See here: http://desirefanatics.wordpress.com...-the-htc-desire-s-hd-a-step-by-step-tutorial/. There are some ICS ports but they are still in their early stages. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313577.

As someone pretty experienced with Android, I'm embarrassed to have to ask this, but I'm at my wits end with this issue. How in the heck do you upgrade the Market app to the latest version on a stock/unrooted MT4G? My friend's phone is stock. When they had Froyo, it was easy to download the latest version from XDA and install it like a normal app. Ever since they got the GB OTA update, I get the "installation failed" message when trying to install.
The reason we need the latest version is the 10 cent discounted promotional prices don't show up on the old version...the app's regular price is listed.

Good idea, very simple. However, this person is very cautious when it comes to rooting and possibly voiding the warranty (even if temp rooting doesn't actually do that). I was hoping there was a Market build intended for stock phones, or that the new version could be pushed OTA to the phone somehow (shouldn't that have happened a long time ago anyway?).

One of the first things I tried.
I know it doesn't solve the market problem but what about buying on market.android.com

The phone already received the GB OTA update, so as I understand it Visionary won't work. Do newer versions of Visionary work, or is there some other way of gaining temp root?

EDIT: yup, before downgrading, you gotta temp root first with fre3vo.

My dear michiganian....It is 12/30/11 and i did an ota update for the HTC Mytouch 4 g slide from the settings menu and VOILA ! I've got the android 2.3.4 update that includes the latest Market Appl. Your sorrow and mine too is over ! Lucky us
Well let me start by saying I have rooted phones before, so I know a decent amount of the processes. But it's been a while.
My question is, is there currently a one click root method for an sgs2 on sprint running ics 4.0.4? A friend of mine just got one and he wants me to root it for him like I did his evo a while back.

I believe that method was patched in 2.3.6, and this guy is on 4.0.4. (and this is still in the wrong forum for him)
Greetings,
long story short I was doing some test on ROMs went to CM7 and other version then blackout ICS but all fails with me since CM doesn't have Internet-pass through and BK ICS has hotspot and VoIP problems + some lacking, so I went back to RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_ARA_3.13.415.2_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_227469_signed
which made me lose my root but comes with Android version 2.3.5, for rooting it tired to use SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse , unlook root 2.4.2 and finaly aahk-11092012, the first 2 didn't work out with, on the other hand AAHK made it root..etc but with a cost that have to downgrade to 2.3.3, so I'm back to square one is how to root 2.3.5 without down grading?
I believe i have something missing and I don't know what it it.
I have read these before posting

Just to let you know once again this is the HTC legend forum you wont find answers for any other phone unless someone who uses the legend forum also has the same phone as you, so you are better off asking your question in the correct forum.

Hey just wanted everyone to know where they could find the stock RUU for the rezound. I've been searching for a week now and finally found a good link. This is not the global RUU. This is the one that use to be on android police but was taken down when htc started cracking down on everything. Hope this helps someone and hopefully the mods dont take this down but if they do sorry for posting.

I gave you that link in your other thread, if that's what you mean by you "finally found" it.
I read in a post in the Q&A that someone just downloaded the global RYUU from Android Police and I just clicked through to be sure before coming back to report here and at least one of the mirrors is working now. They seem to have re-allowed the downloads once it was made clear that HTC was just concerned about that one site that had their logo and name on it.
Well Damn. That's my mistake lol. I used the zip you have me but I never clicked the other link bc you said it was the global ruu and I already had that one. In any case thanks a lot just a misread on my part

Hey Guys!
I am new to the Thunderbolt and I was just wondering if there was a really nice and easy way to root the Thunderbolt like the Galaxy Nexus 1-Click [GNEX TOOLKIT V11.1.0]?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

This is currently the only working method to unlock, root and s off a thunderbolt that is running stock ics.

Thanks I'll give it a shot ya it seems other roms are creating BSOD on windows so hopefully this one works!
Man! Was the Thunderbolt not that popular? I thought it was... There is like 50 steps in that rooting process.
Why has not somebody developed a 1 click or simplified rooting program for the Thunderbolt? Just curious.
Do you know of any other way to root it without it taking forever or having extensive knowledge about rooting?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A new hboot came with our ics update which added about 20+ steps. It also made the old method from the allinone tool obsolete.

If you can find the Thunderbolt which had stock GB you can downgrade to the ENG HBOOT. It will never update if you run full stock. (plus there are several other different things you can do with it)

As far as I know it didn't work correctly. You can try it you want though. Remember that's a beta though.

I came from an Incredible 2. Broke the screen on that, but a friend was upgrading, so I grabbed his old Thunderbolt for a few beers. Surprised that this phone is tougher to root and there are less ROM options, but it's a solid phone and now I'm using Santod's Jelato ICS De-Sensed.
I used the thunderbolt tool to get root and s-off about a month ago, and it did work. I remember I did have to switch from my desktop to a laptop because of BSOD issues described in the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703455&page=54 TBTool thread. I linked to the page where they discuss the BSOD and the need for ICS radios when flashing ICS ROM.
Good luck. I does work.
The thunderbolt tool will work if you're on the old hboot and or GB. It will not work for you if youre on the ICS hboot.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
As far as ROMs go it depends on which os version you are talking about. GB there was many different roms to choose from. Only reason there are so few ICS ROMs is by the time ICS was released almost call the devs had moved on to the gnex,n4,s3,DNA, so on and so forth. If HTC would have gave the bolt ICS when ICS came out the phone would have had many ICS ROMs..
Rooting if rooting a GB bolt was easier than rooting a rezound. Granted they made it harder with ICS but that's with all phones with updated bootloaders.

downgrade from ICS/root/S-0ff with 1.1Beta TOOL
I can confirm that today I used Santod040's amazing ThunderBolt-Tool 1.1 Beta on a sweet used TBolt
that had taken the latest OTA. It did the job! Now I'm S-0ff and running a custom rom that does WiFi Tether good.
Thanks for great effort, Santod040......
What made you ask that in this forum lol? It would appear though that most of the newer devices aren't that easy to root just yet. The HTC one for Verizon currently is still locked out.
