Hi all.
I'm having a problem on my phone whereby the default home screen seems to lose itself after every time my phone goes into lock.
Specs are:
CHECKROM Revolution 1.0
GoLauncher Ex (my choice)
TW 4.5 Launcher
It was working previously with the same as above, and I thought it was the latest update to GoLauncher, but rolling back to a previous APK doesn't work either.

Hmm ...
... could be a GoLauncher Ex issue.
Did you search in the corresponding thread for any solution or similar issues?
Alternatively you can use another launcher like Nemus Launcher app from the Market.

Ok. Try this.
If you don't have titanium backup installed, download it from the market.
When it first opens, at the top in the middle you will see 'backup/restore'. Go into that and select your desired launcher then hit 'wipe data'. Keep in mind you will lose all your widget/launcher setting.
What is weird is that you would think it does the same thing as doing it from settings/application, but it doesn't. The titanium trick has saved me heaps of times when all else has failed.
Also, are you sure it is set as your default or are you just launching it from say 'home switcher' without clearing the old default and setting the new?

A week or so ago I posted a thread on my phone lagging in and out of the text app. I decided to try go sms. It seemed to be better but not completely gone. Also Ive noticed that when I would go into my contacts and select one the name would pop up but not have any info. I switched to Go contacts and the problem went away. So i thought id give GO launcher a try. WOW is all can say. Id been a LP guy for a long time. This blows it away. My phone actually feels like it got supercharged. if your thinking about trying a new launcher give Go a go!!

I've tried it and got the most part I thought it was nice. The only issues I didn't like was the slower opening transition when using the app drawer and the setup of the app drawer. Other than that, I thought it packed a lot of features.

Hmmm. I thought the opening speed was pretty fast. Plus I like the windmill setting when opening and closing the app drawer.

Im using LP right now, but i admit that i like Go Launcher more...its justs that mosts of the themes are designed for LP these days...anyone can point me to some goods Go Launcher themes?
It's the Best Launcher I've used so far. Sticked with it from Bionix 1.3.1
Okay, so this isn't the worst launcher I've used, I can think of ones I hate more. But I do have an issue with it. My home screen always winds up all weird, or everything disapears off of it after a reboot. The other pages are fine and retain their apps and such just fine. So I can't figure it out. Anyone else have any issues? Yes, I'm rooted, unlocked, running Joker Skinny ROM version 0 (Haven't had time to upgrade yet) with the 1.3 ghz kernel for now.
That sounds really weird. I haven't had any issues with go launcher except that some times i want to go to landscape mode and it won't...but i think that's just my settings...it ain't for everyone, but try uninstalling ,wiping cache/ dalvik before trying to reinstall?

I am rooted and running stock ROM. I performed a factory data reset, removed the battery and all went well. My widgets started loading perfectly. Widget Locker loaded perfectly. It was like nothing was wrong. I know it sounds very simple but it worked for me. Qbking77 pm me back and he said that he experienced some issues with GO Launcher as well.

Go launcher ex sucks. For me. I have the same issue....plus its laggy as he'll from time to time. Especially after unlick the phone from the lock screen.

Been noticing the same issue actually. After unlocking it lags. I am probably gonna uninstall and try wiping and see what happens.

I'm gonna try Launcher Pro and see if I like it better...and as it turns out, there are some trade offs it seems:
1) Max 7 homescreens - You can get 18 in Go Launcher EX (9 screens x 2 sets) I think, but I've never gone past 8
2) Can't uninstall from homescreen - You can do this in Go Launcher
3) Can't change icon/name of app in homescreen - You can do this in Go Launcher
4) Less screen to screen animations available - There are about a dozen in Go Launcher
5) Faster than Go Launcher - Though still laggy straight off of lock/screen off
6) 3D app drawer is a nice touch - I almost prefer the side scrolling pages
7) Doesn't seem glitchy - Widgets and apps sometimes would have to be replaced on homescreen in Go Launcher
8) Can't drop multiple apps onto homescreen - Go Launcher can...
I guess if you're all about customizing, Go Launcher might be the way to go...but performance-wise Launcher Pro seems a bit better.

Wow! I can't believe the problems you're having. I've never experienced any of those. I agree with ktt16 on the universal suggestion. Also delete any widgets created during setup so you start with any empty desktop.

