Solution to problems of performance, stability and performance, running Minicm7. - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

IMPORTANT GUIDE FOR THE SOLUTION TO PERFORMANCE, STABILITY AND PERFORMANCE, RUNNING MINICM7.
using MiniCM7 by nobodyAtall
before commenting or asking about, lags, slowness or anything else, try theses steps, they could really solve all that
1 - Latest 2.1.1.A.0.6/2.1.1.C.0.0 SE firmware / Baseband: 53,404,015 M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-
(you should know that since you read miniCM7 thread's first post )
[*]2-Having the unlocked bootloader
3 - download the all in one package (ROM+kernel) by nobodyatall
4 - Backup all files of your micro sd on the PC, because it will be formatted to perform the installation.
[*]5- format your microSD (using the phone option OR sd card formatter which is better than windows's formatter)
6 - Enter flash mode, and proceed to flash the last nAa kernel (nAa06 for miniCM7-2.1.5).
7 - Disconnect the PC mobile phones and switch it on. As nAa logo appears, repeatedly press the Back button to enter recovery mode.
- Then we enter the recovery mode, connect your phone to your pc, and CWM options, we look in advanced options, mounting usb.
- Pc, we detect the micro sd in our mobile, we proceed to format it, then copy the zip file renamed to update, and google apps.
--> theses two steps are in case you couldn't format before
8 - Disconnect the PC mobile phones, we enter the initial menu of CWM,
- Select 'Backup and Restore -> Backup'
- Select 'wipe data / factory reset' (Suggested)
- Select 'apply update from sdcard'
- Flash GAPPS
Reboot (The first boot will take approximately 3 minutes)
9 - After installing the rom, no clean junk files, previous rom conflict with minicm7 performance, and we have no real work of our mobile,
10 - Proceed to copy all the files used by the user, just music, videos, apps, but no rom folder or file above (android_secure ...) , after performing this step, restart the phone, and go.
11 - We now have our minicm7 running, fast, stable and with impressive performances.

Because the wonderful work and FreeXperia Nobodyatall is phenomenal in every update, it is great.
Greetings Matmut if you want to add this guide to the FAQ, I'd appreciate it, be of good help.
I hope it was of good help these instructions, if you believe it was a great help to press the THANKS button.
This is a contribution to the advancement of our Minis.

This doesn't really make sense...what exactly do you mean?
Copy the music, videos, and apk files to another folder, format the SD card, and put them back in, and then reboot??...aren't there files in the SD card that the Operating system uses?

friend trying to say in this step is that the above files we had in the micro sd, we'll go back to SD after installing the rom, but we will not overwrite the folders you create the system in the first start micro sd, Greetings
hopefully they will clarify the question,
for example. androidsecure, and other system folders, because the old files with the current mix and produce slow down the system therefore does not work 100%.
and the files are cached, images, lists, and others, I invite you to try this guide, and you will have good results.

configuration
I use the following configuration, and the truth that goes very well on my phone,
compcahe off
governor interactivex
not undervolt
overclok not
jit enabled
turned home in memory
sms in memory activated
stack size of 32 m

greetings remember that we are to improve our minis do not worsen, greetings,

how do i know if i have performance issues, launcher was a little bit laggy, but i just installed v6 supercharger which solved this too
im only updating without factory restet/full wipe since something like mini cm 7.0 rc (edit: to be more specific i think it was miniCM7-2.0/CM7.1 port) , im not sure, maybe there is some benchmark so i can check if its too slow, or could be faster than now at least. In my opionion its pretty fast already, but maybe i only think it is fast
edit. im using nAa-06 kernel with minicm7-2.1.4

greetings friend this is for those who have problems with slow, but if you think your rom is stable so good but stability will mean superchanger unused v6 or other tricks, the perfect rom does not use performance tricks

as im from germany i don't think i really got your point. As i said im using minicm7 for quite some time, usually overclocked at 710 MHz, which includes undervolting as far as i know. I had stabilty issuses using 729 MHz so i reduced it again and have may 1 crash since than, but i think it was caused by the usb conenction to a friends pc. You mean i should run very fast without v6 supercharger? even when pushing the home button to return to home screen? that was the moment it was a bit laggy.
So all in all i have no stability issues in every day life, im just not sure if my phone runs as fast as it should with this rom. as i said i would like to compare my perfomance in some way (like a video from one of u guys or a benchmark)
i also dont know, if i need a factory wipe when im going to upgrade to 2.1.5 or if i only need it when i get stability issues

since people do not pay attention at this FAQ linked in miniCM7 first post,
[*]i decided to create a new thread dedicated to Q&A about miniCM7 and nAa's kernel
this thread is the place of your questions, answers, tips about nAa's kernel and miniCM7 by nAa
so please, as usual, read FAQ, use search option or anything else before asking commonly answered questions
the FAQ will be incremented when needed
the Q&A are in random order
before all the Q&A below : one is most important :
in order to install miniCM7 2.1.X you NOW need :
- to read this upgrade guide
- to read that post
- to unlock your bootloader (see also here)
- to flash nAa's kernel for X10mini, for X8, for x10miniPRO
if not, you will brick your phone. -> read this then, that may help you : !!!!
--> i think it is still too small ...
something else that is useful to read before asking :
Here we (nearly all? XDA members, regardless of being devs or only users [like me], me at least ) don't care about your good/bad English the important is trying to be understood and to understand the content of the threads
only ask things you can't find, or you don't understand, please if you don't understand something in any process tell us exactly where is your problem : it will optimize the answer
sometime rephrasing things can make you understand better, feel free to help us for making the most understandable sentence for anybody
i'm always trying to use a proper English (not so easy for a non native English ^^)
but if there's something misunderstood because of my English your are welcome to correct me
BUT if you don't make the effort to read, I won't make the effort to answer (ok, you can't read everything... but read the minimum )
that's it
Instructions regarding miniCM7-2.1.X installation:
Download the latest all-in-one package from the release link that follows
Backup your /data contents: contacts, apps, sms, etc. or backup via recovery
Move the MiniCM7-xxx.zip to the root folder of your sdcard and rename it to update.zip. Optionally, download the suggested Google Apps for CM7 (check http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/ if you want to experiment with other gapps versions)
Unlock your bootloader, if you haven't already, using the stuff in unlock/ folder. Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225 for a nice tutorial
Flash the nAa kernel using Flashtool. To to this:
- Turn off your phone
- Start the Flashtool\X10FlashTool.exe and select Flash. Then select the E10_nAaxxx kernel firmware (this flashes both the kernel.sin and the loader.sin)
- Keep the back button pressed while connecting the usb cable. Flashtool should detect your phone and flash the kernel.
- Once done, disconnect the usb cable and power on the phone.
Once the logo appears, press the back button repeatedly to enter CWM4.x.
- Select 'backup and restore -> Backup'
- Select 'wipe data/factory reset' (SUGGESTED)
- Select 'apply update from sdcard'
- Flash gapps
Reboot (first boot will take ~2 mins)
Once your device has booted, you can navigate to CM Settings -> System -> Update notifications and select 'Register'. This way you can get update notifications on new versions of MiniCM7!

