Why did my model number change? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I flashed this ROM : [ROM][JVP][Gingerbread 2.3.4] *** Asgard Version 3.2 **** [EDT][8.21.2011]
on my vibrant T959 & now my model number is GT-I9000. Is this a bad thing? Also does this mean I can only flash GT -I9000 ROMS now? Thanks advance to anyone that can answer my questions!

That's a ROM based on an i9000 release. It shows that as the model just because that's what's in /system/build.prop. No worries, you can always flash ROMs for the Vibrant as that's your device.

Oh great! I thought I had messed something up, thanks for the info!

Yeah that's fine. What VERSION are you running? Is the zip file corrupt?

Android Version 2.3.5
Kernel Version 2.6.35.11
Build Number:GINGERBREAD.UVKID
My phone is rooted and i have root access. I don't understand why my roms won't flash. All fresh roms not corrupted there fine. It keeps giving me (status 1) errors. I don't know what that means.
Sorry, I meant what version of Cwm?

I figured it out i couldn't flash any roms that are not compatible with the T-989 since the processor is different from the sgs2 skyrocket

As you stated, you have an SGH-T989. Why are you even in this forum? This forum is specifically for the GT-I9100, which is the unlocked international version. There's a forum specifically for your phone. You should be there. The Skyrocket has it's own forum too. I would suggest you be VERY careful about what you flash to your phone, and where it comes from. If you don't end up being careful, you will end up with an expensive paperweight.

Any rom

Hi
Im new with a sgs2, i can flash my sgs2 with any rom, i have ki4 in this moments
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Yes, just make sure it matches your phone model. Most roms are for the international (i9100) version, so don't mix them up. Follow the instructions carefully, and exactly step by step, and you're out of harm's way .
I have i9100 latinamerica, I have rom ki4 rooted, which you can recommend to be stable

Stable? pick one from the original development thread, any that is based of a samsung rom, you can pick and try until you find your favorite flavor.

it's just a feeling...
but if you come to here (xda), probably do you don't look for official rom.
In generally the custom roms or beta is working fine.
now you have information a lot to research here.
good luck.
Just test some roms to see what's best for you. I think you have here alot of choices so goodluck mate!

[Q] help? I can't find out my stock firmware

Hello I own a Samsung galaxy SIII GT i9300 running nightly build PAC man ROM 4.4.4. I deleted my stock backup on cwm thinking that I wouldn't need it but I'm getting a upgrade to the LTE version (GT i9305) now and I can't find out which model I am for stock firmware to sell this on, it doesn't say in settings and dialer doesn't work, and I need stock to sell this on. Is there a working ROM on all international's? I'm a noob at this so sorry if this is already answered or its a stupid question
EDIT:I know how to go to stock but don't know which firmware is right. also build number in settings says PAC man ROM nightly then numbers..
Thanks in advance!

Follow the guide in sticky thread, download the latest stock firmware for your country at sammobile.com
It doesn't matter what version your original firmware was, just make sure it is for the i9300.
Everyone says it does but okay thanks if it works
