Hello??? I'll post more in a bit.
Im getting one soon!! How do you like it so far?
Got mine today, too. Love it so far! Feels and looks great and it's lightning fast. I can share wifi at no extra charge and it is really fun to use. I don't really need anything from XDA right now so I will wait a week and come back to share my experience and possibly promote the phone if I feels it's worthy.
... now to find a freakin' case!
I am here always

The device itself is awesome. The screen is beautiful. Windows Phone is still meh. So many little things that are still missing despite Mango. Things that were in 6.5. Microsoft really pisses me off.

This is a great phone. Nice to have Office without purchasing a third party app. OneNote syncing is great. Looking forward to testing SharePoint integration. I am very impressed with the battery life so far. Charged it up Thursday night and unplugged it before going to bed. It's noon on Saturday and I still have about 1/5 of a charge. The only thing lacking right now is app support. Hopefully the platform will pick up a bit and start getting dev attention. IMO, this really the sweet spot between Android and iOS.

Off the top of my head
Turn a text message number into a contact easily
Turn an email address into a contact easily
Dial numbers get a list of names!!!
Real turn by turn NAV
Not sure if this was in 6.5 - device encryption of data
Probably more I've been drinking.
Why can't I push the wifi icon at the top and be taken to the wifi list of access points?

There is free app calls Connectivity Shortcuts and you can download on Marketplace for free then pin that app on your desktop
getting mine in next 2 days..
I am a MS developer and was using Android (SGS) since last 2 years and still love it.
I will be using this phone for App development.
So if any you guys want any specific app do let me know..will develop and put it here or marketplace...
There is an app called network dashboard that lets you pin the WiFi options to a live tile, but other than that luckily almost everytime you pull ot your phone and there isn't a known network in range it will give you a toast notification.

HTC Radar and $5.99 T Zones
Just killed my Touch Pro 2 today and saw a decent deal posted over on slickdeals =
I just ordered a HTC Radar for free ($18 activation and 2yr extension) as an existing t-mob cutomer (out of contract) via Microsoft WP store " phones.microsoftstore.CCOOMM " and I am hoping that I will be able to continue using my $5.99 T Zones. While ordering the phone, the menus allow you to choose to keep your existing plan and also keep your existing data, soooo,, we'll see!
Any info/help or experience regarding this would be appreciated - I will definitely post an update with my results. Cheers!
Possibly returning mine

Are you placing your finger anywhere near the flash or lens by accident? In my experience, that is generally the cause for what you are describing.
Just got my htc radar from MS store; love the screen quality havnt try out the voice n camera yet... One annoying thing is the leak light from the capacitive button.. Anyone having the same thing? It a sore eye..

As today is he official launch in the UK... who picked up already his device and what are the first impressions?
As said in my Q thread, I picked it up yesterday (despite most stores saying they couldn't sell it yet). I was the second person to get one from the big Phones4U in Leeds.
After palying with it all afternoon Yesterday and most of this morning (yeah I should be working!), I love it. It's soooo silky smooth. All my favourite games run perfectly, I've even tried the N64 emulator and it ran effortlessly.
The only niggles I have:
- There's no longer NFC (would have been nice to be future-proofed on that, even though I couldn't use it right now anyway)
- I miss my notification light, but obviously not enough to stop me buying this beast
- It doesn't have the shiny music player from the original Galaxy S
- The clock widgets don't bring up the alarm when you press them
- Oh and my apps didn't download when I synched my Google account, so I had a fun time last night manually putting them all back on.
As you can see, trivial stuff that isn't really important.
Ask me anything, I'll try and answer as often as I can, but I do need to get some work done (if I can find the motivation and pull myself away from this phone!)
Oh, one final thing. A quick battery comparison - My Desire HD, at this time of the morning (after I've been playing music and on the internet via 3G/H), would be down to around 50%. This is currently on 70% and I've been playing with it all morning. Just an initial observation, but a positive one.
your thoughts about the weight and the feel of the phone (esp. the back cover)?
I'm amazed at the weight, it feels like a dummy phone (compared to my DHD and old N1).
The build is nice and sturdy for a plastic phone, but the back cover is very thin - I'm scared I'll snap it every time I remove it. Fortunately I shouldn't need to go back in there now that I've stuck my SD in

will it work on ATT frequencies?
Did they lock down 850/1900 so American customers cannot use it?
when you press down on the back cover of the phone..did it creek or seems like its pressing down on pressure..making it feel like its a little loose/flimsy?
also did the phone run hot while using it for sometime?