for miniCM9 refer to THIS THREAD PLEASE
for quick search, use ctrl+f and enter keyword, you should find an answer to your question
1/ I can’t see incoming call number, what can I do ?
Change CM Settings -> Lockscreen -> Style options -> Incoming call style choose sliding tabs
2/ my LED is not blinking properly is there any way to change that?
If you’re using miniCM 2.0.5 you must delete delete /system/lib/hw/lights.x10mini.so
If you’re using miniCM 2.0.6 & 2.0.7, 2.1.0,2.1.1, 2.1.2or2.1.3 you must delete /system/lib/hw/lights.robyn.so with rootexplorer or any other file manager that allows you to explore and modify root files
handcent led settings does not work properly with lights.robyn.so
of course, you need to reboot your phone after that.
then : After the restart, go to CyanogenMod settings/Interface/LED notifications/Advanced make sure everything is unchecked, select Reset and then reboot again.
of course, you need to reboot your phone after that.
also try this : go to CyanogenMod settings/Interface/LED notifications/Advanced then tick and untick "random colors" this may solve everything if not :
MarkMRL said:
By ticking and unticking everything a few times randomly, I probably triggered the random flag to update correctly, thus fixing the blinking color. Now I can select a color and have it blink normally.

you can"t delete the file? see q33/
REDELETE AFTER EACH UPDATE if you have the same problem SINCE THE FILE IS REWRITTEN
this Q/A2 is also True for all builds of MiniCM9 and 10
3/I want SE stock keyboard on this ROM !!
Just long press on any txt you’re typing on, “choose input method” then choose default input
4/ I’m already running an older version on miniCM7 (2.0.4 for example) do I have to perform a factory reset/ full wipe ?
There’s no need to factory reset in that case
you may have to perform this to avoid performance issue : here
5/ I’m already running an older version on miniCM6 (1.0.2 for example) do I have to perform a factory reset/ full wipe ?
Yes, absolutely, same as if you were under gingerDX, SE stock rom or any other non miniCM7 based. you will loose ALL your data that are on phone memory (sms/mms, contacts, calendar...) if you're sync to a google account, your contacts and calendar should be preserved
q4/ and q5/ : to upgrade from any version of miniCM below 2.1.X you need an unlocked bootloader, and to flash nAa's kernel !
all is explain in the first lines of this post
6/ how can I activate overclock or undervolt ?
Open CMsettings/performances/CPUsettings/ then tick overclock OR undervolt, undervolt is automatically activated with overclock.
Remember not to tick “set on boot” option if you’re trying frequenies upper than 710 that could make your phone unstable or being damaged.
for miniCM7 2.0.6 you also need to flash the module hotfix to see overclock/undervolt working
no need to install that for 2.0.7, see Q 16/
for nAa07+ and miniCM7-2.1.6+, Open CMsettings/performances/CPUsettings/,
Remember not to tick “set on boot” option if you’re trying frequenies upper than 710 that could make your phone unstable or being damaged.
Since OC is now embedded in kernel, no module to enable (so OC option disappeared!), if you want to OC only, just choose the freq, if you want to undervolt too, tick undervolt option !
7/ i'm actually using Xrecovery can i install miniCM7 directly ?
no, you can't, you first need to install clockworkmod recovery from the link given in the first post (put in on the root of your sd card, then reboot to recovery, "install custom zip", reboot : cwm recovery is now installed, you can flash this ROM )
8/ i can't download some apps from the market
download 'market enabler' and select T-mobile Usa as fake provider, then retry to search and download them. that should work
9/ random problems that are unknown for anyody?
reflash the rom, i.e. reinstall the rom zip trough recovery
&/or
first backup, then do a factory reset, or restart from the beginning, it could solve lots of problem (you will loose ALL your data that are on phone memory (sms/mms, contacts, calendar...) if you're sync to a google account, your contacts and calendar should be preserved)
you may have to perform this to avoid performance issue : here
10/ i own a X10miniPRO (u20i) does this ROM suites to this phone?
NO,No, and No this ROM is ONLY for X10mini (e10i/e10a) not for any other phone [a version is also available for X8, in the X8 section.]
edit : there is a version for minPRO available here so the ROM suites to X10mini, X8 and X10miniPRO in their respective version
11/ my battery is draining so fast ... what should i do ?
first calibrate your battery by fully charging your phone, then reboot into recovery, select Advanced/Wipe Battery Stats and then unplug and reboot
if there's no improvement so far
- see if there's app running always in the background
- look in CyanogenMod settings/Interface/LED notifications/Advanced make sure radom is not ticked
12/ i have installed minicm7 when i power on the phone it stuck on cyanogen 7 logo. what should i do.
does your phone comply to the conditions of the first post ?
if yes and if you can access to CWMrecovery, then reflash the rom and/or factory reset (you will loose ALL your data that are on phone memory (sms/mms, contacts, calendar...) if you're sync to a google account, your contacts and calendar should be preserved)
if not or if you can't access to CWM use Sony Ericsson Update Service to recover your phone as if it was out of the box (you will loose ALL your data that are on phone memory (sms/mms, contacts, calendar...) if you're sync to a google account, your contacts and calendar should be preserved)
13/ in the default input method, when i scroll down/up the "-,?,!,@,_ ..." & emoticons menu until it stops itself, the keyboard remains froozen
rotate your screen and this will be fixed, and don't scroll this violently
14/ app2SD and other features aren't working with 2.0.6, why is that?
for miniCM7 2.0.6 you also need to flash the module hotfix to see all the modules working (oc; uv; app2sd...)

