I have a SGS2 branded with tmobile.. i unbranded it and rooted it. after using it for a day I saw that i loose reception totally when i turn on the data connection. I have to reboot everytime.. and then after a few minutes it gets lost again! I have tried different modems/roms .. and now im back to the branded rom/modem/kernel, but i still get the same ****!.. when i try to turn on/off the airplane mode to prevent rebooting.. it gets stuck there too.. I've read that more people have had this problem.. So please someone help me out here.. I have a new SGS2 but i cant use it!
I'd start by making sure your device has all the correct T-mobile APN's configured
I have entered the APN manually.. the device is sim unlocked.. im not using a t-mobile simcard in it.. but its on the tmobile network though

I was just wondering if anyone has had trouble switching from 2G-to-3G and back? I'm on Orange and once I'm on 2G it won't budge to 3G or H.
I know the signal is there as when I force the phone into WCDMA only mode it picks up 3G but if that's not available it's obviously not able to switch back down.
Update: Okay, I've done both a soft and hard reset on the phone, switched it to WCDMA and back to Auto several times, pulled the battery out to do a few cold reboots, selected 'Orange' as my carrier manually and I'm STILL not picking up 3G after I've gone down to 2G. I don't really want to flash my phone via Odin as there's no guarantee it will work and I don't want to lose updates via Kies.
Any idea that to do?
Update 2: Just re-flashed using Odin as per the guide and it still doesn't work.

Update 3: After all of that it looks like it was bloody Orange's fault! There is a fault with the 3G in Bristol which is forcing people to use WCDMA only for now. Hopefully it'll all be fixed by tomorrow and I nabbed a fiver off 'em.

There are extensive threads in this forum regarding 2g/3g switiching issues or connectivity issues..try and search it, maybe yours is having the same problem.

Oh not a-bloody-gain! They've already replaced my phone for another one and now I have to reflash?! I'm getting a little sick of this phone (or rather its software) now.

I've the same problem phone won't automatically switch to 3g unless i change it to WCDMA only. My last phone a i8910 would automatically switch to 3g for internet access if available the s2 doesn't......

I rooted my SGS2 yesterday, using Chainfire post, and noticed that i have lost the HSDPA signal that i got before. I have reflashed the phone back to the stock firmware and i still dont pick up any 3g or HSDPA. My download speed via network is shocking, something like 40kbps. Is there something that i need to change to get back on to HSDPA?

I had this, i am on t-mobile (uk) and the phone had connected to the orange network sicnce they now share netowk. Reconnected to t-mob and was then fine, hth.
Thats right... t-mobile (uk) on orange network only does 2G..
Going back to OP... please check the APN settings...by default it might had got reset to GPRS settings...
If in UK..which network are you on...?
i have no clue about APN settings on other countries..

some one give me a hand here in Australia. i have just upgraded the phone to 2.2.2 v10c. and a few days after that i can no longer connect to 3g. not even my phone company Amaysim can see anything wrong from their end. they use the optus network. the technician says looks like the phone timed out the connection as it shows 3g connection for a few seconds after the phone gets turned on each time, and quickly dissapeared again. we tried all the possible settings. some one know how to fix it?
But the signals are OK right?

Try to take a note of your current APN settings, then delete the APN.
Make a new one, search for network and register.

i have a galaxy mega gt i9152 dual sim international phone. im runnin an att compatible straight talk sim, i have service, but mobile network type says edge2. really slow data. i have the correct apn settings. ive even been to att and they tried one of their sim cards and still couldnt figure it out. if i select gsm/wcdma auto connect it will show the high speed data logo but the data dont work at all, if i dial #*#*4636*#*# it says wcdma preffered, but im usin gsm networks, it wont let me change it to anything besides gsm only, but then its stuck on edge again. theres some other secret menu i tried to get into debug mode where there is supposudly a setting to lock it to 2g or 3g but when i dialed it just said USSD code running, and then displayed my phone number. it was rooted and unlocked when i got it, i flashed it with stock firmware, still had the same issue, i tried a few different countries of firmware, no difference, currently running the uae jellybean stock firmware. i tried calling samgsung and they said i have to call the country of orgin which i guess is india, so i got an international calling card that i guess cant make toll free international calls. so im at a roadblock, i know its gotta be something stupid but i cant figure it out, been messin with it for 2 weeks and searching forums till my eyes bleed, so im makin my own thread now.
so now that ya know my situation, what do i do, how do i get my fone to work on 3g
Hello people. I am hoping for some help. Have s4 mini I9195. Unlocked. Currently I am connected to T-Mobile network. However can only get 2g in my area. So bought, activated, registered, and paid for att account. Now have both T-Mobile and att. However, when plugging in the att aim it WILL NOT connect to att. I get 4 Signal bars on phone but no connection. Have correct apn. Spent two hours with att it's not on their end. Sim card works fine in different phones and other att sims WILL NOT work in my phone. So we know it's NOT a Sim issue. And remember T-Mobile network is connected and working. Only att is the problem and will not connect. Any ideas?? Please help??
I'm on the verge of flashing custom recovery, rom, gapps, to maybe fix this but want to make sure I am not missing something more simple first.
I've done all the basic stuff from resetting phone, apns, closest tower, etc.. Just see seems like phone will not accept att now. It did for first night for about 15 mins got texts and Signal, but nothing since. I am stumped.
