[Q] Flashed UnNamed 1.1.0, SD Card Total Space Unavailable? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Just flashed UnNamed 1.1.0 with CWM and everything seems to be working fine except I'm not seeing my 32GB SD Card. Some apps that were installed to it are grayed out and when I go to storage it says
SD Card
Total Space
Unavailable
Available Space
Unavailable
USB Storage
Total Space
Unavailable
Available Space
Unavailable
When Market place tries to download apps it fails saying not enough space available. I am however able to view the contents of the sd card through my computer.
**Found the Problem** When I disconnected the USB to my computer the space showed up correctly.
New problem - Some applications show up as not installed in Market place but when I go to them it only lets me open them. Is there a way to sync those apps up with what's really installed?

clear market data in settings, or a reboot will sometimes get the apps to show back up in the market.

Fixed. Thanks

Internal sd or external sd?

Hi to everyone,
I have 16 GB version of sgs 2 and it shows I have 11.5 GB free space as internal and 8GB free space as external and it is ok for me. What I dont understand is when I download apps from Google Play does it install to internal sd ? ( 11.5 GB ) because when I looked at storage usage my space becoming less from rom side which I have 1.2 GB free space. How can I install all apps to internal sd ?
thanks for your help
When you download an app from Google Play, it will go to your internal storage. If you want, you can move it to your internal SD card by settings-apps-all-yourApp-move to SD (simplest way).
If you want to move it to the external sd card, use apps such as Link2Sd (on market), which needs root access.

Actually what I want is to use internal SD because I have 16 gb free and I dont want to install apps to my external sd card because when I unplug it I wont have chance to use apps since it is installed sd card beyond of it I wanna use my sd card just for my photos and some musics. So should I take a rest if it will install apps directly to internal sd?
edit : what is the reason that when I install apps total space 1.97 gb decreases? if I am installing apps to internal storage where it has 11.5 gb ?
Storage available for applications
Hi all,
I have an Sii gt-i9100g running ICS 4.03 (non-rooted).
Recently I've been getting an error when applications try to update: "Application cannot be installed in the default install location".
So I checked my phone storage.
phone memory: 1.97Gb
Applications: 647mb
Free: 247mb
USB storage has about 10.5Gb available.
I uninstalled a few applications I didn't need on a regular basis and then the phone was able to update the installed applications successfully.
I went in to application management and there's no option to move the installed applications to USB storage (I don't have an external SD card)
So this raises a few concerns:
1: How come there's a mystery 1.1 gigabytes that isn't accounted for in the phone storage? I thought all of Android ICS was stored in that missing 4GB of USB storage memory...
2: If the phone doesn't allow further installations to phone memory when there's only about 200mb available, and if the phone has reserved 1.1 gigabytes for some hidden purpose, then is it true that without buying an SD card, we only really have about 700MB available for applications?!
3: Why isn't the option to move applications to USB storage available under ICS? I believe this was available in Gingerbread.
Anyway I could be wrong with all of this, I'm new to the SII, but if its the case that this supposedly 16GB device only truly has 700MB available for apps without an External SD card, then I'm gonna be pretty angry.
This is from another forum and same problem like mine

Let me explain somethings you guys have failed to understand (the beginner's way):
1.Your galaxy SII has 16Gig of inbuilt memory
2. the 16G was partitioned by Samsung into 2.
3. First partition is for System (1.97Gig), while the second partition is for Storage (11.49Gig).
4. Apps are installed by default into the System (reserved) partition (1.97)
5. System partition contains preinstalled system apps and media content + the apps you installed.
- therefore, even if you are just opening your phone for the first time, some part of the 1.97Gig will be used up significantly
6. When you connect your phone to PC, only your Second partition (11.49G), is mounted so that you can transfer files to your phone. That's why this storage is often referred to as Internal SD.
7. Apps are installed on the System partition by default for faster loading.
8. Even though apps are installed by default on the system (reserved) partition, some of the apps can also be moved to the internal SD.
This can be achieved in two ways:
a) without installing app:
- Goto Settings > Apps > select app of your choice, especially the big ones, > Select Move to SD card
b)with third-party apps:
Apps like titanium backup, app2SD etc can move any app to your SD.
Note:
1. Moving Launchers and Widgets to SD will break their function, so do not do this
2. this process can be necessary when you run out of space on System (reserved) partition.
9. Your MicroSD card is referred to as External SD
If you have more questions, let me know

Thanks for detailed explanations but What if I dont have an external minisd card and I want to use 11.5 gb of internal sd ? For example HTC One X has built in 32 gb space and it doesnt have any sd card slot right? so they use internal sd for everything like in iphone ?
I found a topic at xda to change usage like this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846115
can you look at this ?

