That sounds amazing. However i won't switch because I just got my brand new ATT S2 at $49.99 at Bestbuy. So I won't spend $200 extra for the LTE version

I have to much sad
November 8th is my 30 day mark with the GS2. I would like the LTE version. I wonder if they will let me exchange for it.

im pretty pissed about this too. going to ATT later today to talk to someone.

Taking this back Nov 3 even tho no LTE here yet just so much faster when it arrives in NJ. speeeeeedddddd XD

At least everyone is within their 30 day window. If they announced this a few days from now we'd have much more of a reason to be upset.
I'm curious about battery usage and things like that, ie how this will actually perform in comparison to what we have. I don't think we'll be able to figure that out until the 30 day period has lapsed for the early purchasers though...

Touche, but they may force you off of unlimited data plans to upgrade to LTE plans. I have no basis for that assumption, but wouldn't surprise me at all.
EDIT: never mind, data plans stay the same.

so what's the best way to get our SGSIIs back to stock so that we can exchange them for the SkyRocket (hate the name).

yep, def waiting for a real spec sheet. i need to know depth of the device, battery size and processor type. currently rocking an international SGS2 and looking to either pick up the GNex or this.

I told the guy to do a Walmart Price match 149.99 just to save 50 bucks. However, the sale guys kept taking on the phone (with his girlfriend may be ) and only punched in 49.99 + 30 tax = $80. I kept my mouth shut just to save $100

4.65" screen. that is too big for my hands lol. i think i will stick with my normal att sgsII. though it is good that most of you can return yours if you want the skyrocket. though having lte would be nice.

Has anyone tried to exchange different phone within 30 days? Does ATT charge restocking fee or any fee at all?
Just trying to see if the LTE is worth it (already available in Houston). agreed that we also need to know the full spec, since the screen will be larger as well correct?

Safe to say these are the specs.

Too bad in my state the galaxy S2 was only available in third party stores. I only have a 14-day window at Best Buy.
I'm not in a LTE market, though. A better phone will probably be released by the time I see LTE.

Nope, if you read the article, ther are no LTE plans currently, and you'll be forced into the same plans that there are now, which means you can keep unlimited data WITH LTE as long as you talk to them to make sure they keep it on your plan.
I, personally, have been waiting for this, and will buy it on release day.

[Q] Wal-Mart Return (Vibrant for Nexus S)

I just purchased my Samsung Vibrant from Wal-Mart 2 weeks ago, so I am still under my 30 return policy. I paid $150 for the phone, under the FlexPay program with T-Mobile.
Can I return the phone and get the Nexus S instead? If so, does anyone know the process?
Also, I don't think Wal-Mart carries the Nexus S yet, so could I return the Vibrant to Wal-Mart, then go to T-Mobile to get a Nexus S?
Thanks
I believe only best buy carries the nexus s right now.
No. Only Best Buy sells the S.
Sent from my SGH-T959
Actually you would need to go to bestbuy, double check on your area which one deals with tmobile since not all of them do am afraid you may need to cancel flex acc. At walmart then open a new one at bestbuy it will be a long day but it all depends on rhe reps.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
yup you will have to go to walmart and close out your account, and return the phone and I think the return period is only 14 days, unless you live in california and few other states, but in south carolina it is only 14 day return period for tmobile, this includes flex as well.
I would just keep the Vibrant, The nexus S isn't really that great, its just basicly another Vibrant, just be patient we will have gingerbread on the vibrant very soon in another 5 years from now.
Also current vibrant owners will have a hard time adjusting to the nexus s since the 4 buttons on the bottom are mapped diferently for some strange reason.
Even if you're going to keep the vibrant, go back to wallyworld now and get a credit. The price is now 48.88 in store.
Save $150 and get it free...

