Am I the only one who can't watch the green Hornet 3d that came with the 3vo.. It keeps saying downloading lisence and does not do anything.. Is there a way to get past it
Quick thumbing frm my 3vo.. So LISTENNNN!!!
Trust me. You're better off not ever watching that movie.
AND it takes up almost 4 Gigs of data. Delete that as quickly as possible.
There are a jillion better ways to use that space.
<<work in progress>>
I saw the movie, not all that great and a great waste of space if you ask me.
(its been on HBO and not all that great in 3D)
In order to answer you question though, I did not have any issue watching the movie but I had to register w/ htc etc... some user name and bs like that in order to watch it.
but what I just did was find some 3d movies and added them to my card, only took up half the space and didn't require htc watch in order to view them to watch in 3d.
What I'm wondering is that it could be your ROM that your running? if so, which one are you?
Also, I have some movies that are great on 3D but there not your hollywood types. The ones I have were open source and ready for everyone but did make it 3D with a nice conversion. Let me know if interested. The one that I currently have on my SD card is a sweet documentary about sea life and it looks really sweet on 3D.
OK cool.. Can I get the download links for the 3d movies and where would you download 3d movies from like new 3d movies??

I would go to ur favorite torrent site and type in evo 3d, I always get a list of movies that have been converted for the evo in 3d. Im pretty sure we cant list torrent sites on here...
What file type is the 3d movies?

Mine are in the normal mp4 format.
Lol thanks

Whatever site you want to visit, just search for "sbs" which is "side by side", that's the format our phones use for 3d. However, doing it this way will get results for any 3d movie, so they might not be in the correct resolution. And they might be bigger in size. But then you will find Handbrake is your best friend.

I'm seeing that all the dvd rips for 3D movies are called side by side stereoscopic. Pretty big files from what I'm seeing too (3-4 gigs). Are these the 3D movie files that are gonna be for sale? Or possibly another type?
I haven't heard of any 3d video content for sell other than Blockbusters 3d Video rental app of course. I have no idea what format it will read or make when you use 3d videos :/.
I'm not really surprised that the file size is so huge. If I'm not mistaken, to create the 3D effect, the makers of the 3D movies, when putting together a 3D movie, are just putting another copy of the movie, just slightly moved to the left or right. Which causes the 'in-depth' look of a 3D movie.

He's got the right idea. Two cameras are used to capture the same object from 2 different perspectives to allow the perception of depth, just like your eyes.

After reading many of the recent reviews, I have noticed that the Evo records video in SBS (side by side) 3D. So I have a pretty good hope that my collection of 3D mkvs can be converted and will be watchable in 3d.
So will RealD movies be able to be watched in 3D on the phone? I see that RealD is based on SBS, but it's meant to be seen with glasses. Also, does anyone know if the IMAX 3D videos would be playable?
I'm not even going to attempt to make an assumption about this, because I have no idea about whether it will work or not.
The stereoscopic RealD Format is a patented version of a side-by-side 3D formatting technology.

Real D is meant to be seen with glasses because of the screen you're viewing it on. There is a reason we only have glasses free 3d on small devices. So far for glasses free you have a limited viewing angle and range. For the time being you can't pull this off at the scale of a theater let alone an IMAX. Intel had showcased a glasses free 3d tv that was around 37" at a CES a few years back. While it worked the viewing angles were poor for a television http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/10/intel-shows-off-glasses-free-3d-demo-now-this-is-more-like-it/.
Anyway 3D isn't shot in too many different ways. The biggest issue is what format your TV has to output the 3D to match the glasses. In the PS3 you don't have to make sure your 3D is recorded a certain way, you just have to make sure you choose an output format on your PS3 that matches what your TV uses. It should be the same here on the Evo 3D, except the Evo has one screen so it knows how to display the images for that screen. The basic principle behind 3D is you're showing two different images at the same time, one for your right eye and one for your left to trick you into seeing depth.
Uhh, thanks?
My question wasn't about how RealD or IMAX 3D work... but rather if we would be able to view those types on our devices with glasses-less.
I'm not worried about viewing them on my TV, because I have a 3D TV already, so I'm just asking about the videos on our phones.
If not, then we will be EXTREMELY limited it what we can view in 3D (other than our own recordings), as far as movies go.
So, does anyone know if we can use either of those two formats on our phones, or is this something that we'll just have to wait for the phones so we can actually test it?

Seeing as the 3D content is fully supported by the hardware and display I don't see why a stereoscopic player can't be coded. That's to say that this device will not support these formats natively. The most common are .m2ts & .mkv, they do weigh in pretty hefty with a 1080p movie averaging about 10gb (Avatar is like 16) It seems to me that the standard 3D format for the phone would be SBS since it has the SBS camera. With that being the case we can naturally assume that it will process these videos much in the same way your current 3D tv does (merging two images)

This is a perfect example of how the 3D in question is achieved. STEREOSCOPE means dual vision, meaning a different image is sent to each eye. Meaning two images spaced appart like your own eyes. The director of "House of Wax" 1953 (Vincent Price) had trouble when shooting the film because he only had one good eye and could not see the effects properly.