They are saying in the future the NFC antenna will be in your sim card and there will be software in the phone that can link to that, so dont be too disheartened, you may get it after all, but just not how you expected

Can You run Tegra2-Games?
No creaking on the back cover, it's nice and tight. I can probably see it starting to give over time though.

Hi, congrats on your purchase! I had two brief questions.. can the dock be modified on the homescreen (can you choose which apps go on it), and some photos from other reviews it seemed like people got chargers with EU plugs, did yours come with a UK one? How the heck do you make the phone talk during nav?
I'm not sure I'm doing it right, but I think you need to tap the screen every time you want to hear directions. Which is retarded, because one uses a GPS when they don't know where they're going, and having to touch the phone every other minute is a safety hazard for driving...

Used it the other night while driving in the rain. It actually felt less distracting once I got it figured out.
You get your route, you have your phone somewhere where it is nearby, not necessarily in your line of sight. Double tap the screen, it tells you the next event. You get to the way-point, it chimes when you get it right. When you want the next instruction, tap the screen. There weren't persistent nags, no big goofy animations, just your buddy reading the map when you asked what was next.
By all means, if you are used to a talkative GPS, it ain't gonna do it for you, but it is more like having a co-pilot instead of a back seat driver.
There is no way Microsoft wants me to reach over and try and press my phone while driving in traffic.
Try turn by turn from the marketplace. Not too expensive and doesn't need lots of taps!
Well I can confirm you need a 3rd party app for turn by turn

Dumb comment... what about unsing Bing for navigation? I am a WM6.5 user looking at the Titan for my next phone and I was told Bing works fine with audio nav.
I use Bing on my Tilt2 all the time with no problems. Is it safe to assume it will work on the Titan too?

I love the Bing navigation! I've used it to guide me in London for completely unknown streets (not high streets or motorways!) - and yet it easily found where I was and got me to the point B!
However, as other users say, you have to tap if you want that lady to speak to you every now and again after each turn. If that is a big inconvenience to you, then you will need 3rd party apps. But if you want just occasional talk and spot on maps, I think Bing will suffice!
Garmin just released their turn by turn nav for WP7, as well. Might want to try that and see if you like it, too. Companies are finally waking up to WP7, which is good, since it has the highest click-through rate when people are investigating phone. That means more money for them potentially...
Navigon is a great app if you don't like the one that comes with the phone. If you wait it tends to go on sale for $25 instead of $49

You don't have to "press" anything. You just tap anywhere on the screen. I didn't have to take my eyes off the road.
I use gps tuner app which does fine until a better alternative comes along. I think its a few £ in the market. They have a couple of versions now. No tapping on the screen and it seems to use Bing maps.

I just got a Titan last weekend and the Garmin was one of the first apps I put on (29.99 US). It works as well as the stand alone Garmin I got my mom for Christmas last year. Well worth it (for me anyway).
I am disappointed Bing was not able to integrate turn by turn directions like Google Maps was. That is one Android has on all other platforms hands down (at least right this moment).
That and you can Pre-Cache parts of the map so you don't need to have active Data running constantly if you have a small Data plan like I do plus it's FREE. Also it's not that Bing (Microsoft) couldn't integrate Turn by Turn Directions, they just didn't. Makes you wonder what kind of kick backs they are getting from Garmin, TomTom, etc.
I have navigon offline and it was on sale when i got it. Latest update also allows you to just download certain states if you don't want 1.6gb taken up. also added weather.
I am NOT paying $30 for any mobile software... I'll just take one of my old phones with me. I really think that $30 is ridiculous for navigation...
I finally unlocked my titan and installed Nokia Drive, all of USA, for free. No live traffic, afaik, but meh, don't care.
I'm in the process of converting my topaz device into a dedicated gps anyway, since it can get free TMC
Heh, you also have one of those wm6.1 suckers, too, ?

basically my mother has developed a extremely terrible seizure disorder and needs eyes and ears on her even when she is just setting in the living room watching television. My father is there to be those eyes and ears but since that consumes most of his time he no longer gets to go to his upstairs workroom and build his radio controlled quadcopters which seems to be the only hobby he still has or enjoys so to speak. I'm looking to get some suggestions on a good app to view the camera of one android phone from another android phone so that either while he is up in the room he has the ability to see and hear her aeither at the touch of a button or widget. I'm searching for something somewhat parent friendly to set up (not to complicated) as all I can do is call and give him the name of it. if anyone has any suggestions on something that might fit the description of this situation please leave a reply with your opinion. thanks for anyone's time, Robert

