Spotted on Droidlife, Johnboy unboxes a pre-production HTC Rezound(Vigor). Is this the phone to have?
Source
I don't think it is. My phone is overclocked to 1.5 and almost a gig of ram. It is a nice phone though. Plus its on Verizon the highest cost cell company in the US. These phones are getting better and better but you have to pay an arm and a leg for the data.

Damn, it doesn't look like it's coming to the UK according to HTC UK. They posted this on their Facebook page.

Any news on if the HTC Rezound will be coming to the UK?

HTC UK Hi Chris - it's only configured for Verizon's US networks, so we have no plans to release it here right now.

Yeah I had a feeling it wont be released here sadly.
So that means my upgrade is either a 5 month old Sensation or SGS2 or Galaxy Nexus.
Or sell Galaxy Nexus and get Sensation XE.
Yup, I ordered a Sensation XE this morning on the strength of seeing the news re Rezound.
only issue with XE is its still the same hardware as Sensation and so its still a 5 month old phone just like SGS2. Only option for new phones are Moto RAZR or Galaxy Nexus.
True, but I'm not keen on either of them.
hardware wise the RAZR is awesome as its got AMOLED+ qHD screen, 1GB RAM, 16GB memory plus SD card support.
only thing is I dont know if its pentile screen or not and no sense
The display is gorgeous. The blacks looks like AMOLED type of blacks, but it's a super LCD.
$30 is an arm and a leg?

It's just the American version of the S2, if you've got an S2 already, it's not exciting at all.
Sooo Pumped
Will be selling my EVO and buying this phone day one. It's thinner than the iPhone 4 and has a beastly dual core processor.
I have had my Evo for less than a year and it's the second HTC phone with which I have had issues. My EVO is a lemon, my screen goes blank for no reason, I can't get Handcent SMS to work at all, the ring is either too loud or too soft. My wife and several friends have EVOs and they have none of the issues I have. Tried to recreate the issues at a Sprint store and of course they don't happen. Anyway, this is great news for me.

Call customer service, if your having these issues (mostly the screen off) there is no reason they shouldn't swap it for you. That said sell your new one and have a GS2 shipper over early.
Here’s a bit of interesting news to keep us talking over the weekend as a new T-Mobile inventory screengrab has fallen into our inbox indicating the HTC Sensation 4G, HTC Amaze 4G, LG DoublePlay, LG myTouch Q and LG myTouch are nearing their end-of-life status. We should remind you that “end-of-life” does not mean the Amaze 4G will immediately disappear from store shelves — if anything there could be still be weeks worth of inventory sitting in T-Mobile warehouses. That being said, the idea that the top two HTC Android phones on T-Mobile are nearing the end of their run hopefully tells us something new is on the horizon. The HTC Ville perhaps?
As we look down the list at the LG handsets nearing end-of-life, we’re asking ourselves if anyone out there is terribly surprised that the myTouch and myTouch Q along with the DoublePlay are already nearing the end of their run? None of these phones were ever positioned to be heavy hitters and the DoublePlay, with its unique dual-screen approach was never given the kind of marketing or billing a phone that unique could have received.
Our first thought after reading through this list was one of hope, that T-Mobile will replace some of their high-end devices like the HTC Amaze 4G and Sensation 4G with other, top of the line handsets. Unfortunately, we’ve got very little information about what is in the T-Mobile pipeline for 2012, but we imagine with the Amaze 4G going away, T-Mobile isn’t going to replace it with anything other than a phone that exceeds the already powerful expectations the Amaze 4G set. While the first quarter for T-Mobile might be a little sparse, our hope is that the second quarter of 2012 and beyond will be filled with lots of exciting handsets as T-Mobile revs up their lineup to lure new customers in.