1. The HTC will still have a system reserved partition.
2. Yes, you can use the internal SD.
check my previous post, I'd already explained how to move apps to Sd (internal)
If you understand ADB, you can install apps directly to SD card, but that's a little advance
this app (free) makes moving Application to SD very easy

I dont have it and I wanna use internal 11 GB free space as sd card.to install all apps however when I install apps it doesnt use 16gb part it uses 2 GB rom side and now I have 600Mb free space although I can use 11GB. Hi Jokesy,
I've got a problem.
After I moved some apps to SD Card (using Link2SD or Titanium Backup), they are gone from home screen, app drawer list, and even in the list of installed apps they still missing. However, the files are still in disk but for some reasons, the OS cant detect them.
They only came back (to home screen and app drawer) after I perform Hot Boot.
Could you please explain why that was happening?
And how to avoid that problem?
I am using 4.1.2 Wanamlite XWLSW and stock kernel.
Thanks,

Which launcher/homescreen launcher are you using?
Instead of hot boot, just go to options and restart your homescreen launcher if it's supported.

hmmm, I'm using TouchWiz Launcher. I dont think it was caused by launcher, because I checked my application list in Titanium Backup when I rebooted normally, the missing apps were listed as uninstalled.
For some reasons, apps that moved to SD Card, only installed (or loaded) if I reboot using Hot Boot

That's weird. Try moving the apps to SD using Titanium backup, also try another launcher e.g Holo or Nova launcher and see what happens.

I tried using Link2SD and Titanium Backup, but after reboot normally, they are still gone. I tried Smart Launcher, but they stil didnt appear. Because they were listed as uninstalled. The files are there, but the system doesnt load them. Must still do hot reboot first before the system loads them.
I guess I'll take 1 example for disappearing app, this information taken from Link2SD (after Hot Boot):
Temple Run 2 Version 1.2.1 (on SD Card)

What actually Hot Boot does and normal reboot does not?

[HELP] Internal ROM memory dead?

[SOLVED] SEE POST #3
Hello
I've been flashing AOSP lately and my phone recently wont recognize the internal SD card/ROM memory. It says file system unsupported and it wants me to format the external one when that is not really the case. I remove my external SD card and I still cant use the camera, take screenshots, see keyboard predictions or even create folders in the card.
I pull up storage settings and the total internal storage space is 2.12GB (when its supposed to be ~9 gigs). The apps menu displays 0.00B on the "On SD card" tab.
Here's a detailed description of app issues:
*Camera/Gallery- Pulls NO storage alert saying "No external storage available" "Insert an SD card before using the camera".
*Screenshots- "Couldn't capture screenshot". on notifications bar.
*Swiftkey predictions- "Predictions not available. Check SD card."
*Google music- Doesn't pull up the thumbnails of the albums.
I know all this suggests the external SD card is screwed, but I can read/write anything in it.

i have the same issue since i tried updating my radios today. i use CM10.1 daily but i flashed to fresh evo lte to update radio and now i have no internal storage and it wont recognize it anyway to roll back the radio? is this a fix even? hboot 1.15 radio 1.05.11.0606 s-on. adb/fastboot not working.
edit: just discovered my 12 remaining GB that are not showing up are formated as (F: ) which seems like this is the problem. OP when you connect to your computer what does it show?

Thanks for the reply. I'll check it out and let you know.
Edit: I connected the device to my computer and it didn't show up below My computer or pop up any USB storage device, it only made the sound of something connecting. Then I rebooted to recovery (I'm using latest TWRP), mounted internal and still wouldn't show up. I entered devices and printers, right clicked the device and it was showing as H:, hovered to the open storage option, formatted and walla! Why didn't I ever think of connecting it to my computer...

