Hey Guys
I am currently using the Samsung Galaxy S2 in India
Current Version
Firmware : 2.3.5
baseband xxki1
kernel xxki3
build batista70 2.1 xxki3
In this config, i am unable to use any kernel apart from the CF root and the speedmod
Is it possible for me to use a different modem and baseband altogether. Or will that not be possible for the Indian version of the SGS2.
Will changing that lead to no connections or some other issues?
Kindly help or advice as to how to use other kernels if the above is not an option
Bump. Please Help Guys.
Please Help Me. I am feeling restless for a custom kernel.

If your GS2 is the global version (I9100) then yes, you can flash any I9100 modem or kernel you like. There shouldn't be any connection issues.

Hi guys & gals,
I've *just* taken delivery of a new Samsung Galaxy SII running
Android 2.3.3
Baseband I9100XXKDJ
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKDJ-CL187606 [email protected]#2
Gingerbread XWKE2 build
I've successfully flashed the kernel of my previous SGS1 to root it using CF-Root via Odin.
I believe I'm looking for a KDJ version of the CF-Root, but can't find one.
Any help / pointers would be much appreciated as unrooted, the phone's just no fun! And I can't use my Titanium backup.
Thank you
Dave
No need to find KDJ or specific. Just find your PDA version and flash that kernel.
I hope you know how to see PDA version,

You may want to update to a newer rom, look in this thread, then select a correct version of CF root.

Hey all,
Just got the Galaxy S2 Internationl GT-I9100 and I'm using it on ATT in the United States (it is NOT the ATT version).
The info:
Android Version 2.3.3
Baseband Version I9100XXKE7
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF3-CL276555, [email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWKF3
So I have a couple questions:
1) Will CF-Root v4.0 for KF3 work on this phone? Is there a later version of CF-Root for KF3?
2) Does it matter that baseband is KE7 and kernel is KF3?
3) Does the S2 brick easily? Soft brick that can be reversed by flashing stock with odin (like on my captivate) or hard brick?
4) My plan is to install CF-Root, then backup /efs, and then flash cognition. After backing up /efs, can I just flash cognition using Odin or do I need to use CWM?
5) I noticed that cognition uses the Ninphetamine kernel...will that be compatible with my phone? Will most custom ROMs be compatible with my phone?
Thanks for the help guys! Now that I have an S2, I can use my captivate to muck around with the android source =D
May not be relevant but
How about trying to update to 2.3.4 stock ROM before going root. Personally I don't feel much need of rooting after switching from galaxy 1 to 2. Fast enough.

I've always been a bigger fan of community developed software than stock ROM. Also, I want titanium backup and few other things even if i just stay on stock rooted
Is any one using Galaxy two with Virgin/Optus Australia? Please suggest a good Modem for good reception and 3G coz I am having trouble with my current modem and also tried various different one like KI3,KI4,KI1,KH3,etc.. But I get same results.... Please help with your Modem version if you are on Virgin or Optus Australia.
Thanks
Rom: Wanam v4.4, Siyah Kernal OC 1.4Ghz, Modem XXKI3
Found a link: Just download this modem and flash via Odin and it fixes the problem.

You also keep using I9000 and I9100 interchangeably, what phone do you actually have? If you have an I9100 (not I9000 or I9100G) then you can find everything you need about flashing an ICS ROM in the stickies, specifically http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487

is your phone rooted?
Hi guys, i want a firmware or custom rom for galaxy gt-i9100t, if there is any rom after 4.1.2 ! , also i have a question: the normal rom for g-ti9100 could be installed on gt-i9100t !!?
There isn't any stock firmware >4.1.2. Yes, you can flash I9100 stock roms on the I9100T, but you may have to use a modem from an I9100T rom if you're using the phone on a network belonging to a carrier who sold the I9100T.
okay 10x for help, i'm so greatfull
What about a i9100 custom rom?! Can i use it to i9100t !?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Yes, of course. the I9100 & I9100T (I also have an I9100T) are exactly the same except for a very slight difference in radio output, achieved by firmware - the modem.
If you flash an I9100 stock rom, it will include an I9100 modem which might (not always though) mess with your connectivity, and as I hinted at in my PP, in my experience, using modems which have been bundled with stock roms released by carriers which sold the I9100T tends to result in the best connectivity. You can check these by searching the I9100T firmwares on Samfirmware, which lists the baseband (modem), and you can then find/download whatever modem in question here.
However, if after flashing an I9100 stock rom your connectivity is OK, no need to change the modem. Only change the modem if your connectivity isn't great. Custom roms don't include modems, so flashing a custom rom won't change your current modem.
i got it, thank you very much for your help and your notes about the modem thing :good: .