I think we will have to wait. But I should have an answer for you by the end of the day on Friday, cuz I will have a 3d converted MKV all ready to go.
Outcome
It is simple, MKV is not supported on the Evo3D. You need to convert it to mp4 format to be played.
When the movie starts it is being seen as Side By Side (2 images). Then simply hit Menue button (the one that looks like 3 lines) and then select view in 3D and it works great.
Now the question is when converting what is the correct format to convert it to (resolution for 3D). Over the next few weeks I am going to try the settings and see what is best, so far I used the regular conversion from one to one, just the format and it plays fine.
Came across this site earlier today. Pretty cool, though most of the pics are 3DS photos, but we can up the average quality by a lot due to our high res cameras. I've uploaded a couple here if you want to look at them. The links lead to animated jpg versions so you can see what they look like, but you hit the 'download .mpo' link to download and view the actual picture on your phone.

Is there any way to pull up 3D pictures on a PC without using that website? I have an nVidia card that supports 3D if I want to drop another $150 for the "kit" but I was thinking more like just pulling it up the same way this site does or even in the blue/red format so you can use a pair of glasses left over from a visit to a 3D movie theater.

Thanks. It seems to work but I can't figure out how to view it in the red/blue format so that you can see it with some cheapo glasses. But at the very least it lets you view and split the 3D images into 2D if you want. That's good so you are not limited to viewing them just on the phone.

My old TMo HD2 came with both Transformers movies pre-loaded, which are pretty darn good movies to showcase on the (then) top of the line WinMo 6.x phone. And I think it is the G2x that came with Avatar. So what I don't get, is why did the primo top of the line, and first 3D phone, our EVO 3D, come pre-loaded with this crap Green Hornet movie?
Yes, the 3D effects are amazing! The early office scene with Cameron Diaz is jaw dropping. And I use that scene the most to show off what our phone can do to my friends. But the storyline, the acting, pretty much everything other than the 3D effects suck. It is a waste of disc space, and was a waste of my time watching it, but i did want to complete it, so my fault there.
Why, this being a high visibility showcase phone for HTC, didn't the pre-loads it with a 3D movie equal to its status? Why didn't they load Avatar in 3D on it? Or wait for a huge blockbuster 3D movie to come later on, and offer it as a free download? Geez! If it weren't for it being pretty amazing 3D effects to show off to others, this movie would be erased. HTC, or Sprint, really bungled this one.
I think the same, whst a waste of time and resourses!I wish they just give us the option to choose something good, like Samsung does with movies for there phones, well the htc HD came with Transformers and S Vibrant with Avatar, it's probably a T-mobile thing to get better movies to there phones. Well, they have to deal with there crappi T-service!

Yeah it's on the SD card that came with the phone. It's in a format you can't mess with and seems only readable by the Watch app.
You have to create/login to the HTC Sense account on the phone in order to download the license to watch the flick.
I just wish they picked a better 3D movie that showed off the 3D a little better. The Green Hornet only has a little bit of 3D action going on. But a free movie is free and I can't complain about that.
Guess I agree, but who knows what goes on behind the scenes for them to be able to pre-load these movies on the phones. I'm guessing there is some correlation b/w how lackluster that movie is and how Sprint is able to give away tons and tons of copies of that movie with their phone.
Green Hornet was hilarious. How could you not like it?!
Although I do agree, for a flagship device, they should've included something with a bigger crowd.
It all boils down to Sprint partnering with Sony on the release of the phone, which around the time of the release of The Green Hornet on DVD and blu-ray. It's a smart move by Sony in getting the movie in more people's hands, while also helping to promote HTC's new phone on several of Sony's marketing tours.

I gotta agree...Sprint could have chosen a better movie.
G2x was bone stock vanilla with very minimal bloatware..
Tmobile HD2 only cam with 1 transformers movie (im almost 100% on that as I only had it for 13 days and returned it)
Tmobile Samsung Vibrant came with avatar....
I've had all three of the phones listed..
And yeah green hornet ****ing sucked.. Seth rogan had 3 funny lines.. but he hasn't done anything good since pineapple express

HA. they probably track how many folks watch it and how many times and use it to increase their "not so great" box office numbers.
I agree with the OP. Though after watching Avatar 3D on the EVO 3D, everything else seems lacking. The Green Hornet was not filmed with a 3D camera like Avatar. It used post-processing to simulate the 3D effect and thus does not pop like a movie filmed with a 3D camera.
I wouldnt say EVERYTHING else was lacking Alice In Wonderland was pretty good in 3D on the EVO. And i found myself taken the phone form my daughter when Megamind was on too LOL
Before getting the Evo 3D I downloaded the trailer of Uncharted 3, Drake's Deception from PSN and saved it to my computer hoping it would look awesome on the Evo 3D. Now when I try to play it on there, it registers as 3D with the little icon on the gallery, but won't play and if it does it's still gittery 2D looking.

The phone has a "remove 3D" feature for photos but not for movies. The only way I know how to do this for video is to upload to youtube and watch online since it lets you remove the 3D off of videos. Well you see, I recently took a trip to Mexico (various places) and I could not help taking 3D video of various natural places I went (ie water falls, huge rocks, canyons things of that nature) But now that I am home, I would like to convert that video back to 2D for playback on my non 3D tv to show the family. There is no feature on the phone to convert the 3D video to 2D like with the pictures. Right now my only option is to upload the video to Youtube and play it from there because youtube gives you the option of taking the 3D off. When I play the 3D video off my PS3 or from the EVO 3D streaming feature, you see both left and right video. Makes it hard to watch.
