[Q] Add DTS ability to stock player - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,Does we have any chance to watch and hear a movie with dts audio played by stock player?
Thanks.

Any help

You'd have to ask Samsung about that one, it's their player, not open-source.
I doubt they'd want to put the work into a feature that would be used by very few people though. You'd be better off using a 3rd party player.

The only app I know that plays DTS audio is DicePlayer...but it's not powerful like stock player.
Some of the movies played with lags in DicePlayer

I have watched a video file with DTS audio using MX Video Player and it is more powerful then the stock player.

Hi,about MX Video..
In HW (Hardware) Decoder mode - When the phone connected with HDMI to TV,the subtitle(srt file with the same name as movie) don't show at TV.
SW Decoder - When the phone connected with HDMI to TV its show the subtitle in TV but the player don't fill all the TV screen,it leaves black frame that in it the movie plays.
Does we have any chance to add DTS ability to stock player? because the stock works perfectly with HDMI connection.
Thanks.

Playing 6 channel AAC audio

How would I play videos with 6 channel AAC audio encoding? Stock vibrant video player as well as mVideo player plays with no sound. Rockplayer has choppy video and scrambled audio. I know I can convert to 2 channel, but is it the only way? Since Vibrant has a 5.1 mode with headphones I doubt if the hardware lacks the power to decode. Any good media player that can handle 6 channel audio?
Any one?

While this doesn't answer your question, I'll gladly share my Vibrant handbrake preset with you so you can re encode if you'd like.

Had the same problem when I tried watching Karate Kid idk why but it was the video setting was too large had to make it 800x480 without touching the sound settings and it worked read it on a website somewhere... Hope this helps
QQplayer works but no subtitles...

Faster Video Playback

Can someone recommend an android app for increasing the playback of video files? I've found a number of audio apps, but nothing popping up for video.
QQPlayer and MX Player work very well on my Optimus One. Video playback is very smooth. Just dont expect to watch HD Video on an non HD device, playback will be slow then no matter what you use.
I recommend Mobo player, works fine on my SGSII
Qq and MD is best it support avi vob divx mkv all format
Best one I have found by far is Dice Player. Mobo Players is really good too but I use it mostly for running software mode to test stability.
BSplayer lite is quite good, very similar to diceplayer, but its free.

If you want to change playback speed of video. try diceplayer.
diceplayer can change playback speed up to x1.8(HW) , x1.5(SW)
Do any players support 3:2 pulldown and proper syncing with the refresh rate?

Video Player for .mkv

Hi folks, I have a problem with the Razr's video capabilities.
On the Galaxy SII I've used Dice Player to watch 1080p mkv video files but on the Razr Dice Player only shows a scrambled coloured picture. I got in contact with the developer and he said he failed to support the chipset.
Other players like MX Video only play in Software decoding mode which means it's far from fluid.
Do anyone know a possibility to have HW-acceleration for 1080p video files?
None yet that I know of.

Did the developer tell you why he failed to support the chipset? I have the exact same problem you do with DICE too. In fact, on the SGS II, the stock player also plays mkv just fine.
Will hardware acceleration in ICS solve this problem?

This is the answer from the developer:
Hi,
I have tried to fix the issue, but I have failed to fix. Currently I can't support the MOTO devices with OMAP4 and you can only play with Software Player. I'll try to fix it, but I can't say when it is fixed.

On the SGSII I never had problems with 1080p mkv. Maybe it's a problematic file.
Actually it is. SGS II is the only Android device i know of that can play 1080p mkv without problems with even the stock player.
Of course, if you flash for example, Cyanogen 7.x over it, then the stock player is unable to do that. Only DICE can of course.
I figure it has to do with the way the player itself is programmed to support the chipset too and of course, the chipset's capabilities.
Lets hope the DICE developer gets it right for the Razr soon.

More about DICE here and it's limitations(or rather, those of some chipsets).
I got a reply. I told the dev that the OMAP 44XX chip in the Galaxy Nexus is supported so why can't this work. He said it's due to the lack thereof of hardware acceleration natively in Gingerbread.
Once the Razr gets ICS, he'll be able to get that to work too.
Vital player from the market should work no worries
MX player with sw audio decode
Software decoding of mkv = horrible video playback performance.
software for audio only , for some reason mkv dont have sound with hw decode
audio pass through
I want to connect RAZR to Audio-Video receiver with HDMI and have option in video player "audio pass through" to listen 5.1 audio channel in ac3 or dts format in video files.
Does anyone know video player with this option?
You guys should try mobo player. I've used it on my evo, 3vo, Thunderbolt and razr. Works great!

what about BSPlayer?
this means we need to wait for the dev to fix it for wait till ICS comes..
Why doesn't mx video player support dts sound?
Mx player is the best player ever.
Light and complete.

MX player doesn't play mkv with sound... BS player does
Are you sure mx player doesn't play.mkv in either HW or SW Decoding mode? I know i have to switch it over to SW to get audio on. avi files but the default is HW which does play audio on. mp4 and. wmv. Pretty sure I've watched. mkv with sound before using mx player....
DROID RAZR
BS Player plays my 1080P mkv anime movies perfectly

For me HW works for h264 videos only.
You can change the filters for ms player so that everything uses Hardware Mode but that will probably take a while as you have to change each one one at a time.
Onlyh264 format plays he mode thati have seen. mkv plays software mode. luckilyi have most of my videos in that format. I use anydvdhd and handbrake. Any dvd to strip the drm and handbrake to burn toh264(.m4v) file it works great

[Q] What do you use to watch media from your phone?

I like having my movies on my ad card cause when I'm sitting at people's houses and tell them "I've got _______ on bluray on my phone." And play it through the PS3, 360, or whatever. But the stock media player on the phone doesn't play all file formats. Any suggestions on what else I can use? Or and I S.O.L and better just keep being cool with playing it through other media outlets.....

i have tried almost every video player on the market and only one stands out of them.
i have alot of 1080p videos and hardware acceleration is very important to me as software mode is slow and eats up battery life when playback.
i tried mx video player, mobo player, etc... and they fail on some video files i have. they either has no (audio sound, no hw acceleration, etc...)
i have alot of onboard f1 videos directly stream sniped on f1.com and converting it to another format is not an option as they would introduce a/v sync issue
an example file would be this one http://www.mediafire.com/?zkpx798acmcdlb0
the only video player that works for hardware acceleration is Vplayer. though, i also keep a copy of mx video player as Vplayer lacks the seek swipe feature and it is sometimes slow on buffering.

Vplayer for hardware acceleration and screen lock (so my kid can't touch the screen and stop the vid).
MX player has a kidd plugin that makes shapes and noises when you touch the screen also locks it with out the plug in. its good for kids to watch movies and keep themselves entertained watching bunnies and stars appear wherever they touch while watching Toy Story https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.kidslock&hl=en
