I agree, I'm sure they did it for battery savings.
I'm not sure I believe that it'll be pushing out right around the same time as the galaxy nexus is released. I'd think that they would release the nexus and give it a bit before updating other phones to ics but hey, here's to optimism!

Our phones chipset is supposed to clocked to 1.5, and the rezound has 1.5ghz and a smaller battery, soo maybe they have some new software development, idk im juss saying, plus rezound will be released with GB 2.3.4 im juss saying tho

Yeah the thing to ask is what's different hardware wise in the rezound besides LTE/WiMax and 3D, than what the EVO 3D has. Less those 2 things would be enough reason to downclock which I honestly can't see them alone being reason at all.
Haven't read the battery spec but would assume they have a larger battery than we do since they don't have the dual cameras giving them more space than us. That there would be enough to not downclock IMHO though.
As for us getting update next month......don't see that happening. More like 1st qtr next yr sometime. They have some big decisions to make now since ics adds so many changes....
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I think they will get it to us BUT...
What happened to the manufacturers promising to support updates for 18 months after the phones release? I haven't heard anyone mention that in a while.
We should get it since we have the same processor just at a slower clock speed, and the same amount of RAM. Wouldn't make sense to update the rezound and not the E3D.

The Evo4G was flagship when GB came out but it wasn't first to get it. Yes that's mainly bc the 3D was coming out but if they can hold off they will likely and do the same thing.

Sprint doesn't care about EVO 3D users.
Assuming they do announce it, they would release it till June or so. Too bad, because the One X is current and top-gen now. Who knows what will be out in 3-4 months.

So your saying tegra 3 is a better fit for gamers?
My honest opinion we should all just wait for the gs3.
It'll probably be the CDMA variant of the One X with the S4 processor, and one of the first LTE phones. Might even be a "World Phone." You won't have to worry about it being out of date by any other HTC phones since HTC is putting their eggs in the Quality, not Quantity basket. I'd be happy to see another 3D phone, but I'll live with the next phone in line. I don't hardly use the 3D anymore, but every now and again, it's nice to have.

I wouldn't really speak for everyone else in your opinion. Sure, they might have different specs that may or may not be better than the next EVO, but there are still some people out there VERY loyal to HTC, myself included.
Guys what is the next round of phone or phones? I am considering the s3, and the one x and evo 4g lte are killer, but if there is something better/more powerful towards end of year, I want to wait. Does it look like end of this year for new phones or next year?

There is usually a product cycle to the big contender phones. Just like every summer, a new EVO is released. You'll find other phones released between these times. But, you never know. They're already developing superphones that are faster than the EVO 4G LTE.
There might be a new Nexus phone announced at Google I/O next week. iPhone 5 in the fall, and probably another round of Android superphones for the holiday season, probably once Samsung/TI/Nvidia launch an LTE baseband that will work with their SoCs.
Well the latest rumors are that Jellybean will be released next week at Google I/O. You can get the new S3 or EVO but if you plan to see Android 4.1 on it anytime soon you are probably in for disappointment. I'd get a Galaxy Nexus or wait for the next Nexus line which should have similar hardware to the latest super phones.

Cool thanks for the responses. Good discussion.
I am anxious to see the new gnex, but I'm thinking it wont have a large enough screen (even tho the specs will be good enough). Other words, I don't think it will be "better" than the S3 per se, other than getting jellybean/pure android...but never know....
Lastly, the responses to this are actually "grown up" for once - you guys were spot on. Thing is, I was expecting much worse reactions as the question could have drawn out all types of trolls.
Hopefully XDA has turned a corner recently...thanks again.
How about the new WP8 phones that are going to come out around October I think. Huge update to the software from what I have read, multiple core, multiple screen res and size support. I would be very interested to see a Nokia WP8 mobile with their 41mp camera, and Nokia maps. That would be pretty amazing. I am itching to see what comes out.

Unfortunately for Sprint, slow data is the only reason I'm leaving...otherwise I'd consider the EVO LTE more seriously.
Waiting for the sequel to the Rezound on Verizon, then I'm leaving Sprint. I'm assuming this will be released around Nov/Dec. It will likely be based on the One XXL, if it ever comes out.

I have a feeling now that google has their hands on motorola, that they will eventually have a pretty sweet release....more then likely a Nexus. I have a feeling that it'll not be locked down the way it has in the past. Google knows what Android junkies want, and they'd be kinda stupid to not use motorola ideally the way they should. Hopefully it makes it to sprint. Main reason I'm hoping for this is purely for the fact Motorola and Google are AMERICAN companies.

For our developer community, we plan to make generic development ROMs of Jelly Bean available for both the HTC One X and HTC One S. As soon as the ROMs are ready, they will be posted to our HTCdev site (www.htcdev.com). We strongly recommend customers take the time to understand the limitations of the development software along with the terms and conditions on the site before downloading to their device.

Not much to be hyped about compared to the DNA....camera...and screen are really all that's a upgrade to it... Show me next gen Qualcomm SoC in a Sprint device and then ill get excited!
Really worried they will toss APQ chip in with MSM/MDM for radios which will be old by time of an EVO launch....

I still don't see VZ jumping on board this soon after the DNA release either...

Ugh I'm gonna be alone but if this is it, then ill need a lot that's not mentioned to come up and surprise me to get me to make a plunge on that device...
Won't see 800mhz lte support that early either...though that might not come till later in yr anyway.

If I hadn't already gotten the EVO in August I'd be all over that phone. My wife's upgrade is in Jan, she's likely getting the EVO as I doubt I can convince her to wait longer for this phone. Specs are beast. I guess I may be one of the few that thinks that phone is going to be awesome, I don't see why there isn't more hype....

If I can expect to get an update to an Android 4.2 / Sense 5 update for my phone, I'll keep it for an additional year and get something after that. HTC still has a lot of work to do, but I would really like to see continued upgrades for our handset.

I hear ya, but this will be on Sprint .. the DNA isn't, also this will have a bigger battery and with the smaller screen it'll smoke the DNA's battery life. So, better battery, screen, and camera? That's nice. Big improvement over the EVO that's for sure, and I bet there's other improvements over the DNA that will come out.

My wife keeps wanting me to buy a new phone for her, but she doesn't like the ones with the big screens. She'll only do HTC, and we have to stay with Sprint. So, she may have to deal with it.
If the next nexus phone comes to sprint then that will probably be my next and first choice. The fact that you can't take the battery out the evo 4g lte really really turns me away. I plan to give my evo 4g lte to my dad but something tells me I'm going to have to do some replacing of the battery because of how fast these batteries lose their charge after a while. That's gonna be a pain despite the how to videos. My second choice will be the S4 unless HTC gets there stuff together. Don't get me wrong, I like sprints variant of the one X but samsung is making their devices way more attractive lately. Always been a HTC fan but they haven't been coming through lately. Here's to hoping they listen to us.

You know sense 5 will happen on this device. Thinking this phone is gonna make the long haul. Sprint and HTC really needs to focus on a 1.5 year update policy for every device. Or maybe make it a two system update. Get 4.1-4.2, then 4.3 or next update. Or sense 4 and sense 5. Now that we arent upgrading our phones as often as we were 3 years ago, its either gonna be update to future proof the consumer investment or people will be jumping ship.

No mention of sd card there, no bueno. Plus with 1080p I'd hope there's a gpu upgrade in there as well, that's a lot of pixels that need updated.
