Hello.
When my phone is plugged in into wall charger and I try to shut it down, it does a reboot instead of shutdown, just like if it was plugged in PC.
Another issue I've noticed, if it's shutdown and I plug it in wall charger it does not "boots" into the battery status screen, even if I press power button. Basically I no longer have access to "battery status" screen. (you know, it's when a huge battery with bubbling liquid inside displaying on screen)
Any tips how can I fix this? what is it related to, rom, recover, anything else?
Thank you.
What MOTO firmware are you running or ROM? That could be the issue there.

I'm using rooted stock 1.83. The bootloader is unlocked.
If it's related to rom itself, then it would make sense, besides that problem I'm getting frequent (at least once a day) reboots with no reason. I'd better just reinstall the rom then.
Thank you.

I'd say fresh reinstall and report back. Like wipe everything and then restore the phones apps through titanium backup. No restore through a recovery.

Hi all, first post in the xda forums for me
I recently unlocked my atrix, flashed Alien (build 3) and theme. Ive been experiencing pretty crummy battery life, so i wanted to go through all the steps here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16156636&postcount=705), but first running the battery down to 0 and charging to 100% while its off.
I ran the battery down til the phone shut off, then when I plug it in to the ac charger, the phone goes straight into recovery mode, and I dont have any indication of its charge, let alone when it reaches 100%. Is that normal?
I can't say for sure, but I think this just may be an issue with Ken's ROMs. I had the same thing happen on GingerBlur, GreyBlur, and his original 2.3 build. No such issue with every other ROM I've tried, though. You might just want to ask him directly.
What recovery opens?
If it is the boot trap of tenfar
(first recovery for locked atrix),
Then sounds kinda logic.
But I don't think it charges while in recovery.
Btw I have an unlockel recovery, and I the boot trap..
If I connect my phone t wall charge and manually restart, I will get that reco-ery too.
Anyone knows how to delete it using root explorer?

I have Tenfar's CWM installed, and that's what it boots into. Kind of annoying.
Maybe its an issue with Ken's ROMs, but I never tried this with Gingerblur, and this is my first Android phone.
I dont even manually restart it, once I plug it into the wall (while off) it starts right up and goes straight into the main page of Tenfar's CWM.
Yes when i was running tenfars cmr new version this did happen to me too but i installed the one from rom manager and did romracers atrix2update for it and have not ever had it happen again
And you have a few colors to chose from too i like the cyan one my version is v4.0.1.4-atrix2

right on, ill try that out, thanks!
I'm wondering if anyone is having trouble with their phone rebooting constantly? I recently changed recoveries to 5.5.0.4, and now my phone reboots constantly. Never had this problem with the buggy no off-charging CWM (although I had the worst time getting my phone to boot after the battery died ), and I don't think I've changed anything else (same ROM) since then except recovery, but I don't think it's from recovery.
This is how it started: I was playing Tiny Tower last night to drain my battery, so I could have a fresh charge. When it got around 3% life, it rebooted, and now it has been rebooting whenever I turn the screen on for a few minutes. I tried fixing permissions and reinstalling NRGZ stock kernel, but it's still rebooting.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Edit: Went ahead and wiped everything and re-installed Energy ROM, and it seemed to have fixed the problem, but it just rebooted again. Starting to think it's a hardware problem now.
Also just for clarification, it's not a full reboot (no HTC splash screen); it just goes back to the boot animation.
Update: I went into the bootloader and did a factory reset and then wiped everything from CWM again and reinstalled Energy. I have slowly been restoring apps fron Titanium Backup, and I think the reboots were being caused by RootDim (possibly reacting negatively with NRGZ button backlight tweak). I'm not 100% sure about this, but it didn't start until I used RD to completely turn off the button lights. Anyways, the reboots seemed to have stopped for now...
I had a similar problem happening after I installed RootDim, but I never really inquired about it so I just left it uninstalled.
However, I saw on the forums that people solved these types of constant rebooting issues by going into CWM recovery > advanced > fix permissions.
I never tried it, but I kind of wish you didn't factory reset and reflash so you could give it a shot and let us know if it solves the problem

I tried fix permissions, but it didn't work.
Are you sure you're flashing the kernel properly? Flash the ROM, then reboot the phone from recovery and let it boot before using the kernel flasher.
My buddy had a constant reboot issue (along with other issues) using that recovery when I tried rushing and flashing the kernel right after the ROM while still in recovery.