Are you new to the world or something? Anyone with half a brain knew this would happen like it happens with ever phone.
it was worth it to not be locked down into the contract, and contract prices
IMO
Id rather have the Nexus S at this point. Since its the google "flagship" phone and is not connected to any carrier imparticular it will always have the most updated firmware. I hate this back and forth to get froyo released for the Vibrant when the Nexus S is already on Gingerbread.
PS. I can live without the external SD card. I don't really use it anyways.

YES, take it back now! T-Mo's CES announcement is tomorrow and im sure we're going to see new Samsung 4G hotness w/4.5 inch screens, and new HTC powerhouses. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't touch a Touchwiz phone with a 10 foot pole. Samsung's firware updates (or lack of them) suck. Just my .02 cents. If you need a phone, I would get something cheap until the new 4G dual core, FFC phones ship.
**edit** Nexus S is already outdated.
where on walmart can you get the vibrant for 150 on flexpay?

[Q] Not available til JUNE with Orange!!

I just spoke to Orange upgrades, and after being fobbed off all week they were finally able to tell me that the Galaxy S2 won't be available with them til start of June, as they do extra testing on the devices that other companies don't!
I now have a bit of a dilemma as I would rather stay with Orange directly as they should be able to offer me a good contract to stay with them, but I could go to Phones 4 u or even switch to O2 and get the phone now!
Anyone else in this situation, or have any advice?!
You can get it on orange via phones4u - even as an upgrade.
Sent from my Galaxy S II using XDA App
Well that's ridiculous, by "extra testing" they probably mean "figure out how to slow the device to an absolute crawl with bloatware that no one wants"
I was told that too. I ended up cancelling my contract and taking a new one out with Phones4u whose phones are unlocked and free from bloatware.
Got a better deal than Orange could offer me too.

£29.99 on't net
£149.99 in store
You decide which one you want
I second this, it's exactly what I did. The phone is great but what amazes me more is the amount of time my battery lasts on my HTC Hero now it's been left alone in the shadows of my GS2. It's on its 4th day without charge!

Tmobile gives me the second best signal at home and work, the first best being 3. The only thing is, if you buy tmobile via a 3rd party then your data speeds are throttled at 350kbps and you have to pay an extra £5/month to get their full 1.8mbps(i believe 1.8mb is their max). So im waiting till tmobile stock the SGS2 to see what deal theyll give me... a load of crap i bet. Tmobile are crap when it comes to giving the customer a good deal! Good network but bad deals
I wish they spent all that extra time trying to improve their reception.
Phones4u is your best bet mate, though last I heard they were out of stock for online orders.

my t-mobile contract is through e2save and i can tell u now it isnt throttled.
T-mobile and Orange can share networks, so if your t-mobile, you can use the orange network to get better signal and it works the other way too, im orange and with this im very very rarely without signal
The signal sharing is only on 2g. Data connections are still separate.
I would have moved to Orange if data was shared too, it would have been perfect.
Edit: I know the discussion was mainly on call reception, but I thought it worth mentioning that it's not a fully-shared deal. Hopefully that will change.

Would I be crazy to give up unlimited data (vzw) for this phone?

My contract with Verizon ended yesterday so now I'm month to month on my unlimited data plan for my wife and I. I'm really having a hard time deciding what my next phone will be. We're both still rocking the OG Droid, and while Verizon has its holy trinity of new phones out now, each one of them has things about it that turn me off, so I've been having a hard time picking which one to go with.
Meanwhile, Amazon has its penny pincher sale going on and I'm really tempted to just get a Galaxy S2. It's not a perfect phone either, but it has more of the total package for me than any other phone right now and to get 2 of them basically for free is hard to pass up. I keep playing with it at Best Buy and going back to the ridiculously gorgeous screen and insane performance. I'd also be able to save a little money monthly as I could get a plan with fewer minutes on AT&T due to the unlimited mobile to any mobile package they have.
With that said it'd tough to justify leaving Verizon. Their service has been incredibly reliable for me over the last two years, and unlimited data is tough to give up. Looking at my usage over the last few months it looks like I don't ever use much more than a gig of data on either line, but part of that is b/c my Droid sucks for any kind of multimedia and VZW's 3G is pretty slow. I think I could manage with the 2 gigs on each line, but I hate to give up unlimited on general principle. I'm also worried that AT&T's coverage won't be as reliable as VZW's, although I do like that their 3G speeds are much better so it wouldn't be the all or nothing type performance that VZW's cdma/LTE combo gives.
Has anyone else made this kind of switch, and does anyone think it's a good move or should I just stick with VZW?
For what it's worth I live in the Denver area so if there's anyone on here in that area I'd love to hear your thoughts on AT&T's coverage.

