I got it via a non pay no add link myself and I've recommend it. Seems much smoother and more stable that the last 'new' market with books and movies.

This market version is really for phones, not tablets, right?
I prefer the HC version.

I have been looking at some alternative launchers for the View/Flyer. The only ones that show up in the market for me are ADW, Launcher Pro, and VTL. I could not get it to show SPB Shell 3D, Go Launcher, nor the Zeam Launcher. I am currently using ADW Ex. I would like to know what alternative launchers others have found and are using.I was thinking of giving circle launcher a try. What I am looking to do here is find an alternative launcher that allows me to all of that extra space on the tablet desktop instead of being stuck in a 4x4 world. I am also looking for it to be lightweight, fast, and looks decent.
Go Launcher
Hello,
Go Launcher just works fine. It does not appears on the market but you can easily get the apk on their web site here:
http://golauncher.goforandroid.com/
Download directly with your Flyer, then launch the apk with any file explorer to install!
I tried the last beta, and didn't notice any problem.
Honeycomb would be an answer. Still waiting

I used Go Launcher on my Samsung Galaxy Tab and preferred it over Samsung's native launcher. So it was one of the first apps I installed when I bought my Flyer. I'm not a real big fan of the HTC Sense interface, but it didn't take long to figure out that I prefer it over the Go Launcher on the Flyer (that I returned) and the View that I carry with me everywhere (in a M-Edge case that I had modified with a belt clip).
I am concerned that Honeycomb would cause a loss of compatibility with all of the useful (phone) apps that I sideloaded onto the View. I don't know why the market blocks so many useful apps for the Flyer / View, but it's pretty easy to use MyAppSharer to email apps from my EVO 4G to my View.
So I think I finally have my Touchpad set up just the way I want it. As everyone is aware having a tablet with gingerbread poses some unique problems so I wanted to start a list of what I think the best apps are and hopefully people will add other apps.
Email - Kaiten Email (has 2 panes and looks good in portrait and landscape)
RSS - gReader (has 2 panes in landscape)
Notes - Evernote looks amazing
GPS - TetherGPS - To send gps from my droid x2 to touchpad
Browser - Dolphin HD
Game -Chessfree
Calendar - aCalendar (has a really nice widget and the app looks good too)
Remote Desktop - Splashtop (on sale for 99 cents ... or on getjar for free)
Weather - Weatherbug
Photos - Picfolio (links to picasa and allows you to search your tags)
Keyboard - Thumbkeyboard
Misc - Killswitch (to turn the screen off when case is closed)
Dropbox
Box.net (only because of the free storage they gave us)
Jefit (workout tracking app)
Maybe the title of this thread should be:
"Best combination of Apps for the Android on Touchpad"
Perhaps they should have a separate section for Touchpads running Android and Touchpads running WebOS. It will make it easier to find what people are looking for.
I'm currently running a HTC Flyer P512 (Market used to identify it
as "HTC Flyer P510e" but since I changed to LeeDrOid's Honeycomb
v2.0.0 rom its identified as "HTC_Flyer_P512_NA" something in
build.prop probably changed ).
ROM: LeeDrOid's HC v2.0.0
I'm not even sure which launcher's support Honeycomb
or how they display the icons on the desktop.
Do any of them offer a replacement for People's full screen
widget to select contact by image? Do any of the offer a
calendar agenda view widget?
There are several alternative launchers on the market. ADW EX and Go-Launcher are two that are quite popular. They both offer some extra features over the stock Android.
But... you cannot use HTC widgets with them and I have never found any third party widgets that are comparable to some of HTC's. There's a couple of People contact widgets out that are not bad, but no email or bookmarks that work well. There's lots of calendar apps that are pretty good. My preferred setup is to keep sense and use ADW EX as an alternate. Then I can have best of both. I use Sense when I am working and need my emails and contacts handy and ADW when I am relaxing and want to play.
You can easily switch which is your default launcher.
How do I get the alternate launcher to start?
I'm using LeeDrOid's Honeycomb v2.0.0 ROM
The sense launcher is the current default,
how do I get a prompt to switch, or is there
an app that does that?
If you have another launcher installed hit home, should show both options. If not go to settings then applications then manage, select all, find browser abd clear defaults