there is an app2sd storing to FAT feature.
so you don't need any ext partition

I was looking for two different things: Getting the Sony Ericsson menu to the market, and enabling the Road Sync app that's free for SonyEricsson X10 mini users
To enable the SonyEricsson market, you need to edit the /system/build.prop file. Please be careful when you edit the file. If you mess up the file, you might get a phone that you can't boot (this can be fixed, cause i messed up a couple fo times I explain this later).
You can either just change the keys, or do like below: comment the old values with a # as the first char on the row, and write the new below.

As I mentioned earlier, i messed up the /system/build.prop file at one point. To get this fixed, i just rebootet into recoverymode, and mounted /system. After this i could use adb (found in the android-sdk) to copy back an corrected build.prop (./adb push build.prop /system/build.prop)
I had also an other issue with the android-market app. It crashed and got stuck a couple of times, so i fixed this by uninstalling the recent update from manage applications->All->Market.
I hope my changes don't break anything for the CM7, so please if you know that CM7 needs any of these keys i changed in build.prop, then please inform me

regarding 2.1.0+ and custom kernel :
my phone is laggy with 2.1.0 and crashes when screen goes off
it seems that on some phones, lockscreen is related to phone crash:
waiting for a fix,DustArma found a workaround :
DustArma said:
To everyone who has the lockscreen crashing problem, just disable it.
Go to Menu > Settings > CM Settings > Tablet tweaks > Disable lockscreen.
Now it won't freeze, but of course you won't have a lockscreen, that could be fixed by downloading a custom lockscreen from market though

supercharger optimization that can be usefull :
before updating to newer miniCM,
unsupercharge,
delete supercharger backups and
update to the new miniCM,
then resupercharge if you want
if you don't do that, you may experience some tricky problems if unsupercharging newer miniCM !
if you didn't, ofc don't complain about performance problem
SuperCharger v6 update9-RC1 ONLY for SuperCharger v6 update9 6.2.2 see the middle/end of this post!
first optimization:
1 Download SCRIPT MANAGER FROM MARKET
2 Go to this thread and download SuPERCHARGER SCRIPT 6 update9-RC1
3 Open program, load the script, Tick option run as ROOT.
in program dialog, type "1(fast)" and "enter"
4 answer properly to asked questions by the script !!
5 In main Dialog, type "4" "super UL (aggressive)" and "enter"
6 type 30 (exit) and then "enter" -->at the top you see: running becoming exit code0
7 press "close" (it was "kill" while the script was running)
8 reboot
9 now your phone uses supercharger, you don't need to run it again

40/ why do i have an annoying pop up asking for unlock key when i boot up my phone?
ferotakis said:
after little talk with one my friend we figure it out why in some provider is asking this code and in some not( like my case)
The reason is: This ROM is not legal I mean the original one from the Sony who before opening to users in theirs regions firs will be sent to operators , operators check it and then when you use for example Vodafone.de Vodafone.de if aprove the Sony ROM send a notification to users for a update is ON. When users updates their phone with the operator passed ROM they can be ''seen'' by the operator what type of phone with what type ot Android they are use and can send them auto setings like the APN MMS and etc.
If you want see the truelles of this just call your operator and ask them for auto APN . Try it if you have x10 mini with stock rom and with x10 mini with this one
In firs one operator say you : Ok i see in system you are using x10 mini vith android 2.1 i will send you the setings . But with this room she/he ask you what type of phone do you use bicoz I cant see it on system.
This is same wit the automated operator menus too : when you pres 4 (for example ) in voice menu and ask for a auto internet setings the autovoice say sorry we not support you phone yet will try again later.
This is not big deal for now bicoz the most of operators APN is already configuret but if you use operator who is not includet you cant use mobile data bicoz you not have APNs.
That is wy this code is asking for when you put some of providers sim some of them make theirs system in that way ... its more easy for them but for us is just annoing popup window

Here's a brief explanation for A2SD/DC2SD/Swap:
A2SD/DC2SD only makes sense if you have /data that is over 200MB i.e. many apps.
Swap is useful if you need to run memory-hungry apps or wanna have more apps loaded in memory.
Any size for swap should be good depending on your needs (e.g. 128MB). To verify a2sd is loaded, run df via adb shell. It should show /data/app and /data/app-private mounted in /sd-ext.
Also /data/dalvik-cache should be mounted to /sd-ext/dalvik-cache if DC2SD is chosen.
To verify swap is used, try the command 'free' via adb shell.
None of the above are for the everyday/novice users. You have to know what you are doing.

I don't really understand why do you use link2sd since this feature is embedded in the rom ...
you should better delete the content of the ext partition and use gb app2sd feature

You can safely flash this ROM over any GB ROM without losing your data.
For faster flashing - flash PDroid right after ROM to skip cache rebuilding twice.
Only thing - your account data might (slight chance) be lost, keep that in mind.
If you’re coming from 2.2 ROM – Factory reset is needed. Absolutely.
Standard procedure after flashing zip update:
Wipe Dalvik cache.
Wipe Cache partition.
Fix permissions.
After first boot your home will blink and third party apps installed in data space. This is absolutely normal and intended.