Insufficient storage help

Hey everyone I'm getting the insufficient storage error when I try to download things from the Google Play store on one of my phones and every solution I have found will not fix it. My preferred install location is external SD, storage location is external SD, when I check in the ADB connecting my phone to the comp is says my storage is set to external. I have tried clearing the cache didn't work either. My internal memory only has about 100mb free but my external has 30gb free, I made sure all apps that could be moved where on the external SD card too. Weird thing is it only happens on the Google Play store, it does not happen on the Amazon store at all, even like 500mb apps download and install on exernal SD just fine. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Moto E Lineage 14.1 issues

Hello Moto E users,
I have a first generation Moto E. Today, I decided to flash Lineage OS 14.1. It worked smoothly, but I saw some serious issues:
1. Root not detected:
- Installed Super SU from Play Store and it doesn't detect root.
-Flashed Super SU from LineageOs website and Super SU did not get installed.
Apparently, you don't need the Super Su app, all you need to do is flash the zip and enable root in developer options.
2. Memory card not detected in PC:
One of the regions that I upgraded to 7.1 was because of the low internal memory. After I formatted my SD card, it says total 18 gb in settings. But, when I connect it to PC, only pure internal memory is shown i.e. 2 GB. I cannot copy my backed up songs, pics and videos to SD card from PC.
3. Moving apps from internal to SD card or vice versa doesn't work
It says not enough space for the smallest apps even if there is more than enough space.
This can be solved by enabling Force apps move to external SD card settings on developer option and after enabling it, just uninstall the app which don't move and reinstall it from play store . The app now automatically installed on external storage .
4. Apps not working under certain conditions
When install LineageOS for the first time, we get a setup Lexar SD option. If we decide to use it as internal storage, we get two options:
i. Move Now (around 500mb will be freed)
ii. Move Later
Choosing move now will free space in internal card but any apps installed in external will not work. Choosing move later fixes it.

1. Did you enable "Root access" in Developer options after flashing Lineage's su? It didn't come with any Super SU when I flashed it. Instead I used ES File Explorer, which has some good root-related options (uninstall system apps, startup manager etc).
2. I have used my SD Card in both ways (as media storage and as an Internal Storage adjacent) and I only could see the SD Card on the PC after going to Dev Options>Networking>Select USB Configuration, then selecting 'Charging' and then changing back to 'MTP'.
3.~~
4. I think that if you use your SD Card as internal storage, then your apps are installed in it since it's the only option (your SD Card becomes part of the Internal Storage). I had a tense afternoon trying to get Gallery to work well, it kept on saying "no external storage available", and only after chosing the SD Card as internal storage Gallery and some other apps started working properly.
My personal opinion: Android 7 will not have an option for external storage, and the fact that moto E has the option to run a SD Card as ext storage may be bugging the system.
I'm really no specialist, I have only been using this ROM for a day or two.

Thanks a bunch for the tips!!!
1. Yes, I figured that one out. However, I have moved on from ES due to excessive stuff and ads in it.
2. Ok I found out the possible solution. In order for the USB storage to appear in PC when it is formatted as internal, I have to migrate data from internal memory to SD card. However, as mentioned above in Step 4, doing so will make the apps installed in external not usable at all. They just wont open. So for them to work, I have to migrate data to internal again. Pain in the a** if you ask me.
I don't have a card reader right now, but I'll probably attempt the good old Link2Sd again. Hope it gets fixed soon.
Hi all. I have installed LOS 14.1 on my XT1021 Moto E (Condor). Everything is working fine except for GPS. It doesn't switch on at all, except sometimes after many reboots and some cache wiping. Any idea? Thanks.

How much internal storage space is available after installing lineage os on moto e xt1022 ?

Problems with SD card

Howdy,
I had an sd card working fine in the Swift 2 but it suddenly stopped working and couldn't be read by a PC either. I have therefore bought a new one but I can't get it working right in the Swift.
The phone recognises when I put the card in so it's not broken. I can format it okay and I can tell Android to use it as External (for storing photos or music) or as Internal (for apps etc) but whatever I do it does not seem to work. I cannot download any large apps as I get a message asking me insert an sd card and if I try to use the camera or gallery I get a similar message "No external storage available".
Looking in the settings for Storage & USB I can see Android clearly recognises the card but no apps will use it. Is there another step to the set up I'm missing or something?
Thanks for your help.