They just released the amaze few months back.
Edit: Concerned About Our End Of Life Post For the HTC Sensation4G/Amaze4G? Don’t Be.
Judging by your comments, Tweets, emails and Facebook posts a number of you expressed some concern and confusion over our recent “End-Of-Life” post for the HTC Amaze 4G, Sensation 4G among others. In hindsight, I suppose I should have made sure this was put into the post surrounded by neon lights to avoid any confusion or panic, but “End Of Life” only means it is the end of the “shelf life” for the phone. In other words, the phone will no longer be sold once the end of life is actually put in place, which we emphasize could still be weeks away. This DOES NOT mean the end of T-Mobile or HTC support, or the cancellation of planned Ice Cream Sandwich updates which are still scheduled for the Amaze 4G and Sensation 4G. There is no reason to be concerned over those updates and the phones remain covered by their warranties. I have little doubt HTC will continue to update them as planned.
All this being said, let’s re-emphasize that there is no reason to be concerned over that post as this isn’t the first instance T-Mobile or its competitors have set a number of phones for end of life at the same time. It is clear however that T-Mobile will have to replace them with alternative (and likely improved) models so we’ll just have to kick back and wait and see what Magenta has in store.

If they replace the Amaze already i will honestly probably leave T-mobile asap. The phone has only been out for 3 months. in 4 months the Sensation will be one year old so that would be not too bad but still. i could care less for the rest though. The amaze isnt even THAT much of an upgrade from the sensation anyways so im pretty sure it has nothing to do with power..

Reading this news will make it a better choice to go with the SGS2 (if people were torn between the two phones).
This thread should be sent all around to show how much HTC / T-mobile cares about their users. Think im going to wait and see how this actually goes and if it actually happens im going to wait till the Xperia S comes out and probably go to that.
Wow...I've had the phone for 2 weeks. Kind of insane news if this holds up. I could understand if the phone was plagued with issues, but honestly since I've owned both phones, the Sensation and the Amaze, the quality of the Amaze is superior.
I understand technology moving forward and such, but how many iPhones get released every year?
What happened to promoting the phone and giving it a chance? Speaking of promoting the phone, did T-mobile or HTC ever have a commercial for the Amaze? (This doesn't include the iphone vs amaze videos that T-mobile did.)
Also - not like they yanked the Sensation away when the Amaze came out, just because its a better phone.

You guys also have to remember that up until a months ago, T-Mobile wasnt sure if it was going to be a company. They didnt have as much into future plans.
Now that the ATT deal is done we are 150% in making a strong presence in 2012, phones and all
ok guys i dont care about the LG phones but really the two top htc phones out for tmobile now end of life? the amaze have a few months old not a lot, but im curious remember while back when apple won in court against htc and htc latest phones will be banned in 2012! i wonder if this have something to do with it?
but really if they have in mind of coming out with new hanset why take away the best phones they have! that no sence, and by the way the amaze is better than the samsuck
and Tw launcher and remember at least htc is more friendly than samsuck
dont forget the G2X has been EOL for a while and I still have quite a few in my store

this has nothing to do with it im sure. its most of their old phones, like the incredible etc. all the phones shipped with froyo most likely. the sensation and amaze were not on that list.
This is complete crap, I can only take so much solace in a manufacturer update. EOL means devs have less of an opportunity or motivation to work on the device.
Craigslisting this abandoned step child as soon as tmobile announces a succesor.
I still do not see clear evidence of that happening. All that link shows is a picture regarding some backorders and some whatever 3 paragraph comments some dude has written. And remeber tmonews is not official rep of tmobile so personally ifind that article total crap

HTC made be heading in a new direction with phone design for their android phones. Even though the Amaze 4G is a new phone the design is old. HTC has used the same design for years. I like HTC design/build, but the public seems to prefer Samsung build/design for Android. I think the Galaxy S line is the top selling android phone worldwide.

Hey I live in Europa and Im already waiting for the Droid Dna since the first leaks but unfortunately it's not for Europe (they said).
HTC recently announced that the HTC Butterfly is going global and I'm super happy.
But, here's the thing:
HTC always announces new flagships at MWC so I dont want to buy a new phone in january when another/newer flagship gets released just 2 months afer.
What do you guys think? Will HTC reveal a new flagship at MWC or not. Should I buy the Butterfly or wait?
P.S: Sorry for my bad English.
You should wait till mwc 2013 DNA/butterfly/butterfly j are not international models but the butterfly can take gsm meaning it is international but only cause any gsm network will work. The official flagship is out in February with a better camera/design/processor/hopefully a bigger battery. The latest international flagship in the west regions Europe/America is the one x+. The butterfly is ONLY aimed at the Asian market.

