What can i do to get better signal strength and performance - Motorola Photon 4G

I am rooted,I love the phone as is. I Just want to take a great phone and make it better
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App

Well, you could over clock...But its probably not very useful since everything is pretty much smooth as any device out there right now.
There are some bulid.prop mods you can do that tweak things a little better.
Not sure where that thread is right now though.

I'll give a look into it. Thanks

whats the biggest problem you have with your vibrant?

Tell us your biggest problem you have with the tmobile galaxy s vibrant.
how would you change it?
Samsung/T-Mobile support an easy to break USB ports that's all overall excellent phone
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
The USB port that's basically it. Also battery life sucks for me as well.
This phone was pretty well built other than the GPS sucking, but I don't use it that much nor do I actually have big problems like others.
We also need more love from Samsung so we can get a Gingerbread leak going
wonder why the usb ports dont last in these. maybe location?

Cuz before we use to plug in the phones just to charge them. Now every time you log in to XDA (or your favorite Devs. forum) there is some new **** you wanna install in your phone....plug-unplug...oh I just found this new cool wallpaper...plug-unplug...new ROM...plug-unplug...new kernel...plug-unplug...new (you get the point). You probably plug-unplug your phone 10 times during the course of one day. Back then it was just once every 2-3 days to charge. Don't say they make them cheaper now, they just get abused now.
...Oh yeah, almost forgot. My biggest problem (besides not getting GB for the Vibrant) is that when I wanna take a picture in a dark place I noticed I'm missing that little small LED light that shines when you take a picture which most new phones comes with....what is it called???...oh yeah is a ****ING FLASH SAMSUNG! WTF what is a roll of the dice? "OK lets see which of the new Galaxy S devices is NOT getting a flash just for the **** of it...roll it"...OR.... "Sir, sir we forgot to put a flash on the one going out for t-mobile"...." **** them I have Verizon anyways, keep going"
**** lack of proper gps, **** bad usb (actually mine is alright so idk) but goddammit! Why the **** doesn't this have flash?
there isn't even a logical answer to that.

Gps is basically it... my biggest problem with my galaxy S is the lack of a II next to the name. Honestly, i just feel crappy that i dont have the best phone on the market.

One other thing not really problem but what is up with the hump I know yea can find smaller antenna oh yea an speaker on back so when lay phone down volume is lower plz put somewhere else but I doubt that will happen
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
i dont really have any problems actually just weak wifi but thats not a big problem im still loving this phone
ffc was obviously planned then removed, maybe they planned to release a second version with it all along.... kind of weasel-ish if you ask me
"omg new phone! it has what we took out of the first one!"
My only problem is getting the gps to work. If I manage to get it to work flawlessly, I'd be happy. As for battery life, I've found the ROMs that do give me the best battery life.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Flash and FFC, seriously what the frack T-Mo?!! Why would you take the best phone on the market (at the time) and ****ING CRIPPLE IT!!!
GPS was **** at first and still isn't the best but it works well enough for me after all the software fixed and I've never had a problem with the USB port. Knock on wood.

Instability with dungeon defenders and plants vs. zombies. Gps. That's about it. Great phone. Great ROM available. Actually, using biffmod rom fixed gps and pvz issues. Now it's just dungeon defenders.
Small gripe, looks so much like an Iphone.

Well..they are not giving us updates at correct times.

Now I'm impressed

Ok, had a bit a of let down with my WiFi issues and didn't know it but had a bad recovery.
Flashed and fixed that and now on mean 1.4. Gotta say I can't put it down. The phone is really working well now. No more WiFi issues and very snappy.
Really can't wait to see what will really happen as the devs sink their teeth in.
My battery life now blows. Well because I can't stop playing with it. Might go blind.

Antutu ?

