[Q] People App from ICS? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone,
just wanted to ask if someone already ported or extracted the people app from ICS for any other devies? I'd love to have this on my CM7 Galaxy S, since the default dialer/adressbook simply sucks.
Ty, bye,

Qibproud just wondering, has @aliasxerog or any other CM dev recieved an atrix already? thanks! looking forward to the imminent port!
A13xploited should be end of this week or start of next week, but it's all happening. There are others on xda that are looking to port.

Qcyanogen They've got the bootloader unlocked for the Atrix now. Any chance we'll get official support soon?
Alifelessraptor probably soon!
Thats all i know for the moment, maybe someone is faster then cyanogen to port it but we will get an official version. I dont know something about other roms but i really dont care about it,cyanogen is my only love. but a rom just for the atrix could be nice, something like darkys rom for galaxy s devices

It turned my slow Aria into a superphone. Incredible support, nightly updates, every feature you could want, very stable. It's how android should be.
I'm looking forward to some cm7 on atrix
Dorian is working on 2.3.5 rom noticed he commented on that in his rom thread
I also noticed the source code was released so hopefully the devs can get it "De-Blured". I would love to run Stock GB. I almost traded my Atrix for a Nexus S until I saw that, now I'm waiting (im)patiently.

Back when they still supported the G1, it kept my old hardware running newer os than some new android phones. Great features and nightly builds. Always up to date and best performance.
Got it on my nook color now haha. Can't wait for it on the atrix.

[Q] My new Samsung galaxy S2 SGH-I777

Hello all
First of all im not good english because my main language is italian anyway:
Im new i receiv this phone for a fews weeks ago my father gave me as gift from china.
Im using cyanogen mod 7 and i have kernel like 2.6.35.7-gedb93be [email protected] #1
The question is this: How i can update firmware automatic without doing so complicate and easy way to do??
I heard most people use SGH-I9100 and update with program Samsung Kies easy.
Well for this SGH-I777 cannot use kies and doesnt work either.
Any suggestion? Maybe a nice alternative for update in future?
Hope this information help a bit
Thank for support!
Alan
I'm pretty sure that's only possible if you have rom manager pro ...sort of , I'm pretty sure if you want to update you have to download and flash the update
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Kies + cm7 would never work anyway. Cm7 is an aosp rom and kies only works with Samsung builds.
Sent from my HTC PH39100
If you are trying to update CM7 to newer builds you can use rom manager paid app and have access to it. OR you can also download the newer CM7 updates from here http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=galaxys2att
If you are wanting to upgrade the stock samsung firmware then you will need to go back to stock samsung rom for kies to work I think.

Thanks for all guys i paid premium rom manager and there seems all ok!
Remain only a problem about NFC when i go setting wireless + NFC its show me grey out why? doesnt work?
NFC is not enabled yet on the AT&T version of this phone. Some developers have made progress in getting the phone to recognize the NFC chip, but no one has been able to enable full functionality of NFC.
Oh so i have to wait for next update version cyanogen mod for fix this problem? I hope so because need a lot nfc :s! thanks for quick reply u guys are great
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
Right now, NFC working in CM7 is still quite a ways away... I have only succeeded in partial functionality with official Samsung firmware.
The problem is that the AOSP/CM7 Nfc.apk does NOT like our stock device's JNI libraries (crashfest) - but using the Nexus S JNI libs causes the behavior you describe.
Aosp? Ehm well im a noob lol i dont understand at all about technology especial telephone instead computer antway i try to learn as quick as i can :/

Learning
I hear you, man. After the last few years with iPhones, I am learning a ton since coming here.
AOSP is Android Open Source Project. It is often used to mean plain android without any 3rd party changes like HTC sense or Samsung TouchWiz.
Cyanogen builds their ROMs straight from AOSP. Other devs start with already modified versions. For example UnNamed and Serindipity are built off of the Samsung modified android that came on our phones.

Lol now understand clear thank a lot! Too bad that i couldnt use nfc right now....i wonderf when can be able to enable? :S any clues?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
Rule number one of Cyanogen Mod is do not ask for dates. I would say that applies here too. Even if the devs can get NFC to work it is very unlikely we will be able to use google wallet, which is the big draw for a lot of people.

I knew some of what you were talking about, but I am a little unclear about the link between AOSP and stock Android. They don't actually put out anything that is usable by average consumers, right? Their output is solely for the dev community?

My New rooted phone
Hello, I am a newbie to this whole rooting thing. I just had my phone rooted with UnNamed ROM v2.2.1 so far the phone has been really fast and smooth. Its a nice clean setup. The big question is, now what? What should be my next step? Nothing big since I`m still learning. Maybe a theme? I not sure. Thanks for any input. Have a great night.
Do whatever you feel like doing, or leave it as it is if it works for you. That's the beauty of Android, you always have choices. Enjoy your phone, it's a beast.

[Q] Froyo/CM6?

Hello XDA!
I was curious if it's possible for there to be a 2.2 based build off of AOSP.
-I prefer the look and feel of froyo over gingerbread and ics (call me crazy)
-I have noticed another thread about donut but froyo is much more recent than 1.6
-This could be impossible
--I probably sound like a typical 15 year old
Any replies would be helpful!
Thankyou!

Since froyo was never on this phone that would probably be pretty difficult, you could always use a more recent cm7 build and find the theme called retrodroid it will make it look like 2.2

Yeah I am aware of RetroDroid and I just dont think it provides a complete feel of froyo.
I was wondering if its possible to take all the changes and modifications from cm7 and just compile for cm6
I don't understand... your gonna take the best selling android smartphone ever made and dumb it down....
No one is going to do this for free... if you want it you got to do yourself or throw out a serious bounty for someone else to do it...

You're weird. Android 2.2 is deprecated for a reason.
Lol damn haha yer not weird man. Most people tho don't feel the same way u do. I like the look of froyo too

I'm chill. Nothing about my post shows anger. Just confusion
There are a handful of people that can probably do it in this forum.. just nobody will. Easiest thing would be to smali edit gb to have same look and menu layout. You would have to resize a bunch of stuff. You should try the online kitchen to make a theme then smali edit the files.

Ok Thankyou! That's the kind of answer I was looking for! Not that I know what smali is but hey, as long as I have google and Odin ill be fine!
I do believe Froyo doesnt support dual core processor phones, so it would be a feat if anyone was able to do it. I really honestly recommend just themeing it to look like Froyo over anything. The APIs for certain apps are also present in 2.3+ so I'd honestly say just to stick with that.

Compatibily 2.3 programmed apk with 4.0/4.1?

Just a quick question I couldn't solve on myself, nor googling around. I'm starting to program on android, following your great tutorials [btw always great work guys ] and I was wondering: If I start programming an app for gingerbread, will it work on ICS or JB too or not? Cause I'd really like to see my first hello world on my gnex thanks in advance!
Well, I answer to myself xD I did it and my 2.3.3 hello world works on my 4.1 gnex. So that's okay. You can close the topic if you like.
