[Q] What key combination make RAZR reset? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Most of non-removeable phones provide key-combination reset.
For example,
===============================
iPhone = Lock +Volume+Home (3 keys Long press)
Galaxy Tab = Lock long press (about 8 sec)
===============================
But, no one knows about Razr reset key combination.
What combination key make a Razr reset?
As we know, android and all os are non-stable.
So we should know RAZR reset key.
hehe...

How to reset - Droid RAZR reset combo
Please hit thanks if i was of any help (it'll only take a sec )
That's the first question i asked after price! Lol
This is what I've been told. I didn't have any issues so i didn't required a reset.
Combination = sleep/wake button+volume up+volume down
You need to press all three buttons at once and hold down (abt 10sec)

Thanks for that but my question would still be... are you sure if this would work at any point while using the phone... be it the initial dual core screen or when its booting up or when its stuck somewhere during use... i think thats what ppl are worried about because at times the battery pull is the only way...
I think on all samsung devices holding the power button for like 10-15 seconds resets the phone but a few times on my SGS during a bad install and i was stuck in the DOWNLOAD option, only a battery pull solved it... nothing else...

Thanks for your answer.
Its perfectly reset worked!!

Just to clarify, it is Power button + Volume Down only for 8 Seconds to reset. Don't need to press both volume buttons.

I can't believe the Motorola sales dude told me incorrect info.

When I use the key combination on my new Razr, I get a screen that says fast boot, and
Device is Locked. Status Code 0
Battery OK
Ok to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
but I cant select anything or move forward. Any thoughts?

You held down the volume button as it booted, and entered fastboot mode. Do the same thing again, reset the phone with the power +vol down buttons, let go immediately after the screen goes blank.

thank you for this info

let me try to clarify....
Possible combinations:
Power OFF:
a) power button (1sec) = normal boot
b) power button + vol down = fastboot
Power ON:
a) power button + vol down = shuts down
??

To fastboot mode: hold POWER+VOL_UP+VOL_DOWN
Battery pull: hold POWER+VOL_DOWN

[Q] Black screen issues

Hi all
I just suddenly has a black screen for my Razr android , I had to press the power button + down volume key for 10 sec but there is no result?
what shall i do?
please
thanks
Is there any indication that the phone is,working? Any sounds, any vibrations? Otherwise its most likely a dead battery or a dead screen.
Open it up and check the battery connection? (not sure,if it voids, any warranty)

Atrix boot loop

I got an Atrix from a friend who was having problems with it.
I tried turning it on and it stays tuck in a boot loop with the "Dual Core Technology" screen.
I tried a couple of key combinations to see if I could get to fastboot but nothing works. So far I've tried the following combinations:
1. holding the volume up button while powering on
2. holding the volume down button while powering on
3. holding volume up + volume down while putting the battery in and then pressing the power button
4. holding volume up + volume down while putting the battery in and then letting go of volume down and pressing the power button
5. holding power and volume up button while putting the battery in
I also tried this. After holding down the volume up button and pressing the power button, i tried hitting the volume down button once and then hitting volume up, hitting it twice and then volume up, 3 times and volume up, etc. etc. and then plugging in the phone to the computer, just in case the fastboot menu was there but I couldn't see it, but that doesn't seem to work either.
As it stands right now, all I'm getting is the boot loop. The phone had been sitting around for a while so I'm not really sure what the history is so all I have to go off of is what I have in front of me.
I'd appreciate any help in the matter.
Can you tell more history of the phone?
Is it rooted?
Is the bootloader unlocked?
Which ROM is it running if it's running one?

I'm pretty sure its not rooted and almost certain its the stock rom but I have no idea about the bootloader. My friend is not very tech-savy so I'm guessing that the bootloader is locked.
I have no way to verify any of this. All I have at this point is the phone that sits looping at the "dual core technology" screen.
If you have any ideas about which way to proceed from here, I'd greatly appreciate it!
What exactly is happening (down to the last detail) when you boot while holding Vol(-)?

When I have the volume down button pressed while booting, the green led stays on for 4-5 seconds, then the phone boots to the dual core screen, it'll stay there for about 5-7 seconds, then go to the M logo with the ripples and then the screen goes black for a second and then it loops back to the dual core screen. Only, this time, there is no delay between the 'dual core technology' screen and the M logo with the ripples.
Try this:
1) Remove battery
2) Replace battery while holding volume down button
3) Navigate to recovery
Should get you out of the loop.

Maybe the easiest way to get make it work again would be to flash the original stock rom with RSDLite.
It's very easy, you just need to connect your phone via fastboot ( when powering on hold vol(-) key until it says fastboot), then press vol(+) and the computer will detect it.
Just remember to flash the correcto sbf for your phone, otherwise you will have another bootloop.

How about you do some searching on your own for a change?
This time search for fruitcakes. That's the stock ROM.

Phone won't power off

My phone is stuck on the boot animation and it will not power off. Hold down the power button and the soft buttons flash but nothing happens. I've held it down multiple times for upwards of a minute and it does nothing. USB plugged in and not. What can I do?

