wifi it said Error and sometime turning on and then error again.
You mean wifi don't work?At what rom is this happening?stock or the one you installed?look,if you don't have CWM you can't install a ROM,so neither brick your device.I'm sorry, but there is a chance to fix it ONLY if you find a way into download mode.I am starting now the post about CWM.In about half an hour it will be posted and I will give the link

[Q] HELP! I think i hard bricked my S4

Anyone's help would be FANTASTIC!
I downloaded and installed LiquidSmooth 2.6.5 on 06/15/13 wiped everything necessary, went to reboot and it said i wasnt rooted would i like to install SuperSU, i installed it and it rebooted to a black screen and wont go any further. all it does is vibrate every couple of seconds. Is there ANYTHING i can do to get back into TWRP recovery? stock recovery? flash the stock image with Odin? it wont boot into TWRP, or download mode.
Please help, might have bricked my hard earned Verizon S4
Hi,
I've recently just installed the TeamWin Recovery Project.
my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 has been rooted, and I even checked with some application on the Google Play market, and it has indicated that it indeed was rooted.
But I still kept on getting the annoying "some application need attention blah blah blah..." in the notification bar, and when I click it it gave me options reboot now or reboot later.
Of course I clicked "reboot now" and after a while, I messed up on my cyananogen mod I guess and I recovered using TWRP through a back up that I have already made prior to flashing the CM 10.1. And it was working normally.
Then I some how went to the TWRP again and it said that my phone wasn't rooted any longer! So I swiped the "root the device now" knob thing and ever since then it has been stuck in the "samsung" screen with the unlocked labeled as "custom" underneath.
Even if I try to do Volume Up + Power + Home button it doesn't send me back to the TWRP screen, rather I see the indication that TWRP has been initiated, but it just crashes and turns my phone off.
When I do Volume down + Power + Home button I can get to the Download mode, but it doesn't seem like my computer can recognize the device.
After the Download page and I push the Volume Up button for the actual download mode on the top left it says
Odin Mode
Product name: SCH-I545
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
CSB-OEM_Config-LSB: 0x30
Write Protection: Enable"
Click to collapse
And when I do get to this point my computer does recognize the phone and I know this by hearing the usb connection sound that a computer makes.
How do I get my phone back to factory state so that I can maybe once again trying rooting it again?
Thanks in advance.
and I apologize for so much information even if the rules say that I should be brief as possible, but it felt like the details were needed. (correct me if I'm wrong).

I can't get into the download/odin screen. When I press power + home + volume down it just vibrates.
I don't understand how I could have hard-bricked the phone just by formatting.
Just before rebooting, CWM prompted me "saying root access might be lost" and I hit ignore.

Boot phone into ODIN mode (power off the phone, then press and hold Vol Down + Power then press Vol Up). I think you might have done it wrong.

Thanks DarkMenace. I was able to restore my phone. For some weird reason it refused to go in Odin mode if I didn't have a USB cable plugged in.
I used the stock image, just wondering if I'm still rooted?

I have the same issue after flashing Liquid-JB-v2.5-OFFICIAL-d2vzw yesterday 6/19/13. Wiped everything, factory reset, hit reboot, it said my device appeared not to be rooted and asked if i would like to install SuperSU. I said yes to install it. When my device rebooted, I got a black screen and my phone won't go any further. It just vibrates, every 2 or 3 seconds. I can get it into download mode. I tried to flash the stock firmware back onto it but when it reboots after, it goes back to black screen and vibrate. Thanks.

Just curious on something.... Not trying to be a jerk. Why are you sending pm's instead of replying in the thread? If your pm is helping this person I'm sure it could help many people if it was in the thread. Unless your a Verizon employee with secret unbricking files or something

Responded to you via PM as to not start any issues here.
I am in a similar situation, I am able to get into Odin mode, though my model number is SCG-I545 if that makes a difference.
