Wondering how I can fix market not showing app updates? Google+ was updated today and it didn't show up. I searched for it and an update was available. Usually, I clear data and then go to myapps to find updates but today it didn't show Google+ what gives? TIA

What CM version are you on? And what is your dpi?

Sent from my LG Optimus V using Tapatalk
CM7 Nightly 10/27/2011 DPI is set by it, I think 161.
161 is no good - 160 is now the default for market compatibility.
Rodney
You need to update to 7.1 stable or change your dpi.

But 10/27/2011 should already been set to 160 dpi, I think.

I think the change was made at nightly 200 or 201. I'm not sure about the date.

Nightly 200 09/23/11 made the change to qemu.sf.lcd_density=160
What market version? The new market has the ability to auto update all, I have seen the same behavior where an app wouldn't show in the "update available" under my apps but it would show "update" in the market pages. On another note has anyone else tried the Set DNS app, makes the loading time of market crazy fast.

I have one of the later nightlies after 7.1 so it is set at 160. Sorry. I installed the latest market. Part of my update issues are that, I had to switch accounts as two are loaded on my nook. Will see if I have issues with the newest market.

I have had this same problem with my Atrix when it ran stock. I'm pretty sure it is a market issue.

Noob alert. I have cm7.1.0, so that's good. For future reference how do I change dpi?

thanks! much appreciated.
why can't we see certain apps like this and Netflix on the app store?
If you where able to click the link, and the market displayed the application, then it means you probably overlooked it during your search. As for netflix the new update wouldn't show for me either.

By default, it will not show up because it needs fine-grained GPS.. which the Nook Color does not have.

No, you are not doing anything wrong. Google has chosen to enforce device requirements on the app, so now it won't list from the market on an unsupported device.
Accessing from the web browser, you'll see the following:
"This app is incompatible with your Bn NookColor" Note: if you renamed your device, it may not show the same device name, but it's the same result.
Same with Netflix and other apps you can't get on the device. However, if you'd downloaded the APK before this, you can still see it on your market. However, I've not received any new updates, so either no updates or it won't update if not available for the device in question.

I have G+ on both my Droid X and NC (I just made a backup of the .apk on the DX using "My Backup Pro" and moved it to the NC). I have not seen an update on my DX since 1.0.2, so I don't believe there has been an update in a couple weeks.
I updated the app a couple nights ago and now it wont open and load anything, it hangs and then force closes everytime. I've uninstallled and reinstalled and it will allow me to login and it will work fine right up until I close the app and reopen it.
Any thoughts?
Had the same problem. I ended up reverting to the previous version with a backup.
Crashes for me too. I also went to a backup. Not sure what is that last version to work. My backup was from a month ago.
Mine too on CM7 Nightly 177 booting off an SD card. Hopefully they can get it fixed.
Have you fixed permissions? It runs fine for me,not a fan of it but it works.

Seems like the app is crashing when it tries to find your location using the (non-existant) GPS. Is there some way to inject a fake GPS position?
Install tetherGPS lite and start the client, it spoofs the app into thinking there is a GPS signal. Recent check ins load fine with this fix.