Just wondering what other's benchmark scores were on Antutu? Do you have your phone OC'ed? Mine was always around 8200 however after trying out a new kernel to fix my call audio issue the benchmark fell to 7800.. Is that a big difference? It seems that all of the devices scoring over 9k are all on 4.1.2, is there really anything to that? Just kind of wanted to get a discussion going since I do not see any other threads about it on the Q&A section.
Edit- Well I just moved my apps back to the sd after doing all of the flashing and now it's back up to 8228!
Good info. Did you run the stability tests also and were they the same at the higher speeds. Also are you using the paid version or free? Thanks
Edit: Mine were only 7377. And I see there is no paid version. Seems I have work to do to speed things up..
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Of course no comparison between users is possible because speeds depend more on the cellular/data traffic at the tower you are connected to than the ROM/modem you are trying to measure.
These measurements can be slightly useful for a user to compare ROMs/modems in the area they typically use their service.
Your difference of 400 is the size of a text message, so no, not significant. But it feels better, I'm sure.
It's checking the speed of the CPU, ram, video and SD card read/ write right? What difference would modem and such have?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The OP mentioned call audio issues, and benchmarks, so I thought he was measuring network speed. If I assumed incorrectly, please forgive me.
Yeah maybe your right now that I re-read it. And I just loaded the program so really don't know what all it measures..
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I was more or less just wondering if the stats were changed based on what kernel or ROM you may be running or if there was something else that could change the performance. After seeing the sgs4 benchmarks I feel like that phone must be the smoothest thing ever because it is head and shoulders better scores than the note.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Sorry for the double post but ranger are you sure it is testing the download/upload? I did not think that was included.

Best DNA ROM

Hi All,
I have been running Viper 1.2 for some time now and really am anxious to get on something new.
I have no interest in running AOSP or any variations.
Could I get suggestions of what might be my best option (not buggy) that I could use as a daily driver for a little while.
I like what I see for Sense 5 ROMs too.
Thanks!
newts Sense 5 Rom. The best, I have tried them all.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
In order to get a good answer you need to be more specific with your question.
What is important for you to get from the rom?
Battery life? Performance? Eye candy? or may be its CM?
Anyway, i guess you should change your question a bit before one of the mods will delete this thread
Xda doesn't allow threads to compare roms your going to have to try them yourself because I can guarantee that a mod will close this soon.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
I didn't ask for a comparison....I need a good non buggy Rom for a daily driver with some nice bells and whistles and just asked for an opinion. Would prefer sense 5. I know the rules.

Newts is good but I feel like it was a little buggy and the battery was not great but not terrible... I prefer the Bamf sense 5 rom that Joel made

Newts is the best that I have tried. I paired that with crpalmers kernel and my phone has never been better.

Mustafa's Hatka Supreme ROM works great and has amazing battery life. The only issue I've had so far was getting MMS to work but it was an easy fix.
Agree with those who said newts Rom. It is by far the most bug free and customized Rom. Through a custom kernel on it and you'll never look back.

Agreed, I'm running this setup as well.
Battery life on the dna is going to suck no matter what rom you use.

I disagree. I get through a day quite easily on most roms.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
My battery usually has to be put on the charger at around 10 pm and I get up at 6 for school. Granted I probably don't use my phone as much as most people here since I'm in class all day. I'm on stock.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
I get excellent battery life. I'm running Viper 1.2 with Zarboz' kernel (stock settings).
I just took a look and it says I still have 83% battery after 6 hours 47 minutes on battery. Usage: several texts, phone calls, syncing with my Jawbone UP band, checking email; light to medium use I guess.
All the ROMs are great. I observed a slight better battery life on the Sense5 ones though. Since I am not a big fan Sense5, especially the blink feed, I get bored with it the very first day. This big bright HD screen is made to show bright and beautiful colors. Not just black and white. Sense 5 still looks sharp though. My main reason to keep going back to ViperDNA is the sound. On it my phone shakes the Beats Solo HD and vibrates the Studios (with PowerAmp of course, Sony xLoud and the Beats mod from eriknors' thread). It doesn't feel as strong and powerful on the other roms. I mostly use two songs for test: Go Hard or Go Home by E-40, Fuel by Metallica.
Everything is opinion based on what you like. But who MIKE D has something awesome coming.
