My current flash is the Frankenstein XWKJ1 from the above link, and I then flashed the Siyah V2.1.1 kernel, all with no wipe of the phone.
Just follow the instructions on the post.

can i use this on my phone which is running xwkf3 android 2.3.3..its from the frankeinstein:-
XWKJ3
Android 2.3.5
This package has: PDA: XWKJ3| Modem/phone: XXKI3| CSC: XEUKH2
i hope incase the answer is positive i can use odin to flash it
i extracted the firmware and i only see firmware.tar.md5 as agianst seeing those 3 files..how do i proceed? can i use cwm on my phone to install it?
Sorry - I didn't answer your main question. The answer is yes, that was the initial upgrade I made with mys SGS2.
With the file you are talking about, you need to use Odin to flash. You cannot do the .tar.md5 file with CWM. Follow the instructions on the post where you got your rom file from, but essentially you just need to flash it from the PDA slot in Odin.

If only
The best you can do at the moment is only an ICS theme. Have a look here

As we all know that the ICS update on the 10th of March, will I be able to update OTA update with this current baseband? It bcame LPH after flashing litening rom then reverted back to previous rom using rom manager however the baseband remained LPH. For OTA/KIES update to work, do i need to flash stock rom first?

Can anyone help me ?
Bit of patience might help. Bumping your thread an hour after you asked your initial question isn't likely to endear you to anyone here
Yes. If you want to get ICS via Kies, you'll need to go back to stock.
Updating through KIES if you are a power user isn't so good to be honest. For example, KIES force you to use the original ROMs baseband version if you want to receive firmware updates (also correct CSC and so on). Newest baseband doesn't always means the best one. I have compared XXKI4 to XXLPH and surely I've got better battery life-performance balance in KI4 So i can recommend you using Mobile Odin/Odin for flashing .. more flexibility to be honest
Baseband is not relevant .
Custom kernel is .
Kies updates those phones that have original firmware codes anything else and its a maybe.
OTA no rollout on that so far but supposed to be working for ICS .

FIXED: My own stupid. I also have a SGS2 and was using the wrong image as they a named similarly and reside in the same folder.
Hi all,
I wanted to flash teh stock Firmware to my S3 and Odin hangs at NAND Write Start.
Phone: Galaxy S3 International Version
Carrier: O2 Germany
What I have done before:
1. I was tired of waiting for OTA updates by my Carrier so I went to samfirmware.com and flashed the latest Firmware they had for my Phone (German Open; XXALF6). - No Problems
2. Since I like root, I flashed CF 6.4.
3. I installed TriangleAway and reset the flash counter.
Thats it, no further modifications.
Now, since my CSC actually seems able to deliver OTA updates and I want them, I decided to get the original Firmware from samfirmware for my CSC (XXALE8). But when I try to flash it via Odin, it hangs at "NAND Write Start" without any progress.
When I get bored and simply disconnect the USB cable, this does not hurt the phone, but i want the original Firmware on my phone again.
Any suggestions? I am open for anything but would prefer if it didn't involve wiping/factory resetting the phone.

Yea, there seems to be a lot of them, wonder what's causing it...
Here's a screenshot.
PS: I'm using Odin3 1.85. Should I use a different version?

Hello community,
I want to root and flash CyanogenMod 10.1 to the s2 of a friend of mine. I already did it on my phone but this time I'm not sure which kernel I should use...
The last time I used CF-root because it was clear which version to use. This time there isn't even a close match to any of the version listed there.
Here the phone information:

It's a German phone so the information is also in German.
Basisband = baseband
Nummer = number
So there aren't any letters in the kernel version and I don't know which kernel to flash now..
I posted this here because I'm not allowed to post anything in the cf-root thread. Sorry for that

AFAIK there is no matching CF root for ur LQ6 kernel ma8.
Hence try rooting ur phone using Siyah kernel v5.0.1 (tar file for ODIN) using 'ODIN' to get CWM and SuperSu installed with it.
After that reboot to siyah recovery and make a Nandroid backup of ur phone.
then install the CM10.1 official nightlies and boot ur phone, once done u can change ur kernel to latest Dorimanx v7.33
OK, I have a galaxy S2 I9100 (to be rooted) stock ICS 4.0.4 baseband version I9100DDLPC and build number IMM76D.XWLQ2.
+ I have an insane chip
I have gone through a lot of threads and I am confused.
I found the root guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28178105
I want to follow the first step (for phones with brick bug).
After doing that, i want to get rid of my stock kernel. Can I flash the Siyah kernel through stock recovery? Which version of Siyah kernel is the latest while being safe from the brick bug?
Just flash a custom kernel via Odin and you'll have root access and you don't have to worry about the brick bug anymore (Siyah is safe). Check www.gokhanmoral.com for the version you need for ICS.
Thanks...

Thanks for the quick reply!
One more thing, after flashing Siyah suppose I want to install cm10/10.1, I just have to full wipe in cwm and flash the cm10 zip file right?
And is the CyanogenMod 10 kernel safe from the brick bug?

Read the thread for the particular version of CM you want to flash; read the first page for the instructions (which will be very clear) & follow those to the letter, then read the last 10-20 pages to get an idea of people's experiences with that version so you know what to expect.
Simple.
And yes, custom kernels are safe from the whole brick bug-thing.
Ive got to say that the brickbug only applies to 4.0.4 stock firmware.
Its not a case of flashing siyah etc and the brickbug is gone "forever".
Its only gone if you dont run 4.0.4 stock ever again. So if you have to revert back to a stock rom, pick GB or 4.0.3 for your country etc and you wont have to worry.
Only saying in case you dont know.
you could also flash official 4.1.2, that should not contain the brick bug.
