What ROM are you going to use to try it? Because if it works for you on alien or something it wont work for the people on CM7.

Just follow OP instructions, as far as I know, framework and systemui are common to cm7, so it should work. Just keep a nandroid backup if something goes wrong...

ALWAYS do a backup when installing files for framework or system or anything that messes with the ROM. And most likely it will over-write the panels considering that when you install nightlies or the beta it installs the sytem-ui, framework and all that good stuff

For future reference, this probably belongs in themes and apps.
Anyways, you can probably pull it from the system dump. Is there one for somewhere?
Here it is. Havent tested on a Fascinate yet though. http://www.droid-life.com/2011/01/10/download-droid-thunderbolt-boot-animation-for-droid-x-and-2/
Ok installed and works. Well copied the bootanimation.zip over anyways. Didnt cwm install it.
Thanks. When you installed the bootanimation.zip, how did you do it? Better yet, where did you place it?

You put it in system/media. Should replace the one that is already there. Check your system folder and put it wherever your current one is. You'll need to rename it bootanimation.zip.

Sure thing. Post your results if you would. And also which ROM you're currenlty running?
I tried Rom SC2.6, Stock Eb01 Deodexed, and SC 2.7.1. All I get is a blank screen during boot up.
Edit: n00b mistake....I got it to work now! Works on all three roms I mentioned above.
How do I change the boot screen without flashing a new one using Root Explorer?
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
are you on hboot 1.4 or 1.5...
and by the way, not a good idea. how much longer does it take to edit the name of a .zip, move it to the root of your SD and boot to bootloader?
Maybe I asked the wrong question. What's the easiest way to change the boot animation and how do I do it? I'm on 1.5 BTW.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
boot screen or boot animation... big difference between the two.
and you cannot change the boot logo (boot screen, splash screen, whatever you wanna call it) unless you are s-off (NAND unlocked)
boot animations are easy, just a matter of replacing a file in root explorer.
Yeah I'm talking about the animation. Where is the correct file located?

it dependa on the ROM and/or theme you're running, post that info, I think I know the answer for most
Ok, I'll bite. I've got the stock 2.17.651.5 rooted ROM. Where's it located, and where can I find new boot animations?
well, since you had root explorer, run a file search from root...
search for "bootanimation.zip" or i think some of them are even called "sprint_bootanimation.zip"
is that correct duce? been a long time since i have played with a boot anim...
also, your custom animation needs to be renamed to match the name of the one that came with your ROM, and placed in the same location.
---------- Post added at 01:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:35 PM ----------
edit... before you search, look in /data/local

stock should be:
/system/customize/resource/Sprint_Bootanimation.zip
as for finding new ones, there's zillions, some in the market, some one xda, other forums, etc.

so long as the bootanim wasn't changed when you applied area51, it should be the same as listed above, although it's possible it's in /data/local/bootanimation.zip as suggested above.

here is a themed system apk, use ADB push or root explorer to copy to system/app folder, and set all read & write permissions for the apk. thanks to itiskonrad for his tutorial and theme, also thanks to the whole XDA commuinty for there guidance
I forget to mention to reboot after you set the permissions
I fixed the status bars, now all i need to do is change the clock color to white

I tried this and it looks good! reminds me of the neutrino rom that I had on my Atrix 4g. Please do post an update once you change the clock to white font. Thanks!
Also, do you happen to have the stock SystemUI.apk file?
Looks great but is the black status bar the only modification? Either way I want this. I hate the gray bar haha
Also, when I put it in the folder, do I have to do anything with the current SystemUI.apk or simply write over it? If so, assuming I want to go back to the old SystemUI, how do I get that?

Rename your old SystemUI.apk to something like SystemUI.apk.bak and just leave it there. That way you have your backup ready to go if you need it.

Well I just did everything and I rebooted and got a "Unfortunately, SystemUI has stopped."
What did I do wrong? Under ES File Explorer, all the read and write boxes were checked and the execute boxes were unchecked.

I even tried clearing cache and dalvik cache. Same problem.
Use root explorer. Also you could be using the base ROM and not a stock rom. That might cause a fc because the base has a modified systemUI.apk so some of the settings he made wouldn't work anymore.

I will try to update it so it will work with the Base.

Hmm maybe it was the file explorer app. I didn't want to have to pay for Root Explorer since I was under the impression ES File Explorer offered me the exact same stuff.
Yeah es file explorer definitely handles files different. That's why I broke down and paid for Root explorer, I never regretted it, IMO it is the best one out there.

Hi, I am running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Verizon with the GSM Patch on my GSM Razr from Germany. Everything is working fine unless I try this Razr I's homescreen from this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055361
The problem comes after rebooting the phone. It actually boots up, but when the screen is unlocked, homescreen stops working. And everything else stops working as well. I am really not sure what I am doing bad but I have to flash the whole update and gsm patch to make it working again.
Thanks in advance.

It's probably GSM Patch problem. I suggest clean install with new gsm patch here. New patch based on chinese JB libs and build.prop, old one seems on ics libs.
Patch
also you can restore my system backup which include new patch and removed verizon's apps, also rooted.
Backup
and I am running circle widget and razr i launcher on my rom without any problems

Due to the fact that you have only two files from that thread, you have to walk this way:
Delete those Homescreen.apk and Circlewidget.apk you've installed from that thread, rename homescreen.apk and Homeconfig.apk to homescreen.backup and Homeconfig.backup then copy/paste the five files from the /apps folder i provided, set them "rw-r--r--"permission, then tap on Circlewidget.apk,Homescreen.apk and Wether.apk and install them, then copy/paste the two files from the /libs folder to /system/lib, set them "rw-r--r--" permission too, reboot, enjoy.
Well it didn't work again... home screen stopped working... Maybe it's because of that gsm patch I have installed...however, I'm gonna wait until EU JB is released and then I'll try it again. Thanks though.

No need to set any permissions if u install from CWM