It was announced that the Butterfly was for the Asian market only. HTC are said to be working on a device codenamed the "M7" for the European market.
Droid DNA = US.
J Butterfly = Japan
Butterfly = Asia
No European release as yet.
I decided to import a Droid DNA from the US and I don't regret it for a second (apart from UK Customs basically robbing me in tax charges).
I could have waited for HTC to release the European variant but let's be honest, no-one knows when or even if this will happen. If u want a Butterfly/DNA import one. You could be waiting a very long time otherwise if it gets released to the Euro market at all.

Oh ok I got you. So if I want this phone I'm better off getting it from Verizon. I don't like the big Verizon logo in front of it but oh well... thanks for the info!

I don't see a point of waiting. I got mine Droid DNA yesterday and i am trully happy with it. But in February when Butterfly will be released, there will be announces from Samsung. And a for now, we have the best smartphone in the market. Don't wait, waiting is killing
I could have either gotten the DNA or waited to Feb. as we have an upgrade for this month and in Feb./2013.
the choice was easy,
I bought the DNA.
I was scared of the 5' screen, coming from the largest I ever used daily was 4.3(Rezound), I sold my GNEX for the Rezound because I liked the size better and was HTC
but, I'm actually coming from the INC4 (4') to the DNA which is a full inch bigger.
I have to admit, I hated it the first hour or so. I felt it was way too big and I could never use this for my daily. within an hour, I realized how well this phone feels, I can even do most things with one hand.
You could wait -- but why when the hottest phone is out right now.
the screen on this phone is un-real. the quality built is the best HTC has ever put out for VZW, IMO, except maybe the HTC droid Eris, that phone was awesome.
anyway sorry for the rant. for me it was easy not to wait, but I suggest getting the DNA. also when the next hot phone drops and if you really want it, you could always sell the DNA and get new phone. might cost you some, but IMO if you wait, you're always waiting, unless you know a phone is coming that you want.
If I knew VZW would be getting an HTC phone like the DNA or like the one series (not like theinc4, that phone isn't built nearly as nice as the one series phone) I would have waited 4 maybe ever 6 months for it.
in words of John Garcia "The waiting is harrrd, -- it fNNNkNNN takesss soooooooooo longgg"
Hey yall I was wondering if any of you guys happened to be running T-Mobile on an international One X+ like I am. I just got the phone and I am loving it so far.
But I was wondering if there were any suggestions as to which ROM's (AT&T vs International) play the nicest with T-Mobile??
And yes, my area is fully refarmed to the 1900 frequency so I do get T-Mobile 3G

If you are on an international phone you need international roms. You will most likely be plugging in your APN's manually though. Roms are not carrier specific they are hardware specific. If your device is the non at&t LTE version then it sounds like you should use international. This is going off of your limited information.

Alright thanks. I didn't realize that the international and AT&T ROMs were not compatible with each phone (On the One S you could flash an international ROM on a T-Mobile model probably because of lack of LTE etc. )
I'm a T-Mobile user currently with and iPhone 5 and a Nexus 4 and I can't get rid of one of these fast enough to get the HTC One X+ although I'll be buying the at&t version at full price, which is about a $100 cheaper than the international version and it comes with 64gb standard, not sure about the International version, I also can't stand those red accents
I'm hoping to use a One X+ on T-Mobile, but I'm waiting a bit for prices to come down. I'd also like to get a Telus/Canadian version (which is the same at the AT&T version, I believe, minus the AT&T bloatware and branding). I haven't figured out a way to get one yet though (there are lots' of AT&T ones on eBay, etc.).

Just curious why you prefer the One X+ over the Nexus 4. That's the other phone I've considered (as an upgrade from my now aging Nexus One). My main concerns about the Nexus 4 are the limited storage space, the fragile glass back, not the best battery life, and the so-so camera. I also just like the design of the One X+ more. My concerns about the One X+ are that it uses a previous generation CPU and has less RAM.