11.11.2011 (11.11.11) - To keep this date and to whose experiencing troubles with v0.54b:
v0.55b.
CPU governor set to conservative.
New streakOwner's tweaks.
wpa_supplicant.conf changed back.
10.11.2011 - v0.54b:
I'd consider this release as experimental, due to the following:
1. CPU lowest frequency is set to 128MHz. This frequency also works on even lower power consumption. streakOwner's idea that proved it's usefullness. Again
2. WiFi watchdog removed, as it consumes energy without actually helping the problem.
3. Change in wpa_supplicant.conf (to eth0), that at least seems to help uglyrooster, while not breaking anything.
4. New, revised version of tweaks by streakOwner
5. As a side effect of my USSD/Tether research - framework contains less Olleh/KT code, but it only make size smaller.

I would like to have any report of any regression here or in PM.
Thank you.
06.11.2011 - v0.53b:

Extract it to some folder and run flash(flash.cmd). Instructions provided in batch file itself.
Then flash latest ROM and update.

Guides:1.Guidelines for migrating from previous releases of DSC Roms.
Since you are already using a version of DSC (Dell Streak Community) you know how to do upgrade, just a reminder please dont neglect, do a dalvik-cache wipe, a cache partition wipe and a fix permission from the StreakMod advanced menu.
Optional, you can also recalibrate your battery by wiping battery data, while you are still flashing things , but be sure the battery was at 100 % before you stared flashing the updates and that the usb is still connected at the time of instalation, once you reboot, remove the usb cable and dont forget to let the first time your battery to drain out totaly until the phone shuts down by itself.
2.Guidelines for migrating form other Gingerbread based ROMs.
Coming from other Gingerbread Custom ROMs to DSC you need to be sure that you have the latest baseband 406 installed already,if you dont know which one you are actually using you can check easily on your phone, find Settings/About Phone/ and check the Baseband version (7th row), should read something like GAUSB1A140614-XX, if you dont see the 406 numbers than you have to update your baseband, as DSC requires and is tested to work with the latest 406 from Dell. To be sure nothing will go wrong during the flashing, it is highly adviced and recommended to use the DSC_flashme2.zip provided by (_n0p_) this way the human error during the flashing process is omitted. All you need is working Windows installation (32bit versions are tested) and the latest drivers form Dell installed on the PC. You need to extract the content of the zip file on any folder you like or the default folder offered by the system, DSC_flashme , but be sure to be easily accesed, you can remove the folder to any place you like after the flashing process, but since the adb.exe sits there , better dont delete it since logcats are highly apprechiated by the DSC team, to find out and erradicate bugs and problems. After the folder is in place , locate the flash.bat and double click on it, a windows DOS terminal will open, the instructions are clear for you , since you are supposedly familiar with such procedure before.
After the first reboot, continue with StreakMod menu to flash DSC which you have already put on your SDcard beforehand. You are required to wipe dalvik, wipe cache partitions and fix permissions before you conntinue with the reboot, due to changes between kernels used in different customs ROMs you are required to calibrate your battery first thing after the system boots.
3.Guide for migrating from Custom Froyo ROMs.
Many of the things are the same as above " Migrating form Other Gingerbread based ROMs", such as the upgrading of the Baseband files, the procedure is the same, note that some apps arent optimised or you might have trouble running them in GB , that is a issue you have to deal with your application developer.
4.Guidelines for migrating from Stock Froyo ROMs.
Running a custom ROM has its advantages and disadvantage (you woid your warranty), advantages are many thou nandroid backups, speed , flexibility, root ability, imporved battery life, tweaks to make your Streak do more than you are used to, quick response from the devs for daily issues etc.
Custom ROMs dont come in .pkg format as do OTA from Dell, but custom ROMs do come in .zip files, which then need to be flashed (installed) into your Streak. To make this possible you need first to install a modified image called StreakMod which would make it possible for you to install DSC. StreakMod is provided also from DSC in the pack DSC_flashme2.zip provided by (_n0p_).
Download the DSC_flashme2.zip provided by (_n0p_) All you need is working Windows installation (32bit versions are tested) and the latest drivers form Dell installed on the PC.
You need to download the main DSC ROM only form the links provided on the first post of DSC in XDA thread, copy it on the root of your SDcard where they can be easily accesed, or you can open a folder called DSC, and you can put there all the zip files from DSC, but remmember the place , as you will need to find those files later from StreakMod menu.
You need to extract the content of the DSC_flashme2.zip file on any folder you like or the default folder offered by the system, DSC_flashme , but be sure to be easily accesed, you can remove the folder to any place you like after the flashing process,
Now be sure you have charged your streak to 100% before you start installing DSC. DO NOT connect your Streak with the PC using the usb connector yet. Power your streak on and immedialty press the camera button, you will see a white screen, this is called the FASTBOOT mode "Wait for SD detect...." then you will see "FastBoot" tap on it and the streak will enter the FastBoot-Mode , you will see "Wait for USB FastBoot detect ...." wait 20 seconds then plug your usb connector to the mobile and after some seconds you will see "FASTBOOT_MODE", now you are ready to turn to your PC again and .....
After the folder is in place, locate the flash.bat and double click on it, a windows DOS terminal will open, follow the instructions there and reboot immediatly after you see the Dell logo within seconds you need to press and keep pressed both volume butons on the side of and then you will have access to Dell menu, select the second option by using the Volume buttons to go up and down the menu, once the second choice "upgrade...." press the camera button and wait several seconds, then a Dell logo with a triangle will appear, that is the StreakMod menu, try navigating the menu up and down with the volume buttons, and once second choice there " update using zip" is highlighted, press the camera button , then you will go to a another menu , where using the same volume buttons , you can navigate thru to find the place where you uploaded the DSC zip file , then once highlaghted press the camara button again and you will see the DSC_script doing its job, once finished , you need to press back button, and go back to the first menu where you select reboot. Once streak is rebooting agian keep your fingers press on both volume buttons, where you will see the Dell menu, now chose the first option, factory reset, streak will reboot by itself, let it reboot , you will see Dell logo, and then the DSC boot animation, wait now patience, if you have done all the above , nothing can go wrong, wait a little , then wait some more , bcs a lot of files is being genearated for first time, etc so this process can take some time, 15 minutes, if you have seen the DSC boot animation, it means everything is ok, otherwise you need to repeat the process again.

