Hi,
Where can get the insecure kernel for I9100G 2.3.6 DZKJ2?
Just flash any kernel that has auto-root (Siyah 2.1, Ninphetamine etc.).
This is for the Q&A btw...

are u saying that siyal kernel work for that firmware or u didnt notice that its for i9100G version?
i would be very happy if u or someone could confirm its the first choice.
A quick google search pulled up numerous threads on this topic. Meaning I get to tear you a new one...
1. You posted in the wrong forum.
2. You didn't read the rules.
3. This has been covered numerous time.
4. You are a n00b.
And IF you would have done a search like you are supposed to you would have come across this.
So in the FUTURE, SEARCH FIRST BEFORE POSTING, and on top of that in the WRONG FORUM.

Use ki8 root kernel. There is no 2.3.6 Rom available yet.

Hi, I want to root my SGS2, but I have XWKI4 and I do NOT find an INSECURE KERNEL for it. I want to update it through odin and I do NOT want a chainfire root. Do you know any XWKI4 kernel? Thank you!

Why not search through the development section? Might I ask why you don't want a chain fire root?

not look for a kernel with all XWI4 name with one that is only I4, it works.
Example:
the kernel was UHKI3, and use an insecure Kerne XXKI3
Well, stoney73, as I read you can't have ROM Manager if you root with CF, and I like ROM Manager, because I rooted a Motorola Defy and I have ROM Manager on it.
Try this thread
Thanks MistahBungle, but I do not see any I4 insecure, only original.
That's funny, because when I click on the link that says "Post was getting large, so older versions have been moved to here GT-I9100", it takes me to a great long list of older kernel versions.
And you'll never guess which insecure kernel is listed/available for download ? Yep, KI4 insecure.
Funny about that, eh
Edit to add - Anyone who reads this & can read/search and has a spare 30 seconds, please take the time to click that link in Odia's thread and confirm to the OP there is indeed an insecure KI4 kernel available for download on that Hotfile page. And then slap the OP with a large trout old-school IRC style for me.

Thanks for your support MistahBungle, but I've asked Odia to send me the insecure and the original XWKI4 Kernel, and he sent me the download links.
He shouldn't have sent you the download links.
Why ? Because the kernel you were looking for was available by clicking the link in his thread I gave you a link to & going to the Hotfile page where he has all the kernels listed available for download.
The fact you were unable to perform that simplest of tasks suggests to me you shouldn't be messing around with your phone in the first place, wouldn't be surprised to see a "Hlap mai fone broked" post from you in the very near future :-/
And what if say that I successfully rooted it? You don't know me so you can't say that I'll brick my phone!
Can't you understand that I can't see them? And this is because of my browser, not because of me! I opened the thread with Mozilla and I finally saw them. I don't use Mozilla very often and you can't say that I am not intelligent only because I'm Romanian and I'm not American. And you can't say this because you don't know me! Let's get this over!

So, do you mean you want to go back to original firmware XXKE7 (which apparently you said you are unable to find on sammobile.com) ? Or are you looking on how to root?

Hi,
I bought an unlocked SHW-M440S in Korea, and I wonder if I can upload any Samsung Galaxy III ROM unto it, or is this model somehow specific? I don't need the original providers apps, etc. so I'd prefer a generic Galaxy III ROM myself.
thanks for any pointers.

thank you for the replies. since then I'm trying to read up on the question (which I should have done earlier of course), and this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30986864&postcount=534
says that:
***NOTE!!! - All roms available require a custom kernel for the m440s. Kernels for the i9300 will not work. Most roms for i9300 will work on the m440s but you must have a customized kernel for the m440s!***

I'm using cm9-1 on my m440s. A Korean dev modified the siyah kernel to work on m440s (I put link to where to download on Korean phone page) . I have installed many roms on here and most work.

I just installed cm9.1 then installed the siyah kernel (modified one for our phone from korean develoid site) then wiped, cleared cache, dalvik and reboot. The first time it will take a couple minutes to load so be patient Links to the modified kernels can be found on my m440s info page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31748681&postcount=837

thanks for the link - your thread looks really comprehensive.
I'm very sorry to have a very lame question though: I can't seem to find a download option on any of the custom kernel pages (e.g. on naver.com pages). I don't read Korean, so maybe I'm missing something obvious. where should I look for the download link on these pages?

Great.. thanks for making us int'l gs2 owners look bad. guess he goes up on the wall of shame! haha.
I'm trying to "Root" my phone, but I seem the be missing something. I don't want to cause any unnecessary problems, but the Kernel versions I came across on the Forums are all i9000, or something along those lines... But that's not what my phone says. Mine has a baseband of I727RUXLF3. The Model is SGH-I727R. I'm not sure which Kernel version I need to download that is the right ROM file for my phone... Any help would be appreciated.
This is where I was looking:

That's not the i9100. Siyah wont work on it. I'm sure there's a thread for your phone mate..do search. I'm not familiar with it much myself, else I'd love to help. Just pretty certain siyah wont work on it.
EDIT. I believe your phone is the at&t version.. the skyrocket. There's an altogether separate forum for that device.

I'm not trying to find out which ROM has the best features on it. I'm trying to find which baseband is the right one so I don't mess up my phone.

i just flashed MIUI rom from ARHD 2.9 , heres the link http://en.miui.com/thread-7817-1-1.html , Can i flash stock kernel from samsung like XXEMG4 ( 4.1.2 )or others, because i heard that MIUI kernel had some sudden death issue. I love using stock kernel since ARHD 2.9 and i would like to use it in this rom if its possible.
Thanks before
be sensible to actually ask in the roms thread what kernel you can use .

im asking here because there is no thread related to the custom rom im using, and actually i prefered using stock kernel from samsung. so it more like personal usage for someone who are using MIUI, im a new on SGS3 MIUI
What kernel / best kernel / suggest a kernel / rom threads are not allowed. This is because all "best" threads end up in ridiculous arguments about what's best when its subjective and there is no best.
That's why these threads are usually locked.
The stock answer is - try them all yourself.
If it's baaed on aosp, try aosp kernels. If its samsung based, try samsung kernels (up to 4.1.2 only)

Yes i know that sir, just dont know which version for kernel should i flash. Before this im on arhd 2.9 with stok samsung kernel, and now i flashed this one and my android version shows 4.1.1 but my baseband is XXMEMG 4 Which as far as i recall thats the based on my previous RoM version and its 4.1.2. This part that makes me confuse, which exactly my android version. And which kernel version should i flash. And thats why maybe someone can help me solved it. Sorry for asking this,im totally new for this device and 1st time using officially MIUi.

Why don't you use a MIUI rom from XDA .