The Nexus 4 has better specs, hands down. But inferior optics and design, functionally and aesthetically. The glass back is bound to break and the design is unremarkable. The One X+ definitely will be last gen after CES, but I can live with it for year.

The Nexus 4 has a better cpu and gpu and more RAM, but I think that's about the only specs that are better than the One X+. Am I missing something?
As you note the One X+ has better optics. It also has far more storage (64 GB vs 16 GB). And I've read a lot of reviews saying it has the best screen out there (except now for the DNA), but definitely better than the Nexus 4 (although it's very good too). The One X+ I think is also supposed to have better sound quality. And, as I mentioned, it seems to have better battery life in tests.
Anyway, thanks for your comments. Obviously the cpu is a major important component, even if there are other specs where the One X+ is better. I tend to keep my phones longer than a year, so I want it to be good enough to be a little bit future proof.
On the other hand, I was just reading about leaks for the HTC M7 that will replace the One X+ in the spring, with a 1080p 4.7" screen (468 dpi!), other improvements to the screen quality, a S4 pro quad-core cpu, 2 GB RAM, improvements to the camera opitcs, and a 2300 Mha battery. So that is going to quickly make the One X+ last generation, as you say. Of course, if it's announced in the spring, there will be the inevitable delays before it's released, and then waiting for the price to come down, it will probably be the end of the year before I could get one anyway, so I don't know that it's worth waiting for. But it's hard to know that it's out there on the horizon. I just hope it has a good design (I don't really like what HTC did with the DNA).

I would go with the Nexus 4 if I as you. But your biggest issues would be the storage and the glass back. The camera is wayyy better the the Nexus One's. I've owned every Nexus, and it's camera is right under the Galaxy S III's and the iPhone 5's. I don't understand why LG couldn't use the same optics, but the phone is definitely for you if cost and longevity are issues for you. The processor is definitely better than the Tegra 3, but I'll probably only have it for a year. The longest I've owned a single phone was about 10 months.

I was wondering, what would be the best phone to upgrade to from a Virgin Mobile HTC EVO 3D/V?
preferably from VM or Boost. which phone would be the best to get (value-per-money wise)?
im not really going to upgrade anytime soon, but i'm making plans to do so in about a year.
so far im looking into:
HTC Desire 601
HTC One SV
ZTE Supreme
LG Optimus F7
i'm mainly looking into for something with decent specs and community support. LTE is important, since i live in an area where 3G sucks, no 4G, but there's LTE all over. budget-wise, not willing to spend more than $250 since i paid $270 for my 3VO just to see its price drop it like its hot afterwards. some of the phones listed are over the budged stated, but remember i'm talking a year in the future. also, which other devices do you expect to see arrive to VM/Boost in the coming year?
None of them.
Currently in the same situation. The only logical clear cut upgrade would be the Galaxy S3.
Those phones lack in some area compared to the 3d in some areas be it type of display/resolution, development wise, and build quality. The galaxy S3 would be the only phone to give you a FULL upgrade in all areas compared to the EVO 3d.
1. 1280x720 AMOLED display
2. HUGE development community due to it being 99.9% similar to the sprint version
3. LTE
4. 4.8 inch screen

For the future maybe you can hope they put the LG optimus G(nexus 4 sister) for $250 sometime next year?
The zte supreme is a great phone only issue is development issues. Its been rooted but not much else. I believe there is a version of cwm available for it.

i agree with Kippui. i took a closer look to all of them, specs, reviews, development, accessories, everything. i considered the ZTE Supreme until i found out the problems people are having with the display backlight, and its poor development. then fell down to HTC Desire 601, but i realized its really not much of an upgrade. i was gonna stick to it anyways, because of my limited budget. but i see the S3 got a price cut, plus i almost forgot i can get it off HSN without having to shell out the $300+ at the moment.
i consider anything more powerful than an S3 to be overkill IMO. so yeah, maybe S3 and flash Cyanogenmod or something.