Well I believe Amazon's 1 cent sale only runs through Monday, so if I was going to pull the trigger on a switch I'd like to do it while I can get the GS2 basically for free.
As for the Nexus, I'm sure the user experience is going to be amazing on it and the screen is probably killer as well, but lack of an SD slot and kind of an average camera for such a high end phone has kind of turned me off to it. Eventually I'll get ICS on whatever phone I get, but I won't be able to improve the hardware of whatever phone I get.
The phone that I like best of the big 3 on Verizon is the Rezound actually. The screen is very nice and it has all the features I want. I expect it to be a beast when it gets rooted. With that said, the GS2 is just such a smooth phone.
I was thinking the opposite ..would it be stupid to leave at&t on unlimited w/ gs2 still within 30 days return and head to Verizon. :/

The iPhone 2 trick still gives any at&t user unlimited data for $30 a month.
I completely understand what you mean about the selection at Verizon though. Their phones are just not competative.
I have a few friends that were really looking forward to getting the sgsii when if came to Verizon. They were all mad when it came out that Verizon turned down the offer of getting the sgsii. Sure the nexus will be going there first, but it's not mind blowing. Really thought google would've went above and beyond with 'their' phone.
I've really been loving this phone. I waited 1 1/2 years to get this phone. Not this particular phone, but one that had all the high points. Fast dual core, 1gb ram, great screen, nfc, solid dev support. While I'm sad it didn't come with an FM radio, I really couldn't ask for anything more out of this phone.
In my opinion, if you don't go for this phone, wait for the quad cores. They'll be coming somewhat soon. I can't see any reason to go with another phone (with the exception of the Samsung note, but I know I'd use that screen size for my work).

By putting your sim card into an Iphone 2 it force upgrades your plan to unlimited. Part of how that phone was designed. There's a few more steps than that but the rest can be found by searching google, and if the other thread was deleted I don't want to be the cause of this thread getting removed.

Was also going to mention the iPhone trick. The SGS 2 is a really nice phone. I had the I9100. Two of my friends have the ATT version and they are identical except the domestic version doesn't have the physical home button. There is even a hack to get I9100 rome on the ATT version now.
If you can get that phone for a penny it is definitely a good deal. Head over to the xda marketplace and see if there is an OG iPhone available. Several of the regulars have them.
The best thing about ATT is that you can swap phones at anytime...if you're a phone whore like me that's a big deal
Good luck bro!

I would for sure reccomend this phone. I came from a dumbphone to this, so anything was better, but everything you talked about liking is exactly why this phone rocks. I would see how att's coverage is in your area. Every place is different. Here it's about the same as Verizon but i know plenty of places where it is not. Verizon's 3g is God awful, but their lte is so bad ass. Unlimited data is not an issue as others have mentioned. Good luck

This phone is the best. I went to this phone from a Verizon galaxy s. I still have my Verizon account though. And am going back as soon as galaxy nexus comes out. And I think galaxy s2 may just be better. But......att is not as good as Verizon. Their data speed tests about twice as fast Verizon but ping is twice as slow. So in actuality they are pretty close in speed. That is until Lte. And 3g here drops off once you leave main cities. On Verizon 3g is everywhere. I really miss Verizon and can't wait til galaxy nexus comes out. I just ordered a rezound for my girlfriend so I'm gonna use that til gnex and let her use the sgs2. And I really love this phone. It perfect. But not worth att. Also since switching I have noticed call quality go down and more dropped calls. Not that anyone really uses the phone anymore. My mom got a thunderbolt and Lte is nice. Quick tests I got 100 ping and 9 down and 6 up. So yeah. Stay with Verizon. They really are better. Even if att has the best phone. And I'm really disappointed with the gnex. Camera seems to be a flop and I think anything bigger than the sgs2 is too big. There are many times I have to stretch my fingers to the top. Not bad but this is the limit. This is all from a heavy user.

