Help, Installed Asia FW on my USA p7310 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, i did something really stupid today to my 8.9 p7310...I installed that Asia update to it and it placed the tab into a loop and crashes in the settings app when it first starts up. Cant access SD card to install this firmware. I need the Odin firmware to put back to stock I think. Any ideas?

Worked like a charm. This is what I did....
Installed clockwork mod recovery, overcome via odin.
rebooted into recovery mode,
mounted all directories.
adb remount
adb push (zip file) /sdcard/download
adb reboot
went back into recovery and installed zip from sdcard
thats it

[Q] [Close to brick]

Oook... it seems i'm not allowed to post into Development session due to my low number of post, so as suggested by VBullettin i'm posting into Q&A....
Really need your help guys.
I've played a bit today with my GT 10.1 3G and i ended up installing Bonsai ROM.
First boot ok, i setup all the stuff and rebooted.
Second boot, bootloop.
Then the tragedy.... i probably did something wrong and so actually this is my situation:
CWM 4.0.0.4 correctly accessible
all the partitions have been formatted
i'm unable to push any custom rom to the phone using adb as it seems that /sdcard, which actually is a link to /data/media, cannot be mounted properly by CWM or something similar
Even tried a factory restore through ODIN but when i enter downloading mode ODIN does not recognize the device and i see a usb drivers errors in WIN7. (drivers are installed correctly, i was able to use ODIN at the beginning).
Any hint?
I'd be happy both being able to install a custom MOD or even a factory restore, i just want to stay away from completely bricking the device - and it seems i'm not that far....
thanks in advance to anyone,
Cris
CWM 4.0.0.4 correctly accessible! Thats good news, all isn't lost.
1)Restore from a backup you created.
2)Try the touchwiz ROM quite popular in development forum and flash with odin actually for GT 10.1 3G
3) To push a custom rom into the device (why?) follow the steps, incase its update.zip
Now in CWM xxx recovery mode connect it to your pc,
STARt>run>cmd> direct to the adb containing pathway like:
C:\ cd Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\(type)adb devices
Hopefully your device will be detected,
Now push the restore.img (in case you backed up)
or anything into the sdcard( the push file should be in adb.exe folder) via PC:
adb start-server
adb push xxx.zip /sdcard/
4)Factory restore should be attempted from recovery mode, there is specifically an option for this plus dalvik cache clear all cache clear;NOT ODIN
Seriously bro its time to flash a factory ROM be it 3.0 or 3.1 if available via ODIN. I won't recommend flashing any custom ROM now.
Thanks man.
I was finally able to flash via ODIN HC 3.1.
The only minor issue is that is a P7510 version, so the mobile network 3g is not working. Minor issue as i didn't buy a SIM for data traffic yet.
Still, if anyone could point me to a ODIN compatible ROM for 7500, i'd be grateful.

i was flashing CWM from galaxynote.com i think it was showing the root method, and it was stuck at recovery.img but i did a battery pull and my phone booted normally(thank god.) Can you perhaps give me the link to the correct files so i can root this device? please and ty
Everything you need is in the DEV section. ODIN CWM dated 4/14 I think then flash SU for ICS. There was a thread for that and I am sure it is in the how to root threads as well.
Done.

I had the same issue with the original ICS leak. Odin had issues running on my pc because it is a 64bit machine and ended up making the phone unbootable i switched to a old 32bit computer instead and it worked flawlessly.

Formatted my phone, not it won't boot!

Well let me start off by saying that I "updated" CMW through ROM manager. Big mistake it was actually a downgrade after using CMW Touch. So I decided to change it back, but for some reason the version that I was directed to use from ROM Manager had problems seeing files and directories.
So...I couldn't get access to the zip to flash again.
With my OCD and having a ton of useless directories and files already on my phone I said screw it, mounted my USB and copied my files over to my PC and then FORMATTED the entire phone.
Then installed CMW Touch through Odin v1.85. Success...
But my phone is stuck at the boot logo. Is there a way to flash a custom ROM from this point via Odin?
I am NOT worried about the flash counter. I just want my phone fixed

Yes, I can....
I thought I could mount usb storage there and drag over a ROM and then flash it, but my computer isn't detecting it when it's mounted, or I'm doing something wrong...?
Edit: I wanted to add the fact that my phone is showing up in my computer's device manager as Samsung Android ADB Interface...So is there some commands I can do through ADB to push a ROM onto my phone?
Thanks for your help Joe.