Help us, sending bugreports:Connect Streak to PC.
Dump log (i assume if you have flashed this ROM, you know what "adb" command is):
Code:
adb logcat -d >mylog.txt
If bug causes Streak to reboot, do this:
Connect Streak to PC, issue command:
Code:
adb logcat >mylog.txt
and try to reproduce the issue. (adb will automatically disconnect on reboot).
Send me "mylog.txt" or attach to this thread.
My e-mail is n0p[at]ukr[dot]net
I don't promise immediate responce, but this log would be very helpful.
Thank you for attention.
Thanks for giving us another choice of rom.
Have you got any screenshots and what overclock are we talking?
Method is described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302831
Will make some screens soon.
have you seen Dell released kernel for 2.3.5 on dell open source? this may help with your ROm and bugfixes..
good to see more development.
chrisrotolo, you could've noticed that i've replied in that thread
I think either watch_mania or DJ_Steve will release something big soon.
Right now i'm moving, and gonna be in that state for a month and just don't have time for that. But'd really love to.
Downloading this now.... this coming from fards gs 2.4 so can i keep same amss or the one in op is different ?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
If your baseband number shows 40514-EU - you can keep your current one.
Is it also possible to disable the battery cover sensor for this ROM? That would complete my wishlist
This could be done. I'll take a look on my free time, if i'll have any
To my knowledge only SimpleStreak has this feature. Would be great if we could get it on more ROMs
NO Internet...
Everything seems to be working great. The OC makes it a little snappier, at least enough to notice it... just having ONE problem though, I don't have any connectivity... I have a wifi signal but it won't connect, it says connected in the settings but I can't browse or connect to anything that needs internet. Same situation with 3G, but with 3G I don't even get the wireless symbol in the status bar..
cdzo72, that's quite odd.

Gimme a couple days... I immediately nandroided back to my install of 2.4... I'll try this one again in a couple of days when I get a couple of hours of spare time...
I tried flashing the amss and dsp1 files for Steve and fards build but it didn't help, and oddly enough when I nandroided back to their build, I had to reboot twice before I could regain connectivitiy... like you said, quite odd
2 days with this Rom and quite satisfied. I have random reboots these seem to occur only After the processor has completed some heavy tasks I.e online flash content. Example I drove 3 hours using sygic navigator and never had a problem then I closed sygic and removed car power adapter checked 2 minutes later the screen was black and had to remove the battery as it didn't turn on anymore.
What I like about this rom is that it is quick and the dell stage removed, the battery's percentage and the phone apk is ok with higher dpi and overall apart the reboots mentioned seems stable enough for day use. Please keep track of the new updates and post them.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I would really like to see the log.
Could you connect Streak to PC, issue command:
adb logcat >mylog.txt
and try to reproduce the issue?
adb will automatically disconnect on reboot.
Just to let know that downloads are right now limited to 30KBps/15 sessions.

Sorry I didn't get you the logs, it may have been a phone problem... when I nandroided back to my original Gingerbread I couldn't connect either so I flashed the amss and dsp1 and still had no luck.... so I went back to bare stock and started from scratch and now I am able to connect...
BUT have run across another issue, I can update the Superuser app but it won't update the binary... so I manually replaced it and then wasn't able to use any apps that needed root... so I put the old one back, still no root; I had to flash the ROM again to be able to use ROOT apps

What do i clearly see - that's not a log of clean install.
Application permissions are broken, for start.
How did you migrate to this ROM?

If you want to upgrade Superuser+su, which i don't recommend, update busybox first and make sure it supports "busybox which" command.

{26/JAN/2012}SD ROM+DualModeRecovery -MultibootCWM+XRecovery[Stock Kernel&Alfs Kernel
Multiboot+DualRecovery (CWM with multiboot & XRecovery together at last!)
What is multiboot CWM by nobodyAtall?
It is a recovery that allows us to boot ROMs (with certain changes made) from our sd-cards!
Have one ROM on your NAND(internal memory) and as many ROMs as you can fit(400mb each) on your sd-card.
What is DualRecovery?
It is the option to: (in this case)
Boot into XRecovery by tapping the back button while your phone is turning on.
&
Boot into CWM multiboot by repeatedly tapping the screen while your phone is turning on.
Install Instructions:
Have approx. ~900mb free on your sd-card.
1:Simply download the "Multiboot+DualRecInstaller+FPv24SD.zip" & flash in ClockWorkMod.
2:Reboot phone + while rebooting tap the touchscreen like crazy!
3:In CWM multiboot, go to multiboot settings, choose "Select default boot option"
4:Select "FroyoProv24SD.StockKernel" then reboot.
Read Post#3!
DOWNLOAD:
Download "Multiboot+DualRecInstaller+FPv24SD.zip" Here~100mb.
This is for STOCK KERNEL, everyone else read post #2!
No Mirrors! I will make a mirror soon!!!
If you are on stock kernel this should work on ALL Roms...however I have only tested a few.

This is not a new idea, I have just made the necessary changes, packaged dual mode recovery with multiboot CWM, made an AutoSDROMInstaller package, as well as offering your first ROM(FPv24SD).
Users were asking for this, so I made it.
Alfs Kernel Users:
What is DualRecovery?

Install Instructions:
Have approx. ~900mb free on your sd-card.

