you have to be on the same rom and cwm you did your nandroid on to restore. look at the going back to stock section of my guide(section 5) in the general section. very easy to follow...

Manually Install CLOCKWORK Recovery on EVO 3D?

Ok sorry if this has been discussed before but this is the first time I Rooted a phone. Last night I followed the Guide and sucessfullly Rooted My EVO 3D. I have S-OFF and Titanium Backup shows super user access.
I seleceted "NO" to clockwork recovery during the rooting process because the guide said that it could crash and I wanted to make the process as seamless as possible. Now I want to install a custom ROM and want to know how to install Clockwork Recovery manually on my phone.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Use twrp...nuff said

You can download ROM manager and get clockwork that way

+1. I'm used to using clockworkmod even though TWRP has more features. Use Rom Manager app to flash clockworkmod 4.0.1.5

Viper all the way.
I used Unrevoked, everything went smooth. I currently have TeamWin's recovery, but can I also install ClockworkRecovery? I have no idea if they would interfere with one another, or if having both is even possible?
If you use the revolution tool again its gonna tell you that you already have s off but it asks you if you want to download and install clockwork recovery. Y and enter and you got clockwork Found this by accident when I tried rooting a friends phone but didn't know he had s off already.

Nice Dood. This did it for me, even though i already had S-Off for like 8 days, I was lost. Does what it says, asks to download CWM since ur already S-off'd... AWESOME

Odin vs cwm

Why does the fascinated have to use odin? Why can't you just use click work just like any other phone?

Because certain things like radios and stock firmwares cant be flashed with clockwork mod.

...nuff said. plus odin is super easy. Moto uses rsd which is similar to odin and equally as easy.
You can use Clockworkmod, but you have to get it installed first via Odin. Even then, not every version of CW is compatible with every rom, and not every dev releases a rom for CW.

Need help

Guys. If I am s-on running viper. Would I be able to run my backup from stock and then switch back to viper again?

You probably can, but I have a few questions:
Which recovery are you using?
What kernel are you running?
How did you make your backup?
Better question: Why do you want to do this?
Twrp recovery. Stock viper kernel. And backed up with twrp

I suggest making another nandroid/twrp backup of your as-is, then restoring your stock backup.
With s-on, you may need to manually reflash the kernel from adb after the stock restore.

Alrighty then.
EDIT: Oh, I see the question. (I think) you would have to reflash the kernel (boot.img) again. I think is what you are asking? I can't really remember because I have been S-OFF for so long. I remember switching from ROM to ROM was a pain in the ass because I would have to be at my computer to flash the boot.img manually via fastboot.

Flash Failure

Hey guys I have a note ii but one of my friends has an HTC One and she's having some trouble and I am unfamiliar with HTC stuff and need some help. She rooted and unlocked and has TWRP installed. I've tried flashing Roms thru TWRP and I can only get a stock build to flash sucessfully and even that failed on the first try but when I try to flash clean ROM it always fails and won't work. Any ideas what's going on? Thanks

Possibly an outdated twrp recovery. Try installing the newest version and see how that goes.

What all are you wiping in twrp? What rom are you trying to flash? Maybe she needs s-off?
Sent from my HTC One
Is her one S-off? If not, I believe you'll need to flash the bootIMG/kernel seperately thru fastboot . I'm guessing cuz I have HTC Evo LTE and it's the sane way if you're not S-off.
If you're unfamiliar, I bet there's guides stickied in general or Q&A.
Good luck.

I wipe everything when I do it. I've been rooting for a long time now and I'm pretty good but I've never owned an HTC device so I'm not sure how to check if she has s-off but she is rooted. I was able to flash a bone stock 4.3 ROM but I couldn't get clean ROM to flash

I update that thru the goo app right?

You Do NOT need s-off to flash any current ROM's on the one. And you don't have to flash kernels separately like on older htc phones, so don't worry about that.
Honestly I really don't see why your having trouble with clean rom... What exactly is it doing when you try to flash it?

What recovery are you using?
Make sure you are wiping all partitions.
You may need to pull the boot.IMG from the ROM and flash it through fastboot

I agree with hossman. You may need to push the boot.IMG with fastboot
Noooo. Just relock your bootbloader then flash an ICS or GB ruu depending in your bootloader version
