[Q] Portable galaxy s2 driver - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I do not have admin rights at work to install kies or new pc studio to allow me to connect my work PC with my galaxy s2. Can someone provide portable software for Win XP SP3. Thanks

A portable driver isn't technically possible. However, if you go to Settings --> Applications --> Development --> USB debugging (select), it's quite likely the phone will connect and be accessible without the need for admin rights on the machine.

Thanks, debugging works for me

[Q] how to get a windows driver for vodafone 845?

is it possible to get a FREE (i emphasise COMPLETELY FREE) windows driver for a vodafone 845? could you please send me the link and the instructions on how to install it? also, is it possible to get froyo or gingerbread or a sense ui on the same phone? (please dont say mr edition. the last time i tried that, my phone stpped working).
thanks for ur co-op!!
If you use the original rom or TCT_RLS3 rom, when you connect the phone with computer by usb cable, the computer will firstly identify the phone as a usb disk, the drivers are there.
i also got a problem with that i made a mistake on recovery clockworkmod and i mount the phone via usb but i see on pc's folder removable disk and i cant access to it
ps:i got win 7 does it help?

[Q] Simple, basic PC sync

Can anyone please recommend a simple, reliable prog to sync the streak to PC? I want it for one reason, to root the phone. I need no other functionality and after rooting I may well not use it again. I did try the ghastly Dell/Nero software a while ago but found it huge and awful and didn't get on with it one bit!
Cheers.

You do not need a "sync" programme to connect your Streak to your PC in order to root it. Syncing normally means keeping your contacts/calendar/tasks/notes/categories the same on both your PC and your Android device.
If you just connect your Streak to your PC, using the PDMI to USB cable that came with your Streak, it should give you an option to "Turn on USB storage". If you choose this, your PC should see the Streak as a connected device and you will be able to run SuperOneClick (or whatever) to get root.
You do not want to select "turn on usb storage'. In fact you need to make sure that this is off.
Most Streak users can root with SuperOneClick. If you are using a Windows computer and are still on Android 1.6 you can get the drivers installed by installing Dell PC Suite and if you are already on Android 2.2 you want these drivers. Drivers are also included in the QDLTool download from Streakdroid.
The correct drivers may install automatically when you plug your Streak in, If you are using a64 bit version of Windows see this tutorial for installing drivers.
There are numerous threads about using SuperOneClick with the Streak and a link to some tips in my signature.
Your misconception about needing a sync program to root is possibly because some users install the sync programs to make sure the correct drivers are installed.

[Q] Can't access Galaxy Tab 10.1 as USB drive

Hi,
I have a new galaxy tab 10.1 and a computer with windows XP. I've installed the USB driver from the samsung website, but when i connect the tablet to the computer, the only thing that comes up is a little window saying "MTP Media Player" and i can either "Transfer files using windows media player" or "take no action". How do i access the tablet in windows explorer?
Thanks,
Alan
You have to make sure USB Debugging is turn off and your bluetooth connection is turned off as well

After upgrading my galaxy tab 10.1 i had same problem with PC connections, recognized only as MTP without option to transfer files.
I upgraded media player from 10 to 11 in my XP computer, reinstalled usb driver from samsung site - it solved my problem.
Thanks krbernier

[Q] Android 4 PC

I am wanting to run Android 2.3.x or Android 3 from my PC. I know this is able to be done via booting to USB however is Android 3 in developement to do the same. I am considering setting up a PC solely with Android on my windows network.
It's not hard to do, I played around with it.
Download the Android OS (google) android-x86-2.3-RC1-tx2500.iso
If running Windows 7, run a virtual machine and you can run it from there.
Instructions were on a website but I don't remember which one.

Windows8 Drivers

I am having problems using Galaxy S3 i9300 4.1.1 with Windows 8 RTM x64.
I have installed Kies latest (2.5.0.12094_28). And i can see device is connected and i can even take backups. But when i am trying to send mp3 files it is giving an error "File Transfer from PC to 'GT-I9300' has been interrupted"
Also when the device is connected to PC via USB, i can see the contents in Windows Explorer but if i try to delete something, or upload a document there it says i dont have permisson.
With the same phone and PC, in Windows7 or XP there is no problem.
I have tried severel options like, "USB Debugging Mode", reinstall drivers, remove ghost drivers etc.
It just never worked for Windows8.
Any ideas or solutions?
I can tell you only: get used to it...nobody likes windows 8 and most likely even big companies will most likely slack doing drivers, even those who doesnt will yake their yime to make win8 drivers-dont get me wrong, i love win8, im running it since consumer preview

I mess about with stuff saved on my microSD card and phone very regularly with both my Windows 8 notebook (Release Preview) and tablet (RTM), connected by USB. My notebook has the Kies software installed, whereas the tablet doesn't. I don't have the problems you speak of.
On my notebook's Device Manager, with my phone plugged in, I have a category 'SAMSUNG Android Phone' with 'SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface' beneath it. Do you have that? My version of the driver is 2.9.503.726, dated 27/07/2012. On a side note, I also have the category 'Modems' with 'SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem' beneath it.
Have you tried uninstalling the drivers, and letting Windows install suitable drivers for you?

I also use 64x Win8, everything's fine. Try different drivers, maybe those from the S3 All In One Toolkit
Similar problem here, using a HP Elite book with Windows 8 (My Win7 machines and 10.7 Mac have no issues)
I am in the process of trying some drivers to see if they solve this problem.
Search for galaxy s3 toolkit andbinstall the drivers in that package they deffiniyely! My main build machine is runninh win8.1