Download:
Download "AlfsMultiboot+DualRecInstaller+FPv24SD.zip" here~100mb.
No mirrors! I will add a mirror later! Please be patient!
Please note:
You can flash this at any time but if installing a new NAND(internal memory) ROM...
This is the last thing that should be flashed, if you flash Alfs kernel fix after this, you will break DualRecovery functionality.
Important Information:
1. Not all sd-card are supported!!! If you set a default boot option but your phone phone boots into your normal rom then your sd-card is NOT supported. (Try a different sd-card.)
2. Each boot option(ROM) takes up around 400mb of space on your sd-card.
3. However you need 800mb(+100mb for the installer) free on your sd-card to install this as I have included a 512mb data.img with this package so you can go crazy installing apps.
4. First boot will be SLOW. We are booting from the sd-card remember?
5. Slow sd-cards will mean a really sluggish multiboot.
6. Performance is very different compared with ROMs on your NAND(internal memory), you shouldn't compare them.
Explanation of multiboot functions:
-Select default boot option: Set the external(SD) ROM in which you want the phone to boot from now on.
-Unset default boot option: Unset booting of external(SD) ROM so that the phone will boot from NAND (internal memory).
-Create boot option from zip: Select and install an SD ROM in sdcard (requires 400mb free).
-Delete existing boot option: Delete an already installed ROM from your sdcard.
-Flash zip to boot option: Flash updates to an already installed (SD) ROM.
Bugs:
Stock Kernel:
--Some sd-cards are not supported -If you set default boot option but your NAND(internal memory) ROM loads, then your sd-card is not supported.
Alfs Kernel:(This may just be for the sd-card I have here, please try yourself.)
--SD-Card can not be accessed, not from USB or from file explorer
You can still download and install all your favourite games with the large data.img provided. (Alfs vold is already included, it doesn't magically fix this lol.)
--Cannot 'Create boot option from zip'+'Flash zip to boot option'=Same bug as above really.
This will either need ramdisk changes in Alfs kernel (probably wont happen) or ramdisk changes in ROM, or recompile of nAa's CWM multiboot 4 Alfs (probably wont happen).
To ROM devs:
Just give me a thanks & nobodyAtall a thanks before using this stuff, that's all I ask.
Devs using Alfs:
Due to the sd-card bug at the moment you will have to provide your rom in either:
1. A package like this one. -Use mine as a base, so users can auto install easily through CWM.
2. A system.img that users can put in a folder in the 'multiboot' folder of their sdcard with a cache.img & data.img (they can just copy the ones I have provided from one folder to another folder of there sd-cards).
3. Fix the sd-card bug, I haven't even looked at this yet, I have spent too much time on this already.
A lot more information can be found here & (for x10mini)here.
These links are old though so many of the stuff may not work anymore or cause weird bugs with current ROMS!
Not really advised to do it yourself, wait for your ROM developer to release a multiboot patch!
This seems really crazy, will try it out asap there are a bit more infos!
Will it be possible to eventually have boot images of 4 different Android versions?
will be the rom faster if it boots from sd class 10 card? Or nand is faster? Sorry, i have no time to test. I will be thanksful if you give me answer

NAND ofcourse, there's still the bridge to the SD card.
You can compare it with your PC, the speed of your HDD is still faster than any USB pen you plug in.
Well in some ways & doing some things, SD ROMS will be faster.
But overall probably NAND is slightly faster.
For benchmarking scores SD ROMS will definitely mark higher.
This is so easy, on stock kernel or Alfs Kernel, you just install it in ClockWorkMod & hey presto dual mode recovery with XRecovery, Multiboot-ClockWorkMod and a flashy new SD ROM.
It works great for me...I play all my games on my SD ROM then I don't lose my save games when flashing new test updates of my NAND ROM.
It seems this was just a big waste of time for me though. No one interested in this??