I very much appreciate your reply as I feel this all I can do to help my parents out in there current situation. I am really hoping that the app works without a wifi network because they also do not have Internet from there ISP, they only have basic cable. I very much thank you for your reply and I'll definitely call my dad and tell him to try that app out. Thank you once again.
I told my father about the app and he attempted to set it up but said it wouldn't work without the licence, atleast on one of his phones. does anyone know of a similar app that might be easy to set up and doesn't require wifi home network? it can be paid or free, he just can't do in app purchases on his setup, but he can buy them outright if they happen to be paid and not free. thanks

It will almost be a year since I got this phone, and I have to say its going well! Love the hardware and even the Nokia exclusive apps (coming from a Samsung and HTC windows phone). Sure there have been times where I found small defects in the device, but still love it! My question is how are you guys liking your Lumia so far?

Very good atm coming from android this OS is refreshing and its simplicity and out of the box performance is good imo. Less fragmentation regarding updates compared to android devices where OEM`s decide which devices are updated and which not. Wouln`t choose for a Samsung or HTC WP though, i see the Lumia`s to Microsoft as the Nexus`s are to Google. So overall very happy and i hope MS and Nokia keep up the good work and the app developers will come automaticaly as the OS grows and becomes more and more significant :good:

I feel you Mine has also fallen (except on tile, lets just say that tile didn't do well ;P) . As for the Lumia's being Microsoft's "Nexus line" it's defiantly true! I wonder if MS taking over Nokia's Mobile division would have any impact in security Microsoft maybe less careful leaving Diagnostic tools and such on the phone than Nokia currently is! (More Exploits?).

Well I'm not currently "enjoying" it. It's out for repair for the fourth time now. After the second time I sent it back I received a refurb, which was all kinds of screwed up: bad soft keys lighting, screen burn-in in two spots, loose battery, and after a few days the earpiece started malfunction. I sent it the third time and it came back working, then it broke again. Now I really hope that they don't send me back the same unit, if that happens I won't even bother turning it on, and just keep using my "backup", the Ativ. I really hate the build and I'm not great fan of AMOLED but at least it works.

Just dropped my HTC One and thought I'd give the Lumia a try. I will say the Lumia 920 has a better camera, and that's a very meaningful claim considering how the HTC One was marketed as having such an innovative camera. The HTC One camera does have a few features no other camera can touch, but the Lumia has seriously better *dynamic range* which makes images look so much better, especially people's faces.
Otherwise, well, I'm sorry to say this, but: Windows Phone is great, just not "great enough". It is about as good as Android or iOS in terms of usability and not as good in terms of app store.
So, having owned both phones I would definitely say go with an HTC One unless the camera matters to you (or you have some kind of all-Microsoft work environment or other reasons why WP can be a totally obvious choice).

I'd get the One too if I was going android. But the windows phone does what I want on a daily basis beautifully. Better than ios or android. Which is : telephone, email, enterprise outlook calendar, SMS, photos, Netflix, Hulu, Turn by turn Navigation. Definitely miss YouTube but YouTube has gotten boring lately and I don't miss it anymore. I don't even visit it on my computer. Social media hub is awesome and the best thing for a busy professional.
PS: the people/contact hub is the best thing I have experienced, and the synchronization with your SkyDrive is awesome.
The one compelling reason for using the Windows phone is the messaging over Bluetooth. Best thing since sliced bread and for texting while driving. Suck it IOS and android. You have to experience it to appreciate this feature.
And while I am at it: Lockscreen with weather and calendar + glance clock.

Android has lockscreen weather and calendar. Moto X now has glance (they call it "active display"). But you are *absolutely right* about that bluetooth text-to-speech feature. I just discovered this the other day and was amazed. My car talks to me now and somehow knows exactly the right thing to do and I never had to set up anything other than pairing it. Indispensable. Huge benefit in terms of safety and convenience. It *may* be possible to get this in android somehow but it was already set up and ready to go in WP8. Why other platforms don't work harder on this I don't know.