Performing a factory reset using hardware buttons
If you can’t turn Droid DNA on or access settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the hardware buttons on Droid DNA by HTC.
Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.

That didn't work either, had already tried that. Ended up taking the cover off the back and physically pulling the battery connector off, that worked... lol. Miss a good ol' hard reset button.

wow ! before that you could ask for a replacement thou.

won't power on but battery not flat, recovered after an hour charging

Anyone had an issue where out of nowhere, the tablet appears bricked, won't respond to power button even held down for >30 seconds?
Mine did that and it was at around 50% battery.
I charged it anyway for around an hour and then it powered on OK (phew). The battery said 90% on poweron, so I know for a fact it wasn't flat when it 'softbricked' (as an hour will only charge the battery halfway or even less).
I was running stamina mode, not sure if its got anything to do with it.
Really hope it doesn't repeat otherwise I have to return it.... or is this software bug....
i believe its volume up + power button for hard reset
and it seems like you have a faulty one... try repairing it with sony pc companion first, if the problem still persist then exchange for a new one.
I figure I"ll give it at least an update first before returning it. Its otherwise a fantastic device, and this is the first trouble I've had.
FWIW it hasn't done it again, been around 48 hours now.so hoping one off.

I had, but as @LitoNi writes you must press power + volume up simultaneously in 10 seconds. It is written in the installation guide that came along with your tablet. I first tried the small red button next to sd-card in vain, because that is reset on my Z Ultra.

OK so you had the problem as well? Has it recurred for you?
next time try charging it for an hour, might save you a hard reset

Yes, pressing power+volume up restarted.
it's a soft-reset (power cycle) not hard reset.
Hardly anything to do with battery in my case, since it was fully charged and still was after soft-reset. It just happened from one moment to the next. I was sitting with several gadget and switching between them. Since I am rooted, It could be an xposed module locking up.
I was very worried at the time, till I found the guide. I hasn't occured since.
Holding down:
volume up + power button = ~1-3 seconds = 1 vibrate = reboot/hard reset
volume up + power button = ~5 seconds or more = 3 vibrate = force shut down

A hard reset restore to factory settings and clear the device. That is NOT what happens.
The installation guide only mention 10 seconds and that was a restart as far as I remember. Don't have the device with me, to test.

just tested on my Z2 tablet, seems like sony changed how things work with V up + power
Holding down:
volume up + power button = ~1-3 seconds = 1 vibrate = reboot/hard reset no longer reboots. to force reboot: just open the flaps and click on it the little button.
volume up + power button = ~1-2 seconds or more = 3 vibrate = force shut down

You are right about power off. This time the little red button also did that for me. Anyhow, as long as I can reboot and enter recovery or fastboot I am fine. Then I can always wipe what I want, if factory settings and clearing the device are needed.

Can someone advise me the procedure (if it exists) to recover from the force shut down?
It seems I've done this trying to get to recovery and now can't even get to the sony logo despite hitting the red button. I hope I haven't destroyed my tablet, as I need to get to recovery and restore a backup after wiping system to try an ftf flash that failed.
Thanks

This is from memory and on phone. If you hold volume up while connecting USB to a computer, you should enter fastboot and issue a fastboot command on the computer to reboot, recovery, flash etc. Look up Android and fastboot for the exact syntax.

fwiw My Z2 tablet went dead after I tried flashing a prerooted zip. NO response to any key combinations, no lights, no vibrations and computer wouldn't recognize it at all. Tried charging over night, nadda. Did a chat with Sony support and was told to hold the on/off/reset switch by the sd/sim card for 120 seconds. I did that and when I plugged it back on the the charger my tablet was back. I was able to boot into recovery, flash a known good zip and I'm back up and running.

Question Sideload Issue

Sideloading latest update to Pixel 6, got to "reboot" phase and rebooted. This time another "reboot" option came up "cancel, latest update failed to complete". Without thinking I "rebooted" and now have a phone sitting here with a black screen and the word "Google" in bright colors. It has been this way for over an hour and doesn't respond to any button presses.
1st time in this situation - suggestions appreciated - 1st time posting here - hope I did it right
Enter recovery and flash the full factory image using adb.
Hold power button for about 30 sec.
Thanks for the replies
Phone seems to be locked - no response from any button, or button combo pushing - have tried all.
I think this phone is bricked

I think you have to hold the power button until it hurts your finger. That's what I have to do on my Fossil to get it to come back on when it dies. Make sure it's plugged in also.
I held the power button and several other button combos - nothing - phone is dead - new one ordered - thanks for the replies.

Mine was sitting at the Google screen yesterday too after flashing some modules, this is the only way I got out of it and into fastboot. Might be too late for you but maybe it helps someone else since JUST holding Power Up doesn't do anything.
Power + volume up should shut it down
When the screen goes black press power and vol down, that'll bring you to bootloader.
When it was at the "GOOGLE" screen I tried power + volume up, power + volume down, just power, just volume up, just volume down - nothing.. At this point I declared the phone dead and took the screen off . This was my 1st time taking a cell phone apart.
I appreciate all the replies I got to my situation, lots of knowledge on this forum