[Q] Trouble getting custom rom on 5839i

Hi all,
After spending many hours trawling the internet, and especially this forum I still am having problems getting ANY custom rom I've tried booting on this phone
I know it's old, but it's just a phone I had lying around and want to use it as a small tablet for my 6yo daughter.
I can flash any "stock" rom I've found with odin, but when flashing using an install from an SD card through CWM, it just hangs on the Samsung bootscreen.
CWM installs as the default recovery console, so something is going on the phone, but it won't boot to android.
Oh I'm also using a 5830I rom, but my research has shown this is basically the same phone?
I've used CM7 and tried lots of other custom roms with the same outcome - please can anyone help!?
My daughter is dying to use her new games machine, but the stock rom is sooooo laggy and slow it's no good at all!
Thanks in advance.
@macsbig, "About device" information from settings of your device please < home+power button for screenshots > or kindly state the full details here.
Your original CSC/PDA/MODEM parts of your device <Dial *#1234# >
Your Region /Country/ carrier you are staying please.
Thanks for the reply ehsanotaku!
PDA : S5830iXXLA4
PHONE : S5830iXXLA2
CSC : S5830iOXXLA2
I'm in the uk. This is not the original rom (that got stuck in a bootlock) and the only way to get the 'phone working again was to flash with a stock rom from the internet.
The original rom was from "Three".
During my various attempts at flashing a rom I have ticked the "re-partition" box and tried both "cooperve_0623.pit" and totoro_0623.pit
I've flashed my P5110 tablet, and a Galaxy S1 for my son with no problems - odd!
@macsbig, How come you are ended up with outdated ( 2012 ) s5830i in the first place ? Any particular problems with your s5839i original firmware ( do you know your original CSC/PDA/MODEM parts ) ? Are you absolutely sure this is not re-branded version ( "About Device" info of the original phone would be nice to see though ) Did you take any Nandroid back up of all of the original partitions of your s5839i through temporary CWM zip file ( files will be stored inside your Clockworkmod directory inside the root of the SD card )
Do you still have access to Recovery stock e3 console and Download mode ?
Another important subject in need of clarification are ".pit" files ( partition table info ) and Re-partition option. Playing around with wrong .pit file such as totoro and incorrect usage of Re-partition will lead into hard bricking of your device .
Since you already did modify partition table couple of time partially without success , I would suggest the following process :
1. Download one of the newest non wipe xxx.tar.md5 s5830i firmware from here < It is free, but registration is required > Probably 2013 xxMD1 is the right one for our experiment.
2. Make your wipe flash able zip package through splitfus2 tutorial provided here, my comment @ post 9 or simply you may use European/Russian pre-made package from here , your choice though ( I would advise the first method , but the latter also will work ) .
3.Get the following files:
3.1 - Odin3.v3.07.Cooperve.exe from either places would be fine : 1 , or any sticky post in general/development section will do ( correct cooperVe .pit file will be resided inside the package )
3.2- Get the Temp-CWM 5.0.2.6 or 5.0.2.8 zip file from here or here < put the zip file inside the root of your SD card for flashing later >
3.3- Boot loader <DefaultCalDataWithBoot_S5830iXXLB1_REV00.tar.rar from post#27 , my attachment .
3.4 - SLIM_CM7.2_Cooperve #4 Rom < put it inside the root of SD card >
3.5- This kernel is also goes into Root of SD card for later usage .
3.6- EXT4 Formatter Tool , into the root of SD card again.
4- Now , if you don't have proper drivers installed inside your Windows PC , you can get then form here .
Ok, assuming you have at least access to Download mode , provided the combo keys work (pressing Vol(+) + Vol(-) + Power Keys) Go there according to manual :
-Power off your Phone.
-Get into "Download mode" by pressing Vol(+) + Vol(-) + Power Keys.
-press volume up
-Open Odin3.v3.07.Cooperve.exe
-Connect your phone to PC via USB cable.
-Make sure that your phone is detected in "ID:COM" area.
- Put your wipe PDA/CSC/MODEM/ boot loader/pit files into their proper places , Re-partition is ticked , Factory reset and reboot selected by default >> push the START !
- DO NOT disconnected nor disturb the flashing Nand process , until the process being terminated . Now you must be out of boot loop .
For completing our partition conversion and also put some cm7.2 custom Rom into the test at the same time , do the following :
- Boot into stock e3 recovery >> wipe data and flash your Temp CWM
- CWM > wipe data > wipe cache > wipe Dalvik cache
- Flash the EXT4 Formatter tool, so whole system will be converted to EXT4. (Stock filesystem is RFS).
- Flash kernel_CM7_v4.0_cooperVe .
- When the Kernel is installed, go to the advanced menu --> "reboot recovery" (this will reboot the device, thus you will be directed into your new CWM built-in, which is implanted inside Kernel ).
- Wipe data, cache and Dalvik
- Go to "mounts and storage", and make sure /system partition is mounted (will show -unmounted ; it is like ON/OFF switch)
- Main menu > "Install zip from SD Card" > choose "zip from SD card" and install the ROM, you have already got inside your SD <SLIM_CM7.2_Cooperve #4>
- Reboot
waiting for some good news ............
It's a long story, but here goes!
I had a couple of old phones we no longer use hanging around the house, so I thought it would be good to let my (young) children use them as simple games playing deivices. It doesn't matter too much if the phone is dropped and damaged etc, as I probrably wont use them for anything else as we have new phones.
Within a couple of days - and I'm not sure what happened, my daughters phone was stuck in a boot loop (samsung and "Three" logos repeatedly). Having no experiance of "unbricking" phones I immediately reached for google, and set out on my quest to sort out her phone for her (as we had lots, and lots of tears over her new toy!). The phone has no sim card in and is on wifi for installs etc.
After searching I found a rom that would load on and make the phone good again, this one: S5839iXXLK2_S5839iH3GLC2_S5839iNELK1_HOME.tar.md5
This worked ok, but was very laggy, and irritated me imensely as I was sorting games etc for her, so I decided to to instal a custom rom. After 3 roms refused to load (just stuck on the "Samaung GALAXY Ace GT-S5839i boot screen) I decided to try flashing it to 5380i firmware and Pit file - as nearly all custom roms for the ace seem to be for the 5830i variant - I wondered if this would sort my problem!
It didn't! But now it has become a challenge, and a chance to learn something of Android and how it works - as I said in my last post I have successfully flashed an I9000 with carbon and my P5110 with CM11, I learnt how to do this by what I've learnt from reaserching about this phone, so it has been a worthwhile excercise!
But back to the point. No I don't have any back-ups of the original phone, I neither had the knowlege, or know how of having or needing to do this - it's only now I'm finding my phones/tablets so facinanting!!
Yes I am now back to the stock (e3) recovery, which I can get into.
Many thanks for your help so far - I will try your ideas and repeort back!
@macsbig, Yes do that please and after resolving your initial problems , here is a confirmed list of the games compatible with your GPU/CPU of your child's legacy device . Also you can use chainfire 3d only under stock firmware/rooted phone for the games required plugin(s) and app being activate for proper almost lag free experience . You may read theses links as well for some insight : 1 , 2 .

