Hey all,
I was just curious to know if it's possible to flash a new modem file just by itself like many people do with Samsung and HTC phones?
Just asking as I am one of many who experience the UP arrow of H+ data getting 'stuck' and then being forced to reboot to get data working again.. Flashing a new modem file is apparently how the Galaxy S II folk manage to circumvent this issue.
Thanks in advance and as always thank you so much devs for your hard work and tireless nights!

Yes. They are stickied in the dev folder I think. You need to fastboot flash them though.

Great question to ask, and I too have done this a lot on my SGS. I've been wondering myself what the proceedure was for the Atrix...

They're called radios. Look on the fruitcake post, there are some CWM flashable ones on there.

I am requesting some heavy help.
My current situation is that I have a friends Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-PR7500R 4G from Rogers. It is my understanding that I messed up in trying to root it as a 4G device when it is a HSPA+/3G device.
Please understand that I am a helpless beginner to the Android platform as a whole.
Thanks for the help in advanced!
The guide that I followed is the "root-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-3g4g" from technoflames.
It appears that I cannot post links, because I am a new member.
I had 'successfully' flashed kernel.zip and recovery.zip and am now stuck in a BootLoop.
In an attempt to fix the problem. I managed to Odin flash CWM on to the device. The current issue is that I have no access to USB mass storage to continue what most guides suggest.
I have scoured the forums in hope of finding some answers, but a method to access the USB mass storage has eluded me.
My goals for this thread are:
1. Get USB mass storage access
then
A. Root this devices successfully
or
B. Restore to stock firmware
Wipe data/cache in recovery mode, flash ROM via Odin, flash proper root.

How can it be a 4G named device but really be a 3G device? False advertising?
Excuse my ignorance of 3G and 4G. I've never had experience with them so can't help, but I would have probably done what you did because of what the name inferred. Wouldn't blame myself in the least.
Sorry your having issues, but someone should be by soon to help you.

Sorry, When you say ROM, which ROM do you mean?
I do not have a back up of the original firmware for the device.
In the best of worlds, HSPA+ should have stayed labeled as 3G.
And LTE/WIMAX should be 4G.
The probleme is: Sprint came up with its 4G WIMAX network and devices like 2 years ago.
Not being able to keep up on the network side, the others .. filled the gap -marketingly speaking - by renaming their HSPA+ networks as 4G; pretexting the "up to 21 mbps" speed was already 3-4 times superior to the original 3G speeds of 7mbps.
Now T-Mobile still advertises a 4G network, but they still have no LTE nor WIMAX at all.
**** Here's Rogers latest 3.2 ROM , for your convinience... **** pass= sampro.pl
does the link given provide the default kernal as well? from what ive read in other posts, this is the same file as provided in an eariler thread, and when used, did not allow the user to upgrade via kies. My concern is if samsung releases ICS i will not be able to update, even if i loaded this rom via odin. pls correct me if im wrong i'm still learning the ropes...

Can you still get it to fastboot mode? If you can, Just flash another firmware to save it from bootloop, seems you broke the recovery.

Hi all.
I just finished picking up my sgs2lte. Really excited about it. Would like start by rooting it and install another rom.
My specs are:
SGH- I727R
Android 2.3.5
Baseband I727RUXKJ7
Kernel 2.6.35.11
Build GB.RUXKJ7
I am hoping someone can assist me with this.
Will I be able to install rom's through cwm once rooted?
What is the best baseband for rogers?
What is the biggest sdcard that I can buy for it?
I do know that there are several how to's on how to do this rooting, but I just want to make sure I do the right way and use the right files. Just double checking never used Odin before either, will be my first time
Thanks all,
Heeter

You're currently in the i9100 forums. You should go to the i727 forums. They are different phones.