Trying adb push 'ROM' /sdcard right now....
Well I got the ROM onto my card, but when I flash it I'm getting an error Status 7....
"assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "SGH-I717" ||, then it repeats and says quincyatt.... I'm thinking since this in the nightly build of CM9 that my device should be named quincyatt and it's not since I don't have CMW for this ROM???
No one?
I would use either strategy:
1. Get the Gingerbread Odin 1Click package. This will install driver, Odin, then format and flash GB rom.
2. Use Kies ICS upgrade site, go to tools, then do an emergency firmware installation.
Then flash CWM kernel for recovery.
If you can push twrp to you phone, then flash version 2.2.1.1. You will be able to install cm9 successfully through that recovery. If you don't want to do that, then push a different ROM to your phone and flash that.
Excuse me for diverting the thread a little, but . . .
@froidroid:
I don't use that recovery -- what is the difference/advantage of it over CWM? TIA
I would say just a personal preference ultimately. The reason I suggested it for him was so he could flash cm9. Cm9 won't flash with his current recovery. I would definitely suggest giving it a try. The UI is amazing and there are a few more options that aren't available in cwm.
Did I mention a nandroid takes less than 5 minutes? Best part imho
Thats a gooood selling point.
At this point I'd say flash stock through Odin and start over...as long as you've copied over your important files...

LoL Thanks guys, I got it.
What I was able to do was push the newest version of CWM onto my phone via ADB. But it was tricky because it came as a stand-alone file (recovery.img) so I did some searching to find an actual Update.zip for CWM and replaced the recovery.img in that zip with the new recovery.img
Then pushed with ADB (adb push update.zip /sdcard) and updated

[Q] AAccount's Diamond Rom 4.4.4 installation on p4

Hey,
As i don't have enough posts i have to make thread in to this silly Q&A board.
1. I have completely stock p4 (p7500) tablet with 4.0.4 android. I am wondering
is it possible to install he's/her's rom directly without rooting or do i have to
flash some other recovery with Odin before i can install recommended TWRP
recovery.
2. As the tablet is completely stock i haven't rooted it, but as with all tablet tutorials
they always flash some recovery with Odin before rooting. With stock recovery
i get these errors.
"Unknown volume path for /sdcard" so i simply can't install recovery from original named zip file.
Mr. google doesn't really help with the subject
When trying to
<code>
adb push twrp.zip /sdcard/update.zip
</code>
It simply says that action is denied, probably because i haven't rooted the tablet.
Instructions on dev forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2777161
are quite short and doesn't say anything about coming from stock rom/recovery.
So is it possible to do this straight from stock recovery or do i have to pull some
fancypancies before i can use desired recovery / rom.
Waiting for reply.

Pottumaa

First flash custom recovery(twrp) with odin. Then using your custom recovery flash your root.zip or whatever the rooting zip file is named. That will get your tab rooted. But you should be able to install your custom rom with just the custom recovery installed as the rom is already rooted.

So really only way is to flash custom recovery with Odin. After that rooting is kind of useless,
most rom installation scripts have root access or superuser integrated.
And no developer doesn't provide recovery that is flashable via odin so that's why i was asking
if it is even possible to do from stock recovery.
Any experience of using heimdall with p4?

Finally straight answer. Yes, very happy.
Just for the record they can be flashed through stock recovery. Little harder than expected, but possible.
When mounted you can get to root folder and simply rename your zip file to update.zip and place it
in to /sdcard/ directory. In my case internal storage of the phone was found at /mnt/sdcard/.
Should also work if update.zip is placed in to /cache/ directory of the phone.

2-- via downloading files to my external sd card
and flash them directily? What files i need for this?
Please help guys the phone was gift from my bro.
Btw i have macbook to use not windows, but not a problem i can borrow Windows
@Alrubaie, both method would work. You can install a firmware for your device using Odin. This would bring it back to life. And also, you can download a custom ROM (from development section here) and install that using TWRP, this will also do the trick. Though, you must be able to transfer files from PC to phone from recovery mode -- do enable MTP in Mount menu of TWRP for this.
