install zip from sd card > select zip from sd card (probably will be at the bottom, use volume keys to navigate) >select and then install

I have select install from zip file. I got to select ext sd but it say no file found.

YOu have to put the .zip files in your INTERNAL sd card. CWM can't install zip files placed on your external sd card (or at least 4.x.y.z versions)

[Q] When I go to flash a rom from recovery and choose /sd

as soon as I use power to select "/sd" it flashes me back into the same directory tree like I didn't select it at all. Am I missing something obvious?
try using the back softkey as your select button
/sd is your ext sd card, roms should be installed from /sdcard (internal).
If you have it in the correct place, perhaps you are not scrolling to the very bottom of the list in cw recovery when you are selecting your file to flash.

Are you saying I should put the rom in the main memory (lacking proper term here) of my phone instead of the "external" removable sdcard?
move the rom .zip file to the root of sdcard/ (this is the internal memory). If you are putting it at sdcard/sd, this is your external memory and is not correct.

[Q] [Probl] CWR (Recovery) can't acces my sdcard to install .zip files

After a drop down, my phone started to beep and charge itself without connecting to charger or USB. Usb couldn't recognize it as USB2 device, so I'we done a factory reset, every thing was ok but CWR can't see my sdcard.
I tried, stock rom, custom roms, repartition, format, kernels, older cwr, nothing, so I'am stuck with odin.
Can u help me, pls.
RESOLVED. - clean flash new stock rom
Can your phone when on see the SD card? If it can, and you're just wanting to flash .zip files from CWM recovery, why not put them on the internal storage?
I can acces my internal storage, with file managers but not in cwr, he can't find any files or folders on my internal (USB) storage.
Im sure cwm doesnt read external sd card

I have no external sd, this is about internal storage card, what is not recognized by cwr
So why did you say can't acces my sdcard?
Are you sure you're using CWM recovery correctly? For example, Apply update from .zip file on SD card --> choose zip from internal sdcard.
Note, I said choose zip from internal sdcard (5th option), not "choose zip from sdcard".
You are right the new CWR has separated options.....
Meanwhile a got it, after installing new Sijah
Can u install rom to external or set it to instal apps directly to external sd?
I have no idea what you're asking, but didn't you just say you don't have an external SD anyway?
With my old (broken) rom, i couldn't acces my internal storage with cwr, the new cwr 5 has separated storages as you mentioned,
Now i reflashed clompletly my sgs and i can see all my files and install .zip. so i resolved, it.
But hey thanks for underlineing the new options in cwr.

Seems like you're using the apply update from sd card option instead of install zip from sd card option.
You have to use the "install zip from sd card" option, then select "choose zip from sdcard".
Also put the file on the external sd card instead of the internal sd card since thats what cwm picks up as default sdcard for me.

the actual internal sd card and android.secure was on that the dead sd card so what shall i do
1. Calm down.
2. Instead of mounting an sd card, you could mount usb storage in CWM. Then connect to your pc, transfer a rom (CWM flashable zip) to your sd card (internal or external, doesn't matter. Whichever you have working at the moment).
3. Flash rom in CWM.

Can't install zip from sd card

Hi
Trying to install custom Rom from CWM recovery but there isn't any zip file there?
see the photos...
format sd card both in NTFS & FAT32 but no result, the sd card is detected and work but doesn't appear in CWM...!!!
any help?
It's not under /legacy? If not, then either try a different recovery or put the rom zip on the internal storage vs external if you have both.
