Hey if I wanted to deodex the miui or ics launcher, would they work on my evo 3d?

I don't think deodexing by itself going to make any apps portable. From my understanding some core apps seems to be depending on framework. So, you might need to modify the framework to get your app working probably.
With that in mind, just give it a try as you might be lucky without being troubled with anything.
By the way for the two launchers you mention (aside from MIUI [?]depending on custom framework?) there might an already made package for it. Also, ICS launcher is on Market if my memory serves me right.
Good Luck.

I need a launcher that uses minimal ram, i have a slow phone, but the launcher should work like a normal launcher, not textvonly etc.

On my old 600mhz htc aria, I still used launcher pro. Even on slow devices its pretty quick.

Im suggesting zeam launcher (with desktop visualizer you can make it really nice and icons in dock are small so it looks minimal ) or Ftl launcher (no custom icons in dock yet but very customizeable, you can even set the speed of core android animations )

Tried those, i like seam and lp, but i need even more, i don't care if they take up all my storage, but ram shows be 0-3 mb

Ty for help but used it, it cuts a lot of words and widgets.

Though Zeam is the lightest the newest contender that is very close to zeam but has alot more features is "nemus launcher" which is made by the same folks who make Regina 3d Launcher.
I run it on an ancient tablet I have with 256mb....a script like V6 Supercharger can help to optimize your OOM (out of memory) settings for the memory you have.
Ya it us nice, i started using it, its not minimal on,ram, but no lag at all. Any more?
If u look at ny signature, i uploaded th real stock group launcher that use been using, he very minimal on ram 3.1mb.
Give it a look the and tell me weather of not think its better than others.

How much ram are you working with??
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-4
Around 450 mb that's what my android assistant says. I'm using the LG thrive. Its good for a person who doesn't care about thinking about his device. But for Me, its terrible, i need like 200 bucks for moto atrix 2

FTL Launcher.
Oh ya i just found it, nice but non smooth and way to fast launcher.

What all do you run? Lol my phone uses 112mb of ram at the peak of the use with almost 500mb left I just don't understand what you're system could be using that eats everything up so much... I'd offer a photo of the screenshot but its not letting me put it up the photo is in wrong format xD my bad. But you shouldn't worry about how much a launcher will take up maybe you need a new rom to minimize what it runs. Just saying lol or stop using so much on you're phone. (No rudeness in this at all I promise sorry if it came off like it)

Lol anything that ANYONE suggests you have something bad to say about it... Just pick one and live life already, ffs....
450mb is plenty. You're not going to find the "minimalistic" launcher you think you need. Pretty much every launcher has already been suggested to you. You're not going to find one that only uses a couple of mb of ram. I don't know why you would need a
My suggestion would be to try to find yourself a good task killer.
edit: Im pretty sure this user is just spamming to get users to check out his thread thats linked in his signature. There's already one complaint from another user saying that singular9 is spamming other threads just to get people to go to his thread where he posted the froyo launcher. The fact that singular9 said they haven't edited it, and just found it on some filesharing site makes me leery to even try it out.

Man just root your phone and install ram manager by juwe and you wont care about ram anymore ;-)

See my lengthy edit above. I would love to see someone check out the launcher that he posted and is trying to get people to check out.

I was thinking of rooting ny phone, will the warranty be void if i do? I got thus phone at radioshack and swapped my sim from another phone.
I wounder what radioshacks return policy is and if they have a wwarranty.
But ill keep that in mind, "ram manager" what dies it do?
Also, 450mg is not enough when att has put a bunch of gay apps that take up around 100mb of storage and they randomly come on in the background, the task killers i have don't kill them so i have to go force stop them.
Also I'm not spamming, i found forums who were looking for stud like that so i suggested.
Edit
Actually mist my friends who have androids, told me the launcher worked great, relied galaxy s, etc.

I guess ill stick sighs nemus, its not minimal but its smooth fast and no lag.
What do u gys think bout nemus?

Hey guys, I was wondering if someone would be so kind as to pull the stock google search apk from the X2 for me.
(No updates - after SBF, before market updates)
Thanks in advance!

For Gingerbread? I'm on ICS so I dont know if that one would be the same. But can't you take a Gingerbread ROM and extract the files and take the google search apk from that?
Yeah, GB version. I could. Just don't have my X2 anymore so I deleted my files for it. All the ROMs and everything.
I'm at work though and can't use a computer yet

Would the Eclipse one work? I can download it and extract the apk for you.
How about the "quicksearchbox" from CM7?
Here is the one from Liberty. May be more stockish.
Thanks, but those didn't work. I want it because the updated google search app does not change when the ICS go launcher theme is applied. Instead of the clear bar it displays the all white box which totally messes my phones look up. I ran into the same issue on the x2 but fixed it under settings, apps, manage apps, google search, uninstall updates. This phone is newer so its stock app is already updated. I think I need the stock x2 app from a sbf or something.
I emailed the dev about it when I had my x2 but no change yet

Ah. Sorry those didnt work. I understand the whole "gotta have my phone look good" thing. I have OCD when it comes to that. lol

I just got my DNA and when installing my apps I get incompatible warnings when installing a bunch of paid games. Like need for speed most wanted. Anyone else get this and how do we fix it.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I get this all the time, and it is usually due to the rather unique DPI we see spring in these phones. The easiest fix for me is to use LCD Density Pro to download and install a modded version of the play store to spoof a more common DPI. It requires root, and I have to readily often, but it is reliable.
Thanks for the response. I was hoping to TRY and leave my phone stock but I might just need to root it.

Hey skinzy98, real quick, just wanted to let you know that your work in the development sub-forum is greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work!
Now to answer your question. If you're planning to inject an app into a ROM, then you can accomplish this by placing the .apk into the system/app directory inside your ROMNAME.zip, and that's it (assuming the ROM sets recursive permissions to the entire system/app directory). This would result in your injected app being installed as a system app. However, if you want it to be installed as a data app... Well, it's gonna' be a little more involved. For what you plan to do, installing it as a system app would probably be best anyhow. Good luck, and let me know if you need any help/have any questions. Always glad to help a bro out when I can.

You are going about it the right way, but beware some apps from different sources may in other files or framework.
Just fyi if you run into unexpected issues.

I've been trying to push some AOSP style apps to system/app but I keep getting force closes on them.
Examples include calculator.apk and mms.ask. Any idea why these apps won't work?

The S4 is a TouchWiz phone, not AOSP. The AOSP framework isn't there, so many AOSP apps won't work. That's probably true for most of them, actually.
What you're doing is kind of close to taking an iPad application and trying to flash it, then asking why it doesn't work.

Also, Samsung apps are in system/priv-app, not system/app. Some may work, some may not. Generally fixing permissions and ensuring file name matches should help.
I tried that too. Oh well. Guess I'll just settle with freezing stock apps and installing AOSP versions the regular way. Thanks for the help.

I've found a few apks that have been repackaged that I can simply install. Just trying to create the illusion of AOSP.