I'm running cybiks CM7 port and I'm using go launcher ex with no problems. I think I did have an issue once while on stock but go launcher got updated and had no problems since. I do know that go launcher had a good update cycle so I wouldn't be surprised if your issue gets fixed in the next app update.

In launcher pro, you can uninstall stuff from the home screen if you hold it over the trash can for a second or two.

You get one from the market, either paid or free. Some examples... go launcher, adw launcher. Once installed, press the home button and you get two options.. Tw launcher or the one you just installed, make the one you installed default.
Then that's it. Though you might want to disable the tw launcher from an app like titanium backup.

Thank you for taking my question. Maybe it didn't came out right. What I meant to ask was that once I have a few launchers on my phone how do I switch from on to another?

Oh I see now. Once you pick a launcher to launch by default I don't know how to get that little pop up back... but.. I know that when a launcher updates you get that little pop up back. It happened to my dad, he was stuck like that for a day when it updated automatically on him, I had to set his launcher to a default again.
dunno if you're up for re-installing one?? or putting another one to get that little pop up back?

Go into Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, select the launcher you are currently using then select the Clear Defaults button. You shoud get prompted to select a launcher when you press the home button.
Download the App homeswitcher if you want to have and use multiple Launchers. You can easily switch between ADW, LPP, ADW Ex, and other stuff on the fly.
try downloading home switcher for froyo, ive been using it forever and it still works
Apex Launcher seems to reload/redraw far too often whenever returning to the home screen. Can I make it persistnant or lock it into memory? (Preferably without using V6 supercharger)

Did you clear defult tw launcher?....I'm using adwex make aure its defult..and stop or freeze home launcher shouldn't have any issues after that..
Thanks for the response. Yes, default is cleared and TW Launcher is frozen. I'm only using Apex. I'll return to the home screen via the home button and my widgets take a few seconds to reload and the app drawer has to load as well. I was hoping there was a way to just keep it locked in memory.

You can always try a different launcher, I hear good things about nova, but I enjoy trebuchet. In my time, it has been the fastest launcher for me

If you are familiar with build prop tweaks this will lock it in...
ro.home_app_adj=1 -*Forces the launcher to stay in memory. This could slow down the front app, but allow for quicker app switching.

Negative... I have this and it doesn't do anything with apex launcher. It still constantly redraws

I have had a bit of luck actually with using the bulletproof apps option in the V6 script. Once installed, run the bulletproof option and enter "anddoes" which is what apex is listed as then hit enter. It works on GB and on ICS but you have to go into to the data directory in script manager (assuming you have browse as root selected in config) and have the bulletproof script run on boot. So far (unless it's placebo lol) I have seen an improvement. I hope this helps other out!

That will or should work too....lol...did you get the new version of v6 supercharger? There is a newer one made on the 10th...just in case you weren't aware....seems to be working so far for me :thumbup:
I'm not quite sure if I have the most up-to-date version but I'm using update 9 RC 8.1. So far it does the trick but I'll see if there is a more current one. Thanks for the heads up!

Arrgggh! Someone please help, as this is driving me nuts. I have set ADW EX as my default using Homeswitcher, but every time I press the home button, the evil TW is back.
It must be simple, but I'm missing it. Any help appreciated
first you need root and 2nd you need some kind of root explorer. then navigate to system/app choose seclauncher2 and rename it to seclauncher2.apk.bak. but keep you other launcher active.
or i think you can go to settings/apps and try to deactivate it but not sure if thats gonna work, that does not work with all apps

Search for touchwhiz
Select
Then clear defaults
Press home key
Chose add as default
And boom

I have used Android since Cupcake on the HTC Dream/G1. I have used non-stock launchers for 2+ years. Trust me, this was different.
Normally, I install the new launcher, press home and then get asked which to use and set by default using the tick box. That should be it, but TW kept coming back as default. Even using home switcher, which has never failed me.

this genrally happens with the launchers present in market
suppose u downloaded go launcher n installed
now the next time u hit home button pop up will be there to chose your fav default launcher go . adw. tw whatever it is
and u chose tw
now when ever u will click on the adw launcher icon in ur drawer it will the icons and stuff to adw like
but when u again click home key
it will take u back to default launcher and that was tw as selected

That's odd, as I have a Galaxy Note too, and that behaviour doesn't happen, even on ICS. Only the S3 confused me :-D
I have no issues using apex launcher on the s3, same as it has been for every other android version, maybe its an issue with the specific launchers you are using.