Dat feel...phone feels like it's made of butter, it chips by looking at it, and the edges are getting dented as fuq, all of this just by laying in my cup holder. Can't wait to have my 920 back, the Ativ felt kinda ok at the beginning, but it got old real quick, like physically old, srs.
Hey guys, i am thinking of buying 920 and i was wondering about the sound in headphones? Are u happy with it? Or is it too quiet?
Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Essential Phone, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Essential Phone is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The release has been plagued with logistical and customer service problems, and the software still has more than its share of bugs to squash, but I love this phone and hope the company recovers from its early stumbles so they can keep pushing more refined versions of what's already stunning hardware. Very happy Essential owner here!
I love everything about the device... that being said, the signal it pulls is less than adequate for daily use. I had to switch back to my s8. T-Mobile service provider
I love this phone. I kind of had a buyers remorse when I first pulled the phone out of the box and it was due to the size of the phone and the fact it felt like I was going back in time to the iphone 4s days but when I compared the screen to my 6p its just as big. I know it says 5.7" but it truly feels like a 4" device. I noticed a few minor scratches to the ceramic coating and GG5 but disappears amongst the glowing beauty of the rest of the phone. The screen on this thing is a joy to look at. I always find myself using apps, etc just to get the full effect of the screen. Once they iron out the software issues this will be the phone to beat imo. It sets the bar. The iphone 8 is said to have a similar screen experience and hopefully more phones are to follow. But after owning this phone I will definitely keep it but I am even more excited for the PH-1.2.
Ps. Its funny to see people do a double take when they first notice the screen, "Is that the new iPhone" , my response is no its my "Ph-1". :silly:
I have had this phone all of 4 hrs and love it.

Strangely, the more I use it the more I enjoy it. I'm on TMobile and cell service is similar to my old so. I hope they add wifi calling
Its a step backwards from the S8+ (charging pad, no case available, better screen, image stabilization) but we'll see if my mind changes when the 360 camera arrives later this week.
Its slicker than snot and hard to hold on to without a case, maybe when I get the skin on it that will help....
The big plus is no curved screen, I absolutely hate that on Samsung phones.
I got mine Friday and since I don't have root, it took some time to manually set up things through ADB backup and restore. Some things I had to manually move over. That being said the phone is a work of art. The build quality is second to none.
I wish there were at least some basic cases available. I have a crude skin on the back and ordered a real skin.
I plan to get some acrylic or abs and make a case. I'll bend the plastic under heat and use a Dremel to get everything else aligned..

Each phone will get its negative reviews and positive ones too. All comes down to the owner if they love it or hate it. I love it. The software still has some bugs but hopefully it gets ironed out. Definitely not a smooth start for Essential as a new company rolling out a new phone. But i hope after what happen, they improve on it and the successor to this first phone is much better and the overall customer service much more smoother. The phone's camera app isn't perfect but i didn't think it was that horrible like some people on the internet said it was. Its okay...
Hope Android Oreo will roll out soon!!!!
Was going through airport security today and the TSA guy pulled me over. He said he saw the phone and liked it. He wanted to know if that was the new iPhone. Told him it's the brand new PH-1 wrapped in ceramic and titanium!

This is the funniest abuse of TSA power I've heard of in years.

I second that. As is VoLTE.
Had the phone for 24 hours and really enjoyed it. Picked it up from my jeans pocket about an hour ago and the phone has gone into a infinite boot loop. Seems to be the powerbutton or what's underneath it that is not willing to play along. Hardware in all its glory but of my over 50-60 phones I have gone through I have never encountered this problem this early on. Pretty ridiculous.
I really love this phone, I'm with T-Mobile and have no problems with signal, data, phone's calls. The touch screen is working properly, WiFi working perfect, no light bleeding effect like other people. To be honest I got my note 8 still unpackaged because this phone is really nice. I know a lot people got upset because the CS communication, but honestly this is a company that is in their infancy. We just have to give time for the company to mature enough to be competing with company's that got years in the business. Just my 2 cents.

Every day, I like this phone more and more. The latest camera update improved the pictures. They're still not great, but they're getting better. I've gotten better at being more precise with my taps, so the touch sensitivity isn't much of an issue. With updates I only see this phone getting better and better. Let's hope Essential gets their act together and stays on top of it. I've made my mind up that I'm keeping it. The look, feel, and build materials elevate this phone above any other model I would consider. Just going to keep my fingers crossed that development starts to happen, but even if it doesn't, I know I'm keeping the phone. That's saying a lot since I've been a flashaholic going back to the original Moto Razr days.
