Hi guys i have a samsung galaxy s2 and the phone is amazing no doubt about that but the dissapointing thing i have realised is i can backup all my contacts etc. but i cant back up my apps at all which i really need.
I do not want to root my phone because i can not take the risk of bricking it and all i need to know is there any way i can backup all my apps onto pc or somewhere.
The only reason i need to backup is because i have heard that when you update the phone's firmware it removes everything.
Last but not least if i got a micro sd card would i be able to back up all my apps to it and then restore from it as well.
Thanks guys.

-on the fly backup
Can be found in market.

Hi
Just about to transfer from the Desire to Galaxy S II.
I just had a question regarding making the transition as smoothly as easily as possible.
My Desire is currently rooted and running ledroid 2.4.
If I take a Titanium backup on the Desire, would I be able to install this onto the Galaxy II and do a restore of just the apps with saved data?
Any tips from moving to one Android phone to another would be great.
Thanks
backup your desire with TB then, copy the TB file from your phone over to the galaxy S II, run TB on your new phone and done!
Doesnt TB need root??
if not: daaammnn i missed a trick there
TB needs root. There is now a way to root the SGSII but it seems a bit complex. Hopefully by the time I get my SGSII (Friday at the earliest, if I'm lucky!) they'll have something akin to Unrevoked
Download MyBackup Pro which can backup apps an all your data to either an SD card or the web and then restore on the GS2.
It's what I did
is it just as good as TB though?

Is it really so hard to take and hour or two and set up everything on the new phone and not restoring from different phone..
It looks like Backup Pro won't restore my games (incl. Angry Birds) scores without rooting I'm guessing. :-(

tbh if you follow the beginners guide it's easy. Im no expert but i managed it in under 5 mins.
give it ago.
btw when i installed TB it didn't see my backups, i backed up someting on the phone and all the backups appeared.
Hey guys, I just got my S3 yesterday. I encountered some problems and I think should be no one met this problem, hope some of you can help me.
Previously I was using SGS, and I rooted and flashed a custom rom which is this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1442169&highlight=doc+s+rom
So, I did Titanium Backup and GO backup (for spare) on SGS. On S3, I rooted it for installing Titanium Backup, I copied the Titanium Backup files and move it all into my S3 through PC.
Both devices running on same android version 4.0.4, SGS is on custom rom but S3 is still on stock rom. At first I think my files on SGS can be transfer and backup on S3, but eventually I did all the backups, but all the apps (only user apps) are still cannot open, such as LINE, Talkbox, Whatsapp and etc. Open the app and it will close it automatically.
And also, some of the apps such as LINE needs to register with the phone number. Previously I registered on SGS, now my number transfer to S3 and LINE cannot be open in SGS anymore. When I backup in S3 and it ask me to register with phone number, and I did, but it became a new app, no chat history, no added friends. Is it because I register on S3 and so my SGS does not recognize the LINE app?
What I concerned about is the chat history, I need it so much. Everytime I flashed a new custom rom, I did the backups on SGS, from GB 2.3.3 until ICS 4.0.4, and the backups are works. But this time, I really cannot figure out what problem I am having now.
I still using the same number, from a normal SIM to micro SIM,
1. Is it because does not working to transfer file from different devices?
2. Is it because my number use on a new device, and all the previous data cannot be transfer?
Any kind soul please give me some guidance?
I really NEED to transfer the old chat history into my S3, I don't want to lose it because it is my memories.
generally its not advisable to restore a backup of one device to another device, but as you said its working for you earlier. try restoring the apps alone in TB and later restore the data of the specific apps you need.

Thanks for reply. Yes is working only in SGS.I tried restoring the app alone in TB and restore the data of the specific app in S3, and is still not working. It still close automatically.
Does anyone knows how to restore a backup from one device to another device?
Or maybe I transfer back my number to my SGS, and everything will be same as before?
So I'm upgrading my Samsung Captivate to the SII and was wondering how I can retain all of my apps on the new phone. My captivate is rooted so it's really a question of how I can save the apps and restore them on the new phone as easily as possible. I thought it might be as easy as using Titanium Backup, but I wasn't sure how after I back everything up I'll be able to restore it on the new phone. Thanks for the replies.