It was root dim that was causing the issue.

I used Morrislee's Mod init.post_boot.sh to just perm kill those lights

There are a few apps that have been noted to cause reboots. Unfortunately I heard Pandora was one of them. If you call T-Mobile tech they can give you short list of reboot app culprits.

Yeah I went back and pushed this to my phone. It works great!
Having same fake reboot prob too
I just bought an Amaze from Ebay and it is running Energy rom. Once a day, it goes to that boot up screen with the spinning rings. However it's not a full reboot like you said, it just freezes the phone then I have to take out the battery and restart it. I am not a developer, so I have to ask, what is root dim? Sounds like that might be my problem. How do I fix it?

Go to energy Rom thread in dev section and flash the stock kernel using the stock kernel flasher in post 4
Rootdim is an app...

Like GlacierGuy said, RootDim is an app that I was using to shut the capacitive button lights off, but it was causing my phone to reboot. It's been fine ever since I took it off.
I am using my HTC Aria right now as a security camera, but it seems to reboot every few days in this setup, not sure why. It's pretty stable otherwise so must be something to do with the camera software or something. Anyway.
Every time it reboots it gets stuck in Recovery until I tell it to reboot into the System, then it's fine.
I know this is a known issue, but is there a way to fix it? Newer CWM? Older CWM? Looked for TWRP, but don't see one for Liberty.
I was previously using the phone for a specific purpose, so it's remained unchanged for probably a year so not sure what exact recovery is on it right now. I saw something about Touch vs non-Touch, so I might look to see what it has and change it and I'll do some testing of my own, but just in case anyone knows (and is paying attention to this forum anymore.. heh) I figured I'd ask.
Thanks!
Sounds to me like running the camera all the time is draining the battery faster than it can charge, so it shuts off.
Then because it's plugged in, it goes into off-mode charging, but your recovery doesn't support off-mode charging so it just boots recovery normally.
Flashing a recovery with off-mode charging would fix that problem, but you would still have to turn it back on (unless I'm wrong about it dying.. have you checked to see if the battery goes down at all?)
Maybe a faster charger would help?
Nah, it actually stays at 100 while running, it appears to be just a random reboot happening. This phone has always landed in cwm when plugged in but never been a problem for me before.
Do you have a SIM card plugged in? For some people even an unprogrammed SIM solved the problem. But for me it didn't solve it until I lost my Aria

Nope, no sim, I use it in airplane mode with wifi. I really need to look around to see if my cwm has a newer version or something. Btw, it was never updated from att, it was on the original version (2.2?) until I put cm7.2 on it. So bootloader might be older, maybe I should look into that too.
I have a huge issue with my One. For literally no reason, my HTC One shut off while I was using it. It was running on the Viper ROM.
It turned off, and the battery icon came on. Then, it boots to recovery. It will do literally nothing but these actions. I tried a restore, RUU, fastboot flash of a ROM, installing another ROM, charging it, everything I can think of. I need a phone to use and this is a GIGANTIC issue! Can someone help me?
EDIT: Oh, and the touch screen isn't working either. Great!!!!!! Even worse!!!!!!!!!!
Try guru reset see if that works. For the touchscreen problem use an otg cable and a mouse to move around on the screen.

Hi there,
For a few days now I have been experiencing random reboots of my phone and I've always just thought that it was the ROM I was on (Omega) as I did not update it for a time (Not too long). Now the phone has decided to keep rebooting and I have installed a recovery of a stock ROM. It also won't turn on sometimes and when it does it just shows a picture of a battery when plugged into a charger. Sometimes it shows charge and sometimes it says there is no charge at all. It also turns itself off sometimes when plugged into a charger. I am not sure whether this is SDS? Any ideas to save my S3?
Cheers,
Jon

Try changing the battery. Confirmed to be working by some users.

Flash a full stock firmware with odin and factory reset, if still the same then it's hardware.

Have you even thought about it possibly being your battery? I've had problems with my battery in the past and just replacing it has fixed most issues.

Flashed a stock ROM, unrooted as well. Problems still occurred and now trying a factory reset. If that doesn't work then I will try a new battery. If all else fails it may have to go back to Samsung as I'm still under warranty.
You should have really tried replacing your battery before anything. It seems like that's the problem