Yes there is a way, just in case you don't have it here we go . If you don't have clockwork mod recovery installed use your phone to download the cwr update.zip in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 .Scroll down and look for directions on how to install cwr. Use a file manager app called " Astro " to put the file on your internal sd. Once you have recovery mode installed you can simply use your phone to download a custom 2.2 ROM and flash it through recovery mode (there will be directions on how to flash this in the thread) , just be sure to READ everything before flashing. This is probably the most popular 2.2 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441976 , you can search for others if you wish. This will pretty much void your warranty so if that's a problem then your probably stuck with 2.1 until you get your usb port fixed. Here is the closest Stock 2.2 ROM you will find if that's what your looking for http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674519

You can also try ROM Manager and install the recovery from there. Good luck!

yes... you can get an update.zip from http://dl.dropbox.com/u/59531727/Clockwork Recovery/Update.zip taken from Woodrube's Signature.
FYI DONT use KIES. It may Hard Brick your device. Place this update.zip in the root of internal SD (NOT inside a folder). You will have to do reinstall packages twice to get it to CWM maybe.
There are many good 2.2 ROMs like Moped's Ryders ROM and Fishman's.

Fishman's Bionix ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441976

I can't help but to notice that your signature says MB855. Since you are using a Photon, are you doing this modding for a friend's phone? If so and that person is not the "technical" sort, I suggest you leave them on 2.2 for now.
ICS ROMs are well beyond what you would think since we have no official ROM from Samsung for our devices, however they are not without dangers and pitfalls. There is a bug that is hitting Vibrants, Captivates, I-9000's, a few Asus Transformers (tf101)-in fact someone got hit with it yesterday. It is called the Encryption UnSuccessful bug and it will render the Internal_sd useless and you will have to hack your External_sd to run ANY ROM. Other than that and the fact that the Vibrant has crappy GPS (sans hardware fix), ICS ROMs are spectacular, especially since very few phones are running ICS at all, let alone 4.0.4.
I suggest you read about the EU bug but my pick for the best daily driver ICS ROM is by far ICZen with SubZero kernel. You can find it here but check out the dev section too.

Hi all
I apologize for my bad English. I own a Sprint Photon, of course, and I live outside the U.S.. I bought the Photon from ebay and who sold it has installed Electrify rom that you see in the screen attached. I would like to try other roms, but I'm totally noob with Android, it's my first Android, so I want to know how not to brick my phone. When the Photon starts, there is written at the top, unlocked.
There is the CWM backup and a recovery 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.5-4.5.1A_SUN_USC_19.0-19-release-keys-signed-USC-US.zip
Can anyone help me or give me a link?
Thanks in advance
Darkane
PS: I have also installed a version of Ubuntu webtop, I would like to remove it since I do not use

None can help me? :crying:
With your phone unlocked, you should have no trouble installing the roms posted in the development sub forum. Essentially all you should have to do is place the zip of the rom in a folder on your site card and flash through CWM. However each rom has specific instructions, so read and reread carefully.
Each person has their own tase for roms and no one is going to tell you that there is one best rom, I'm using CM7 right now, after having CM10 installed for a while.
Sent from my MB855 using xda app-developers app
That actually looks like stock Android for the electrify. Are you sure you are running a custom rom? Are you sure you got a photon? Some people list items wrongly in ebay so you should check those two things before going flashing anything
Sent from my MB855 using xda app-developers app
That screenshot reeks of a US Cellular SBF that has been floating around but if it says unlocked you might be okay.
Install the CWM, do a nandroid then grab a known-working non-stock ROM from the dev forum. See what happens. As long as it stays unlocked you can fix it.
Hey guys,
I just got this device and I'm loving it so far... I'm a T-Mobile customer, so I'm looking to flash a tmobile radio and Rom. The thing is I bought this from someone who used a toolkit to root it and unlock the bootloader. It's also running insert coin Rom and twrp.. I know nothing else is done besides that. This is my first non Samsung device, and Im used to the simplicity of Odin , I really dont want to screw anything up... Anyone have some advice? Thanks in advance...

I am probably not certified to answer this question. But my suggestion is-
You are searching here ( your best bet) so maybe search youtube for how to video's on "un"rooting and going back to stock. They normally have links to downloads that you need.
what is wrong with just leaving it unlocked and rooted, just flashing a different rom?

This will get you back to near stock T-mo >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281943
your best off to stay away from a radio update unless your having a problem.
Leave the recovery as is for now till you learn more about your phone
make a backup from TWRP and store it in a safe place (other than on the phone) before you go flashing roms (just a good practice anytime)
all the popular roms in the international section will work on your phone, Android Revolution HD, TrickDroid, insertcoin ...etc, just take your time and read a lot
Thanks for the suggestions guys... So even though I'm s-on, I can still flash a different Rom?
