Hi guys,
I'm just waiting 2 receive my new mini and I don't have much experience yet with it since I have been using HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 so far.
Could you share your experience with various launchers, i.e. which one do you prefer and why?
I would need something simple with most important widgets like contacts, browser, weather etc.
Cheers
L1
ADW is best.... Have many options and costomization
Helix is also good
Helix is very Stable and good
I have had many Force Stops with ADW
I use Helix. Simple and fast (And they say it increases your battery life).
BTW, Anyone knew how to make the app drawer transparent? The black background? I still want to see my wallpaper when I'm opening the app drawer (my wallpaper is Droid eating apple)
i tried EVERY launcher out there...the conclusion: ADW is the best for me;
astonishing customization, very good speed, stability and battery consumption and the only one so far with the ability to turn every application or widget in a useful icon; for example you can put a "smart search" icon on your bottom dock bar...indispensable for me.
maybe not to many themes for now though
Try Zeam 1.5.1 (for Donut).
It's simple, fast, efficient and just does the job
ADW Launcher and Helix!
@pulpoff, can you please pm me that version I cant find it anywhere, thanks
ADW! let your creativity takes you!
Get my apps folder from black theme thread, its included in it.

pulpoff, can we change zeam bottom dock manually like launcher pro does? And does zeam has icon stretch like on ADW?

I use Zeam too -> Infopage: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664149
Download: slideme.org/application/zeam
But the infopage above says that it is only available for android 2.1 and there has been no update yet. Right?
I liked ahome 4 beta. but it got expired
Is it necessary to delete the default launcher after you installed a custom one, and if yes, how is it performed?
thanx
There is no need to remove it.
Simply restart your phone and a pop-up will appear to choose the launcher you want.

"Cupcake version (1.5.1) still available on *slideme.org/application/zeam"
anyone tried GDE?
Yes tried both GDE and ADW , Zeam is still the best.

i cant find zeam on market?
I've tried a fair number of Launchers/Homescreen Apps
but which one has the lowest memory footprint?
Even a dummy one without an app drawer is ok, I can use other ways of getting at my apps/widgets/shortcuts.
Thanks!
I found zeam to be very lightweight but they vary depending what widgets you use

+1 for Zeam's lightness.
launcher pro!!
Checking the stats LauncherPro its always using .85% of CPU and its smooth as hell.
Regular launcher is lowest men footprint
Next would be launcher+
Then taghome
There is s comparison of 33 different homes out there search for it

Absolutely :good:
I flashed CM10.1-lemon to my old Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 and while Trebuchet is impressive - I really like it - it's somewhat heavy for my old companion.
So, after trying a lot of launchers I found Zeam which is simply excellent: it's lightweight (then: FAST!), does not hog my smartphone, does support widgets and fits perfectly its role of launching apps.
Nevertheless it isn't the ideal launcher for any 'launcher geek/freak/enthusiast/power user' since it lacks a lot of options you find on more robust alternatives like Trebuchet[0] but still it does admirably well its job.
I totally encourage you guys give it a try if you're running your droids on old HW.
[0] Trebuchet is to KDE SC what Zeam is to LXDE (only that prettier).
Nova, Apex, all these launchers are pretty light nowadays. Kindly don't bring up a 18 months old topic unless it's absolutely necessary!

228kb :good:
Size of the launcher doesn't always correspond to ram usage.
Holo launcher, smart launcher, zeam, all use between 30-40mb ram.
Because of this I prefer holo launcher. One of the few launchers that allow you to hide apps in the app drawer, it's free with no adds. And supports icon packs for multiple launchers. And supports 2.3 and 4.0+.
Go launcher, launcher pro use 40+ mb.

Sorry to tell you, it takes 26MB just like the rest of the smallest launchers.
u0_a106 18688 376 356256 26856 ffffffff 00000000 S com.hola.launcher:gettingstart
v2.0 takes even more. It was over 50MB
Zeam takes about 28MB, but it starts real quick. About 1 second on my LG Sunrise.
korrectmethod knows what he's talking about. I haven't seen any decent launcher take less than 20MB memory.
If someone could prove me wrong that'd be awesome.
And no, mini desktop is *not* a decent launcher.
I'vs used so many launchers like Launcher Pro (Plus), ADW Launcher EX, Go Launcher EX, and so much more 3rd-party launchers, but I always seems to go back to stock GB launcher because of the graphic acceleration and the smoothness even with live wallpapers...
What launcher do you use and why? I really want to know Thanks
Stock, AdwEx, Nemus, Zeam and many more. I haven't found my "Favorite" yet. :-D

I use eclair launcher. Yay slide to open app drawer!

For slower phones I'm recommending LauncherPro, but for better-equipped mobiles GoLauncher is the best option due to large amount of cust. options, speed and reliability.
On LG GT540 I was using LauncherPro, and now on SGS - GoLauncher.
But what do you use? I'm just curious...

Nova Launcher is for ICS only.
It's a modified stock ICS launcher that gives your more options and customization.
Default Miui launcher, pretty much always use stock launchers.
Reason being, my attitude to computing devices is simple ...........
everything uses resources. On PC this isn't so much of an issue as PCs can have a deep pool of system resources to dip into. However on a mobile device thats not the case, so if i want my device to function quickly and
accurately then i need to NOT load it up with lots of non critical non productive
processes, that usually do nothing but impress n00bs with eyecandy.
oh, that sounds cool. I'll get that when i get ICS in my Nexus S thanks

Nemus
Zeem

Anyone know of a "minimalist" type launcher?
Nova Launcher is the best right now, but it's for ICS.
If you're still on GB, then use ADW EX.

Im currently using Nemus Launcher and i love it. Prettt smooth and the graphics are nice. Its kind of new, but it have all the features that you are going to need. It gets updated regulary, so the devs are still working with it.

You have to open the app drawer then hit then hit the menu button on your device then edit, now you should be able to drag/drop apps from the drawer onto the dock
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
Nope, just "Add page" / "Add folder"
In app drawer select edit from menu and drag the icon u want place on the dock in the dock area or change the number of dock icon from preferences/dock settiings.
Tw launcher is the smoothest for me, but it doesn't have landscape mode and hasn't been uptdated since ages ago so i switched to nemus... it would be great to have the best of both!

If it doesn't let you drag/drop then go into TWlauncher settings and go into Dock and change the icon count to 4, by default its on 1 I think, then restart & save and it should work

Hi! I have a question What is best launcher for mini pro? Stable, nice and fast? For me it's "Go Launcher EX".
Very customizable, a lot of themes and fast
Sorry for my bad English

Give a try for Next launcher.
I used to use Go Launcher EX before. But after some times, I rather use the launcher comes with custom roms. Just simpler and neater.

What you guys are saying is true onl for some launchers, and the one mentioned in this post certinly isn't famous for being light and fast and is probably one of he heaviest around. I made comparisons on actual data, with nova or apex installed as system apps i alwas get around 18-20mb of ram. xperia gx home i tried recently was shooting at around 25-28 which is about the same i got with go...Imo nova has best speed to options ratio available atm