Well , researching a new area of knowledge ( in this case customization/rooting/bricking/moding and many more technical things inside XDA) can be a bit overwhelming.I do agree with you that the sheer wealth of material means that it can be overwhelming, but more you read and spend time @ XDA, more you will get the hang of the material presented here .
Nevertheless we are here to share/help all of the possible/working solution mate. Just ask anything you can not understand very well . I will try to depict even more detailed walk-through guidelines.
Regards
Right, I now have a custom rom on the 5839i!
I didn't have too much time last night, so what I did was flashed the phone with Odin, using the bootloader and pit file you specified. I then rebooted into the stock revovery, wiped the Data, Cache and Delvic partitions, then booted into CMW 5.0.2.6 and flashed the EXT4 Formatter tool. I then installed the kernel you specified
After that I rebooted into the CMW recovery from the new kernel and followed your instructions - and Voila! It booted into the slim rom you linked me too
Just to test it wasn't a fluke, I then installed CM9, and that went on fine too - with just the normal steps.
I now have to decide after your other advice, whether I go for a stock rom, and try and get rid of the lag, use chainfire 3D etc or go for a custom mod!
Is there a similar app for modded roms's like chainfire 3D to help game perfomance on this limited hardware? I'd really prefer to use a modded rom and build up from there, but as I stated earlier in the post, this will be used only for games and listening to music from youtube, so i'll maybe have to research some more to find out what would work the best.
Many, many thanks for your help, I've learnt alot during this project!!
Oh as a bit of an aside, got a bit worried when downloading some of the links, some of the "download managers" were causing my anti-virus and anti-malware software to give me warnings!
Thanks again
@macsbig, Glad everything worked out for you mate . To address your concerns I must say that I did not come across any working solution for accelerating your GPU with reduction [email protected] custom Roms unfortunately ( only works on stock fw/rooted device) .
For CM9 beta Rom available @ development sub forum , this is an unstable Rom with some serious problems , because of ICS bugs an other things( Read this troubleshooting session and links provided there ).
For malware's concerns they are mostly false positives . Even virus total wold miss lead you in many cases, due to nature of advertising agent implanted inside some of the app inside system directory of custom Roms . You can simply replace the app in question with another one free of adverts. However they are harmless mostly. Please read this discussion (post #472-475) (post#291-298) between me and moderators team for more information about advertisement policies. Basically we have a very good control over materials presented here , thanks to mod teams .
Hope I did help you with your quest
My apologies, when I said that I was getting anti-virus/malware warnings, that was aimed at when I was trying to download the files on "mediafire(?)" and such like. They want you to install a stupid downloader etc., which then installs some crap on your pc.
Had it when downloading splitfus2 if I recall correctly (it was late 12am!).
That's why in the end I decided to use a pre - split (is that what you mean by wiped?) rom in the end.
I'm gonna have a play with the 'phone again later when I finish work.

No radio mean no apps installed to make it function.
i m still searching for the fix.
Here's my experience since I installed this ROM...
From stock, I flashed the pre-rooted firmware first. The flashing thingy went through successfully, however, when my device booted up, everything seemed to be a disaster. It lags occasionally, sometimes unusable. Freeze here. Freeze there. Remove battery. My data (apps, files, etc.) were kept. I thought everything would be gone after the flash. Not a dev here lol. I made a backup though before doing the whole process. Maybe backing up the data and performing a factory reset (from stock ROM first) before flashing the pre-rooted firmware would help. It took me more than 2 hours before I was able to successfully install TWRP — then flash the custom ROM and the gapps. Again, the flash went through successfully. On boot, minor disaster again. After selecting the language and the SIM card to be used for the mobile data, the setup thingy did crash. Back to language again, SIM card selection, crash. "Unfortunately (blah2) stopped." I tried to reboot normally, even turned the device off and removed the battery, but still, the bug persists. Tried to look for other reboot options. I think it was "Download" that I selected and TADAAAH. It booted. Everything seemed to be fine! I installed ES File Explorer and I was amazed how light this custom ROM was.
At the stock ROM, I was able to connect some USB devices such as a keyboard, mouse, flash drive, and printer via OTG adaptor. Also, I was able to cast some media to my Miradisplay dongle (DNLA mode) through the BubbleUPnP for DLNA/Chromecast app. Miracast (screen mirroring) won't work on stock, no option to enable at the settings as well. Screen mirroring on the stock via Screen Stream is possible, but the latency is terrible and the app will exit upon opening other apps. I hoped that screencasting via Miracast will work on the custom ROM by this time, but still, it didn't. The dongle can be recognized as a wireless display at the custom ROM settings though, but upon connecting, it will not go through. I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with the connecting process. If it will be fixed, I assume that the screen mirroring feature will now be available as well.
Back to the OTG compatibility issue, I was able to find out the problem and fix it (thank u google). The android.hardware.usb.host.xml file is missing from the /system/etc/permissions folder. I searched for the file on Google, downloaded it, and pasted the file into the said folder through the ES File Explorer (root explorer > mounted /system as RW). Reboot my device. Success. OTG restored. So far, I was able to connect my flash drive and print from my printer via OTG adaptor. The printer app I used, by the way, is Mobile Print - PrinterShare.
I HOPE THE CAST SUPPORT WILL BE FIXED Tried the #MirrorEnabler already but no luck. Sorry for the long post, first timer. Sorry if I did violate something or what.

Flashed the ROM and run very good. There are some patches to fix wallpaper and audio bugs in official topic in 4pda.ru, you can flash it to have a better kernel.

Thanks for give the files :good:
but right now my phone has a problem.....
-after i flash odin it say pass and my phone turn into blackscreen and not reboot.
-cant even turn on or charging...and i think it hard brick
so i do some research and i try :
-remove battery
-press power+vol up and down + home at same time
-keep hold the key and connect the phone to pc
-my pc detect as *unknown device* with no driver installed error but actually i have install all samsung usb driver.
i do more research i found out that not only me but galaxy j1 also have same problem and other samsung devices too.
The only way to fix this problem is using usb jig to force the phone to boot into download mode and flash using odin to make it boot back.
If anyone know other way let me know pls.

I saw this problem in my phone. Reset your computer, reinstall driver from https://www.google.com/url?q=[url]h...ggTMAA&usg=AFQjCNHJpORiWETp9lM3eMDn4a-U3iYI1Q[/url]
Then use Odin 3.0.9 ( the most stable version and flash the official firmware.
Hope you will success.
Edit: a 4pda.RU member says ( translated from Russian)
In the early Samsung bootloader it was possible to patch with a COM cable that is soldered to the connector. Now, I do not know, but maybe there are pyataks on the board under TX, RX, GND. And it was possible with FlashTool. If there is a ready-made jig recovery scheme, why not use it?

Missing lib and other files. Many roms for G318 series was designed for G318H, ML which just have back camera. Try this cm11 ROM if you want to use front camera:
