Crazy PNG optimizer I found - HTC EVO 3D

I posted thin in og evo but I frequent both places so here u go
Hey like the title says I found this with a search and installed it (works on windows). It took my 4mb already apkopted app I've got out on the market and shrunk it another 1mb and made it 2.9 MB with no loss if picture quality from what I can tell. This is a trial software that's good for 30 days and the program runs $15 if u want to buy it which I'm going to but will only post free trial link here. I haven't cooked a room in ages but am wondering just how small it could be made with this program.
With this being a trial you can only run 20 PNG files at a time but its easy enough to drag and drop 20 at a time and see a difference. Too me about 5 min with an apk with prom 200-300 Images. Let me know what you think.
Remember not to run your .9 files through this as it will break them and you will have to put back through draw9patch and recompile.
Also after installing the setting menu comes up upon first opening the program...click on overwrite original PNG. If you don't then it will just add a copy of the PNG and you have to rename and its a pain in the ass
It's called PngOutWin
Of course it uses pngout to optimize images

Monster Galaxy Hack?

How do I edit the values to have more coffee, stars, and etc?
I believe the correct file to edit is located here:
/data/data/com.gaiaonline.monstergalaxy/files/monsterGalaxy
However, when trying to open the file "monsterGalaxy" with the text viewer on Root Explorer, I could read some words but a lot of it is like weird symbols. How do I open it so that there isn't any weird symbol? Like there's a lot of square boxes and question marks inside a triangle symbols.
iam also trying to open it but unfortunately i dont know how.
i managed to open the monstergalaxy db.file and edit the price for the i think its called nodes i would say the islands, but ive not tested yet.
u can really use gamecih2 for this.
i've tested and worked well. (but sometimes FC, when hacking energy for enter battle)

Design/architecture question

I'm a .NET guy just starting out with Android development. A million years ago I studied Java in college so I'm sure it will all come back quick as far as language and syntax goes, but I'm going to have a lot of questions along the way.
My current project will be both a learning experiment and an app that I will actually use when done. I'll try to give a high level overview of what I need to accomplish and hopefully you guys can help.
In a nutshell, this app will display pictures. Think of it as a gallery viewer, but the images will be stored in a folder on a remote server instead of being stored on the device. When the app loads it should display thumbnails of all the images currently in the folder, with the newest ones first so that when a new image is uploaded to the folder it will be the first thumbnail in the list. Clicking a thumbnail should simply display the image in full size (or, not FULL size, but rather the image should be scaled to take up the whole screen).
I could do this very simply as a website but one of my main goals is to make this an "app" so that I can understand how the whole apk process works.
So step 1... where do I begin? :silly:
developer.android.com is an excellent place to start. Have you worked with the eclipse ide at all?

[info] Samsung watchfaces

I was really liking the "dark analog" watch face on the Gear Live and wanted to see if i could get it running on my G. I was able to get all of the watch-faces from the Gear Live system dump running on the G watch (moved the corresponding APK over to priv-app and set permissions). However, it looks like they were mostly coded with an exact screen rez in mind and not with percentages, so most of the ones that have hands are offset to the point that they're relatively useless. I took a few pics and I can upload them if people want to see.
EDIT: I found the location in the layout xml file that allows me to change the position of these elements. I figure that multiplying them all by 0.875 SHOULD put them in the right spots (280/320). However, i'm having some issues recompiling the APK (apktool doesn't want to seem to cooperate on this one). However, even if i can get it to recompile, i probably won't be able to re-sign the apk so it might not work either way. I'm going to keep trying a few things.
There's a couple on the Samsung one that are pretty cool. I hope you can get them working.

Moving Pics to new phone while preserving the dates?