Depends on your area I guess. Does Verizon have more of a reliable coverage area for you, or does AT&T?
Also, how much data do you and your wife consume? If not a whole lot, 2GB may be fine for you until you do the iphone trick. If you do use a lot of data, then having unlimited already with Verizon might be a dealbreaker for you.
Remember, new phones are always coming out. Just because Verizon dosent have any phones that you REALLY like right now dosent mean that they wont have any next month or after the first of the year.
Iphone 2g tricks is the way to go with att. Did it myself and hooked up my friends do. Still works ;-)

200 is an excellent deal if its in the condition they say it is and has the beats headphones. It's still a good deal without the headphones.
make sure you verify the esn before purchase.
Its easy to get early upgrades from Verizon if you call them. It has become pretty difficult in store as of late as they all seem to have the same script. Just tell them your current phone is driving you bat **** and you cant take it anymore. Also mention you've tried to wait it out. They will ask you what phone you want, and then they will send you the phone overnight for whatever 2yr price is currently listed on the VZ website. Your upgrade will vanish and your upgrade cycle will restart.
You could always buy the Rezound off contract now and get whatever phone is at the top of the pile in august.
I picked up a GNEX on CL for 275.00 even though I have an upgrade available. It replaced my sons DX2. I'm saving the upgrade for the next great VZ phone, which will save me from a 600-800 dollar off contract price on release day(impulse buyer).
I currently have 5 lines and I try to keep one upgrade available at all times just in case.

make sure you verify the esn before purchase.

Agree with everything this dewd said. Same philosophies with 5 lines too.

I've gotten upgrades 1 year + early. Just depends on who you talk to and what you say. Also factors such as tenure, payment history , ARPU (how much $$ you are worth to VZW) etc etc.
oh wow that could mean I could get the rez for 50 bucks now. I really don't see too may phones popping up other than the one v but even then we've hit a point in hardware where only battery tech may improve over the next year. 1.5ghz dual core and plenty of ram will run sense4.0 easy along with any 3.5 rom.
I've only been with vzw for a year and a half now with a family plan of 3 lines but my phone is my main line of work communication calls emails etc.

They're pushing out Quadcore SoC's already this year. It's nice but totally unecessary, at this point hardware is overpowered. At this point in game it's all about software optimizations. But manufacterer's need to make them cash dollars $$$. Just try calling Verizon when they open up tomorrow and see if you can get your upgrade pushed.

Call Verizon, I believe they will credit you if it's been within a certain period you bought the phone.

Other device, comparisons to other devices, and upgrading phone discussion

Please use this thread to discuss devices other than and any comparisons with other devices on or about the Note III in this thread and any other off-topic issues that are not needing a new thread.
Post with respect, this is a helpful community, hope we all learn from this stuff in here.
Was the only customer in my local Sprint store this morning. They took over an hour because they were having problems with the new Note 3 and new One Up program. Got it back at home though now. Absolutely LOVE it!!!!!
Good luck to everyone getting it this morning! If you're also using the One Up program then be prepared to wait. They said no one else had been able to do it yet. I was thrilled that they were for me. I was willing to wait all day if I had to though! Lol

My experience was not that bad considering I did a number swap with my girlfriend. Essentially she got my S3and I took her EVO 3D to do the One up. I did the number swap Friday the 4th so I actually couldn't do the One up til the next day. Went in at 9 was out of the store before 9:15. Compared to my S3 the N3 is a beast all its own and I love it.