Either that or just save the Titanium backup folder from your old phone's storage to pc and then move to the root of internal sd on s2 and restore user apps. Make sure you ONLY RESTORE USER APPS. any system data and you'll get FCs right and left.
Use market apps to backup your msgs and call logs if you want to. Then move the backup files to internal sd of s2 according to where the app stores them, install the same app you backed them up with and restore...
Anything you can sync with google have synced, such as calendars and contacts. Best of luck, mate ))
After rooting s2 backup efs before you start flashing right and left. beware of the superbrick bug and always use safe kernels to wipe data...
Most importantly... have fun and happy updrading and flashing

You have me freaking out with "superbrick bug". Never heard of it. What is efs? Is there any way to backup my apps and restore them on a different phone without a rooted device? I heard there's something called ultimatebackup or something, but couldn't find a link. Finally, what app is there to backup call logs. I use K-9 for my e-mail and its set to IMAP so I won't have any problems there. Was also able to export the mail settings to the PC.

Superbrick bug is emmc cap bug in some ics kernels. Whenever flashing new rom always wipe data on s2 using safe kernels, such ad soyah or dorimanx and you'll be fine. Just beware of it, no need to freak out...
Don't know of non root way to backup your apps... never tried it. Maybe some of the other good folk here can help with that.
Best app for backing ypur msgs and call logs in my opinion is Mobile Backup II.

Being a Captivate user, does that mean you are an AT&T customer, and are upgrading to the Galaxy S2 that AT&T sells? If so, you are in the wrong forum...
Yes, AT&T customer. Which forum should I be in? I didn't see a Skyrocket or other SII on the list. TIA.

Regular SII (SGH-I777): http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1301
Skyrocket (SGH-I727): http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1399
If you go to the overall page that has all devices listed, they are there; just do a find on the page with the model number.
EDIT: Just FYI, the answer to your original question is still valid to use Titanium Backup to back up and restore app data. The reason I mentioned the specific device forums is so you don't go flashing an i9100 firmware, ROM, or kernel to your shiny new I777 or I727, or otherwise use a root method specific to the i9100 on either of those devices. That usually doesn't end well.
Hi there, so basically (as you'll probs see in my sig) I used to have a HTC Desire HD. On that was a brilliant ROM, spent ages on it and it had LOTS of data and apps. One time I backed it up through Clockworkmod and a few days later it bricked. I managed to breath life into it but I couldn't restore that file because I moved it to my PC and so much time had passed that I couldn't find it. Recently I found the backup and saw the apps and app data was still inside (opened using winrar). Is there any way I can move this app data and the apps to my Galaxy Note 2? I had a Titanium backup but it was on my phone memory which got wiped, the SD card was untouched. If there's an incompatibility between HTC and Samsung recovery backups could I use my dad's HTC Wildfire to put the app data on then Titanium backup and move the apps and app data over?
Sorry if it's a long read.
Huzi.
Ok i did the same thing, i have back up files but the phone is stuck on samsung screen.

I made a back up of my smasung phone using smartswitch, the samsung phone stopped working recently and i have got a new android phone which isnt samsung and i cannot seem to connect to smartswitch to restore the backup to the new phone. I have seen software that claim to do it, but they are not free and look like malware. is there a reputable software that i can use to restore the backup i made?
I am comfortable with rooting the phone and stuff, was thinking of changing the build.prop to a samsung phone but not sure if that will work to connect to smartswitch app.
the most important thing is the wifi settings, the file is saved as the .ebk format and searching online shows its a ebook format, which doesnt make sense.
any help will be appreciated
thanks.