Oops, seem to have cross posted due to having two tabs open, cant make sense of the changed layout!
Mods please feel free to delete this thread if no one has answered!
Hi all!
An oldie but a goldie!
I've changed from S6 32g, to S6Eedge 64g since I was running out of space.
Now I need to transfer 4000 photos (sorted by date) to the new phone. A direct copy from PC converts all the created dates to the current date (ie when transfer is done) which as you can imagine screws everything up royally!
Ive tried and failed in many many many ways including:
Samsung Smart Switch
FTP
Syncing programs from pc to phone
ADB push
WEBdav
Hail marys, and praying to every god out there
They all bugger up the dates...........
The ONLY ONLY way Ive found out that works is by zipping up the original files, transferring to new phone, and unzipping locally with Total Commander. ONLY Total Commander seems to be able to unzip and preserve the dates, all the other file managers and extracting programs (I tried 10-15) out there can NOT manage this. Total Commander probably works cuz im rooted, and it can use this.
HOWEVER this only worked with smaller directories, but my main pics folder is a 8 gig compressed zip, and when I try the same way Total Commander only manages to unzip the same 700 files and stops (anyone else come across this limitation?). So the only way I can manage is to zip up the original files in 7-8 different zip files and unzip locally individually, which is a big hassle.
Ive googled many threads on this problem, most of them were unresolved and some solutions refer to previous android versions or software and dont work anymore.
I'm hoping that you all dont spend four days setting up a new phone everytime ( home screen and app settings is a whole different drama! Thank you Titanium backup! iOS really has the jump on Andoird when it comes to changing phones...)
The only thing I can think of which I havent tried yet is USB OTG, since I dont have the cable. Anyone can confirm whether this method keeps the dates unchnaged?
So in your experience, whats the best way of doing this? How do you guys do it?
To be honest for 4 thousand photos swapping back and forth between devices you are better off using a could storage. Especially if you want to minimise the risk of loosing them all if something goes wrong. All zip folders will extract with the original date it. You could try and torrent you DCIM folder and language download it to your computer. Torrents download with their file dates intact.
Thanks for your reply!
IMHO this cloud thing is actually whats causing so many of the problems in hardware design these days in general.
Why is it so hard for companies to realise that when you are two floors underground, or roaming or even in middle of central london, net connection is not guaranteed......
Let alone the speed, convenience, security issues etc etc etc
As to the loss risk, I back them up on my home pcs regularly with a sync application, which ironically enough works perfectly well thank god!
So for me cloud is a no go....
As to your other suggestion, sounds great
Can I torrent just on the local net? ie direct from phone to pc?
Any apps you can reccomend? will save me trawling through a hundred crap apps in GPlay.
Thanks again for your time, its appreciated!
PS re what you said about all zips extracting correctly. Can you try on your device? Zip up a few small old files on your pc, transfer the zip to phone, extract there, and check the dates.
All except one of the ones I have tried do it, as mentioned above.
PPS Gave your torrent suggestion a go, no joy. All the transferred files had the new date ;-(.
I tried the the utorrent android app...
Update and for future help for people who will come across this issue.
I managed it!
I used Total Commander on the phone through the LAN plugin function, to access my backup folder on the pc, select all files and copy to local phone directory.
You need to initiate the copy from the PHONE on Total Commander, ie pull the files onto the phone, dont copy them by drag and drop from PC.
It took a while but it was done!
Dates and timestamps all preserved and correct!

Mobile IDE does not work properly when edited

Hi, I have a question about some weird problem I'm facing with an app.
The app is called AIDE, it is an IDE which (also) supports java, and since I am away for 3 weeks with no pc/laptop in reach, this is awesome.
Now, I just started getting into learning java and only know very very basic stuff ("Hello World!" or "switch" or "if()" for example). So it would be nice to keep it up while I am away.
This might sound like a first world problem, but I absolutely do not like the colourscheme AIDE uses, so I took it upon myself to change the colours.
I changed the colours from this:
[I DO NOT HAVE 10 REP ]
To this (very much inspired by eclipse dark theme):
[I DO NOT HAVE 10 REP ]
I changed the colors.xml file within AIDE>res>values>[colors.xml] using apk editor (pro)
From: [I DO NOT HAVE 10 REP ]
To: [I DO NOT HAVE 10 REP ]
and replaced the original file with mine, then I had the app rebuild the apk, and installed it.
So what's weird is that I get these issues:
[I DO NOT HAVE 10 REP ]
[I DO NOT HAVE 10 REP ]
[I DO NOT HAVE 10 REP ]
I tried do decompile and recompile using a variety of different tools on pc but I just did not get it to work.
I thought maybe apk editor pro used a different signature for the app and it has some sort of protection? Or apk editor has issues/made mistakes recompiling.
Then I tried to replace the modded colors.xml with the original, and the same errors persist.
I am just not skilled enough to know how to work around this and of course my issue was nowhere to be found on the internet.
So if any of you know how I could change the colours without breaking the app or why the app breaks when it is edited, I would love to hear:angel:.
Now, this issue is not something extreme or whatever, I can still use AIDE and extremely appreciate what the developer did, but it would be nice to have nice colours to go together with my nice display.
I think I will have internet at the place where I go for my vacation. I would love to hear from you guys on how this maybe could be fixed or why I was stupid:good::fingers-crossed:.
Good day
-Rubet23
p.s. since I DO NOT HAVE 10 REP I thought to tell you what the error message says: "this method must return a value of type" " even though nothing is wrong with the code, this even happens on the tutorial example code (basic hello world thingie)