If you decide to make one launcher permanent so you quit getting asked every time you hit the Home button there is a free app called Home Switcher that lets you easily switch back and forth.
When you try another launcher its a completely separate desktop and icon layout. Make sure you like the launcher before you invest the time to redo your desktop setup.
I'm using Go Launcher and I like 99% of its customization options. I also use Folder Organizer to make desktop folders for my apps. It has you choose different tags like Games, Utils, etc for your apps. Then with each new app you install, folder organizer will notify you so you can classify it and it will appear in the right folder(s). You can even nest folders.
Ok, new View owner... longtime lurker on the site.
I really like the Sense experience on this tablet, my phone is a rooted Nexus S4g with ICS. There- I have a few custom launchers which just add to the ICS experience rather than be a replacement- I'm using Nova currently.
Does no one have a custom ROM that modifies Sense to resize widgets to any size (this is really my main gripe... I want to widen Sense widgets in Honeycomb) As I don't think there's any way to hack another launcher use sense widgets.
Missing apps:
Flashlight
The genie widget that was on the sense4 port for the 3d. Was themed to match perfectly.
I would very much like these apps.
The keyboard.
Everytime I use something that brings up my keyboard, I get a select input method notification..won't go away??
Also, does anyone have issues with the xda app randomly freezing? It did this on the one x as well.
Thanks for any info

Someone posted the flashlight app but you should be able to find it in the HTC hub. Also, the keyboard input notification comes with ICS, as far as I know there's no way to disable it without some sort of mod but check your settings maybe it got added in =)
Thanks for the reply

Actually the HTC hub is different now? It used tobe an area just for HTC apps/plugins and now it seems like somewhat of an alternate market? I can't find any HTC widgets/apps?
In the hub goto applications - categories - HTC essentials

The HTChub on my EVO LTE does not allow me to go to Applications - Categories. When I click on "Applications" it loads a page with about 20 apps, all non-HTC, and doesn't give me any options for categories. When I go to Edit Tabs, it just lists one "Featured".
Anyone else have this issue? I really just want the flashlight app. I use it to much, It has always been a shortcut on my lockscreen.
Try downloading Quick Shortcut Maker from the Play Store. You will be able to find many apps HTC has hidden and make shortcuts to your home screen.

Yeah, that's really wacky. They must have changed it recently. You used to be able to get more apps that were from htc. Now it is stuck on just the featured apps and the htc flashlight is no longer in there.
I'm wondering what are some apps and mods to the TFP you can't live without, or increase it's use-a-ability. Just got mine back up, and besides watching movies on it, what are some other suggestions you guys have?
You finally received your LCD from China? Excellent!
Hopefully no issues in replacing - I know we've both posted much on that topic. (hopefully no dust, fingerprints, or debris on your LCD after re-assembly.)
Here's my short list of must-have apps:
Amazon Appstore (for obvious reasons)
WiFi Analyzer
MoboPlayer or MX Player
Netflix (very worth the low monthly subscription cost)
DropBox (worth signing up for -- 2GB is free -- no hassles, no unsolicited email from the DropBox folks)
Cheers,
-JG
Hmm, let's see:
BS Player (the best out there by a mile, trust me, download subtitles automatically, windowed player, works like a charm)
Total commander, with LAN plugin (duh)
XBMC (beta works great, no problems for me)
BitTorrent
Chrome (ofc)
Dropbox (got 50 gigs with Note II)

I'll post if i think of something else.

Friendcaster Pro (the best Facebook app)
Greader Pro
MightyText for Tablets
TW Cable
AdAway
ICS keyboard - the JB keyboard built into Androwook is glichy and ICS keyboard allows me to type my usual speed (home row)
GMD Gesture Control - multi touch gestures on such big screen are simply awesome and makes multi tasking and launching apps much faster (and you can turn off status bar to get more space)
Wallpaper Wizardrii - wallpaper stays in one place with default launcher so I can use favorite wallpapers from PC
AdAway - for obvious reasons
CIFS Manager - mounting windows shares, so any app see them as regular directories (you don't have to copy movies for example)
Chrome - currently best browser for tablets imo
PC Monitor - turning off PC remotely.