Note 3 versus Galaxy Mega
Hi, I'm thorn between the Note 3 and the Mega. I know the Note 3 has a faster processor, more memory, ram and better screen resolution. currently I have the Note 2. I need the biggest screen I can get. don't use the Spen too much so no need of it. Anyone have tested the Mega?
A heads-up that Amazon just got the black model in stock -- I got an email saying that my earlier order has shipped, and it shows 2 more in stock currently. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-Black-Sprint/dp/B00FJ8WBJG/ref=pd_sim_sbs_cps_1
Price is $299.99 for an upgrade, and they don't charge tax to most states (including IL), plus my Chase Freedom card is offering 5% cashback from Amazon purchases this quarter... so my bottom line is $285... pretty good, I'd say.
--
Well shoot, I see that the upgrade price is now $249.99! I'm chatting with customer service now to see if I can get a credit.

My order has been changed to reflect the new price! FYI, amazon's price match policy on cell phone purchases - http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=201077510

At the link I pasted. Choose individual or family account, and the option "I have a Sprint account and want to upgrade my current device to this one" gives a $249.99 price either way. Are you seeing something different?

I would like to know as well. It would be nice to get some of my money back.
Just a heads up to anyone considering moving from the HTC One to this phone should do it. I loved the speakers on the One but the battery life, screen size, and expandable storage are completely worth the switch. I'm really loving this phone and I use the stylus and S-Notes way more than I ever thought I would.

I just ordered it through Amazon online. I chose a random plan and called Sprint to activate it and keep my same plan before turning it on. Worked like a champ on this phone and my previous phone two years ago.

Ok... I was eligible for an upgrade so I went to Amazon and picked the Note 3 for Sprint. Sero obviously isn't a plan Amazon offers, so I chose one of the plans they do offer and ordered the phone. The phone showed up the next day. Before turning it on, I called Sprint and said I bought a new phone and want to activate it, but stay on the same plan. They said no problem and activated it. Done.
Two years ago when I was eligible for an upgrade that was the method Amazon told me to use if I wanted a plan they didn't offer. Just in case it didn't work, I didn't turn on the phone until I had confirmation from Sprint it would work.

Note 3 vs HTC One Max?
I picked up my Note 3 on 10/5 and have 14 days to return. I'm thinking about checking out the HTC One Max but the non-removable battery may be a deal breaker for me.
Note 3:
My Cons:
Call quality is so bad
I rarely use the SPen (only to show off) so it's useless
hardware power button moves around alot (super minor)
WatchON and My Magazines sometimes pops up with it not responding (I don't use them)
My Pros:
Screensize/resolution is AMAZING (I came from an S2 Lol)
Battery life: WOW. I stream Pandora all day, utube, txt/emails, and I can still get about 24 hr usage with my HEAVY use.
SD Card slot
Removable battery: Awesome for traveling
Charging: WOW. charges from 0-100 in about 2 hours and 30m
HTC One Max(rumored specs) :
My Cons:
Battery: Non-removable battery???? May be a deal breaker for me.
Size: It was looking to be 5.9 view-able but now they think it will be the same 5.7 as our note 3? The phys size looks like it might be half an inch or so bigger then the Note 3. Will be disappointed if the view-able screen is 5.7 instead of 5.9.
My Pros:
If screen-size will be 5.9, this will put me one step closer on making me want to switch.
Similar battery life as the note 3
SPEAKERS!!! I'm a media person, and stereo/front speakers might push me over the top to switch.
Just minor things that I've though about. Please let me know of your thoughts!
10/18 will be the last day I will be able to undo my note 3 purchase with no penalties (besides the $35 restocking fee). I think the HTC One Max will come out on 10/15 as rumored so I'll be trying it in store to get a better feel of which phone suits me best.

Once he physically got the phone, he called and just activated the phone on his current plan, which is a SERO.
WTF is a sero