Why would you post this?
As of nightly 212, there is no built-in ability to fake GPS. This was never any mention of that ability on any changelog, and it certainly wasn't sneaked in or anything.
Facebook still attempts to access GPS and force-closes as of nightly 212 / October 6th (I'm guessing it is an incorrect or simply unhandled exception. Facebook for both Android and iOS are famous for having terrible programmers).
A fake GPS program is still required to use Facebook.
The Facebook app goes from bad to worse. Uninstalled.
Is there any other fix that doesn't require me to start the gps client every time before wanting to use facebook? What is the latest version of facebook I can get that will function fine without a silly work around? 1.6.?
I keep getting "This app is incompatible with your Evo" from the Android Market website and the market app (3.1.5) just doesn't give me a download button or show me updates for newer versions of some apps. It was mostly just an annoyance for a while but now the latest Facebook update came out and it won't install. I'm running CM7.1RC1 which is Android 2.3.4, although I never recall having this problem until I updated to the latest Android Market.
I'm also wondering if there's any good way to troubleshoot why the market thinks my device is incompatible with a particular app (like some sort of reason ... android version too high, screen resolution, etc).
Solution: It turns out this is because I had modified my DPI to set it to 210 instead of 240. Once I set it back to 240 the market showed me 17 new updates. It looks like they're checking to make sure the DPI checks out ... bummer.
I installed CM7.1 nightly 202 and I was able to change my DPI and still use the market without problem. It seems there is a fix as of nightly 198 or so.
Some apps are incompatible because of variation in geographical regions... I think the one you are trying is not available for your region/country....
Thanks, but I'm in the US and that's not it. It works fine on the stock ROM, same phone. I'm looking for how to troubleshoot. Is there any way to see what the app restrictions are?

I don't think we would be able to see the app restrictions..only a developer can see it in the console..
if you're using any kind of density changer, it can cause "not compatible" issues.

Hm, I had edited my density in build.prop. I just changed it back to the default and that fixed it! Hallelujah! Thanks for the help.
Now, does anyone know of any way to have my cake and eat it too (that is keep my higher density and still get app updates by tricking the market somehow)?

Not gonna happen unless you can find a way for the market to detect a denisty setting other then what is in your build prop.
New updated Market (11/01/2011). It's being pushed to some handsets.
Download:
Android Market 3.3.11
What's changed?
+++New setting: Auto-update apps (presumably, sets all apps to auto-update mode, woohoo!)
+++New setting: Update over Wi-Fi only
+++New setting: Auto-add shortcuts (automatically adds homescreen shortcuts for new apps, ala Honeycomb)
+++Smaller font
+++New app drawer icon
+++Microphone (voice command) button in search menu
+++Star rating chart on app pages
+++Minor UI tweaks
sweet thank you!

I had the same problem and it was messing up a lot. Go to settings > applications > market > uninstall updates on whichever one will let you. Then I cleared data/cache for both and restarted. Back to only 1 market now- the old one, but I'm fine with that until it updates on its own.
Just goto new Market Settings -> Applications -> Market
Uninstall Updates
Thats it !!
Now u will have only one old version of market..

I just installed.
Worked very well.
But i still have 2 markets.
I think there will always be 2 markets if you install this because it's the handset (phone) version and we have the tablet version, so there's no way android knows to replace one with the other, and you can't delete the market apk without root.
is really better the 3.3.11 is a lot faster, and what about having two markets? just add a icon for the newest and just use that

yes, trying it for a while i discover that, but, today i got and update OTA, and guess my surprise having an android market 3.3.1.1 official!!!! and it works just fine
Yeah I noticed that too! Sweet!
Any way to get the previous Market widget?
With the new update I no longer see what changes have been made to updated apps. It used to display the info in the update section but now there are no change notes.
Does anyone have an APK of the old Android Market (with the lime green theme) that doesn't have all the ads on the apps homescreen? I have Sprint (obviously) and I live in a desolate corner of Nevada that doesn't have Sprint service (I know that sounds stupid...long story)...so I am perpetually roaming here and my data speeds are virtually non-existant, so when I'm not connected to Wifi the market takes FOREVER to fricken load...Also is there a way to make sure it doesn't update itself?
EDIT: Before anyone replies with a smartass comment I realize "Lojak29" posted an APK of "The Old Android Market" but this is still the newer version and not the one I'm looking for...thank you.

If your Android market is slow on 3G or wifi download "Set DNS" from the market (free) and change the DNS to Google's. I would apply it to wifi and 3G under settings in the app.

If you uninstall the market, it should revert to the version you want. Then to keep from updating, you must be rooted with Titanium Backup where you can freeze the app called Updater.
